I just worked with A Good Handyman to install a sink in my bathroom and it was a great experience. I got slightly nervous the morning of the install as there was a last minute cancellation BUT Derhyl quickly stepped in and things got started only an hour behind schedule.
Derhyl did an excellent job and was very professional and efficient. While here he asked me about the lighting I was going to have installed and pointed out that the current wiring (hanging out of the wall) would need to be re-done before anything could be put in. He asked if I wanted him to do it while he was there since the install would be faster than previously thought. He ended up doing this as well for about the price Lowe's was going to charge just for the sink. Everything looks great, I'll definitely be calling AGH again in the future! -

"A Good Handyman" just finished their second project at our home and did a great job once again. The first job was creating "built in" shelves, and the second was a full remodel of the bathroom.
They are punctual, responsive, and every single person on the team is courteous. Derhyl, the owner, is completely hands-on and involved with every step of the process in making sure the level of quality is maintained. After they finished the project, we looked at every inch of workmanship and could not find even the smallest flaw. They are the most professional team we've had since we got our house, and they run a modern day business, with email and text messages. You can tell that being calm, polite and extremely accommodating is a priority for every worker. -

I was looking for a handyman in the Evanston area to improve a few things in my condo that I had been putting off for a few years. So I found AGH on Yelp and put in the request on their website. I received a quick response and George came out to take a look at everything we wanted to do and provided an estimate later in the week. Once I had a chance to review all my estimates I contacted AGH and gave them the green light. They were able to start work on my projects within a week. Here are the projects I had them work on:
-Custom built cabinet/pantry in my kitchen
-Custom backsplash above my kitchen counter/sink
-Remove/install new cabinet by my stove
-Recaulk bathroom window in my shower
From start to finish it took them about a week. Pretty reasonable given the amount of work I had done. They also stayed within the original budget that was quoted. They were also very clean and the workers that were in and out of my condo were very polite. I will definitely call them again for my next projects.
Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the communication could have been better coordinated. It seems they have different contacts for all aspects: estimates, payments, and actual work. This is my only knock on AGH, but overall I am very happy with all the work performed in my condo! -

I LOVE these folks. I have used them for 3 years and have probably referred twenty people to them. They are responsive, skilled, and punctual. They are honest and fair, they clean up after themselves and they are so nice. I can not say enough good things about them. I was so happy the day a friend introduced me to them, and now I love introducing others to them. I like them so much that I have their pamphlets in the waiting room at my office.

We had a front door that was very difficult to get into. They came out and realigned the door, replaced the door knob and deadbolt and tried to file down the frame to help the door close a little better. They were quick, friendly and courteous of our time and money. They were very helpful with making a determination on how to rekey our back door, as well.
We will definitely be calling them again when we need some other work done around our house. -

George was super nice. He came out to check out my problem and squeezed me in the next day because he knew it was an emergency. His estimate seemed fair and all work was done just as he promised. The reason I gave only 3 stars is because they used spray foam insulation to fill in the gap between the new door and the wall, only after I brought it to their attention. The foam was messy and it was everywhere. He explained that it could be cleaned easily once it dried the next day but it left an awful mess for me to clean up. Also, I asked for an estimate on another job and he never got back to me. That was disappointing.

Excelent service! These guys are great. They do great work and stand behind it. They arrive on time, tell you EARLY if the estimate was off, They clean up after themselves. My neighbors and I have been using them for years.
My new deck is fabulous and they installed a faucet, fixed the drywall holes, cleared a drain and replaced a toilet! George is in charge but all the other guys have been wonderful as well. -

As new homeowners we are compiling a list of go-to companies, and A Good Handyman is now our trusted go-to for both general and specialized jobs. George has provided three extremely fair estimates for us - to drywall our attic, to build and install knee walls and collar ties and to hang an original-to-the-house-but-long-unhung kitchen swing door. We were very impressed with the level of detail and transparency in the proposals, and from our experience and the experience of a friend A Good Handyman also has skills in spades. While we will be calling A Good Handyman for the other two jobs when we are able to complete the job (unforeseen complications) George did come by to hang the door. He did an amazing job, and provided a level of attention to detail and care that I believe puts any competition at a disadvantage. He is also super nice and fun to talk to. It is pretty amazing to find a company that treats your home with more care than you do! Overall, I would recommend this company to anyone who owns an old home and is looking for someone with both experience in dealing with, and appreciation for, the quirks of an old house.

We had some drywall repair that was needed and a few other things, and hired A Good Handyman to do the work. Jesse came to do the work and was very professional and did a GREAT job. There was another hole that needed patching (unrelated to the org issue) and he fixed it in btwn waiting for the bathroom to dry. Great job, great people to work with - definitely will hire them to do more work!
