Love this place.
Staff is helpful and knowledgeable about products for both dogs and cats.
Selection is small but quality of goods is high so it removes a lot of the guesswork from in-store product evaluation.
Prices are good as well. Much better prices than other boutique pet stores but not quite what you get from the larger chains.
You're doing yourself and your pet, whom you claim to love, a disservice by going to another store. -

The store has never been affected by a food recall because the owner only sells the best food products, and she stays informed.
The store's name is a somewhat of a misnomer because it stocks at least as many cat food items as dog food items. It also stocks food for other animals.
The store offers a very large selection of Martingale collars
http://en.wikipedia.or...
that the owner sews herself. I discovered them on my own. They are on the back wall on the left side of the cash register.
The store also sells the best dogbeds that I have ever bought. They are made in the USA, and they are made using consumer-recycled products.
It finally dawned on me that my dogs kept destroying my couches because they were trying to create a nest. So far, my dogs have been so satisfied by their new dog beds that they have quit vandalizing in order to create a nest.
The beds are expensive compared to cheap dog beds, but inexpensive compared to a couch. -

Been a while since I updated this review. They have now added self-service dog washing facilites in the back of the store which I have not tried yet, but they look awesome. You can also get hand made collars and doggy coats in a wide variety of designs and fabrics. Still 5 star and the best pet shop in town.

Wish they had a bigger selection, but aside from that, the person behind the register was super helpful and very nice. I bought some treats and medicated soup for my dog. The patrons were also very kind - i have a mean little dog and he got growly but they were nice about it and did not shun me as an awful dog parent, but instead apologized for approaching him. Will definitely come back for treats for my baby.

This place is amazing.
Lori (the owner) not only really knows her stuff, but is also SUPER picky about what she carries. She investigates everything from what's in the food and where it comes from, to where the food is made, and even the company's politics. When I see something that looks great and isn't carried at A Dog's Dream, I know there's a damn good reason why. I also know I can trust everything in the shop.
There's a great selection of toys, treats, and supplies. I pretty much never leave with just one thing, and my dogs are always thrilled. I have several intense chewers and have had great luck finding toys that they DON'T destroy at this shop. I don't even bother buying toys from the big chains anymore.
A few months back they installed a self wash in the back, which is GREAT. It's well priced, and supplied with great natural shampoos. My favorite part? The dryer. I've got a Cocker Spaniel who will soak five towels and still take the rest of the day to dry. Lori's got a professional-style velocity dryer, which is the best for long haired dogs. It also helps blow out the shedding winter coat this time of year.
The gist? You need a good product or sound advice? Go to A Dog's Dream. I'm super picky about my animals and don't trust anyone else. -

This is a great pet store! I came in here yesterday afternoon looking for something for the little lady in my life -her name is Mia and she's 7lbs of all kinds of feisty.
They have a great selection of food for cats and dogs, lots of fun and reasonably priced doggy toys, collars, leashes... pretty much everything you need for man's (or woman's) best friend.
I think I was most surprised at prices of the squeaky toys. Apparently, I have been paying WAY too much for puppy toys. I won't be shopping in Ballard or Fremont for squeaky things anymore, since i paid half of what I've paid in those 'hoods for a toy here yesterday afternoon.
At any rate, if you find yourself anywhere South of downtown, in search of things for the critter, swing by A Dog's Dream. They'll take care of you.Listed in: Petting Zoo!

"They have everything a Tramp like me could want. Venison, oh venison. And don't EEEEVEN get me started with feet!! I loves some feet. They gots yer dehydrated chicken AND duck feet!! Call me a fan fer life!" says Gomez.

"Art. I'm a lover of art. Their portraits of some of my brethren leave me speechless....and slobbering. Oh, and you know I always like eco-friendly establishments. I just wished they served doggie lattes. You see, I like to drink a cup of joe when I shop," utters Gunner.

Yeah, I think I have to agree with stubby-legged little Gomez. They had some unique food choices here, and after the G&G Poop Factory had some Venison dry dog food, I know they are hooked.
The saleswoman & her months-old assistant were super sweet and helpful. And yeah, if you want art, they got some doggie art---I mean we are in the arty Georgetown district, aren't we?! -

I came into contact with A Dog's Dream because I am producing a Humane Society Benefit and was soliciting donations from local businesses.
Lori at A Dog's Dream made a generous donation for the raffle, and I was so charmed by the store I spent a good deal of time walking around, looking at all the amazing stuff they had, and wishing I had about a half dozen dogs so I could buy one of everything.
But wait - it doesn't stop with dogs. They have amazing stuff for cats, fish, and other pets too, and I couldn't help but buy new cat collar tags whilst there - they carry Red Dingo tags, and the colors and designs are ULTRA cool, and amazingly priced for such a great custom product.
In conclusion, you should shop at A Dog's Dream for three reasons:
1. To support a local, independent pet shop that actually cares about your pet's health because they have pets too.
2. Because they have a great selection in a really cute, airy shop.
3. Because they support the Humane Society, and anyone who supports the Humane Society should be supported in turn.

This is place is awesome, and, quite possibly, the best pet store ever. We've got two cats and three chickens, and they've had everything we've needed to take good care of all of them. This is a small place, so there isn't a huge selection of foods, they only carry the best stuff, and much of it is pretty reasonably priced, too.
The best thing about this place, though, is the owner, Lori. She used to work as a Vet tech, and she really knows her stuff. On two occasions in the last few months we were on the verge of taking one of our cats to the vet, but Lori not only diagnosed what the problem was, but had the solution available right there in the store. Our cats and our chickens are both healthier and happier thanks to Lori and the staff at A Dog's Dream. -

Great new neighborhood shop! South Seattle finally has a place for pets!
Full disclosure--this my own horn and I'm going to blow it--my wife and I just opened this store 8 weeks ago, and we want you to all stop by!
We have natural, healthy foods (NO RECALLS!) and all the other goodies your dog or cat need, and we also carry supplies for birds, fish, rabbits and other small animals. If we don't have it in stock, just ask!
We also specialize in items for sighthounds (especially greyhounds!) and 10% of our sales of sighthound goodies goes to greyhound rescues.
We make custom made raincoats and dog beds!
Each month we have new animal related artwork on the walls--come see us every First Thursday for gallery openings! -

I really like this shop as does my puppy. The owner is great and very helpful. We got our dog recently and had some questions regarding her diet. We tried a bag of the suggested food and the results were a win for everyone involved. Our dog loves the food (precise sensicare lamb and rice) and we loved the price and how our dog digested it (read deep) I also liked having a good healthy food that did not contain a lot of fillers or junk meat that was processed who knows how many times.
We have bought a few collars for her there and also her natural doggie treats. The duck breast treats there she really seems to enjoy and they are all natural jerky that even I could eat (yes I did really try a bit)
This place is great and I will be keeping my business there for sure. -

Lori, the owner seems to know and remember everyone that comes in, which is amazing and really cool that shes got such great customers. She is super picky about what gets sold in the store which I've found that a lot of pet stores will order whats popular even if its not good food. The store has everything you could ever need from chicken food to fish stuff to an amazing selection of raw food and keep em busy dog toys. They will take a picture of your dog and hang it on their wall too!
Plus Emma the baby is hands down the CUTEST baby I've EVER met. -

Living in a household with three cats, I often find myself wondering how the heck those tiny, furry beasts managed to polish off yet another bag so quickly as I shake out the kibble dregs into their bowls. Which is why A Dog's Dream was a much-welcomed addition to the neighborhood when they opened last year. No longer do I have to brave the post-work, rush-hour traffic to and from West Seattle for my mid-week feline refuelings!
The owners are friendly and truly helpful. When we ran out of doctor-prescribed food for one cat with stomach trouble, Lori recommended a food of similar quality that was gobbled up and stayed down. We even got free samples recently to tide us over until the next shipment of food when the store was temporarily out of stock.
Among the other array of cat necessities are a good selection of catnip and other toys, natural litters (incl. World's Best, my favorite), and anti-allergy wipes -- oh, okay, I guess that last one is for me. But just about everything else kitty-centric at A Dog's Dream are things my cats would surely dream of as well. -
Review from Alison V.
I brought my dog in the a few weeks ago and was in search of new food. My lil pup seemed to be bored with her food and not nearly as enthused about it anymore. Since she only eats dry food, I knew the transition would be a bit rough on the tummy. I talked to Lori and she had some great recommendations about what was similar to the old food she was eating and what wouldn't be too hard of a transition for her. I bought 2 sample bags of food and within a week I was back buying a big back as my pooch loved the new food! The best part is since their food is such high quality, I know I'm giving the best to my dog.

Love this shop. Great prices, and the shop owner is amazing! Lori knows her stuff and has never steered me in the wrong direction. Always warm, friendly, and bright. Well-stocked and clean as well! They also just installed a self-bathing station for your dogs in the back. How cool!

A Dog's Dream is great! I have a dog with lots of allergies and they have been so patient and helpful with me in trying to find a food that actually will work for my dog. Everyone at the store is super nice and very understanding. Living in the south end of town it sucks to not have everything you need but Gtown and Columbia City are growing up and becoming awesome in having a variety of stores to meet your needs. The one problem I have with A Dog's Dream is that their doggy bath area just isn't there yet. I usually go to Petapoluza in Fremont because they are super rad and have everything you could possibly need. A Dog's Dream is a great compititor and even better because I don't have to travel 30mins to get there.
The problem with their bath is that you have to turn the nozzle all the way up to get hot water and sometimes it doesn't even get hot. But my real problem with this is that the sprayer they use does not adjust for pressure. Lori said its all in how you use the handle. Well I would barely touch the handle and it was just too much pressure for my baby and his already sensitive skin. I also wish they had hypo-allergenic shampoo, conditioner, and ear wipes. Petapoluza offers all for the same price. I understand the bath has been a work in progress for them but as a customer I wish I could get everything awesome in one place that is close to home. A Dogs Dream is almost there....please just make the doggy wash area better!!!!
They really are the best place on the south end of town to get everything you need for your pampered pets and high maintenance animals. Great selection of toys, treats, food, and jackets. They will even order it if they don't have it. Plus Lori will even make you a customized collar. -

Wow- thoroughly impressed with this pet store. I am currently dog sitting for a big fella with a sensitive stomach, and his prescription food had yet to arrive from Mr UPS. So I chanced in here after yoga and was blown away by how cool this place was. The clerk (possibly the owner?) knew so much about her products and deftly suggested a suitable match, and even tried to just give me a free sample! I decided to go ahead and buy a small bag, but she did convince me to take a sample of an organic cat food for my little kittoons...

I love this place! First of all, they greet your dog by taking their photo and placing it on the wall of doggie fame. Too cute. The store is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. They have a very wide selection of food and treats and other supplies. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Guido can't wait to get back there and pick out some more treats!

This place automatically gets more than one star b/c it's got better food for your pets than chain stores. The prices are competitive, and its location is pretty convenient (I have arrived at different times during the week and free street parking was always available). I hope to try the dog washing there sometime, and maybe my rating will go up then.

The owner knows her product and is always willing to work with you. She remembers my dog (and I always get to look at his cute picture on his wall). In addition her recommendations for a good veterinarian, dog trainer, and dog walker have been wonderful. If you care about the health of your dog and the products you give him/her this is the place for you. (and Henry says "woo woo wooo" in agreement.

This store seems to have a good variety of items and good brands of specialty pet food. I'd give it higher ratings but they are much more expensive and the lady that's always working there is horrid. I'll always pay more for great customer service. I recently stopped in there for a specialty item and they are charging $150 for something I recently got for $75 somewhere else. I love supporting my local businesses as opposed to Petco, etc. I just can't take the horrid woman who is always working there when I go. Plus she insulted my dog, which didn't score any points with me. I've been taking my business to All the Best. A bit out of my way but at least they don't treat their customers like crap.

I started buying my cat food and supplies here a year ago when I moved to SoDo and I'm so happy with them! I had previously been a customer of Mud Bay and was concerned about finding a good pet store in my new neighborhood. The staff at A Dog's Dream has educated me far beyond any expectations I ever had. I feel confident that the food, toys and litter that I buy here are of the best quality and are healthy and safe for my pets. I highly recommend this store.

My dog has severe allergies to human dander and it requires a lot of work to keep her comfortable. As a result I have visited a lot of pet stores in the greater Seattle area to seek any guidance or experience from staff. Once I stepped in to A Dog's Dream I met Lori the owner who was more than knowledgable about dog allergies due to her very own dogs being highly sensitive to allergies. Ever since I found A Dog's Dream I have rested a little easier knowing that the food and treats I am giving my dog are the healthiest and have the most quality ingredients! They even place special orders for me and call me to let me know when it has arrived! I also love that when I walk in most of the staff know who I am and ask how my dog is doing with her allergies. I love this place and if I can help it will never shop at another pet store!
