You clicked on this because you want to find a hair salon that will be consistent, deliver great service, and most importantly make you feel good about yourself? Right?
Look no further, A Lago Salon is here and it will deliver all of this and more. I was referred by a friend to this salon so I though I would try it out. I called around 9am to see if I coluld make same day hair and color appointment with the owner Alex. I found out they open at ten so I left a message. To my surprise I was contacted right at 10:00am and was scheduled the same day. Here is the awesome part, about two hours before my appointment I was sent a text message reminding me of my appointment which I thought was awesome. A very modern feature if you ask me.
Speaking of modern, the salon itself is very nice. Very open, bright, and clean. You are immediately greeted upon walking in with a couple warm smiles and offerd something to drink. When sitting down with Alex, he really takes the time to give you a consultation. He honestly listens to what you want, offers his advice and all in all proved a great first impression. After having your consult it's time for your hair to be washed. Anyone ever feel uncomfortable slouching down into those small black chairs into those sinks while your hair was getting washed? Well, you won't have to worry about that here, A Lago Salon provides extremely comfortable, ergonomicly correct washing stations. You are at the same level as the sink and your feet are even up, I could have fell asleep, in fact I'm pretty sure I did:)
So you're getting your hair colored and you're usually given a magazine right? Well go ahead and bring your iPad because A Lago Salon provides free guest WIFI!! So sit in the dryer and start your review on yelp now because you are going to love it.
Did I mention the convenience of seeing your hair stylists calendars online? Booking your appointment online? Email reminders?
In conclusion, A Lago Salon provides everything you are looking for in a salon, They're professional, they're personable, and just down right GREAT at what they do. Thank you Alex for an AWESOME hair cut! -

First, let me start of by stating that my hair is not the easiest to deal with. I need someone with a lot of experience to know how to deal with it. I came here in the beginning of Aug. 2011. My hair was blonde but my natural hair is dark. My roots were severely overgrown.
I got my hair done with Alex. He is very friendly and so were the other 2 girls working there. Going in I had told them I wanted to get rid of the blonde and get something darker, closer to my natural color so It's not so much up keep. He told me it would be too much trouble to go dark because of the drastic difference between the blonde and my roots so he suggested I just touch up my roots. I was completely fine with that as long as he added some lowlights to add dimension to the color. He bleached my hair 3 times (something no one else had done before) and didn't add any toner because he said I didn't need it. Although I think it was really about him wanting to go home because it was closing time. It looked ok but it had a very yellowy tint to it and when I got home I noticed a few dark spots. Not to mention the lowlights were not visible. My hair felt pretty horrible. My roots felt more damaged than the rest of my hair. I recently went to get my hair colored at another salon in the San Diego area and they thought I had bleached my own hair because of how unprofessional it looked.
He did give me an A-line haircut that I loved. ( they get a star for that)
I give them and A for the haircut and a D- for hair color. I won't be coming back. -

I was in search for a new hairstylist in the Benicia area for months and found A Lago on yelp with great ratings. I went to the Salon and met Alex and he gave me a consultation and he made me feel comfortable and at ease. I finally had my haircut and color just last Saturday and I was very HAPPY with the results. I love the color of my hair and the cut is so cute and easy to manage. I highly recommend Alex !!!

I've found my go to place! It's so difficult to find an affordable salon in Walnut Creek and this place is worth crossing the bridge for. I had a fabulous cut with Jennalynn! She was very educational and let me know about every single product she was using on my hair! Left more than satisfied with my haircut and I will definitely be back! :)

Farrah has been my hair stylist for at least 11+ years! I'm so happy she is back at a salon! I hope you go check her out because you will not regret it! She is wonderful, friendly, super nice and efficient! I highly recommend booking her for a hair cut, color, perm, up dos, etc! She did my hair for many special occasions!! Also, she does men hair too! My husband gets his hair cut regularly. I completely trust her with whatever she wants to do. She does listen to what I want and we're usually on the same page. She is just that fantastic! Treat yourself to a pick me up today! Book Farrah! =)

I felt pretty comfortable coming here after I read the reviews. Also a friend had her hair cut here and it turned out well, although it's not a cut that would work on me. Unfortunately I mentioned that I thought her cut was cute and I'm afraid that's what stuck in Alex's mind because that's the cut I got in spite of the fact that I was very clear about what I did want. In fact we spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted so it's the only explanation I can think of. But my cut is not well executed or right for my hair or my face and it is definitely not what I asked for. What I asked for: beachy waves. What I got: described by friends as "edgy," "funky," "mod." ?!!!
Obviously lots of people have had good experiences here based on the reviews. I would just say bring a picture of what you want and watch the stylist like a hawk. And make sure you walk over to the window to see your cut because from where I was sitting in the back it was hard to see just how poor the cut was. It's going to take me a very long time to grow this one out - well, any time you have the majority of your hair cut shorter than your ears it's going to be painful.
Update: over a month later and this haircut is just as bad as the day it was done. Usually a bad haircut will be tolerable by now, not this one.Comment from Alex L. of A. Lago Salon 8/3/2011

i can never leave alex not happy with what he had done with me. even though i know i should go more often, when i do the visit is always satifying. i trust alex (and of course Jackie) with my hair and know whatever they plan on doing will turn out great.
a bigger plus is that they are pet friendly (with a bowl of water and doggy treats outside) -

I found this salon on Yelp ... decided to check it out based on the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Jen cut my teenage daughters hair and did an awesome job! She really went above and beyond with customer service ... and took the time to teach my daughter how to style her new haircut. Overall great experience!

After reading reviews of this salon on here, I decided to give it a try. I haven't cut my hair in months. My long hair (past my shoulders, halfway down my back) was dry, frizzy, split ends, no style. I needed a change. I've jumped from stylist to stylist because I never felt any of them did an amazing job on my hair.
I called up, hoping I could get a last minute appointment on my day off, hangin' in my hometown. Lucky for me, Julie answered the phone. It was 12:30 pm and the only time she could take me was at 6 pm, but she said she'd call me if something earlier opened up.
A little after 5 pm, true to her word, she called saying she could see me at 5:30. So I booked it down 780 and made it there right at 5:30. She was just finishing up with an appointment but greeted me with a smile. She was the only one in the salon.
When she was ready, she asked me how I wanted my hair. I was kind of vague - uh, trim the split ends, but keep the length and add long layers and side-swept bangs. She nodded her head and knew exactly what to do. I decided not to get a shampoo because I had already washed my hair, so she went straight to the cut. Her fingers moved quickly and skillfully with those scissors! She was really great to talk to - I've sat in awkward silence with other stylists. When she finished the cut, she rubbed this amazing smelling Moroccan oil in my hair then flat ironed it. As the steam rose from the flat iron, my silky straight hair fell into place. I looked into the mirror and couldn't believe what a great job she did! My dull hair was shiny and the cut flattered my face shape.
She only charged me $35 since I didn't get my hair shampooed. She seemed surprised that I tipped her! I love her genuine personality and great hair styling skills. Even though I live an hour away, I will be back!Listed in: Vallejo

Woohoo! Alex got his new salon & it is pretty awesome! :D New place, but same great hair cut. Alex always does an awesome job, so I'm never worried about my next hair cut appointment. He now sales exclusively at his salon Bumble and Bumble, which seems to work really well. My hair has also been growing really healthy since seeing Alex. Can't wait for my next haircut. Congrats to Alex.

alex is the man! he cuts mine, my sons, and my daughters hair and we always come out of the place looking sharp. love the new location and the personable disposition of each person who works there. these people are hard working and make it a point to give everyone an insane amount of attention.
word of advice - use the online booking. its such a time saver. all 3 stylists are listed on there and their availabilities each day. no more calling in and trying to match things up....login, 2 minutes in and out.
also, farrah is definitely a good one and we've gone to her when alex is booked. -

I was going out and i am not very good at styling my own hair. So i decide to try this salon. I was more than impressed. Helpful, tried to teach me how to do the style myself so i could do it at home.Called me a couple days later to see how my hair held up. Great customer service and amazing with hair. Will be returning for sure.

I've experienced all types of hair salons- from good, tolerable to horrible. Super image is an excellent salon, bar none. I have my hair cut by Alex every 2 months or so and I look forward to it every single time. I know what I'm getting when I go there, and I know my hair is in good hands. For me, I don't know the first thing about maintaining good hair and styling; Alex has gone above and beyond to teach me these things. I've never had a hair dresser who cares about my hair as much as I do (except for Alex). When it comes to hair he REALLY is my best friend.
I remember my first experience: I was looking through the yellow pages for a new salon (I was tired of agreeing to whatever my strong accented hairdresser was saying) and stumbled upon Super Image. I called, and Alex said to come in same day. From that moment on, my hair had found its heaven. What I really love about having Alex cut my hair is that he's honest about things. He'll always tell me what looks good, what he thinks, etc.-- and that's really important to me because that tells me he isn't doing this just to get it over with, he actually cares about my hair and how I'm presenting myself.
Aside from all the above (what more could you ask for), everyone is so nice. I can always count on Alex to keep up a good conversation. I'd recommend this salon to anyone who really cares about their hair. -

my neighbor recommend this salon to me having just moved to Benicia. I was not disappointed. I was able to get right in for a cut and color and felt very comfortable there listening to great music in a very cool old house. Jen did my hair and took her time and was very sure to make me happy. My color was darker than I expected but I have ended up loving the change and am very pleased with the cut. Alex is awesome and very nice. One of the main reasons I felt comfortable coming here was all the positive Yelp reviews, so I am adding mine to it. Great products too, just stopped by today to buy 2 new Bumble and Bumble products. I look forward to going back!

I found this place after a Google search for Benicia Salons, and decided to visit their website after reading the great reviews they have received on Yelp. Glad I visited the website -- you can book your appointment online!
Went today for my appointment, and was greeted by name at the door by Alex. He talked to me at length about what I wanted to have done to my hair, and then did a fantastic job. He even spent 20+ minutes blow-drying and styling my hair! Love this place and will definitely be going back! -

I normally get my nails done next door at Good Nails and was recommended to Alex. I'm still fairly new to the area, and very picky about my hair, so was hesitant about trying someone new with my hair. A little before the holidays, I saw a Trubate for the Brazilian Keratin treatment that was normally $250 for $100 and since my hair is thick, coarse, curly and FRIZZZZZY...I knew I had to give it a shot!
Before I went in, I conveniently scheduled my appointment online for the exact day I was hoping (2 days later) and Alex was very informative about the treatment when I finally went in for my appointment. The keratin treatment has done wonders for my hair and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who struggles with managing curls and/or frizz--not to mention, the Trubate makes this a deal NOT to pass up.
I've gone back to Alex for a haircut since then, and I highly recommend him to anyone in the area!! -

I moved to Benicia two and a half years ago, and started the search for a new salon. Long story short, my hair hadn't been cut between June and January because I wasn't happy with the places I found. BUT, thanks to reviews from Yelp, I have found my new styling home.
When Alex asked what I wanted done to my long hair, I said something to the effect of "uhm... well, I like the length... sorta... and I think there's layers in it?... but sometimes it gets hard to manage... and I'm bad at styling so it's usually in a ponytail anyway... so yeah." Thankfully, he was VERY patient, asking me clarifying questions and taking the time to make sure we were both on the same page about where to go with my hairstyle. The end result was perfect, which is commendable given my terribly unclear directions!
The stylists were warm, friendly, and did not rush through the appointment. I think I'm going to go for a shorter hairstyle come summer, and I know I'll go back to Super Image when I'm ready. -

I've hopped around to different salons/stylists, always hoping I'd find THE ONE. There has only been one stylist I've found in my life that did my hair perfectly each and every time. Unfortunately other people found him too, and he would always be booked and started letting the "fame" get to his head (and his prices). But no matter where I've gone to get my last cut, I always end up going back to Alex. He knows exactly how to work my thick a$$ hair and I have always left his chair a very happy camper. And now that he's added online booking, he's made it that much easier for me to get regular cuts. I think my search has definitely ended :O)

Super Image is one of those 'finds' people love to come across in hair care ~ Juli Liu is one of the jewels in the crown of Super Image. Save all that interior design fru-fru and the "rock star" attitudes of some places in town ~ 'Tudes and vibe' don't guarantee the color and cut you hoped for :) Julie's color work is second to none. Her ability to translate: "Well I want it kinda shorter but not too short, but long around the bottom and layered but not too many ...lol!" INTO a cut and style that is beautifully executed is a real talent. Juli cuts all 4 heads in the house, everybody happy, EVERY time. Now THAT's a stylist!

So I always hated getting my hair cut and would go to places that were really cheap especially since I think all salons don't know how to cut! No really, no one every knows how to cut my hair. So finally I was recommended to Super Image Salon and I was convinced I was gonna waste my money cause this place is not gonna understand what I want my hair to look like... I sat in the chair and a guy named Alex started just cutting...Of course I was scared. But after it looked great...I was really happy, he did what I wanted and next to you know I was back for the second time...Unfortunately I moved back to Sacramento and now I need a haircut but I don't want to go anywhere else..I'm waiting to see if I have business in SF so I can make an appointment!

My mom took me here to get my hair cut at least 5 years ago when the salon was still in benicia. Alex cut my hair and I have been going there ever since. I have recommended him to my friends and family and they have been extremely satisfied with his work. I recently took my aunt to get her hair cut by alex. She liked all of the haircuts that my sister and I have gotten over the years and decided that she was going to be brave enough to finally get her hair cut (she has never gotten her hair cut professionally). She was extremely happy with her haircut and said that Alex was very sweet and helpful with deciding on the style. Alex even called a couple of days later to check on my Aunt!

I've been on the search for the past couple of years for a good stylist and finally found it!! Juli at Super Image did a GREAT job on my hair on the first try. Very gentle in washing my hair and a great razor cut - as compared to other stylists in town who charge a lot and do a terrible job. She listened to me, and did a perfection cut!

Back in 2001 I was looking for a new salon to cut my hair with the goal of finding a place that would do a good job and that I could go to long term...I definitely found that with Super Image and 9 years later there is no where else I'd recommend. Alex really is an excellent stylist and I know I'm guaranteed to have exactly the cut I like every time. My wife has also had her hair styled by both Alex and Lucy and is always happy with the results. My son is getting his first haircut by Alex tomorrow so this really is a place you can have the whole family go to and be happy with the results. The staff is super nice...the salon is comfortable and the prices are great. I definitely recommend this salon to anyone who wants a good cut at a good price.
