For special occasions, this is a wonderful place to order your pies from! I ordered 8 assorted pies for a work event and delivery was free of charge. The website couldn't be easier to order from.
The delivery guy was on-time, professional and friendly and our order arrived in insulated bags (one for cold pies, one for hot).
Everything was a hit, and we didn't break the bank either. The Bourbon Butterscotch pie was TO.DIE.FOR.
I'd order from A la Mode Pies again and again! Thank you guys for your great pies and fantastic service!

I come here every time I need a chocolate fix for their Mexican Chocolate Pie!  The slices are gigantic and I love it because I always want to eat a lot of it!!!  It is covered with whip cream and a little bit of chilli powder to give it some kick, which you wouldn't think would work on a pie, but it works so well!!!  I have to resist purchasing whole pies cause I would eat the entire freaking thing in one sitting.

The restaurant itself is pretty small, nothing too exciting - it works for a pie place!  We usually get to go though.

I'll take some A la Mode a la mode, please! Went here with a coworker after lunch for some coffee and a slice of key lime pie. This ain't momma's sweet potato pie! They pies as pretty as they are delicious, and you can tell that there's a lot of care taken to not lose that "home made" quality.

The café/dining area is super cute, overlooking Woodland Park and the Cascade Mountains in the distance. Coffee is Café Umbria, with a full espresso bar behind the counter. Whether by the slice or by the pan, check this place out if you're a real dessert fiend!

Perfect Pie! Had the strawberry rhubarb and bourbon butterscotch. The rhubarb was sweet and sour with a faint almondy taste, so nice. The bourbon had a pudding-like filling with a tall whipped topping. It filled my need for sweet, which I usually fill with chocolate.
    Definitely will return!

    Best pie in Seattle.

If you eat pie you must make your way to a la mode pies.

    Or else you fail!

Nice change of pace to have pie. I split a slice of the blue hawaiian and coconut creme. Both were good, but not great. The blue Hawaiian was interesting, but I think I would prefer straight blueberry. The coconut creme was pretty good but short of the dahlia lounge's.

It was good enough that I'll return for some other pie. Hopefully I'll do better next time. The slices are modest in size in case you are wondering.

For those of you who gave a high rating to  A la Mode Pies I propose that you have very low expectations.

I agree that Seattle needs more dessert venues THAT serve quality goods AND provide an atmosphere worth leaving the house for. In other words, for those of you who gave the higher ratings I wonder if you live in a barn....I explain below...

    The good...
-The coffee is Umbria and excellent.

-The Blue Hawaiian has a delicious flavor & texture crust

    The bad...
-The place smells like a dairy farm and wet dog. Something isn't right. And yes, I worked on a dairy farm and was a health inspector in WA so I know what I'm talking about. This isn't meant to be mean.

-NO AMBIANCE. Inside was actually cold and warm...cold lighting, awkward refrigerator ugly as hell, yet modern interior design. Lighting sucked. They have 1955 cafeteria lights in addition to the hanging bar lights that are modern and useless. I see why they hired someone to attempt to create a space...what they forgot to do is ask for suggestions on lighting.

-Country music???? Really? Did not go with the "award winning design"

-Again, the refrigerator next to the only 2 tables. How ghetto is that?

I would not recommend this place, or come here again. Don't let the nice photos fool you. I did the research  online to bring my wife to a place that supposedly had great pie. Huge disappointment.

Came here because my friend works for a catering company and she knows the owner. She was very determined to introduce us to the bourbon butterscotch (her favorite) but unfortunately it wasn't offered today. Instead, we tried the following:

-blue hawaiian : blueberry filling with pineapple and toasted coconut. This was alright but I'm not the biggest blueberry fan.

-mexican chocolate mousse: was more of a chocolate mousse pie with a little cayenne pepper sprinkled on the whipped cream. If there were any spices in the mousse, it was very mild. The chocolate graham cracker crust was delicious but I wish there was more of it.

-toasted coconut cream: our favorite of the day. It might even be just as good as Tom Douglas's triple coconut cream pie.

-key lime: according to my friend, it was "delicious". This is coming from a person that had the real thing (from Key West) a couple of months ago.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the pies here. Thumbs way up!

We just came back after celebrating Pi Day -- slices @ $3.14 on March 14! Yum! Partner's marionberry slice was "tasty", my key lime pie slice "a little slice o' heaven." We were, thankfully, helped by someone who acknowledged us immediately, was attentive to our orders, and pleasant. That goes a long way, especially on damp miserable days like this.  They offer Bluebird ice cream with the slice!

Pies are also available whole, lessons to make your own, slices available at Seattle places south like Zeitgeist and Geraldine's Counter (both Class A joints).

We'll return for more flavors. Mmm.

Do I need to give them ANOTHER 5 star review?

    Clearly I do.

That Blue Hawaiian was really REALLY good.

But the Bourbon Butterscotch? It won.  I am won over.

I am... a little in love with it.

The crust was heavenly. Serious, if there's a pie in heaven, I'm sure you'll see the A La Mode logo on the box.

I don't say that lightly, as I am not a crust lover. I will often scoop out the goodness inside and like pizza, leave my 'bones' of the crust to save room for more insides of a new piece of pie.  Not this time. I ate the crust with hungry growly sighing sounds just like the insides.  I also felt this way about the Blue Hawaiian crumble-crust. Seriously. What is in there? How can it taste this good?

So, yeah, I think it's pretty serious between me and this pie. I'm shopping for a house closer to the location now, trying to see if I can't get within 'carting' distance so I can roll home a wagon with all the pie every day.  That sounds reasonable, right?

So I urge you, don't go. Stay far away. It's mine. All mine.

Tried the Butterscotch Bourbon yesterday, it was so good that I can back today for a piece of strawberry-rhubarb today!

My only criticism is that the texture of the cream pie was a bit "odd", almost too firm.  Don't worry kids, I was able to get over it after two bites.

The strawberry-rhubarb was both sweet and sour with a delicious crust.

I wanted to try their White Chocolate Banana Cream pie, but unfortunately missed their cutoff deadline. They made 150 pies for Xmas alone!!!! They cooked up a storm.

But, my super sweet Auntie Ting, got us the Hawaiian blue pie. I paired it with the Vanilla Bean ice cream.

We enjoyed their fresh baked pie.....deliciouso!!!! Not rich at all.

Staff was super cool. I want to try their other pies with their exotic ice cream flavors.

I always preferred dough pie crust over graham cracker crust and was a regular to Pie's late night window in Fremont.  After discovering the pies at A la Mode, however, I haven't been back to Pie.

I've only had their key lime, holiday pumpkin and Mexican chocolate, but have not been at all disappointed thus far.  The consistency of their cream pies are light and fluffy and they're not too sweet.  In fact, the fluffy filling, sweet whipped cream on top, and the slightly salty, crumbly crust makes for the perfect combination of balanced flavors and textures that harmonize in my mouth.

I also feel compelled to add that the fatty in me could swim in a pool of that Mexican chocolate cream.

Even if you don't like pie, go here!  I'm sure these pies will change your mind.

A friend of mine brought the banana white chocolate cream pie for dinner at our place. I was not enthusiastic at first since I hate white chocolate. But it was the best pie I've had in my life so far (literally =). I don't know what they have in it, but it was smooth creamy and heavenly. It's not too rich, but it's very flavorful and comforting.

I decided to go to their store afterward (draw back - so far in Wallingford =P ). Their key lime pie was great as well. I've never liked key lime pie in my life, most of the time I can taste key lime flavoring lingering in my mouth afterward. Theirs is have enough tanginess and freshness balanced with the crust.

The crust for their seasonal pumpkin pie was unique and yummy. Tried couple other pies as well, they're all yummy.

On top of that, who would not like freshly made whipped cream on top of their pies. I have to wait 15 mins in their store for that, but who cares... nothing ever beat thing freshly made...

I work very close by, and am here for at least coffee 2-5x a week. Have had at least a sample or bite of coworkers or whole pies or  whatever... of every flavor. All of them delicious. My favorites are the Key Lime, and the Coconut Creme. I am not even a "sweets" person, and would crave salt or fat or even better salty fat, way before sweet.  Once I found out this place was opening, I tried another pie shop in town. BLECH! I am so so so glad this place is great!

I read a review that said the owner was rude, and barking orders. I almost choked on my coffee (from A La Mode) when I read that. He is sweeter than his pies! Which may be why they are so great, as they aren't overly sweet. I found it hard to believe and wondered if he may have been confused with someone else who was there.

Bottom line, you won't find a better slice of pie in town. p.s try the lolly pies, they are darling!

I tried this spot for the first time after seeing it a few days ago.  I find the double-crust pies seem to have more crust than filling; a disappointment.  The crust was somewhat thick and I guess I prefer a thinner crust.  The raves seem to be for the cream pies, so maybe it was a mistake to go with fruit filling.

I had A la Mode deliver a banana cream pie to my office for a meeting.  The pie was so yummy!  I'm very picky with pies and pie crusts since I make my own pies from scratch all the time.  The ordering process was so simple - place your order online 24h prior to delivery time, pay online or pay in person upon delivery.  I paid online and the website was secure/encrypted.  The pie was delivered within the time slot I picked, and for free if within the inner Seattle area.  It was baked that very day and came in a box wrapped with a pretty ribbon. So nicely presented.  Considering the time it takes to make a pie, and considering the high quality of the pie (it's not your Safeway type), the price is very reasonable.

I have friends' birthdays coming up - will send pie instead of flowers!!!  I can't wait to order more pies from A la Mode.  Give them a try - you won't be disappointed.

It does not surprise me at all that Chris Porter and the team at A la Mode Pies have nothing but 5-star reviews. Their pies are absolutely delicious, their customer service is outstanding, and their prices seem absurdly reasonable for what you're paying for.

We're using A la Mode Pies as our wedding reception dessert vendor. Chris let us sample mini pies of various flavors, and made suggestions as to the best seasonal fruit for our wedding date. He's gone out of his way several times to personally deliver samples to my office, and is genuinely interested in the unique details of our celebration. He's made our entire planning experience easy and stress-free, and for that I'm immensely grateful.

The pie crusts have the perfect sweetness to them (aka not too much), and the fruit filling isn't overpowered with unnecessary sugar. You must try the Mexican Chocolate Mousse Pie. Hell, you must try their Lollipies too (mini pie on a stick)!

Even if you're not throwing a party, you should come up with an excuse to order a pie from A la Mode. Seriously.

First off, I'm lazy. I have decided that there are a lot of things that I can probably do but are much better off handled by the professionals, pie baking being one of them.  A few coworkers and I pooled money together to get a pie delivered, having seen the website and practically drooling on our keyboards. The hard part was deciding which one to get. Once we placed the order, Monday could not come soon enough.

The pie was dropped off at work today and it is beautiful. Like some of the photos for A La Mode, it comes with a bow. The pie is additionally cushioned inside the box with tissue and instructions on how to slice the pie for presentation. I imagine you can also attach a gift message as well. Gotta feed the eyes first, as some might say.

We got lemon macaroon tart with a shortbread crust, the filling is a light fluffy cheesecake topped with lemon curd and toasted coconut. It was so good.  If you have someone in your life who could use a pick me up or is celebrating something special in Seattle, send them a pie from A La Mode.  If you're craving a home made pie but lack the equipment or know how, or in my case, motivation, get a pie from A La Mode. I can't wait to try all the pies.

    yummers...

we back-tracked after passing a la mode pies on phinney on our way to dinner at my future in-laws' for a "thank you for having us, please find my fiancee incredibly impressive" gift, and am so glad we did!

we picked up the apple-ginger-pear pie: the crust was firm but still flaky, and not too sweet (i do not care for sweet pie crust).  the pears did not make the pie soggy, the apples were just the perfect tartness, and the ginger married those fruits like elvis in las vegas.

the ONLY reason i give a la mode pies a 4 and not a 5 is because they use coconut and nuts in many of their pies, so if one is disinclined to consume such things, one's choices are limited.

(ps: i passed the test.  thank you, a la mode!)

These pies are some of the best I've ever tasted. That, and the fact that I can get online and order something in my pajamas and have it delivered to my doorstep the next day (many times still warm), keeps me coming back to my keyboard again and again!
Plus, Chris always has a smile on his face, and brightens my day with both his personality and his pies. I've tried several of them, and my very, very  favorites are the rhubarb (when in season - with this browned buttery crumble topping) and the lemon macaroon (and I'm not normally a coconut fan).
I think I might go order one right now.

We ordered from Chris several times when he was just on-line and delivering the pies himself. Now that he has a retail shop... well, it's a good thing we actually live quite far away. These pies are the BEST we have ever, ever tasted. And that's saying a LOT since we are foodies who do a a lot of our own from scratch cooking. Used to think my Mom's pies were the best ever... These pies are HANDS DOWN, WITHOUT DOUBT the BEST I have ever had. I've tried the white chocolate banana cream, the mexican chocolate and a few others and every single one is simply perfection. I took the Mexican chocolate to a potluck with a tex-mex theme and there was not a crumb left. It's the perfect combination of chocolate, cream, smooth with a twist of heat (and I'm not normally a chocolate pie fan). My all time favorite is the white chocolate banana cream - you gotta try it. Chris is truly talented. In addition to being an amazing baker he's also incredibly customer service oriented, a dying quality in business it sometimes seems. You've got to try his pies - his shop will undoubtedly become a Seattle institution.

We were at a wedding and a mini pie from A La Mode Pies was given to each guest to take home.  It was beautifully packaged and looked absolutely yummy.  A few days later we whipped out the pies and warmed them up.  Oh WOW.  Some of what the four of us had to say as we enjoyed was; We need to GO to this pie shop, this is off the hook, OMG (except they really said it), wow - there's coconut in there - mmmm, this is amazing, that guy REALLY knows what he's doing, did you see how perfect they looked, and plenty of the usual yum yum chatter.  Nom, nom, nom.

I am not a pie girl normally. In fact, I've often come to the defense of cake when it comes to the great "cake vs. pie" throwdown - BUT - Chris Porter at A La Mode MIGHT, JUUUST MIGHT be able to flip me.

For starters, I won a 4-pack mini pie sampler from A La Mode off of a twitter contest. Free pie = automatically delicious on some sort of level, right? But even if I had dropped the full price on this sample pack, it would have been just as sweet.

Immediately after being notified of my win, I got a call from Chris asking for my delivery details. Within an HOUR of winning, he showed up and hand delivered my pie package! You should have seen my co-workers salivating over the box of goodies on my desk, like a pack of hungry wolves.

I was lucky enough to get a tasting of key lime, blueberry coconut (blue hawaiian I believe it's called), a dutch apple, and a decadent caramel chocolate. The blueberry was crunchy with a fresh fruit filling and to my surprise, not overly candy-sweet. The dutch apple (my boyfriend's favourite) was begging for a scoop of vanilla ice cream to accompany it, but even alone tasted fantastic, with the perfect crunchy but-not-doughy crust. The caramel chocolate surprisingly, was very dense, almost like eating a grown-up pie shaped snickers bar - while tasty, it was a bit much for me and I found myself only able to take a couple of bites.

the standout star however, was definitely the key lime - and I don't even LIKE key lime pie normally! This key lime is magical - sweet and fluffy, light as a feather, topped with swirls of whipped cream and a graceful twist of lime on top. The presentation alone was stunning and made cutting into it almost heartbreaking.

Do yourself a favor and ORDER PIE FROM A LA MODE! Even if the prices seem steep, the product is totally worth it. The mini pies are quite large and the best way to sample a variety, and once you've established your favourite, definitely order a full sized one!

A la Mode Pies is the reason why I've started writing reviews. To say that their pies are sublime and their customer service unequalable would be an understatement. The White Chocolate Banana Cream is by far my favorite but the Blue Hawaiian and the very sophisticated Key Lime are close competitors. The Star-Spangled Sour Cherry is also very good but its presentation is what makes it more special, and the Marionberry & Hazelnut is a delicate concoction for berry lovers.
Prices are on the higher side compared to averages in the area, but the pies are worth every penny. And I have to say that the luxury of having them freshly baked delivered to your door step makes the whole experience even more worthwhile.
I loved these pies and I can't wait to place my orders for the Holidays.

It was OK.  On the recommendation of a friend I visited and purchased an apple pear ginger pie for the weekend.  I heated it that night on 300 for about 20 minutes.  The crust was really good, very flaky and had a good flavor.  The filling not so much.  The apples and pears were dry and there was no discernible ginger flavor at all.  For the cost I expected a pie to impress me and this was ho-hum.  Not a bad pie but not a great one, either.  Maybe I should have chosen another one but the other ones all had whipped topping and I was afraid it would be the fake whipped cream.  The server was no help and didn't seem to want to volunteer any information.  She was doing something and did not venture over to the counter to talk to me nor did she welcome me to the shop.  I was disappointed and wouldn't return.

Chris is awesome, and so is his pie!  We ordered a Key-Lime pie for our anniversary, and being from out-of-town, we weren't able to get our order in during the required 24-hour deadline.  Chris made an exception, and we are so glad he did!  The pie was absolutely awesome, and he DELIVERS!!  When it comes to customer service and quality of product, this experience was at the top of my list.  You will not be disappointed.

I think I've died and gone to pie heaven.  Within 24 hours of placing an online order I can have fresh, homemade pies delivered to my door.  Hallelujah!

I read about A La Mode in Seattle magazine and tucked the name away in the back of my brain.  It didn't stay tucked long as we were having a dinner party and I knew I wouldn't have time to bake.  I placed an order on a Monday for the 4 mini-pie sampler and Chris had it delivered to my door the following day by 12:30PM.  I ordered the French apple, blue Hawaiian, white chocolate banana cream and star spangled sour cherry.  I seriously had the hardest time trying to decide what I would order.  When I brought the pie extravaganza out to our guests everyone was excited to try a bite of this and that.  I was easily able to cut the petite pies into quarters so that the 6 of us could taste whatever we wanted.  The crusts were great and the fillings were fresh and delicious.  I highly recommend Chris Porter and A La Mode pies for any occasion or non-occasion. The pies came beautifully boxed and would make a great gift for someone as well.  I wish I had some A La Mode pie right now...might need to place an order.

I have ordered pies (and cakes) from various bakeries around town and A La Mode's prices are in line with everyone else's.  You are getting a quality product delivered to your door....'nuff said.

There is no question that these pies are outstanding!  The chocolate caramel tart practically changed my life.  So good!!!   I'm not much of a fruit pie person, but what I've had ---the Blue Hawaiian and French Apple are pretty grub as well.  It's also nice to have a pie delivered for a dinner party (like I did the other night) or as a gift.
