SERIOUSLY as good as it gets! What happens when you become a gold Elite, or in my case, when extra spots are available. :P
Crazy Yelp ice sculpture with giant prawns - ingenious!
Capital Grille was so generous - from the delicious food to the demonstrations and the awesome swag!
Sampled some prawns, lobster roll sliders, truffle fries, sirloin sliders, and sirloin skewers. Everything tasted great, and the lobster roll sliders had some nice juicy pieces of lobster. They kept the food coming so that everyone go to sample some!
For drinks, they featured the stoli doli (pineapple infused vodka) and the bohemian, along with a grapefruit club soda. They were all refreshing and delightful!
The staff were wonderful. I sat at the far table with some awesome Yelpers like Jennifer N and Cynthia A. At first, none of the food made it to us, but then Serena started serving us and personally made sure to bring trays to us so that we wouldn't miss out on anything.
There was a tour and a chef demonstration, which I tried to partake in but couldn't hear anything. :(
Lastly, we received SUPER COOL gift bags that included gift certificates, truffles, and a steak rub. :)
Thank you Katie B and Capital Grille for such a fabulous time! -

An elite event for a gold badger...luckily I've got that gold badge.
Everything about the Capital Grille was excellent. From the complimentary valet service to the free drinks at the bar to the wonderful kind servers passing out food. It was a nice way to spend my Sunday afternoon, with no worries and great company.
No need to worry about parking in LA. Capital Grille had that covered with free valet.
No need to worry that you'll be hungry. Capital Grille had that covered with gigantic cocktail shrimps piled sky high plus delicious sliders!
No need to worry about which drink was free. Capital Grille had that covered with open bar.
Overall I had a great time catching up with everyone! Yelpers are seriously the coolest people out there. But they are also the quickest people when it comes to free gift bags...you snooze you lose and I went home with no gift bag! Next time I must be on top of my game.
Thank you Katie B. For always throwing a great event! You are the bestest!Listed in: Yelp Events are fun!

Review from Carrie U.
This was my first gold elite event (I didn't even know there was such a thing!) and it was amazing. The perks were super generous and the venue even more so.
Jason and Ben were amazing behind the bar. I get the feeling they weren't expecting that many people to show up because they were absolutely swamped. I saw someone get a tray of glass flutes poured on them at the bar but luckily they cleaned that up immediately and were super concerned to make sure that he was ok. I sat at the end of the bar but unfortunately the wrong end for food. I was there for a while but only got to try one of the sandwiches, the fries, and the soup. The awesome part was that I was on the right side for booze andI got to try all the drinks at least three times each.
I'm super lucky to have been able to go! I'm definitely going to RSVP to the next one and try to attend. -

How lucky am I to get to go to this AWESOME EVENT?!!!!!!!!! At first glance, you already knew it was gonna be posh when you pull up to the complimentary valet and get whisked away into the elegant dining room. It really is a beauty downstairs. My new-found friend, Monica C., and I headed upstairs to the lounge for the afternoon soiree.
We mingled with grapefruit sodas and tasted lots of passed "plates". The lobster rolls were perfect!! It had a piece of lobster coated with a cream sauce and greens over a warm sweet soft roll. Delish!! The kona crusted sirloin was so tender and had a great rich flavor to it. I will order that next time!! I didn't get a chance to try the humongous cocktail shrimp :(.
We got to watch a demo of the dry rubs from the chef and take a tour of the restaurant. They have many private rooms which are perfect for celebrations! My favorite part of the restaurant was the wine "cellar". It was a chilled glass-enclosed wine storage that we got to walk into. It was really cool! I want one in my house.... I love the wine lockers!! I got to see Derek Fisher's!! :D
Loved the Yelp Ice Sculpture, totally awesome!!!
The service was impeccable. Everyone was very gracious and friendly. I loved the atmosphere, very fancy!
I also loved the goodie bags!! Truffles, TCG's Porcini Rub, Free appetizer, and Free lunch for 2!! Excellent!
I would like to thank Katie B. and The Capital Grille for putting this event for us. It was truly amazing!!!!!!!!
Shout out to Monica C., Andrew F., Brittany B., Tess M., & James S.!! :DListed in: Party like a Yelp-Star!

This Elite even is probably my favorite so far! It was in a more intimate setting at the Capital Grille, Sunday best attire was required, the food and drinks were oh so delicious, we all got a gift bag, and there was free valet! As always, it's good to catch up with fellow Yelpers, and I also finally got to meet Lucy Y at the event!
Muchas gracias to Katie B. once again for an awesome event!
I'll be back here to redeem my free lunch soon!Listed in: I Heart Yelp

Thanks to the generosity of my friend James S for bringing me as his +1, I got to rub elbows with the golden (badge-holding) children of Yelp this afternoon! And what an awesome time it was!!
Katie B and The Capital Grille laid out a shockingly impressive spread throughout the entire upstairs patio and bar area for us. After using the complimentary valet service, we entered the restaurant and were escorted to the base of the staircase leading to the second floor. A place I had never been before!!
We climbed the stairs and signed in, and immediately spied an impressive Yelp logo'd ice-sculpture-topped ice tower of HUGE shrimp and bowls of cocktail sauce. These shrimp were BIG, and super fresh, and there were a LOT of them!
Once we sat down at a table, attentive servers came around with samples from their awesome new menu ($16 for a 3-course lunch):
Lobster Rolls - rolls with tarragon-scented chunks of fresh lobster and mixed field greens
Tenderloin Sliders - a mini version of their sammich, on a roll, with a big slice of very tender beef, a bit of mayo and a couple slices of mushrooms
Parmesan Truffle French Fries - baskets of hot fries, not quite skinny but not fat either, topped with shaved parmesan, parsley, salt and truffle oil
Sliced Steak - slices of medium rare steak, drizzled with a mushroomy sauce
Roasted Red Pepper Soup - DELISH and bursting with roasty red pepper flavor
Stoli Doli - Soli that's been marinating in Dole pineapple for 7 hours....yum!!
Peach Raspberry bubbly drink - ok, so I forget the name of this drink, but it was a champagne flute of some bubbly, mixed with peach liqueur, with a gorgeous raspberry floating in it. It was YUM!
The food was TOP NOTCH, and there was PLENTY of it!!
I watched a cooking demo from across the patio, and then joined in when the friendly and gracious Erin O'Mara offered to give tours of the restaurant. Our little group was shown the private rooms, and then walked into the chilled wine kiosk that houses all their reds! Erin also showed us the private wine storage in the front of the restaurant that holds about 18 bottles, costs $350/year, and comes with awesome special privileges like wine tastings with food pairings.
As if the wonderful service, the plentiful and high-quality food and the behind-the-scenes tour wasn't enough, we each were sent home with a generous gift bag of goodies. This gift bag included a darling box of house-made chocolate truffles, a jar of their porcini meat rub, and two vouchers for a return visit - one for an order of Pan Fried Calamari and one for a free lunch for 2, to promote their new 3-course lunch menu.
This event was absolutely the BEST EVER!!
The cherry on top for me was FINALLY meeting the infamous Tess M IN PERSON, getting to spend time with James S and Anthony N, seeing the darling Christina Y and and the incomparable Katie B after so long, and meeting Brittany B!!
Thank you James S, for inviting me to ride on your golden (badged) coattails. Thank you Capital Grille for the top-notch spread. And thank you Katie B for being the mastermind behind it all!!Listed in: Yelp is the COOLEST!

Free valet parking! Sorry J! I should have taken advantage and not made us walk around the entire Beverly Center to get to the place. However, watching you walk was kind of a bonus for me.
Ring the bell of gratitude. The servers, chef, bartenders, and all of the staff made us feel like a million bux! Blue Label Chimay poured in a conical glass and it's comped!? That earns the hellishly red stars above alone.
An ice sculpture with shrimp with our corporate Yelp logo? Priceless.
What I enjoyed most, besides my elegant plus one, http://www.yelp.com/bi... was the non-theme theme, and the graciousness of the entire staff at Capital. Others have spoken of the food. Let me speak as a Golden God.
This was a Round Robin for me. After an amazing and geek worthy 6 years of Elite yelping I'm in a unique position to see the Yelp experiment with perspective. And although when once upon a time, not too long ago, I couldn't work my way through a room at an Elite event without being accosted by familiar faces every two feet, or having a story to tell for every other o'clock I spun - this time I had to look hard to find a familiar face, except for the one I met three yelp years ago in front of me. I've met a few very tight friends here who have changed my life. And now we all watch the next generation flow in.
I must say that if I was a newbie at this event, and hopefully there were a few there... I would have been just as excited as if it was my first Yelp event at Lola's in "07. Well, almost! I was a lot younger then, and come to think of it, so was Yelp! -

WOW...that should sum of up the awesome yelp event at the Capital Grille.
There was roasted red pepper soup (yummy), tenderloin sliders, lobster rolls, truffle fries and so much more. The lobster rolls and the steak mini burgers were delicious as were the huge cocktail shrimps. For the first time, I spend less time eating and drinking and more time meeting my yelp friends! Loved meeting my fellow yelpers again....Laura S, Catherine C, Ellerton W, Michael C and making new friends (Tiana T, Shannon, Wry, was so much fun meeting you guys!) Tess M, I was so happy to meet you finally!
The staff were really friendly, the food was delicious but the cocktails wowed me totally...I am still dreaming of the Stoli Doli cocktail! Capital Grille was nice enough to offer free wine and beer as well...another reason this event rocked!
Katie B, you are my hero....what a fun event, great food, slurpilicous cocktails...it was an amazing event. I will surely be back here...it's a perfect place for lunch when shopping at the Beverly center.Listed in: Yelpilicious events!

I've refrained from writing about Yelp events for a while now as it has skewed my rating distribution for actual businesses, but this particular Yelp Elite event was worth adding a 5-star review to my profile for!
First of all, I am honored to have been confirmed attendance to this Elite event even though not (yet?) personally being amongst the crème de la crème of Elites with a golden badge on their profiles. Rubbing elbows with Elites who have several hundreds of reviews under their belts documenting years of flavors, textures + food trends is pretty inspiring. There are times when I feel like I can talk about restaurants + hotspots around LA all day, + it's amazing to be in a community of people who can not only match but exceed my excitement!
Just as equally exciting were the very impressive perks at this event... all complimentary!
Valet
Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail in a Yelp ice sculpture
Truffle Fries
Mini Beef Tenderloin with Sauteed Mushroom sandwiches
Creamy Lobster Roll sandwiches
Sliced Kona-crusted Sirloin
Stoli Doli cocktail of pineapple-infused vodka
The Bohemian cocktail similar to a bellini consisting of champagne, peach schnapps + raspberry
Grapefruit Soda
Open bar of any beer or wine in stock
Restaurant tours
Goody Bag including a Porcini steak rub, house-made truffles, a certificate for a free calamari appetizer, + a certificate to return for a complimentary lunch for 2
I heard there was Roasted Pepper Soup as well, but I didn't happen to grab any in all the bustle of all the other passed trays that came out so quickly. The service was phenomenal; trays upon trays of food kept coming out + empty dishes/glasses were swept away before we could even think to stack them. Props especially to our table's favorite waiter Stephen who was quick to grab drinks + modified food items for us based on dietary restrictions of people at the table.
I had been to The Capital Grille before prior to this event + had a lovely dinner experience with their steaks. This event experience has most definitely upped my opinions for the steakhouse, + now as I was lucky enough to win the raffle prize of lunch for a party of 6, it sure looks like I'll be back again for lunch! Yayyyy! I'm not sure whether it was my flush from the booze or my happiness as my business card was drawn from the bowl, but I was glowing for the whole rest of the afternoon... especially when Katie B even tweeted about me afterwards! https://twitter.com/#!... *heart* Definitely one of my favorite Yelp Elite events in a long time.
Thank you, Katie B.
And THANK YOU, CAPITAL GRILLE! I shall be seeing you again soon! =)Listed in: I went to a Yelp event then…

I rarely make it up to LA for any elite events, but for the Golden Elite Affair, I had to make the drive! I love TCG and have had several events here before. They always throw a good party that's for sure!
Was really good to see a bunch of people I knew: Kenny, Ben, Pete, Tim, Craig, Diana, Christina, Eimi, Roo, Bong and finally meet Tajira IRL.
Maybe they'll throw a Golden Elite event in OC next? Who knows.
Great seeing everyone! -

I only learned recently that there's an extra special perk for Yelpers with Elite status for 5+ consecutive years. Instead of a red badge, you get a shiny gold one. Plus, invitations to gold badge-only events! Fortunately for me, this one was opened up for a limited number of regular Elites.
The Capital Grille has got to be the fanciest venue for a Yelp event I've been to so far and it was downright fantastic! Valet parking was complimentary. As soon as we walked in, we were escorted to the spacious area upstairs reserved for the event. This was a white tablecloth establishment. After checking in with Katie B (thanks for including me!), the first thing I noticed besides all the nicely dressed Yelpers was the super-cool Yelp ice sculpture in the center of the room. It was surrounded by JUMBO SHRIMP and cocktail sauce. These were so fresh and thankfully not overdone like at so many places.
I was thrilled to finally hang out again with Marthie D and May W (and her dude), plus all of the other Yelpers who came by our table.
We enjoyed wonderful service throughout the event. Anytime one of the servers came by and saw we wanted something they went and hooked us up!
For drinks, there were a couple of refreshing cocktails (I preferred the sweet pink one), as well as a grapefruit soda.
For food, The Capital Grille treated us to offerings from their new quick and easy lunchtime Plates Menu - a choice of soup/salad, sandwich and side for $16. We sampled their ROASTED RED PEPPER SOUP (very nice and light), TENDERLOIN SLIDERS (a medium rare slice of tenderloin with porcini mushrooms on a sweet roll), LOBSTER ROLLS (big chunks of lobster and mixed greens on a sweet roll) and TRUFFLE FRIES (thick-cut, fried crisp and dusted with parsley and parmesan).
They also circulated some STEAK SKEWERS. There was plenty of food to go around...thanks so much for indulging us!
To top it off, The Capital Grille gave us gift bags with a jar of their porcini steak rub, delectable truffles and two gift cards - one good for complimentary PAN FRIED CALAMARI and the other one good for a complimentary LUNCH from their new three-course Plates menu for me and a guest! Wow. -

Can't rave enough about this event. It's probably one of most enjoyable Elite events I've been to, and they totally rolled out the red carpet for us. I mean, lobster, shrimp, beer...and did I mention the ice sculpture?
The afternoon started off wonderfully with a Delirium. Or two. Loved their beer selection, and you can bet that I was all over the Chimay once they ran out of Delirium.
The food was enjoyable, and I feel like The Capital Grille really outdid themselves. The shrimp were just massive, and the ice sculpture display for the shrimp cocktail had the Yelp logo on it. I mean, how cool is that? With colors and everything!
Their truffle fries are a pungent little bunch, and probably a win for a truffle oil fan. No tiny little shoestrings here...these are legitimate pommes frites. Both the lobster roll and the sliders were good, and I thought the tenderloin was nice and juicy.
I pretty much spent the event running around, trying to do everything. Watched the steak demonstration, which was cool. I loved smelling the different rubs, especially the Kona rub. It has decaf Kona coffee and cocoa powder, among other things. Sounds kind of weird, I know. But I was surprised at how good it smelled! Did the tour, which led us to the different rooms at The Capital Grille. They have these smaller rooms that have flatscreens in them, and you get to use them if you reserve the room. I thought it was really interesting that the portraits they have hanging around the restaurant are actually of historically influential people in the local community. This means that every Capital Grille location has different portraits and decor. I didn't even know that Wilshire was named after an actual person, but now I know what he looks like!
Loved the event, and I love love loved the little gift bags we got in the end. I mean, so much swag. I really liked how we received both vouchers and physical little gifts for instant gratification. Plus the truffles, oh man. I like chocolate, but I don't really like chocolate truffles and I could pretty much write a sonnet about how good these truffles are.
I actually ended up at the event on a bit of a fluke, and boy am I glad to have gotten that "You're In" email for this one. I had a great time, and props to Katie as always for such an enjoyable, well organized event. And a big thanks to The Capital Grille and their staff! -
Review from Monica C.
This was my first official yelp elite event, as an elite! I know, what a first event to attend right?
Despite the long valet lines, my name not being on the guest list for some reason (I swear I got the confirmation!), lack of seating, I still had a great time meeting and mingling with everyone! I have to admit I was a little hesitant to come alone at first and was secretly hoping they'd decide to let us bring a +1, but it turned out to be perfectly fine because everyone was super friendly!
The event was held at the upstairs terrace area of Capital Grille so we had our own section completed with a bar. They had a giant yelp ice sculpture and there was an incessant amount of appetizers being passed around the entire time. I got to try the jumbo shrimp, lobster roll, and capital grille's signature grapefruit soda. I didn't have any alcohol myself, but from what I heard, it was basically open bar too.
At the end of the event, we were all also given a goodie bag from Capital Grille, and included inside was truffles, a jar of porcini steak rub, a free appetizer card, and best of all: free lunch for two!
Also, can't forget, special shout outs to: Angie W., Andrew F., Laura S., Ellerton W., Andre N., & of course, Katie B.! It was great to meet you all! (Sorry if I forgot anyone!)
Thank you Yelp & CG for the great time! -

First of all, I felt very honored to be part of such an amazing event filled with beautiful people. I, unlike some of my fellow red badge Yelpers, did read the details carefully and did not rsvp for this event. I was pleasantly surprised when Katie B. announced the event was now open to all elites and I put myself on the waiting list...not really thinking I would get confirmed...but I did! :) I enjoyed rubbing elbows with the GOLDEN crowd and I look forward to being a part of this squad in 2015 :D
I could tell this event was going to be classy from the moment I arrived. Free valet and the guys were VERY nice and courteous. Asked me how my day was, when I left they asked how the event had gone. Valet is always free so tip them well, they work hard. I walked in and as I made my way through the restaurant the managers and other staff were more than happy to greet me and guide me up the stairs to the terrace where the event was being held. I signed in, got my name tag on and was ready to try some food.
I was instantly drawn to the Yelp ice sculpture in the middle of the room. I don't know what was bigger, the shrimp or the sculpture. I think they were lobster claws disguised as shrimp because they were huge and so meaty, I must of had like 8. The RED PEPPER SOUP was delicious, I tried it hot and cold (not sure if that was intentional) but both versions had great flavor. The MINI TENDERLOIN was my favorite, came with mushrooms and was a piece of heaven in my mouth. The LOBSTER ROLL was good, a bit runny, good thing I had a plate. The TRUFFLE FRIES were finger licking good. I liked that they were large size fries and not shoe string.
The cocktails were also very, very tasty and had me holding on to the rail on my way back down the stairs =O) I enjoyed their non-alcoholic beverage which was grapefruit and club soda...very refreshing. Let's talk liquor now, WOW...the BOHEMIAN was something to rave about. Bubbly, refreshing, and had me smiling the entire event. The STOLI DOLI was also good...I love vodka and pineapple juice!
I also took a tour of the restaurant and learned some interesting facts about the establishment. The space is beautiful, with the wine cellar, the kitchen, and the private dining rooms. I would love to celebrate a birthday here. I also loved that all staff has a personal business card and you can call in and request a specific waiter for your dining experience. I have to give mention to SERENA B. for being an amazing waitress that evening and to JASON for being the most personable bartender I've ever encountered!
I have to give shout outs to the yelpers that really made this a fun experience...Betty N., Limzer, Paul K. Jennifer N., Linda T., and of course Katie B. Thank you to The Capital Grille for hosting such and amazing event and for the gift bags which included a FREE lunch for two, free appetizer, chocolate truffles, and the chef's steak seasoning with personal note. That really was a nice surprise. I'm looking forward to retuning very soon! :)Listed in: Help! I'm addicted to Yelp!

The Good: So much good going on here today. Capital Grille open their doors, bar and kitchen for us. Great food like sliders, lobster rolls, beef skewers and truffle fries. I'm sure everybody has talked about the amazing ice sculpture with the Yelp logo. Free valet parking and a sweet gift bag with a certicate for 2 to come back and try the new quick lunches. The ladies of Yelp were looking good as well, they sure did dress to impress, because I was like wow is this a Yelp event?
The Bad: Traffic!!! Argh.....I left good old Santa Monica to escape the traffic and the Beverly Center is located in a traffic infested area.
The Ben: Thanks to Katie for the first ever Gold Elite party(?) with Brit, Christina and Yelp. The Capital Grille for the food, drinks and venue. Great to see so many new Yelpers, I was a bit gun shy because everybody dressed so well, but I do better next time :D Say "Hi" I promise I'm a friendly guy :P -

So THAT'S what the Gold Badge means!
A stellar Event, with an overall vibe of OMG, this is awesome. From the complimentary valet to the Ice ScYELPture, we walked into quite the Oasis. The opening salvo of Shrimp Cocktail -- thick, crisp, perfect -- followed quickly by some house speciality drinks (The Stoli Doli, the Bohemian) kept the boat on a course that never strayed far from fabulous.
Caps off to The Capital Grille (who will get their own review). This felt like a bold stroke of generosity and thoughtfulness to present Yelp with this Afternoon Delight of a party. They really went all out -- and it strikes me as the work of a confident, powerful and artistic organization that can and did pull it off. They're trumpeting their new Plates Menu for lunch, and they made a helluva argument in favor! And their parting gift bags were a knock-out blow. When they say they can do parties, they're not kidding.
Now back in the day when I first saw the Gold Elite Badge appear on my profile, I didn't know what to think about it. But if something like this Affair is indicative of anything, man, am I thrilled to be a part of this. This all appealed to my (not so inner) Foodie.
Loved the Executive Chef's Brent J.'s demonstation about their prep and the cuts of beef; enjoyed the tour of the restaurant by Erin O's. The staff was outstanding, too. They delivered a great many variety of dishes with a great amount of speed and efficiency--- without breaking a sweat. They're professional, yet personable. Just how I'd like to be when I grow up.
Loved the food: Lobster Rolls, yum. Tenderloin Sliders, oh yes. I even enjoyed the Truffle Fries --- and happily, they weren't too heavy on either the parmesan or the truffle oil. And the slices of beef, marinated, were simply something I think I could live on.
It was a pleasure to hang with my friend Lucy Y., and to meet a few new Yelpers. Great to see Katie B., relaxed and friendly as always. Thanks to her, The Capital Grille and all my fellow Yelpers (especially my fellow Gold Badge Elites)! -

WOW!! As the year moves on, The yelp events gets better and better!
I felt like one of those contestants from Oprah Winfrey show, gifts, more gifts and more gifts given out to us! Here is food, drinks, more food, and gifts and more gifts were given to us!
I was so lucky to get an A -ok to join this event although I'm not a Golden badge holder! No plus one,so I walked into this event a bit nervous.. lol Upon checking in, seeing Katie B's angelic face always calms me down a bit. haha! Luckily immediately got to meet a new friend, sweet Catherine C whom I mingled throughout the event.
The restaurant was absolutely savy. The event was held upstairs and the entire up stair was closed off just for the yelp event!
The Ice Sculpture of Yelp was so awesome! I loved how they used it also for the HUGE shrimp cocktail to cool it ! Private tour of the restaurant and cooking show was provided for us.
Here's the list... First off, FREE Valet parking!
Buckets and Buckets of Truffle fries, lobster roll slider, sirloin steak slider, full bar, even a grapefruit non alcoholic cocktail. And to be those HUGE Prawns just took my breathe away. So crunchy and fresh.. and so much of it!!!
Besides their GENEROUS food and drinks at the event, The Capital Grille was TOO generous by giving each of us a gift bag with a jar of seasoning for our home cook steak, a small box of chocolate truffles, AND... a gift certificate for Yelpers and a guest to come back for their 3- course Lunch!.... and a free platter of their Calamari!!
What a pleasant event as I got to meet a few yelp members, Cynthia A, Catherine C, Judy T. and a Gold badger x2!!!... Dave A. !!
Always wonderful to see Sophia W. Wish I had more time with her.
Congratulations to all the Golden Badge Elite and I'm hoping and looking forward for mine next year! :-P
What an incredible event and on a Weekend!! Thank you so much Katie B. and The Capital Grille for making our, MY best Sunday!!Listed in: My Hot date with YELP! Elites,…

Review from Adam B.
First of it's kind event mainly just for Gold Elite. Oh, what's a Gold Elite you ask? It's for Yelpers who have been Elite for at least five years or more. So it's a very small and exclusive club. The advantage to that is unlike other Yelp events that can get very crowded and crazy, this was more intimate. The Capital Grille was certainly a classy enough place for this to occur. Far cry from this location's previous incarnation when it was the Hard Rock just a couple of years ago. Yea, no loose meat sandwiches on this menu.
But something almost as messy. The Lobster 'Roll' or should I say Lobster Bun because that's basically what it was. A slider version of a classic New England Lobster Roll. It was dripping mayo and who knows what else all over the floor and I felt embarrassed just holding it. Just not the right sandwich to befit a place like this. Must be the Red Lobster connection via the company parent, Darden International.
The Cocktail Shrimp on the Yelp ice sculpture were big and meaty. A much better choice. Never did get the Waygu Sliders in my direction and for awhile I thought Lobster Rolls were all I was going to get. Fortunately, with about a half hour to go along came the Tenderloin sliders and the Sliced, Crusted Sirloin. Now we're talking. Beef is what this place should do best and this delivered on taste and execution. The Truffle Fries were almost perfect, Fresh and hot which were thick but not steak fries thick. Just well executed fried potato and the only problem was it was definitely too much on the salty side.
As for drinks, it was pretty much an open bar. They pushed their signature drinks but I found the Stoli Doli was too citrus-y and not strong enough and the non-alcoholic grapefruit soda also didn't provide the flavor I was looking for. Fortunately, they had a decent bottled beer selection. What? You have Delirium Tremens? And it's complimentary? Why thank you for allowing me to escape the fru-fru drink zone. Only thing is they just opened up a bottle and handed it to me. Uh, you ever heard about pouring? This isn't Bud Light at Hooters here. I mean, Longhorn Steakhouse! Got to keep it in the Darden family! Still, this should've been poured in a nice tulip shaped glass. It's just not the same gulping it out of a bottle. There is a science to good beer drinking, you know.
They tried to have a chef's demonstration on steak preparation. However, they failed to mic the chef so I couldn't hear anything. My girlfriend, who was up real close, also couldn't hear anything either. It was just a poorly executed idea.
Now onto the gift bags! Oh, yes. Us Gold Elites are worthy enough of some pre-Oscar gifts, aren't we? Sure we are! So we got a jar of steak rub, two chocolate truffles in a case that more resembled a soap dish than chocolate packaging and coupon for a free Calamari appetizer and most importantly, a card for lunch for 2 from anything off of their new menu! With no expiration date! Well done, Darden! And well done Yelp too for the great event and six+ years Yelp away on this site. -

Yelp's latest endeavor, A Golden Elite Affair, was solid! First of all, who doesn't love free valet in LA?! Way to go, Capital Grille!! :) Sure, the line was a bit long, but considering how there was pretty much only one guy running the show, I'd say we got our cars parked quickly! The dude must be Superman or something.
It was nice catching up with Yelp friends, old and new. We took so many pictures, shared many laughs and inside jokes, and chowed down on some fine sliders, shrimp cocktail, and seasoned steak strips. We were in Yelp Heaven!
Thank you to Katie B. for putting this together! And a quicky shout out to Christina Y.!! :) -

This was packed. Filled with veterans and newbies. I'm kinda a newbie... two yearer! :D So I did know a lot but not everyone.
The food was great. The soup was served - tomato bisque soup... SO good. In a tea cup! :D There was shrimp cocktails... always a plus!
The drinks were great! I loved the girly drinks the bartenders made! Awesome!
Just overall... fun social networking gathering!

First off, This event was amazing! At first I was upset to here that this event was only open to gold Elite badge members but as soon as it was announced that gold badge members can invite a plus 1 I was jumping for joy.
I've just recently moved to the West LA area so it was great to meet and network with fellow Yelpers. The Capital Grille is beautiful! As soon as I walked in I was amazed on how elegant and upscale the restaurant was. The host was very friendly and greeted me with a smile. He escorted me upstairs to the Yelp Event and I must say that the set up was very impressing.
A Yelp ice sculpture? How freakin' cool is that?! Lol, I felt the ambiance of how cool it is to be an Elite Yelper. I was greeted by Katie with a hug and a smile! Shrimp cocktails were fresh and delicious. As soon as I found a seat I put on the super cool F.U.C. 'Em shades and collected two Yelp shot glasses ;)
The sliders were amazing! First, I indulged myself with the seasoned garlic fries and the rib eye steak sliders! Mmm Mmm Good! The cocktails to accompany the appetizers were great. My favorite was the Stoli Doley's... until I found out that beer was part of the complimentary cocktails for the evening.
The lobster sliders were ok. The lobster was a bit fishy so I couldn't eat more than one. The servers were nice and so were the bartenders. The people I've met tonight were pretty cool and amazing to chat with. Alot of networking and friend making was done tonight and I definitely appreciate Yelp for the help.
Overall, great event! definitely for my first Elite event experience in California. I cant wait to attend more in the future. -
Review from Craig R.
Thanks to the generosity of yelp I was invited to The Capital Grille this past Sunday. Once seated, attentive servers came around with samples from their awesome new lunch menu:
Cocktail Shrimp - These were not your average shrimp. They were like baby lobsters! Fresh and perfectly chilled.
Lobster Rolls - chunks of fresh lobster and mixed field greens. The lobster was fresh and sweet but I do not think the Brioche roll compliments the lobster.
Tenderloin Sliders - with wild mushrooms and Boursin cheese. Damn good slider but had the same bun as the lobster roll. I was carbed-out by then.
Kona-Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin sliders w/ Shallots and Butter - we were very impressed with the flavors of this dish - the shallots and creamy butter sauce was instantly addictive - I wanted to pick up my plate and lick it.
Parmesan Truffle Fries: hot and crispy with a subtle truffle aftertaste.
Roasted Red Pepper Soup - Nice but not a big fan. Has a subtle red pepper flavor.
Stoli Doli - Capital Grille has pineapple flown in from Hawaii and it is sliced and put into a large, glass jar. The jar is then filled with Stoli vodka and left to sit for seven days. The result is is a bland pineapple taste. I felt bad because the CG put so much energy into promoting it but I did not care for this drink. It was not refreshing at all.
The Bohemian - Absolut Peach Vodka, Cordial, a splash of champagne, and two fresh raspberries. Sparkling, spectacular, and waiting for you at The Capital Grille bar.I could knock back a few dozen Bohemian's.
The food, service and ambiance were very good! I am looking forward to my next visit. All in all, a nice meal in a classic joint.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Here are a couple reasons why the event at the Capital Grille rocked:
1. Drinks were awesome. Cocktails, beer, and even a delicious non-alcoholic grapefruit drink.
2. Crowd was awesome. It was good catching up with the OGs that I haven't seen around in a while.
3. Delicious tenderloin sliders, lobster roll (sliders), truffle fries, skewers
4. There was a Yelp ice sculpture for the cocktail shrimp display!! That thing was awesome.
5. The beautiful CMs hosting the event and the awesome Capital Grille staff.
6. Goodie bags filled with a nice steak rub, truffles, and a certificate for a free lunch!
Classy venue, good food, and even better service. -
Review from Ada L.
This was probably the only time that RSVPing late for an elite event worked out to my advantage (otherwise I wouldn't have RSVPed since this event was originally for gold badges only). Lots of thanks to Katie B. for opening up the event to all elites!
The Capital Grille has yummy food, delicious drinks, and great service. I didn't get a chance to try out all the food that was served, but I liked the tenderloin sliders and especially the sliced steak. I normally stay away from vodka, but I really enjoyed the Stoli Doli.
Service was great! The entire staff was friendly and the bartender was quick. I took one of the short tours of the restaurant--the private dining rooms looked amazing and so did the wine kiosk.
On top of serving all the food and drinks, the restaurant gave everyone gift bags, which contained chocolate truffles, a jar of their porcini rub, a voucher for a free plate of fried calamari, and a voucher for a complimentary lunch for two. This was definitely the best gift bag I ever received.
I'm glad I got to spend my Sunday afternoon meeting new people and enjoying great food and drinks. Thanks again to Katie B. for hosting this event!Listed in: Yelp Events

Review from Paul K.
Apparently, I posted this review under another listing for the same event (that nobody else posted in), so here goes a rewrite (and 15 pictures to boot).
This was a fun event. Being my first Yelp Elite event, I had a blast meeting new people (Limzer, Betty N., Cynthia A, Katie B, and those I didn't mention).
Sampling the various drink creations at Capital Grille was interesting, although I will note that they weren't really full of flavor (despite their artful physical appearance). Learning about how they age their steak, their premier program (which provides VIP service and a personal wine locker and waiving of the corkage fee) was informative.
Now on to why this gets 4 stars - while the staff was delightful (which gets 5 stars), the food selection was rather sparse. Additionally, I was pretty sure I heard that a tour of the food prep areas would be given, and only a brief tour was given of the restaurant (which was really more of a marketing speech). The tour also wasn't overly exciting either (but then the alcohol consumption probably didn't help things either).
That issue aside, this was definitely a kickass event with a kickass group. Thank you to Yelp and Katie B. for putting all this on. Now I know to bring a kickass camera next time.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

There were lobster rolls?! Damn.
This is an awesome venue. Very elegant, lots of natural light, great views of the area. Bartenders were on top of things as well. And the complementary valet did a spectacular job not over-revving my manual transmission, a rarity.
Delicious bites of sliced steak. Very tender and juicy! Good steak mini-burgers as well.
Fantastic selection of (free) beers. That's right, this guy got the last bottle of Delirium, in the signature stone-looking bottle. Also grabbed some Guinness and Sam Adams Winter Ale. All good choices if I don't say so myself.
Great to meet some new faces! Andre, Shannon, Monica, Jessica, Michael, and some other names that elude memory. Good to see my homie Laura as well as Matt, Harmonie, Jin, and Superman (Andrew).
Big up to Katie B! -
Review from Andre N.
What? Andre writes a review at a yelp elite event the same day? Thats Crazy talk. Well I guess I enjoyed myself at this event that I felt worthwhile to write. Two words, made this event fantastic - Open Bar. Yes and not just any drinks, but great premium belgium beers like Chimay, Delirium and good old fashion Sam Adams. No PBR here! Yup I was a kid in a candy store.
Also it was a great of the Staff and owners of The Capital Grille to allow us to valet for free and of course letting the 5 year Gold Badge yelpers (though I only new a couple and met some) and us Red Badge yelper. What made the event great too was the yelpers itself, everyone is always easy to talk to whether you know them or not and its always great talking with Andrew F, Laura S, Ellerton W, etc...
Oh yeah forgot about the food. Loved the giant shrimp surrounding the giant Yelp Ice Sculpture, that was classy. We also took a couple risque photos with it too. I ate several of those bad boys. Tried the Lobster with mayo sandwich. Now to be honest, i hate mayo, but I ate it anyways, it was good, thought I think it would enjoy it more if it had some kind of hot sauce or salsa instead of the mayo. Only got to try the sirloin burger once, but it was quite tasty in all its sirloinness. Truffle Fries were quite divine, as I couldnt just eat one. Sliced Steak, also quite good and cheated and grabbed two.
So thank you Capital Grill for inviting us and letting us indulge in your food and open bar and thank you Katie B for setting it up. Vaya con dios! -

Review from Monica O.
I had never been or heard of this restaurant until I came here for the Golden Elite Yelp Event this past Sunday. The Capital Grille restaurant is decorated nicely and very classy. It has two levels the Elite event was upstairs which had large windows all along which brought in light and a semi-nice view, also they have a full bar upstairs. There is another full bar downstairs with a good size bar sitting area.
The staff was very friendly and oh so helpful. Jason the bartender attending us was really nice, talkative, friendly, and best of all very attentive. They has the most delicious drinks my favorite was one called The Bohemian. There were samples of their new delish menu. The cocktail shrimp were great the shrimp were huge, the lobster rolls were fresh and tasty. And best of all the Tenderloin sliders were so good! Overall excellent food, drinks, and staff. I'll be back =) -
Review from Amanda G.
When Katie B said The Capital Grille was showing us their Sunday best - she definitely meant it! I've never been to a Yelp event, let alone an Elite event - so when I got the chance to sign up I was more than excited. It was great meeting fellow foodies and Yelpers; it's such a warm and welcoming community and I'm so proud to be part of it!
The second I walked up the staircase I knew I was in for a treat - right in the center of the room was an extravagant ice sculpture filled with delish shrimp cocktail and great house sauce. Not knowing anyone at the beginning, I chose a table with a view in the front which was great for people watching, and to boot - the patio at the Capital Grille seems like stellar eating the summer months!
The staff came around with their house specialty drinks - the Stoli Doli (their signature drink: vodka infused in pineapple for seven days. Yummy!) and the Bohemian - and if that wasn't good enough for us, they had an open bar with Chimay and Delirium (!). For our food options, there were delicious truffle fries (so much win), a roasted red pepper soup, lobster rolls and mini tenderloin burgers.
Between the new friends, fabulous food and dank drinks - I was over the moon with excitement; a wonderfully planned event - a huge thank you Katie and The Capital Grille staff! -

Yelp events can't get any better than this OR can it?!
I don't have a gold elite badge and was really quite envious when I found out about this event. But luckily, I was notified that there was room for those without a gold badge and was invited to attend.
I showed up late due to an unfortunate ironing accident so by the time I arrived the shrimp from the Yelp ice sculpture was pretty much gone but I was able to sample the Red Pepper soup, Lobster roll, Steak sliders, Truffle fries, and Sirloin Skewers and boy were they delicious! Its too bad that they only served small portions of each because I was craving for more after each bite! I swear I could gobble down that entire tray of Sirloin Skewers and Lobster rolls if I could :P.
The entire staff from the servers to the bartenders were so incredibly welcoming and friendly. They even offered a tour of the restaurant for us! They sure made us feel like VIP guests! Did I also mention we walked away with special gift bags in which they included another free lunch for two?!
Overall, I had a great time mingling with my fellow yelpers. We picture whored like crazy since we were told to dress in our "Sunday Best" and so of course all the girls came looking all primped and primed. :) Thanks again Katie B. for organizing yet ANOTHER amazing event! I seriously can't imagine being more spoiled by Yelp but who knows what Katie might have under her sleeves? -

Just wanted to throw in a quick review of the service and food we experienced here for the Golden Elite event we just attended via Yelp yesterday.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, very intimate and classy. The service was outstanding, each person from the Valet, to the bartender, to the servers were extremely friendly and approachable. The management provided us with private tours of the restaurant and a cool steak demonstration.
The food was just excellent. Tried several new "plates" Kona steak, truffle fries, lobster rolls, a roasted red pepper soup, tenderloin burgers and giant shrimp. Each plate was delicious.
I'm excited to come back and try it all again :)Listed in: Yelp me if you can!

Thank you Yelp and The Capital Grille! You guys seriously pulled out your Sunday best for us!!
The event was held at the upstairs terrace which gives you a nice view of the town. Once I got to the top of the staircase, I was greeted by Katie B.'s warm smile! Next thing that caught my attention was the huge yelp ice sculpture that was holding piles and piles of GIANT cocktail shrimp...given the size of them, I would call them prawns!
The event was to promote The Capital Grille's new "plates" lunch, so we got to sample some of the dishes that will be on the new lunch menu. Food was AMAZING!
I loved the TENDERLOIN SLIDERS...cooked to a perfect medium rare. Buns were warm and toasted. The LOBSTER ROLL was great as well...giant whole pieces of lobster meat. The PORCINI FRIES were delicious...you can smell the fragrance of the porcini when they brought out baskets of the stuff for us (almost on par with truffle fries). The sliced KONA CRUSTED STEAK were absolutely divine. I loved how The Capital Grille was definitely not skimping out on the food. Towards the end of the event, people were actually saying no to the passed trays of food because they were so full already!
Drinks were delicious...especially their signature drinks. The peach vodka + champagne + a raspberry was delicious...forgot what it was called though.
The people were amazing. Got to meet fellow elite members that I have not met before, saw some old friends. Loved the whole atmosphere of great food and great people.
What made the event even more amazing were the gift bags provided by The Capital Grille. There were a box of chocolate truffles, a jar of their signature porcini steak rub, a coupon for a free order of calamari, AND a FREE lunch for me and a guest to try out their actual new "plates" lunch!
Free valet was just icing on the cake!
Glad I was able to take part in such a wonderful event when Katie B. opened it up to fellow red badge elites! -
Review from Linda T.
We were treated incredibly at this event. The staff is so classy, and accommodating!
As you walk in the decor, and the presentation of the hosts and hostesses immediately give an upscale vibe, what it doesn't give is needless pretentiousness.
They guided us to the second floor that have large windows curving along the outer wall that shows nice view of the mid-city. The drinks were delicious had a cabernet and a bohemian (their take on a Bellini) and it was not only beautiful but sumptuously delicious! Those things are dangerous! ;)
Our bartender Jason was the best, very attentive and full of witty remarks. Great time at the Capital Grill, will be back soon! -
Review from Tajira M.
I have to say, I was SO EXCITED for this event. Huge thanks to Yelp and Capital Grille for making the goldens feel special. Special shout out to Katie B -- Girl, you are AWESOME!!!
((hugs to Craig R. for being my +1 -- total VIP anytime he's around))
The food was wonderful (see pics). Capital Grille was featuring some of their new "Plates" lunch menu, and it's definitely worth a try! There were a couple of items that were not featured that I wish we could have tried (they said something about a wagyu burger with crispy onions... mmmm). Mini lobster rolls, beef tenderloin rolls with porcini mushrooms, there was sirloin on a skewer with a shallot sauce that was just amazing. Truffle fries, jumbo shrimp (that were perfect) as a part of a huge ice sculpture display, roasted red pepper soup. There were cocktails specific to the restaurant; one drink had Stoli vodka and pineapple, the other had Absolut Peach, champagne, a liquer and a big, beautiful raspberry.
Capital Grille offered tours of the various private dining rooms, as well as a chef demo of the different cuts of meat and rubs made at the restaurant. The servers were super friendly, and Serena was very attentive to our table.
It was a pleasure to FINALLY meet Anita L. -- so glad to see you in person for once!
Oh, and the swag... awesome. -

My AMX Gold Card can't compete with Yelp Gold. Think 5 years + of UFC'n and reviewing with a diligence unheard of in any unpaid job.
Why persevere? Because it takes you away from whatever it is that bores you and/or pays the rent, it's what you do.
AND there are rewards. A "Gold" badge juxtaposed to your fading "Reds". "ROTD's" because your take is THE definitive word. And a recognition event such as this...
I'm not "Gold" but by the grace of Yelp gods. I got "in" to rub elbows with real, true Yelp royalty. So what's it like to do so? These are some way smart, dedicated peeps. I'm in appropriate awe and cultivating my aspirations.
Just rewards. Complimentary valet parking, like when does that happen in LA? Gracious greeting from Capital Grille staff. Samplings from their customize-your-lunch "Plates" menu http://www.thecapitalg... and creative mixology to shed my Sunday-night-tomorrow's-a-"school day"-anxiety.
The "Meat 101" lesson gave me courage to try the Porcini Rub Capital Grille's chef slipped into our swag bags.
Erin O'Mara's restaurant tour from private dining rooms to wine kiosk and lockers was warm, genuine, informative.
Being here this afternoon was my perk for sitting through a day and a half of continuing education, being able to wear finery tucked way back in my closet, reminiscent of how I used to live in an easier, kinder, more financially friendly time. Today was respite from my daily doldrums; it was gold for me, such a treat...
Merci Katie B. for your tireless, impeccable event coordination, signature hugs, and for who you are!
Christina Y. it was wonderful to reconnect with you! Michael C., and Tony Y. Jr. Y., ditto : )
