Being a former military member I have been all over and I have to say this place is without a doubt in my overall top ten deli and is so far my #1 deli in the area. This place is what a deli is supposed to be. Not all the flashy BS to try and hide the fact that they actually suck like almost every other deli. I try to make it here at least once a week and get pretty bummed out when I can't. Yes, it really is that good.

Truth be told, I'm an Italian Sub slut. Whenever somebody asks me what I want for lunch - my pick - a good Italian cold-cut sub is frequently my choice - if I can find it. I lived for years in Gaithersburg an was lucky enough to have the Gourmet Italian Market (see my review for them) around the corner. After moving from Gaithersburg, my life was devoid of this simple luxury.
That is, until I discovered A Deli.
I had been to the A Deli in Herndon a couple of times many years ago when I worked off of Worldgate, and this location seems to be related (similarly named menu items) but I am not sure how they are affiliated. Regardless, the Italian subs here are amazing. As said below, I have not, and probably will not try a steak and cheese here. If that is the sub you desire, go to Tony's. But if you LOVE Italian Cold Cuts - and I don't just mean salami or pepperoni - there is no other place to go in Manassas.
My favorites are soprasetta and prosciutto, so I typically go for the Mild Italian. I've also had the Il Miaestro, the Spicy Italian, and the Classic Italian - all excellent. And the traditional meats / subs are also very good - my father ordered the Super Big-A once, and it was a MONSTER, piled with double portions of roast beef, ham turkey, and cheese.
The quality of the meats and cheeses are high, but I've found that you can give the same ingredients to a dozen different people, and get varying qualities of subs. There is a slight art to making a great sandwich, and the lady who makes them at A Deli does so precision and TLC. You can taste the love and effort in every bite.
In addition, they have a solid deli with various salads, meats and cheeses by the pound, deserts, etc. The stuffed cherry pepper are great. Soda-heads - they have a variety of sugar-based, glass bottle sodas for your enjoyment.
A few negatives - the pickles given with the sandwich are limp and uninspired, although generously portioned. The fresh mozz there is OK, but I've had far better. The macaroni salad was average - not bad but nothing special.
But the main reason you SHOULD be coming here anyway is for a cold-cut sub, and these are the best in town, hands down, and rivals the best in the DC area. -

A Deli is the best Italian deli I have been able to find in the Manassas/Centerville area. Whenever I go in, It reminds me of "The Italian Store" in Arlington.
The store has hot and cold sandwiches made to order, a variety of Italian specialties and delicacies, wine, cheese, meats, pastas, fresh homemade cannolis, and more.
The interior has a few tables to sit at and things can get crowded fast. However, chatting with the owner and other customers is part of the experience while you wait for your sandwich.
The sandwiches are large, excellent and come in a wide variety. The Italian subs seem to the the core specialty. -

So I go to check this place out because well its a deli (lol) and I'm in the mood for a sub. They have all those great sandwich meats like procuitto and salami and turkey. They also have some unique potato chip brands and I picked up a bag of the olive oil and rosemary chips. I was suprised that I like them, albeit a little greasy I ended up liking them. The sub was amazing, fresh mozzerella and procuitto lettuce tomatto, some onion and italian dressing and I'm at home eating like, yum!
And yes, the place is awsome due to their selling of the pepsi, in the can, yum! Definatly go check this place out if you're tried of subway and lays potato chips this place will be able to give you something different.Listed in: My Neighborhood, Top Restaurants

My co-workers all went out to eat here to celebrate someone's birthday last Friday and every single one of them ended up with FOOD POISONING as a result of what they ate at this place. Stay far away!!

Have to agree with Vanessa B., subs here are excellent!
I ordered the 12" Super Italian Hoagie - with the works! Several kinds of meats, cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, banana peppers, oil and vinegar, Italian seasoning. I was pleased to see that they carry both Dirty Chips and Route 11 Chips. I grabbed a bag of the Dirty Roasted Garlic & Herb Chips and two bags of the Route 11 Habanero Potato Chips, plus a bottle of water.
Guy making my sandwich was a nice guy - friendly. I chatted with him about things and business as he made my sandwich.
The sub was ginormous! I ate half of it and one bag of Habanero chips while I was there - then had him wrap the second half of the sub for later.
The Deli also sells a limited amount of Italian style grocery foods - bottled and brined olives, peppers, pickles, and other stuff.
I will be back! -

I am so glad this place is within walking distance of my home! This is a real deli, a traditional deli, like the kinds I grew up with in New Jersey.
My favorite thing to get here is the corned beef sandwich (on rye, with brown mustard, pickle on the side). I have had a few other sandwiches there, and on one memorable occasion bought a couple platters for a party, and have never been disappointed, but the corned beef has my heart.
The deli itself is small, with a few indoor tables for dining and, when the weather permits, outdoor tables as well (although the view of the parking lot leaves something to be desired). There are lots of different drinks available, as well as luxury foods like marinated artichoke hearts and giardiniera. This is also the only storefront locally where I have found Kinder Eggs, a Danish (or is it German?) candy with toys inside. Very cool.
Definitely check this place out. It's been around for a long time, and certainly deserves your business! -

A Deli is a great place to go and get a sub if you are tired of Subway or Blimpy. They give you a large selection of premium meats and cheeses and put it on some of the best sub bread I have ever tasted.
The deli has a mini grocery store layout with a variety of imported foods from Italy. They also sell meat and cheese by the pound, as the name suggests. -

This is the place to go for subs in Manassas. Always fresh ingredients! I have never been disappointed.
The shop is clean and the people very friendly.
Price wise, I think they are a bit high but worth it for a really good sandwich.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Soo I, at one point in my life, was a total Italian Store freak. Still am. My dilema: living in Woodbridge, it's never really all that economical to drive to Arlington for a sub. My solution: A Deli in Manassas! I never knew this spot existed until by chance I looked for a good deli spot in Manassas via yelp.
So once a week I would stop here on my way home from class. The Hoagies be tha bomb. Slightly different combinations than the
aforementioned Italian store but who cares. The bread is good. The
meats are great, sliced fresh every day. Just right on the lettuce tomato
onion and dressing. They also take requests if you want to be picky. My
girlfriend became a big fan of the chicken-cheesesteak hoagie. Large selection of drinks/chips. The canolis can easily compete with any pasterie spot in NY/ North NJ. My only one small complaint woul be that the only kind of "hot peppers" they have are banana peppers, which I am rather bored of.
Sadly I won't be returning as my commute no longer takes me in this direction. So glad they have a spot in Herndon, as I'll be commuting in that direction with the new semester. -

My husband and I ordered the classic italian sub--delicious. It was big enough for both of us. I would definitely come back here again if I am ever in the area. They also have really DELICIOUS cannolis.

One of the best sub shops in Manassas. The place itself is cramped and overstocked with Italian foods for sale... and during the summer it gets HOT (I don't know that they have A/C)... but the food makes up for it.

Oh sweet jesus! I have loved this place for years. I've ordered and enjoyed damn near everything on the menu. I would recommend sticking to the coldcut side of things. This isn't really a cheese steak kind of place. For that go to Tony's. For a brilliant cold cut or italien sub, this is IT. Huge portions, you can not possibly leave hungry. Impressive drink, chip, and side options. The Maestro is so damned good. If I'm on this side of town, I always stop here. If I'm on my side of town, I often make the trip.

Great Italian Hogie. I haven't tried anything else b/c this one is so good. The bread, veggies and hams were very fresh. Reasonably priced too. Their home made cannoli is great also.

Used to work nearby to this place, and would occasionally go in for a canoli, which was always excellent. Good food for a deli.
