OH WOW.  Take it from someone who gets a massage every single week.  Marla just gave me the best massage. EVER.  Yes, there have been others who are good, but Marla is in a league of her own.  Every knead, stroke, touch were applied with stress relief in mind.  I thought that I have had plenty of deep tissue massages, but Marla's version is true therapy.

The whole time I was lying on the table I was thinking "hmm, when is the next time I'm going to be in SLT again? Note to self, book an appointment with Marla before coming up."  No joke.

    Marla is a gem.

I've had two 90 minute massages from Marla and they were both incredible. As a former massage therapist and lover of massage, I've had a lot of massage and this is by far the best. I've come back twice and I can't wait to go back again. I always feel better and my body feels amazing when I'm done. I have really bad tension in my shoulders and such and Marla always gets out even the toughest knots. I highly recommend her!

WTH quad muscle?  Why you gotta hate on me like that?

My quad muscle is really tight; it's as if there is a knot in it. It doesn't hurt when I walk, only if I run and it hurts right in the front like it's bruised on the left leg.

I was in Austin this weekend and SO excited to go run the hike and bike trail. I miss Austin's hike and bike trail far more than I thought I would. Actually, I think when I moved here that it didn't occur to me how much I would miss it. While the trails definitely abound here, they are under snow half the year and not filled with the amount of people enjoying the same activity I am - running. See, I find it a bit easier to make it around a distance when other people are watching me. I run faster because I don't want to suck and then it's over with more quickly.

For the first time ever, I ran the entire hike and bike trail - a 10.15 mile loop. I ran this on Friday, the morning after I flew in, and felt awesome. I ran strong, the distance felt easy; no problem! I then proceeded to walk around a gigantic music festival for 12 hours a day, three days in a row, while jumping up and down for hours at a time at any number of fabulous bands that I was in love with. On Monday, I woke up with a really tight left quad muscle. Seriously tight. Despite this, I ran an easy four miles and after a few it loosened up but I knew I shouldn't do a full 10 again like I wanted to.

I flew home Tuesday, woke up Wed with my quad muscle so angry I could hardly walk.  Something must be done.

I scheduled a massage with Marla at Body Renew mostly based on the proximity to my work location.  This was my first professional massage ever. I love massages. LOVE them. I wish I was rich enough to have one a week. Until this week, the cost had never seemed worth it despite my love and wishes for one.  Since running on angry muscles is not an option and I must continue to train, the $50/half hour price tag seemed perfectly worth it.

Afterwards, I felt amazing. Loose, limber, and knot free. Marla focused on my quad, told me that my IT band is a little messed up (which I knew) and gave me further recovery instructions.  Four days later I went back for an hour long session.  Now my quad is loosened up but my IT band needs some work.

The place is convenient to both my house and my workplace, Marla is nice, comforting, and provides an excellent service.  I am feeling infinitely better already.

According to two other sources, these people deserve 4 stars.  I have an appointment with them on April 1st and will edit this review when I return.  Kae and Marla seems to have equal talent.  I have booked a couples swedish massage for my BF and self at $150 which is more reasonable then the Elements Spa at the Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge of $170.

UPDATE:  My massage was incredible.  I enjoy deep tissue and that is what I got.  I left feeling relaxed, so much so that we went for sushi afterwards and at 6 pm we returned to our hotel for a hot tub and went back to the room and fell asleep not to wake up until the next morning.  My BF said that he thought for sure Marla was trying to get him to squint as she did everything short of climbing on to him with all her weight to give him a massage.  He said it felt good and he was very relaxed when he came out but he thought for sure she was trying to see how 'tough' he was.  Whatever she did though it definitely worked as he looked like a different person when I saw him after the massage.

Went to Body Renew after a long hike.  90 minute massage is the way to go, the process is less rushed then the standard hour.   Marla was great--always nice to have someone in an ownership role taking an active part in day to day operations.

I didn't notice any traffic noise but was also the furthest room from the 50.

This is not a day spa.  You'll get a great massage here at a reasonable price.  Will definitely be back.

My pregnant wife and I both had 60 min massages here. We both came out completely relaxed. It's a small place but very comfortable and the staff is excellent. no complaints. I'm giving it 4 stars only because I have not visited other massage therapists in the Tahoe area. If you're looking for an affordable, quality massage it would be hard to beat this place.

This past weekend, a year and a half after me & my GF's first massages at ReNEW we returned. We hoped that we would have the same fantastic experience we had the first time. But like Sade said we were afraid that "It's never as good as the first time..." Luckily that was not the case! The customer service is fantastic, Marla's magical hands and friendly demeanor can't be beat, and the prices are reasonable. I had the most relaxing swedish massage and foot treatment.  My partner's deep tissue massage left her incredibly relaxed, albeit a bit sore, but that's a good thing. Overall this is a great spot for a massage while in South Tahoe. It's a warm and cozy spot with great massage therapists and great customer service. You will soon forget the fact that indeed you are just steps from Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Booked a deep tissue massage for the fiance as his birthday gift. I also scheduled a swedish massage for myself. The massage therapists were very nice but for some reason I just didn't feel like this was the best massage I've ever had. It think it had more to do with the ambiance...it's not a day spa relaxed kind of place, but more like a sports therapy place. It's located right on Tahoe Blvd. so I heard a good amount of traffic going by. I'm used to places with lots of aromatherapy and silence, which I prefer better. The fiance really liked his massage though and says that Marla was great. I must have had some major knots in my neck and shoulders because I was still a little sore 2 days later.

Went back with my hubby for a V-day massage and this time had Marla, the owner.  She was great and hubby was happy too...we both had a 90 minute deep tissue and it was worth every penny.  They are both a bit chatty but know when to stop.  The only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars is the outside noise from the street.

We spent Labor Day in Tahoe last weekend and wanted to optimize the R&R time with a good rubdown. Looking through Yelp, we decided on A Body Renew because of their affordable rates and they were able to squeeze 2 appointments in last minute. Like some of the other reviewers mention, this is not a place where you'll find the full zen-like spa experience. There's not a trickling fountain in the corner, no Buddha statues staring down at you, or robe and slippers waiting upon your arrival. If you look past the aesthetics of the place, you'll find that what they lack in ambiance, they make up for in the quality of their services. Marla and Tiffany are fantastic at what they do. They hone in on your body's individual needs and will make sure that you leave feeling completely reNEWed. I had no idea how wrecked my shoulders and back were until Tiffany started working on them. I also appreciated that even though I was 15 minutes late for my appointment, rushing to the South Shore from up North, she still gave me my full hour of relaxation. We will definitely be back whenever we're in the area, especially after a day of snowboarding. Thanks guys!
