I've been going to Dr. Vu's office since we moved to San Jose in 2006.
Dr. Vu is a great professional and I'm pretty happy I chose her practice.
I had a root canal (that was previously half-way done by another dentist) and with the sedation technique, it was almost pain free... -

I've been living in the Bay Area for a few years now, and am currently facing a move to the east coast in a number of months. One of the things that has me most sad about the impending move is the prospect of leaving Dr. Vu and her staff behind.
Seriously.
They meet all the normal criteria you'd expect from a good dentist- professional, flexible, pain-free (I'm a total wimp about my mouth, and believe me- they've done their fair share of work on me). Perhaps most importantly, their work has stood up over the years- they've never had to redo anything. I've worked primarily with Dr. Vu and Bobbie, and they make a technically and professionally excellent team.
What really makes them stand out, though, is their hospitality. I don't know how they do it, but when you become a client, you really become part of a family. From day one, they worked to establish a meaningful personal as well as professional relationship, and even talked me through some tough emotional times in the chair! I feel like I've inherited two big sisters. They're also very funny, and Dr. Vu and Bobbie each have a wealth of crazy stories that'll have you cracking up while they poke around in your mouth (I don't think they make you laugh while they drill).
I can't recommend this practice enough. For what it's worth, though, I'm seriously considering biannual travel back to San Jose after I move, just so I can keep working with them. They're not only excellent dentists, but excellent human beings.
Oh, and if you recite the Quadratic Equation to Dr. Vu, you'll make her grin from ear to ear. Really. Try it! -

I have been coming to Dr. Vu since she took over this practice several years ago. I was skeptical at first, since I had been with Dr. Malzone my entire life, but she really impressed me.
Dr. Vu and staff are fantastic, professional, skilled, and kind. They make your experience a friendly and painless one. Their office is always neat and welcoming. I can't recommend Dr. Vu highly enough. She is extremely knowledgeable and a great patient advocate. I live in Palo Alto, but I drive all the way to San Jose to visit Dr. Vu and her team. They are THAT good. -

One advice I always remember from my dad is "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything." Well, that advice doesn't apply to Dr. Vu and her team.
I used to go to those mobile dental unit that comes to my office, just because it's convenient. Well convenience just doesn't make up for good service and reliability. So I started shopping around for a new dentist. From a long list of names, my eyes landed on "A CENTER FOR DENTAL EXCELLENCE". Wow, I mean how can you not try a place with a name like that.
My first impression was Dr Vu's office is clean and it smells good! It doesn't have that sterile dentist office smells - you know, that antiseptic - pinesol - clove smell. OK, so, I'm an odor freak and I hate the smell of clove, but that's a different story. There's also a small fridge in the waiting area and it's always full with juice boxes and water bottles - bonus points right there - and a jar of rice crispies .. hummm ... rice crispies? Maybe on the way out but not while waiting to have my teeth cleaned.
My feeling when I go to a dentist is the same as taking my car in for service. You're never sure if the extra work they recommend is really needed or is it because the mechanic/dentist needs a new kitchen. But with Dr. Vu, I never have that "pwned" feeling. She's really looking out for your well-being and she's honest about what needs to be done. She's thorough, patient, and friendly. As a matter of fact, Dr. Vu's entire staff is friendly yet professional.
If you need a new dentist, look no further than A CENTER FOR DENTAL EXCELLENCE. Dr. Vu and team are the best in San Jose. -

This is a woman owned practice that gives great care, follow up and connection. Dr. Thien Vu has brought DH and I through some trickier dental care and intervention. I live in fear of dental pain and she has managed to make use of different approaches effectively - sedation dentistry, nitrous, relaxation guidance, distraction and plain old coaching. DH on the other hand has high pain threshold but aging teeth - she has taken him through an involved plan that has transitioned him to the use of partials while saving as many teeth as possible. We like the friendliness as well as the professional care. They are more than flexible and patient. This is important with Valley schedules and crises. Dr. Vu just added a new dentist, Dr. Patel who also seems to fall in line with the commitment to excellence of this practice. They seem to do the range of dentistry - implants, whitening, cleaning, crowns, veneers, cosmetic...we are very happy here.
