My boyfriend and I are not the most decisive people. That being said, we were faced with a massive decision yesterday. At around 3:00, our stomachs were fully grumbling as we searched for that perfect lunch place. We found it in A La Turca.
We had gone here for dinner years before and really enjoyed it, however, we were not aware of the lunch options. What a fantastic place! We chose to sit outside while relaxing Mediterranean music played in the background. Before our lunch was ready, the server brought out a tray of delicious hot pita bread and rolls with fresh olives. Great for snacking. Bread and dipping sauce is always a good indicator of the meal to come, and sure enough, both of our lunches were excellent. I ordered a vegetarian plate- delicious falafel, feta cheese, grape leaves surrounding a great tzatsiki sauce. My boyfriend ordered the octopus salad which was extremely fresh and flavorful. The server was extremely nice and friendly. We're taking a trip to Turkey next month and he gave us some great pointers where to go and what to try.
Our stomachs were satisfied and the great lunch decision was a success. We're definitely going back here. -

Excellent hummus - with no annoyingly loud belly dancing music. Believe me- in downtown Hollywood- this is a big plus!
Stopped in for a quick lunch on a sleepy Monday afternoon. This place had the most people sitting outside so I took it as a good sign. It was.
Their menu is full of classic middle eastern/med. dishes - including falafel, tabbouleh, cacik, gyro (doner) and lots of olives.
I devoured a plate of hummus then struggled to finish my very fresh arugula salad with Parmesan with a side of bulgar pilaf. Very yummy; super fresh. My partner in food porn finished what was the best gyro special he said he's ever had. This authentic Turkish dish was tender and flavorful. No pita, no skewer. All meat, baby.
The service was extremely attentive and I am looking forward to coming back for some more Turkish delight.Listed in: Welcome to Hollyweird

This is the second thy I've come here and both times the service was excellent. Tanya was super nice and helpful in showing us the different mezes and recommending some tasty ones.
The second time I came here me and my roomie came in exactly when they should have pretty much been closed. The door was still open though and we went in and asked if they were still open and Tanya welcomed us in.
The food is delicious and the shaksuka and the stuffed grape leaves are great. The lamb shish and lamb beyti are cooked so well that have the right amount of spices. By cooked well I mean the meat was tender and still very juicy. To cook any meat at a restaurant without it being dry is good in my book anytime. The baklava is ok, but that's because I compare any baklava I eat with this lebanese place I ate at in London. Will definitely be coming back again and again -

A La Turca is a restaurant I have been wanting to try out, finally on the weekend I got the chance. Walking in, it a a smaller restaurant packed with some dates and some larger families. The inside has a very homely feel to it, accented by booths and tables. This is the only place I have ever been to were I didn't know who our server was. Throughout the night we had 5 different people come to our table and help us. After reviewing the menu ( which is packed with delicious food) I decided to order the Donner plate and my date ordered the Falaffel Plate. After our order was taken one of the servers brought out a basket of assorted pita and bread, with oil and olives. It was super warm and mouth watering. Shortly after our food arrived, to my surprise the portions were quite large. Each dish was assorted with a bunch of different stuff. Both plates were very memorable especially the Donner meat, Falaffel, and hummus. The meat on the Donner plate was seasoned perfectly and very tasty. I was super satisfied with the whole meal and super stuffed! The only negative about the whole dining experience was the rushed feeling. Our ordered were brought out very fast and our plates were taken away way too fast. But besides this, the meal was really good.
Summary
-Awesome fresh food
-I'd recommend lunch over dinner ($$)
-Very attentive
-Bread and pita basket!
-Rushed dinner service -

Love this place! Went last night and got a bunch of mezes and it was incredible. The food was fresh, not overly oily or heavy. Even the desserts were amazing and to round out the evening with Turkish vodka and coffee... The perfect end to a perfect meal.

- Went with a Turkish friend who knows good Turkish food. She agreed that this was a good find. Good service, healthy portions. Sat at fun table on sidewalk. Feast on appetizers, such as filo dough and cheese, (the garlic tziki sauce and bread, and tomatoe salad). Entrees were slightly less impressive, more a reflection on the choices than quality of preparation. Do get the baklava. Delicate and crispy.

Turkish food...yes please! This place has great service, great food. I really enjoyed their kabobs and the bread. I moved away from Miam but oh, if I could take this place with me to the west coast, I would. Usually there was never a wait which is great.

The menu is small, the décor conservative, allowing the food to really shine. The prices are very affordable, appealing to all budgets. We started off with a traditional Turkish appetizer of broiled eggplant with spicy ground beef. The robust flavors of the beef with the moist eggplant were perfect; in fact, if this were a larger portion I would have ordered it as my entrée. We also ordered an octopus salad, which was good but not the highlight of the meal. The octopus was prepared well but was a bit lost amongst the pickle and all the onion. Upon the owner's recommendation we ordered the 'Doner' gyro, a homemade kebab of lamb, beef and spices. Hands down the best gyro I have ever eaten. The meat was well seasoned and flavorful, pairing well with the expertly rolled lafa style pita.
We finished our meal with a traditional kanafeh, a traditional Mediterranean dessert incorporating pastry, sweet gooey cheese and a sweet glaze over top. The kanafeh was quite possibly the highlight of the meal. Might I add I don't usually like anything sweet. -

When you live abroad and far away from your country, you always seek for the best food and I am very happy that this place exceeds expectations. And believe me I do have high expectations. the food is fresh, the Doner (gyro) is great, the mezes that you choose are awasome, mixed grill is delicisious. I do also like the deserts especially home made fresh baklava and Kunefe. Very good service, nice decoration and reasonable prices. A must try

My rating is primarily based on food and service. Decor and music could use improvement. (Don't remember any music even playing... the soccer game was on). They had a variety of Mediterranean food, primarily Turkish!
We ordered Hummus, Fava Madamas, Calamari, Tabulee, Beef in Eggplant, Artichoke, Shrimp, then Beyti and a very fulfilling platter of Lamb, Beef, Chicken, Rice, and Onions. For dessert we tried the Baklava and Kazandibi (milk pudding) with Turkish coffee. Food was excellent and authentic. Service was very good. Definitely returning to again... soon!
Fortunately, the food was so good we were stuffed and then had some to go. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to enjoy the Hookahs they offered. -

A La Turca is a low-key and authentic Turkish restaurant, closer to Dixie than Young Circle. The offerings seem to be more on the Greek side. I've dined here about half a dozen times, and ordered take out as well and have no complaints.
First of all, there's no point in going if you do not order the Sampler Platter as an appetizer. It comes with about 5 different dips, including hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki and tabouli. My husband and I usually order the small portion ($10), which is more than enough for a starter. Sometimes, we even order the large version for take out and have that as an entire meal. It also comes with two kalamata olives and warm pita triangles for dipping.
Next, a meal at A La Turca is not complete without their spinach pies. They're flaky, spinach-y and delicious - especially when you're a pig and dip them in tzatziki. They offer several different types of kebabs, including lamb, seafood, beef and chicken (and many combinations). Most kebabs come with rice and a salad. There are also traditional gyros and lamb entrees. I always am happy that I order at least one lamb item, as it's cooked and seasoned perfectly.
My favorite way to eat A La Turca is to post up at an outside table and order an Amstel or a glass of Greek / Turkish wine. Service is friendly and not rushed. I prefer this end of the Hollywood dining strip, it's unobtrusive and perfect for a night out. -

In prepping for my fast-approaching trip to Turkey, I felt it was my duty to educate myself on Turkish cuisine. I refuse to look like I don't know what I am ordering when I finally do set foot in Istanbul! Hence, my trip to A La Turca on 02/27/10.
As we sat down and glanced at the menu we were greeted with names of foods that we did not recognize. This rang true especially for the mini-appetizers they offer. Fortunately, our waiter, Vulcan (?), was more than happy to provide us an education on Turkish fare.
Apart from your standard dishes like falafel, grape leaves, tabouleh, and baba ganoush, they were plenty of new plates that I was eager to discover. One that I was really happy to uncover was the zucchini pancake called mucver. According to Vulcan, this dish is not very common in the restaurants in Turkey but a staple in the Turkish household.
We also ordered a Turkish wine that was quite tasty too!
My only gripe is the octopus salad. The octopus was not fresh whatsoever....
Nonetheless, I plan to return and continue my education with Vulcan! -

I love this place, the food is great and the service is friendly. We have good back several times because it is great place for conversation with your date and a bottle of wine.
My favorites are the Chicken Shish and the cold sample platter that has falafel and other great stuff. -

3 stars because I just had ordered a main entree from their lunch menu for take out today so it is only fair to judge them based on what I had-which happens to be some eggplant dish (forgot the name) served with buttered chickpea rice and salad.Portion is pretty small considering my lunch cos 10 bucks, they def could work on that!
And oh if you're single and available do check out the oh so charming waiters....truly exotic! -

Awful Awful Awful. Food wasn't cooked properly, and took a very long time. Nothing here is fresh.. mostly from a can. The waitress wasn't friendly. So many better options than this place. Stay away

Ok so I've been here a couple times with a few different people and overall I'm pretty happy with this place. It has a nice ambiance, probably looking pricier than it actually is- it's cozy with nice decor. The food ranges from average to excellent (depending on the chef? not sure) however, the service has been spot on both times.
The first time I came here I ordered the falafel platter, which included several falafels, hummus, eggplant salad, tabulee, and tahini sauce (big plate-very filling!). We also ordered spinach pie as an appetizer.. and some other fried cheese appetizer (not sure the name)- this place has a TON of appetizers to choose from. People I was with ordered some meat options I can't remember (sorry carnivores, I don't pay attention when that stuff arrives at the table and this was a month ago anyway) and were pretty satisfied. I remember chicken on a stick.. which may have been slightly dry, but other than that, no complaints. After we gave our server our card to pay he returned with a little book to write a note in, like if we enjoyed our meal or what we enjoyed. It was very nice.
Second time I went, more recently, I ordered the same thing (what can I say- I can't resist the word falafel) and my boyfriend ordered the chicken salad. My falafels were a little more overcooked and a little less seasoned than my previous visit but they were o.k. He absolutely loved the chicken on his salad. We also ordered the zucchini pancakes as an appetizer and if you can stand a little grease, they were pretty good. They also brought a cart out to explain and show all of the appetizers which was nice since as I mentioned before there are a TON. We were really full after eating so we didn't order desert but when we asked for our check our server brought us some complimentary baklava and Turkish tea which was nice.
This place doesn't offer too many entree options for a vegetarian but I'll probably be back for more appetizers, and falafels of course. -

Ate lunch here the other day. Great service, really good food and a great value. I had the falafel platter which was more than enough food and for only $10. Their falafel was cooked perfectly!

Yeah, Hollywood has a pretty decent middle eastern restaurant. From service to price to quality A La Turca has what it takes to keep me coming back. Especially attractive is the daily special they run on their apps and wine - a great way to make a meal of many dishes.

My friend and I dined here for the first time today for lunch. There were a few people sitting outside and the place was not packed by any means... yet the service was still very slow. It took about an hour and a half just to get through lunch entrees (no appetizers, no drink orders, no dessert). I had the Doner (Gyro) Sandwich which was served on pita bread and with a side of cucumber/tzaziki sauce. I am not a huge fan of lamb but it was advertised as "fresh ground lamb, beef and veal, carved from skewer" so I thought it would taste more like beef. Unfortunately it still had the "gamey" lamb taste which I was thankfully able to mostly slather in tzaziki. The rest of the contents, including the pita, were delicious and definitely compensated. My friend had the chicken shish which she said was delicious. We would both eat there again, but next time we will make sure we have a good two hours to burn before committing to lunch there. The (Turkish) music was also a little cliche for our taste.

I have been to this lovely Turkish restaurant sadly only once. Ever since I went, I have been dying to return. Perhaps on my next trip up north. I would have given it 4 stars but I found it a little pricey. I had the app sampler with just to name a few grape leaves, hummus, and babaganoush. I paired my food with a nice glass of Malbec, which goes very well with Mediterranean and ethnic food in general. I had the Chicken Shish and it was very flavorful. For dessert I had the Kazandibi Milk Pudding it reminded me of a Cuban arroz con leche minus the rice. I licked the spoon we will leave it at that. Overall the food was fab. The most striking part of my experience was the waiter. He was super elegant and formal and very conscientious. What I loved was he gave me a book along with my bill for me to write feedback "so he can become an even better server" That sincerely touched me. I wish more waiters would comport themselves in such a way. I plan on returning soon and i highly recommend it.

I loved this place! Best Gyro I ever had (and I had had gyro's all over the world)! THe babaganoush was nothing special but maybe that's because I am Israeli and like it a certain way. The outside seating is very nice. I am definitely coming back!
