Since our neighbors in our building don't know how to share (people seem to forget to come and get their shit when it's done) so we started to do our laundry here.

I see the reviews so maybe I've just gotten lucky.  I've always been able to get washers that work as well as a dryer.  I've been able to do all our laundry in about an hour and a half's time.

Yes it's run down but it's functional and close to home...plus I don't have to fight d-bag neighbors to get our laundry done!

Apparently, members of the staff arbitrarily take your laundry out of the driers you paid for and move them to other machines, where they don't dry at all. In the past, on a few separate incidents, I found loads of dry laundry in places other than where I had left them, and ended up with mystery garments as a result. While I knew something had been up, the specific process was revealed today after finding someone else's laundry in my drier. The staff confirmed that they moved it to another drier and I discovered it still half-wet, costing me more money and an extra half hour.

Seriously? This is completely unacceptable and shady. If you go here, make sure to babysit your clothes.

Clean enough. Quarter machines work. The washers have never given me a problem.

The dryers? Man... If only people would stick a sign on the ones that don't work instead of just moving their clothes... So much heartache I've had from coming back 30 minutes later to wet clothes. :'(

Too bad this is the only laundromat in the Piedmont Ave. neighborhood. From time to time, I have to come here to wash the sheets, duvets, mattress pads or 3 week worth of laundry.

The reason I go to a laundromat is to use the oversize washer, and it's frustrating that there are only 2 of them at this place and I have had to wait to use them. There are only 2 tables and 3 carts, and the place is pretty small.

On weekends, it can get pretty packed in here. It's a good thing that you can put clothes in the washer, take a stroll on the avenue, start the dryer and come back to finish up. If you decide to leave the laundromat while you do laundry, please be considerate and return on time. (especially if you've got stuff in the oversize washer).

It gets brutally hot when the weather is warm.

For now, this laundromat will have to do for me. However, if an enterprising person opened up a new laundromat that's like Brainwash in SF with relatively easy parking, I'm totally there.

Please, someone with money, open a laundromat in Oakland/Emeryville/Berkeley, where I can drive to, eat, drink, hang out, and get my work done. I swear I will spend a lot of money.

$2.00 wash. 10 minutes per quarter in the dryer. Fair warning, half of the dryers here blow cold air and are, consequently, utter shit.

+ nice, safe neighborhood. lots to do while washing: bookstores, produce stores, flower shop, cafes, pretty-people watching.

    - it takes a good hour to dry a single sock, there are only two tables, tone deaf homeless guys occasionally use this place as a spot to plug in their boom boxes and let out the awful jams.

I happen to know the owners and the people who tend to "A Laundromat", they clean it every night! And for some reason people not only bring their dirty clothes but their dirty habits as well, it seems like people have NO HOME TRAINING!

If it is ever dirty it is due to the people who come to wash, not for the lack or service!
If you have any complaints the owner is usually in her office in the back of the Laundromat.

I agree that there is a lack of tables, baskets and chairs!! Suggestion box anyone?

After checking out some of the other laundromats nearby, I have new appreciation for this place.  It's bigger and less expensive.  There's actual seating.  It's by everything, so grabbing a coffee/bite to eat or running an errand is super easy.

I was just there with one load of laundry.
It is a decent place to wash clothes, although the lack of baskets didn't go unnoticed by me or other yelpers.
I also think there should be more chairs.
I did appreciate the convenient location and the 75 cent guava juice in the soda machine.
Compared to other places I've been to, it's your average laundromat.

I am satisfied with this laundromat. If it is conveniently located near your home, I recommend washing your clothes here.

    - sweet wallpaper
    - functional high-bill quarter machines
    - accessible by road and sidewalk
    - convenient to many locations suitable for killing time while your towels dry
    - root beer in the vending machine

I changed my mind about this place. It's really run down and the washers and dryers don't work a lot of the time. The tables and chairs (and everything else) needs to be really cleaned.  There is a lady who I see cleaning sometimes but she's not really doing a good job.  There is a giant pinkish red stain of some sort that has been on the floor for a year. The dryers don't get hot so it takes twice as long to dry clothes. Once the washer got stuck on and ran for like an hour and nobody is there to stop it.  I had to go look around piedmonster avenue to find the old codger who owns the place.  I think it's time to invest several thousands of dollars to get this place fixed up or sell it to someone who can really take care of it.

OK, but just OK. I give it a  "C". First I am totally annoyed with having to go somewhere to do laundry. But we just moved into a house and we don't have the extra means for a washer/dryer yet.
    * Parking - good luck. We go at night and can usually find a spot within a
block but still not ideal for other times of the day.
    * Not very clean. Wet spots, hair, trash. Its not horrible, but not that great
either. No attendants to help you with broken machines. Their dryers
      are really good though!
    * Only a handful of chairs and no restroom. But there are tons of
      coffee shops/restaurants close-by.
    * Mainly normal people doing laundry, but some unstable people as
well. Like the crazy lady who told me she hated my f'ing ugly white
face, and I should stop teaching her daughter to be a slut lesbian. Huh?
Well, I am pretty white, but not fugly, and I was a teacher, but I taught
Phys Ed. and god knows we female PE teachers would never approve
of homosexuality. OK so she forgot her meds and was just there
hanging out, and someone even asked if I was OK after she left so
kudos to my Oakland neighbors. And she left behind her to-do list on
which she had scrawled "stop having sex on Mondays". Yep, it was a
Monday night so maybe she just needed a release.

Meanwhile back at A Laundromat...decent enough but it won't make you stop dreading laundry day any less.

OK so I am new to the east bay, (so I am spoiled by the Little Hollywood Laundromat in SF.)  Am looking for a fun full of life interesting, clean, and friendly laundromat for using. This is a so-so place. PROS: The hours are great: 7-midnight; always someone in there; things to do on the street for it is right on Piedmont Ave. washers and dryers are well kept. CONS: fairly drab and dingy on the inside, small amount of washers and dryers and only two sizes of washers; so although this is VERY easy to get to and will do in a pinch; I am still on my quest for the future place to clean my clothes...

Not the cleanest, not inexpensive, no parking. Big signs clearly state 'Last Wash 10:00pm" and " Closed at 11:00pm".So, yeah, I get it. You want me out by 11pm. Not a problem  Soooo, why is your cleaning lady coming in, turning out the lights, locking the doors, putting up chairs and giving me the evil eye cuz I'm the only person she hasn't run out of the place....at 10:15pm!!!!! I wasted $2 worth of dryer time and left with wet clothes cuz I felt was imposing on HER life. Heaven forbid if she could hold off on herding me into the corner with her mop until, say, 10:45pm when I could leave with clothes that might be somewhat dry. Very annoying. And I agree with Su K. I noticed right away -- substandard tables, carts, and chairs available. One good thing: lots of shops, restaurants, cafes nearby.

Relatively clean. Open until midnight. The washers work, don't eat your quarters, and there are enough that there are always some available. Big tables to fold on and plenty of chairs to sit and wait in. No annoying attendant glaring at you. What more could you possibly ask for in a laundromat?
