EXCELLENT Dentist.
My girlfriend had a chipped tooth and they scheduled an appointment the same day. They performed the procedure very quickly and with great care.
The prices are extremely affordable and the billing process is a very reasonable one.
BEST DENTIST AROUND. -

I would have loved to experience the said wonders of McClure's office, but I couldn't get past the stage of appointment set-up with the front desk. I called to inquire about my dental case, which is somewhat complicated and involves fixing the mistakes done by a previous dentist. After attempting contact on their website message correspondence several times, I finally called. I asked Judy several questions on the phone, in which she seemed impatient and was very-off putting! I am a very mild-mannered girl, so it was difficult for me to continue asking. She tried to schedule me for an all-comprehensive exam, saying she couldn't answer my questions and after a 200 $ comprehensive exam, the doctor would be able to answer my questions better after. While that makes some sense, I quickly explained I had been scammed previously and only wanted to commit to another dentist if he was able to upgrade the terrible veneers I had. I asked for an appointment for a free consultation, and Judy asked if she could call me tomorrow, that they were busy and finishing up with other patients. She did not ask for a time to call or anything, so when she decided to call the next day, I was busy and missed it. I found this again, unprofessional and with a seeming disregard for those who are not willing to fork out 200 to commit to a dentist who is not guaranteed to do the job asked. When I called Friday (the next day) a different receptionist answered and I was excited, hoping to finally schedule. I asked to schedule a free 15 min consultation, and she said they didn't really do free consultations but could schedule me for the $200 comprehensive exam. When I declined, and explained my situation, she told me to call Monday through Thursday to speak to Judy, since I had specific requests. What?? I am completely baffled. It says free consultations available on their website, and the whole ringer process really disappointed! McClure may be amazing, but his front desk staff are less so.

When it comes to going to the dentist, I am a freak of the week. I don't want to bore anyone with details of my dental horrors but needless to say, I get super anxiety just thinking about going to the dentist.
I had a root canal done and to show you how pleasant that was, I actually laughed a couple times during! Dr McClure is really informative about the process and what he is doing. This appeals to me because I like to watch stuff like Forensic Files..Anne was a great assistant and kept things running smoothly. Judy in the front is super organized and professional.
They have a new office location around the corner from their older, smaller location. Everything is brand new and state of the art. Really lovely. New location is 525 Center Street, Santa Cruz, CA -

My previous dentist no longer accepted my dental insurance, so I was forced to find a new dentist at the last minute. I was able to make an emergency dental appointment within 20 minutes of my initial phone call to Dr. McClure's office. The appointment went very well, and I left feeling no pain at all. My subsequent dental appointments were just as enjoyable as the first.
I could not ask for a better dentist. Dr. McClure is personable, knowledge, highly skilled, and humorous. Judy, the receptionist, is extremely helpful and kind. Dr. McClure's dental assistants make you feel comfortable without compromising their professionalism.
Fun Fact: You can listen to music while they do the dental work! -

Let me start by saying that I am not a huge fan of visiting the dentist!! Had a VERY bad experience in my childhood. So over the years my visits have been far and few between. So it wouldn't take a genius to figure that I have some oral issues....
My last dentist, who I saw for a number of years and absolutely loved retired. How dare he, RIGHT? So I kinda dragged my feet a bit in searching for a new one. Until I met Dr. McClure it had been a VERY, VERY, VERY long time. I had various oral issues that needed immediate attention.
Everyone is so warm, friendly and very professional, from the receptionist (Judy) to the hygenist, assistants and not least Dr. McClure.
Today was I believe my fourth or fifth visit and each time I am amazed at how dedicated, personable and outgoing everyone in the office is. I think because of my experience as a child I will always have some sort of anxiety when it comes to visiting the dentist. But once I a have been in the office for a few moments all of that just goes away. As another reviewer said, I will never go to another dentist and I too wont. Thanks Ann for holding my hand... LOL : @) You are all truly amazing.

My experience here is what makes Yelp great for me. I needed a dentist after running away from a scam artist who called himself a dentist, and searched Yelp to see what people were saying. This place got 5 stars, so I gave it a shot - they really deserve it. Great service, DETAILED EXPLANATIONS, courteous, professional, and high quality - definitely recommend!

I just started going to Dr. McClure this year. After loving my last dentist, Dr. McClure had big shoes to fill. I've gone to a few dentists in Santa Cruz and Dr. McClure's the best! First, the receptionists are great and seemed to remember me after just one visit. They worked really well with my schedule to get me fit in.
Dr. McClure himself is SOOO nice! After the first visit he left a lasting impression. He was very thorough, took xrays, and even explained some procedures I might have to get done in the future. I could tell he knew a lot and complimented my teeth a lot, which helped.
I came back about a week or two later to get a cavity filled. The procedure was painless and I got to listen to Prince (my CD of choice out of a book of hundreds of CD's) on headphones the entire time, which is nice.
My entire family goes here now and we all love it! -

I have been going to Dr.McClure for 10 years now. He and his staff are personable, heck they even have a sense of humor. I have even sent a friend there who had not been to a dentist in 5 years because she was nervous about the whole dentist experience. And yes, she loved Dr. McClure et al.

I can't comment on Dr McClure's skill as a dentist, but I can tell you that the woman who answers the phone is so off-putting that we won't be scheduling any appointments there! I've called a few times to ask about which insurance they take and a few other related questions. She should probably think about a job that doesn't involve talking to other people, because she seems irritated at the world. When I asked "why isn't this doctor a preferred provider with ANY insurance?" (i've never heard of such a thing before", her response was "um (snotty tone), because we don't WANT to!". Cool, I will be going elsewhere! Very unprofessional.

The new office space is lovely and more spacious with additional slots for hygienists. It has it's own private parking spaces too!

I recently went to Gavin's office to update a composite repairing a chipped tooth I'd had for many years. This is the 4th dentist I'd seen in the past 10 years and by far the best.
Sitting in Dr. McClure's dental chair is akin to visiting a dental spa, with little pillows to make you more comfortable, music and goggles to protect you eyes. His chair side manner is unmatched. I did not even feel his shots to numb my mouth before the procedures. -

Dr. McClure is great. I hate everything about going to the dentist, but my experience with his practice has been great. He's knowledgable and professional, but very nice and funny also. Instead of nagging me about flossing old fashioned style, he managed to make a joke about it, which put me at ease right away. His hygenists are very attentive and awesome. I would recommend Dr. McClure to anyone.

I will never go to a dentist other than Dr. McClure. He and everyone who works with him are professional, competent, and fun people with great bedside manners.
One example of why I will never stray: I had a regular exam at the end of the workday. I had been thinking about having my upper wisdom teeth removed, and I knew I wanted to do it sooner rather than later. As I am leaving my appointment, Dr. McClure says to me "Hey, want to just take them out right now?" It was simple, quick, and easy. I was out the door in under an hour. And I really appreciated that Dr. McClure was willing to fit me in at the end of his day, even though I'm sure he had more exciting things to do with his evening.
I recommend Dr. McClure to all my friends who are looking for a new dentist. -

Best dentist I have ever had! Dr. McClure's office doesn't even accept my new insurance, but I don't care. I would rather pay out of pocket for quality care than go with an in network dentist I don't know or trust. Gavin McClure is the best!

Let me tell you I not only hate going to get my teeth messed with but I am terrified as well. Gavin McClure is very understanding. He takes his time to make sure you are comfortable. Everyone is very friendly and sweet I will even go back with out waiting until I'm in terrible pain. If you are afraid like me you should go to him. Even if you are not afraid he is really good!!
