I LOVE the Hill House Bed & Breakfast. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it was fantastic!
The house is located about a mile from town which is a convenient walk or drive. They have private parking in the back so you don't have to worry about parking your car on the street somewhere. The husband and wife who own the Hill House are so wonderful. We had so many great conversations with them during 5pm "wine time" and they made us feel so welcome and at home, especially with their 2 sweet golden retrievers.
The rooms are very nice with a feeling of shabby chic, pottery barn and southern charm. We stayed in the Arcade Room (all the rooms are named after places in Asheville), and no there were no games in the Arcade room, but a very comfy bed, flat screen tv, private bath with an awesome claw-foot tub, white fluffy towels and white fluffy robes. I peeked into the other rooms and they were all just as nice or nicer. The house itself is beautiful, built in the late 1800's with a large wrap around porch where they serve breakfast in the summer. It was quite chilly in the morning when we were there so we just enjoyed our coffee out there and came inside to eat. Breakfast is at 9am everyday and they served us delicious items including croissant french toast with orange chocolate, fresh fruit, biscuits, etc. It was really nice.
And to top it off they had a bottomless homemade chocolate chip cookie jar, available 24/7, along with other homemade goodies. We'd walk into the house mid-afternoon and smell the cookies baking. It was heavenly.
Can't wait to visit Asheville again and to stay at the Hill House. I might not ever want to stay at a Hotel again. :) -

I was very excited for the Hill House after researching online! Great reviews and a charming house.
It seems that the owners have changed in the last few months- and some of the attractive perks have been lost (or get less attention). It was sad to find the bottomless cookie jar empty. Our bathrooms were cleaned -but sleeping area wasn't tidied and the bed wasn't made.
The breakfast was amazing!!!!!!!!! The innkeepers were very nice and welcoming. -

We stayed at the Hill House during the Mother's Day weekend of 2012. The reviews were great and the photos on the internet were beautiful. After driving 8 hours from Indiana and so much needing a "get away"....we were greatly DISAPPOINTED! Apparently the Inn is under new ownership. One night for 2 hours the air tub upstairs kept us awake sounding like an airplane or loud vaccum cleaner and the staff leaves at 9 pm at night so there is noone in the house to help you. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and the house lacks many comforts....like no microwave, no bottled water and don't expect breakfast until 9 AM. The staff was great.....but the owner did not seem interested in our concerns. When we travel we stay at B&B's and this one was one of the worst we have seen as far as being accomodating! Likes: staff and garden -

I had a terrible experience with Hill House in April 2012. Don't recommend.

My husband and i stayed here on a long weekend for our anniversary, and we were charmed by the home and hospitality. Built in the late 1800s, the house is a feast of old style architecture and decor. The owners and staff made us feel right at home, and were pretty helpful when we had questions about the city. The location is great for proximity to downtown Asheville; in fact, we rode our bikes or walked every time we wanted to go downtown. The neighborhood is also fun to walk around, and we enjoyed running through it to burn off some extra calories from the amazing meals we ate. The breakfast we were served each morning was so good that I felt almost foolish to go out and buy breakfast at the local favorite (Tupelo Honey). We will probably stay here again the next time we are in Asheville.
Also - they have rate specials for off-peak seasons. We got a nice deal on a 3-day weekend in mid-April. -

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hill House Bed and Breakfast Inn during a brief stay in Asheville on April 13th through the 15th; and I must say it was an absolute joy!
From the moment we walked inside we knew we had made a fabulous decision- the Inn is immaculate, clean, modern, and bright. The staff and their precious dog Bailey are laid-back, knowledgeable, and really just pleasant to be around.
Almost every room has a fireplace and a jacuzzi, the porch out front and the gardens are great to take in after a long day driving or walking around the Biltmore. There is also a constant stream of complimentary hot and iced teas, wine and snacks (the chocolate chip cookies are to die for).
If you are unsure what to do during the day, at night, or for dinner etc.- your hosts are the best people to ask. Not only will they tell you the truth about their favorite spots, but they will also draw you maps, explain other things to do in the area and take a genuine interest in your time away from the B&B.
Last but not least- the breakfast. The breakfast is served at an old farm-house style table, complete with various beverages. The food at breakfast is gourmet, certainly putting other bed and breakfasts (and most restaurants) to shame!
I recommend A Hill House Bed and Breakfast to anyone who will be staying in Asheville- it is an absolute treat. -

Creme brulee french toast, sour cream omelets, freshly baked cookies daily placed into the BOTTOMLESS cookie jar, freshly baked goodies served with tea and coffee, a quiet room with a jacuzzi tub, naturally made soaps and shampoos, couples massage... Unbelievable!
A wonderful bed and breakfast experience was discovered within a 5 minute drive from downtown Asheville. Excellent staff -- very helpful and friendly. An extremely peaceful atmosphere that made my 1 year anniversary so very special. -

Stayed at the Hill House Bed and Breakfast while in Asheville for a conference. Very nice and cozy place to stay. The hosts were wonderful and made some very good suggestions on places to visit/eat. The breakfast was very yummy!! In the evening you can sit by the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine and chat with the other guests/hosts. There is also a never ending cookie jar....very yummy!
