We opted for a last minute one hour snow mobiling tour last Saturday late afternoon after we had spent the morning/early afternoon skiing a small nearby mountain.
We met with our guide, Richard, a Long Islander who now lives in the country. The staff was nice and informative- Richard took us on an hour ride throughout some of the groomed (albeit a little skied out) trails. Totally exhilarating going 40-45 mph in the snow!
We chose this company for our snowmobiling tour because they mention in their brochure about how their prices have no additional charges/fees. Considering how expensive gas is currently, we thought it would be wise to to have lump sum with no variances to pay.
During our ride, which was just us and the guide since it was after 4pm, we came upon a couple who had their mobile stuck in the drifts next to the trail (pretty deep snow and a heavy piece of machinery). Richard helped this couple (who was not renting from his company, mind you) get their mobile back onto the trail. And, he did it very courteously and respectfully. We didn't mind waiting the few minutes it took for him to finish the task; if we had been in those shoes, we would've wanted help too!
We got back to the shop and Richard mentioned that we should check their website for a better deal to rent two mobiles next time... and he told us that first thing in the morning is the best time to ride (flat, smooth, unridden trails). We also got to meet Cassie, half lab/half husky-- so adorable and sweet.
A definite good choice for last minute snow mobiling. -

5 Stars don't come easily !
Worth every penny. We arrived unannounced at Better Life at 1:30 PM. The owner Tom said "no problem we can do a 3 hour tour" So we suited up with new gear and mounted new sleds. These sleds were great. They were fast and crisp. We had 2 singles and a double. Our tour guide Gary (?) was very knowledgeable and kept a good pace the girls were happy with. He also led me and my bud to an area where we could "test our skills" . A great day.
If you are thinking about snowmobiling this is the ONLY outfit to look at. Please feel free to email me for more info.

Awesome.
We went snowmobiling this week in some mixed rain/snow conditions with "A Better Life Snowmobile Tours." This is a new outfit in the town and they had really new Ski-Doo snowmobiles and new helmets. Everything was so nice and new! Our ride had only about 180 miles on it and was extremely comfortable.
Now about the tour: Our tour guide was Tom. We went through White Mountain trails for a two hour tour, which was a mix of wider and straight well-groomed roads (capable of speeds up to 45mph) and alot of small narrow curvy roads in the hills. The curvy roads had lots of undulations and bumps to keep it interesting and amazingly terrifying/fun for the back passenger :) The time really flew by and there were plenty of opportunity to switch off driver/passenger and to take plenty of pictures along the way.
We think that with all the new 2009 snowmobiling equipment and with the friendly service, it's a no brainer that we will be returning shortly for a three-hour tour soon!
