SO IMPRESSED!!!!
WOW!! From start to finish so happy with the service of A Better Roofing Co.
Alan was our sales rep that came out to give us our bid, show us roofing samples & schedule our job.
Materials & dumpster were delivered Wednesday. Workers arrived at 9 am Thursday. By noon they had the 3 layers of old roofing ripped off the back of the house. They had the new plywood & tar paper installed by 2 and then worked the next 3 hours in the rain putting down the roofing material. Friday morning the rain continued so we did not expect them to show up. Saturday (this morning) they were here bright and early again at 9am. They were completely done by 5pm! The workers all busted ass & were amazing! We bought them pizza for lunch because we were so impressed by their work. They did a great clean up job including using a magnet to look for lost nails in the yard & a leaf blower to clean up our deck & front yard. -

Our home inspector had said we'd need a new roof in the next couple of years. The rains of November had something else to say, like "Hey, your garage is leaking." We bit the bullet and called the first company I had seen working in the neighborhood. A nice rep from A Better Roofing came out to take a look and give us an estimate. It was less than I thought something like this should cost, not that I've ever priced a roof before. Put it this way, it cost about what Lindsay Lohan spends on a handbag.
Our job was scheduled about 4-6 weeks out, and it was completed in two days. That's it. TWO days. We had a tiny problem with something in our yard getting damaged, and they immediately sent someone out to inspect and then made us a very fair deal. We could not have been happier.
They provided many references and locations of other jobs which we did scout out to confirm the color we'd chosen. They've done a ton of work across the Seattle area.
It's not every day that you need a new roof, but when you do I think A Better Roofing is a safe bet. -

Great choice for a new roof. I have used A Better and Jorve both now, and I am a big time "A Better" convert. I had them do a reroof our our Capitol Hill bungalow 6/11 and the communication was great, the clean-up excellent, work superior, price competitive, service and follow up top notch, and they don't want a dime until the project is completed and you are happy. What's not to love? A roof is a project you cannot afford to skimp on and cut corners with a fly-by-night low bid. Roofers are very skilled tradesmen (the good ones at least) and that is exactly what you will find here. Ask your friends and neighbors, you will find that A Better Roofing Company is just what their name implies and that you will be working with a top tier local roffing company! If you can't tell, I give my endorsement!!!

I just had them out last month to slap on a new roof. Overall the experience was great. Timing definitely helped - most of the job was done while we were sitting on a beach in Mexico (I highly recommend incorporating this into your re-roofing experience as well)!!
On to the highlights - Pricing was very reasonable, the quality of the job was great, and the team was very clean - zero mess. They did the job during February so it took a little extra time in between the rain & snow showers but they did a great job tarping off the open roof sections so we had no damage from the elements.
These guys are good, honest, and professional. -

Hypothetically, if I actually needed to hire a company to fix my roof, I would hire them and request the 'chicken man' do it.
Well, as it is, I haven't used their services or would know whether or not they are reliable roofers. One thing I do know is that everyday on my drive home from work, I see a poor man forced to dress in some ridiculous costume waiving to the passing traffic on Airport Way South and always honk my horn. It's become part of my afternoon ritual of sorts.
This poor soul. I've seen him dressed up out there on the corner as a chicken, a white bunny, a gorilla, Spiderman, and a wizard - to name a few. At least they've recently given him a director's chair to sit down in once in awhile. Today was the worst though, poor guy was standing out there with a rain slicker and rain pants with that damn chicken head on. It just looked so sad.
This review is my homage to the man wearing the "Better Roofing Company" sandwich board dressed as some ridiculous character. Though he may look ridiculous on a daily basis and subjects himself to public scrutiny, I hope he's laughing at us all - all the way to the bank that is. -

I had an excellent experience with A Better Roofing Co. Our house was built in the 20's with the last major renovation being sometime in the 60's. It was a rental for the last 10 years or so, and everything seems to have been patched together in a handyman special kind of way.
Long story short, we reached the end of life for the roof this spring. I put the job out to bid to 3 companies, and A Better Roofing was not only the lowest price, but they included more in the base cost (for example, fees for permits, dumpster, etc were part of the base cost, certain kinds of flashing, etc) which were extras for the other companies.
Being an old house with a big concern being rotted wood, I asked the sales rep (Alan, who was excellent!) the best way to handle it, and he assured me time & materials was the way to go. He was upfront with me and said he *could* price out the wood ahead of time, but the way estimators work is they take what they can see, double it, then double it again. But if we go time & materials, they will only charge for what they use.
They did have to replace a lot of wood on the sub-roof, but it only came out to a few hundred dollars more than the original estimate. And it STILL only took them 2 days to complete the job! 3 guys arrived at 7:30/8:00 each day. The first day they worked until 8:15 PM, the next day until 3:30, and they were done. No debris in the yard, I haven't found a single nail, the roof looks amazing, and I couldn't be happier.
I also checked them out on Angie's list, and they are a preferred angie's list contractor with an A+ rating (best you can get). They have a client list of about 9 pages long, single spaced, double sided of roofs they've done, and they guarantee their work with a warranty that is transferable to the next owner of the house. No one else I called did that.
Lot's of pluses for "A Better". Definitely put them on your short list of contractors for a new roof. Always get multiple quotes, but ask for one from these guys. They did an amazing job at my house. -

I had A Better Roofing Company reroof my house this past summer and they did a great job and their price was really competitive. They were really quick and cleaned up after and the new roof looks great. But the best thing came afterwards. While roofing they had to temporarily remove my existing skylight to redo the flashing, and I didn't notice until about 2 months after they finished that the skylight wasn't opening anymore. I called them and they came out, assessed the skylight, and then when they couldn't fix it they replace it with the same make and model as my original one at no cost to me. I was really impressed with their service.

They did a great job on my roof. Except for one huge problem - they ripped paint and siding chunks off a huge part of my house and didn't do anything to help me fix it. Very poor customer service. Very condesending. I had to hire another contractor for $1,000 just to clean up their mess. Just don't use them, ever!

Despite a few minor communication problems with the office, my experience with A Better Roofing is almost entirely positive. They showed up when they said they would, stuck to their estimate and did what seems to be great work. They left no mess and were finished in the time frame they said they would be. As far as I can tell, (its only been a couple weeks) their work and skill level is top notch.
My only complaint about them is that I found half a roll of tar paper and 5 squares of shingles, unused and in the dumpster in my driveway. I appreciate that materials may only come in certain quantities, a palette for example. But is the dumpster where all unused materials go? I was dismayed. Aside from the obvious environmental impact, they're throwing away a source of revenue. Is business that good right now? I don't even really care that I payed for that stuff. But to think they do this on every job is incredible.
Overall, my experience was good. But knowing what I know now, I might think differently about hiring them again.
