This restaurant is gorgous on the inside. It's hidden away in Campbell and if you don't know where it's located- you just might miss it!...
As far as good goes, I thought it was great for the selection, and everything I got tasted amazing. It was a bit pricey for my taste but I guess the ambiance makes up for it. I don't know about frequenting here often but definitely a special occasion it would be a great idea.
Well, well, well...what have we here?
How pleasantly surprised my husband and I were to find an Italian restaurant close to home with food that tasted like it actually came from Italy! My husband lived there for several years so he should know.
The prices were VERY reasonable and this is even a great place to bring kids (little known secret....Italian waiters actually like small children...or they do a great job faking it). The buffalo mozzarella was TO DIE for...literally melted in my mouth. The pasta was equally good and tasted handmade.
The only downsides? The decor...which looks like a fancy Italian restaurant would have looked in the 1970s: lots of oak, lots of candles, lots of Italian emblems, flags, and such on the walls. And the food, while good, was pretty basic fare...no surprises, nothing unexpected (aside from the quality). In fact the whole restaurant feels like a blast from the past....but that also goes for the prices which works for me.
In any case, if you are looking for decent Italian food with quality ingredients at a reasonable price where you just might be able to take the kids.....look no further.
3 Stars
Had dinner w/ my parents and my gf here tonight......since there's so much to write about, I'll make it easier to read and list things in chronological order:
Before Meal
- Walked in, the place was decorated nice
- No Host/Hostess, but one of the employees pointed us to the table where my dad was waiting for us
- Tried some of his Grey Goose Martini, and it was surprisingly not bad (martini's aren't my thing, so this was the first time I tried one!)
- Reisling was sweet (too sweet for me)
- Ordered a bottle of Chardonnay Jermann '07 (Friuli, Italy) and it was VERY GOOD!
- Warm Bread w/ Oil n Vinegar - ok
- Appetizer - Fritto Misto All'italiana - Calamari, Prawns, Zucchini Fried w/ spicy Marinara - ehhh - I only saw 3 Prawns and the rest tasted ok (better after I was almost done w/ my second glass of Wine)
Main Courses
- Special of the day - Salmon & Halibut w/ Saffron Rissoto - the fish tasted ok, but was definitely NOT fresh (because even thru all the wine I drank it was still fishy) - but the rissoto was very good
- Pollo Carciofi - ok - tastes just like a chicken dish at cheesecake factory
- Scalopine ai funghi - Veal w/ mushroom sauce - this was the best dish of the night, and the mashed potatoes that came with it were good too
- Fettucini Verdi - spinach fettuchini w/ meat sauce - this was ok but VERY greasy! I'm serious.....it was VEERRRRYYYYY GREASSSYYY. I've gotta double up on cardio tomorrow to try clearing up my arteries after having 1/2 of my plate
- Caesar Salad - not on the menu, but it was really good. I usually like croutons, but didn't like the way these tasted for some reason
Desserts
Strawberry Gelato - ok
Peach Sorbet - good (they empty a real peach, then fill it w/ sorbet....pretty clever guys)
Tiramisu - can't be a fair judge because I really dislike tiramisu...so I obviously didn't like it
Profitterol - I know it sounds like medication I took to fight the grease from my food, but it's actually a dessert!! little flaky creampuffs covered w/ chocolate syrup - these were good (especially w/ the glass of milk I ordered)
Other
- Service was good - Both the server, busser, and the nice lady that came by a few times to check up on us
- The place was well decorated and clean
- I recommend you check it out, but not for a big deal date like an anniversary or something like that.....

Was craving for pasta and decided to try something new. Ended up ordering the Fritto Misto all'Italiana which is calamari and zucchini appetizer, it was okay. It tasted like any ordinary calamari dish, had better. Had the Insalata Mista salad - was okay nothing outstanding, it's basically greens with tomatoes.
I had the Spaghetti allo Scoglio, which is mussels, clams, prawns, sauteed in olive oil garlic white wine marinara sauce. It was good, but nothing to woohhh over. I can cook that myself heeee.
My b/f had Scaloppine alla Pizzaiola, which is veal. It was okay for me. It's pretty pricey for the quality of food. Their service is okay, had to wait a while for refills.

To give you a feel of the caliber of this restaurant they are the kind of place that's hurls chopped parsley on every plate. Not an artful sprig, but a generous dusting of pre-chopped, slightly dry parsley. Eggplant parmesan? Parsley. How should we finish this pasta? Parsley. Panini? Parsley.
That aside the food is a bit blah. While the pastas are nice and al dente, they are dry and lack finesse. The sandwiches are nice but simple. Certainly a more interesting menu than Boca de Bepo, but not by much, and the flavor profiles are comparable.
If you do go grab a table outside, the ambiance is quite nice on a sunny day.
Pros:
Great Service
Authentic Good Italian Cuisine
OK Prices
Full Bar
Very Nice Ambiance
In Downtown Campbell
Cons:
None
We went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was wonderful! We split a salad special, and my wife also had an entree special. Both very good. I had the Gorgonzola Gnocchi, which was awesome! Ever since a corner Italian restaurant in Berkeley closed, I've been looking for another place that does good gnocchi - and this is it!
Our waitress suggested the Traminer ReManfredi '08 (an Italian white) - which suited the meal perfectly.
The only shortfall was that the restaurant was so busy that night (a Saturday) that our waitress was running to keep up.
We will definitely be back.
With the great reviews I've read about this place, I really thought dinner with my coworkers would be something spectacular. Boy, was it disappointing! Ugh. We drove all the way here from Foster City, too. Anyway, the venue is nice with the pillars and nice decor on the patio. Private parking was a plus. But the food! Oh that's something else and not in a good way. They served us the bread first and it was cold and hard as a rock and dry as the desert! Get it?
For our app, we shared the Polenta with mushroom sauce which was delish, and the Caprese and, eh, not too bad. IMO, the polenta was the best dish we ordered that night. We also shared a peach salad and tomato with mozzarella salad. Those weren't bad either but not impressive.
For my main course, I ordered the boneless rib-eye steak with rosemary. And for $30, it was not at all worth it! Don't get this or you'll get disappointed! The steak was super thin and too dry for a medium-rare. I had some of my colleagues taste it and they all said it lacked taste. Anyway, I pretty much lost my appetite and brought the leftover steak home and dear hubby saw it and said that wasn't a rib-eye! So I guess we won't be coming back here, especially not for the rib-eye. I hate to end on a bad note.... so if it makes it any better, their service was excellent!!! Our server was attentive to all our needs.

I've only been here in big groups for lunch... both times we had mentioned AT LEAST 3-4 times when we sat down, when we got our water, or appertizers, that we needed to be done in 1.5 hours, and both times we got our food at the 1.5 hour mark - delaying us 30 minutes... not so good.
however the food is decent... we had the appertizer "burrata" which is buffalo mozarella with cured ham and sliced tomatos.
The first time i was here I tried the seafood spaghetti, which was only so-so. the seafood was fresh but the tomato sauce was lacking any real flavor. meh.
this time i had the spaghetti bellagio, which is a good compromise between a carbonara sauce or a bolognese meat sauce. bellagio sauce has pancetta with a creamy tomato sauce. I would go back for it.
overall, not a bad place, and not exceptional yet. hit and miss i think. i would need more data but for now, I think this is your average 'decent' italian place.
After going through the motion of having so-so Italian (Vero, Tigelleria, Aldo's), it was such a delight to have found A Bellagio. Went there for a girlfriend's birthday. It was a pressure since it was my responsibility to pick the restaurant, but A Bellagio did not disappoint!
We started out sharing spinach salad with mango and strawberry. It was light and refreshing. There were five of us, and each ordered a different entree. I had the special lobster ravioli with champagne sauce. Others had Spaghetti Carbonara, Gnocchi Gorgonzola, Rigatoni Puttanesca (minus anchovies), and Cacciucco alla Livornese. Everyone enjoyed their dish. I especially liked the Spaghetti Carbonara that the birthday girl let me taste. I often find this dish too salty or creamy. But A Bellagio got it just right.
We noted that it was almost like couples only restaurant. The ambiance is a bit romantic, however it is still appropriate for a mellow dinner with a group of friends.
Our waitress was a little perky, but very nice and accommodating. She gave excellent recommendation, gladly took our pics, and brought out a tiramisu for the birthday girl. I assumed it was on the house since we didn't order dessert yet; forgot to check the bill afterwards..hehe..

At the risk of sounding like Comic Book Guy from "The Simpson's", I will say it:
Worst meal ever.
Yelp let me down. It's OK though, because it was the first time Yelp really let me down, besides the Steamers fiasco years ago.
Seriously guys, 4 stars? My fiance and I thought very hard about this--wait, no we didn't. It was unquestionably the worst meal we have ever had together for which we paid.
We decide to go to downtown Campbell to walk around and eat at the 4 star yelp rated A Bellagio. We walked in, and didn't have a reservation. The guy at the front (is this guy for real with the accent? If so, cool, but if not, cut it out!!) got us in and immediately we noticed that this was not going to be a fantastic dining experience.
We walked into an Italian-themed TGI Friday's, complete with your grandmother's old couch print for the curtains. Our waitress came immediately and asked if we wanted a drink, but we weren't ready. Worth mentioning is how full of energy our waitress was. Not in a cute way, but like she just did 10 lines of blow before we came in. She was waaaay too chipper for a romantic Italian place. I'm sure she would fit in nicely at Chili's, though.
She gave us plenty of time and came back to get our orders promptly. She never, however, asked us if we wanted a drink and left before we could order one. So, we sat around and waited for someone to notice we didn't have any drinks and our bread basket was empty. The couple next to us had drinks and their bread basket was replenished after they said they didn't want anymore--hey, can we have it, then?
Finally we flagged a busboy down who took our drink order and gave us more bread.
Shortly after, our apps arrived. I had the polenta and mushrooms, and my fiance had the prosciutto wrapped shrimp. My appetizer was AWFUL!! The polenta had no taste (do you guys put ANY salt or parm in it? At all?!?) and the mushrooms were lacking a certain "oomph" I expect. No wine taste--just a rubbery, visceral like mushroom ragout with bland polenta under it.
My fiance's app was equally as bad. Truly, the menu should have read "parma ham stuffed with shrimp". There was about 6 layers of parma ham on the shrimp. You could not taste the shrimp at all, and the ham was so salty it was unappealing.
Entrees: fiance had the lobster papperdalle, which was ok. Again, the description was inaccurate. It should have read "papperdalle in lobster bisque with empty lobster shells as garnish." Gordon Ramsay would have shit his pants. We wondered if the "lobster" was really crayfish, but to be honest, we didn't care at that point. It was too funny.
I had the linguine and clams. The clams were over done (common, they are very delicate) and my pasta under done. Not al dente, but it was raw. I didn't finish it and didn't ask for a box. Our waitress came and asked how everything was. We said that it was ok, and she let out a very cheery "Great!!!"
The ultimate insult I can give a place is not wanting to see their dessert menu. We did not look at it, and our waitress asked if we wanted to see it just so we know what we're missing. We sternly said no, we had no interest. "Great!!!"
So, to make a long story even longer, we paid and left. We could have complained, but it wasn't worth it. We wouldn't want them to comp another meal there, as we will never return and will never recommend the place to anyone.
In a nutshell: if you are looking for mediocre AT BEST Italian food in a setting that is akin to a chain restaurant with flair, go nuts. You will love it, especially if you like fake accents. The servers do an awful job at the accents, but at least they try. I guess.

I was afraid... I was petrified... but NOW... I can't live without you by my side!
I've never been a fan of smoked salmon. Always been too strong of a flavor to me. And THEN... I had the smoked salmon penne... O... M... G... This is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. That super strong smokey flavor wasn't as prominent. I think the cream balanced everything out. I TOTALLY recommend this dish!
The seafood spaghetti was a good contender though. The seafood was fresh and the sauce was very light, but the pasta was still flavorful. But nothing got me licking my chops more than the salmon penne!
I miraculously had room for dessert and I just HAD to try the tiramisu. It was nice and light. Had a nice espresso flavor and it wasn't totally soaked in alcohol. No one ever likes a soggy cake. =P
This place makes me happy. I can't wait to try more authentic Italian goodies!

Great menu selection and wine list.
I have to give another "BRAVO" to A' Bellagio for yet another fantastic meal last night! With all the dining choices out there, seriously why go anywhere else? This is REAL ITALIAN cuisine and not a Buca Di Beppo or Maggiano's type joint . This is the only place I have found that actually cooks pasta the way it is meant to be eaten, a perfect al dente. The food preparation and waitstaff have always been spot on. The wine list too is not your standard cookie cutter list, you will find a nice selection new world boutique wines as well to an extensive old world wine selection. I was also very excited to see a few new additions to the menu as well. Thank you Pino and Staff for yet another wonderful dining experience! You do an amazing job bringing Lake Como to Campbell! Ringraziarla! Lei è il migliore!

Il Cibo Molto Buono!
A'Bellagio is clearly BEST AUTHENTIC Italian dining you will find in the Bay… Read more »
I went here last Tuesday for lunch with my boss and co-worker! The food here is excellent and authentic italian. Yum!!! The service was even better!!! My coworker is a vegetarian; she had the artichoke and pumpkin ravioi. I am not a vegetarian but when I tried her raviloi it was DE-licious!!! I had the spaghetti bolognese! My boss had the fish...none of us were disappointed. Let me tell you. The portions were big and plentiful. For what you pay here...you get much more than some other italian restaurants in Campbell and the prices are cheaper too!!!
I really like the ambiance here and the traditional menu selections. I like traditional italian food, not all the fusion crap you find these days!
We started with the ensalada mista, which had a great viniagrette and huge roma tomatoes, carrot, radish and onion.. Very tasty.
The bread was okay... they could improve here with a more crusty, warm style bread. The tomato topped almost breadstick type concoction served seemed out of place at this type of italian restaurant. It seemed like it would have been more appropriate in a pizza place.
I ordered a pasta with mussels, clams and prawns in a light wine marinara with tomato, but had the mussels and clams swapped out for scallops. The scallops were overcooked (major disappointment) but had a great taste and the prawns were very good. That she offered to alter the dish for me got them the 4th star here. Our waitress was excellent. Service is slow, but attentive. Our bread basket was replaced before it was even empty, and my water glass never reached below half full.
My boyfriend ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies, which was also yummy. I would have prefered a more hearty serving of side dishes had it been my own plate, but he seemed satisfied (and couldn't keep his hands off my pasta dish either!!).
Nice atmosphere with cute italian music and friendly staff. Good food and prices that aren't through the roof for the quality.

BURRATA = A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
Soft like butter, so fresh and creamy, please tell me this stuff is healthy because we had 3 burratas.
The pastas are rich and very satisfying. They are generous on the eggs -- love a restaurant that isn't afraid to put eggs on their pasta. It adds a richness to the dish.
Tirmasu was light and lovely. My Asian parents that despise cheese and are lactose-intolerant (as am I, but I don't mind the consequences) gobbled it up.
I went to this restaurant tonight and let me say that if you are a foodie, please avoid it. The problem is that the results are horribly mixed.
Good:
The gnocchi. It was delicious.
The pasta. Clearly homemade. Al dente. Cooked nicely.
The carpaccio. Standard fair.
Bad:
Meat. The lamb was served raw. I sent it back. It came back raw again. The man said, "I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it rare." I did. Raw is not the same as rare. The proteins were not coagulated. It was gummy raw. The ribeye, I asked for medium. I got well done. I cut it open in several places and showed the waiter. Well done. He apologized and took it back with the lamb. The result was akin to the lamb. It came back well done again. They clearly did not let the meat rest. It was dry as a bone and difficult to eat even with the sauce.
The polenta tasted quite strange. I don't know what kind of mushrooms they use, but they could do with more cooking. The polenta had a very strange texture. Everyone at the table found it unpleasant.
The calamari was also too overcooked. Also, it is cooked with zucchini which creates a flavor which is not nice.
The waiter: the waiter was very nice as was the rest of the staff. It's a shame that the food isn't cooked better. I think that they'd do well to do fewer things, focus on their pastas and avoid meats.
If you do decide to go, I think you could squeak out a better experience than we had. Avoid the appetizers, go for a salad, eat the gnocchi, and maybe go for a dessert.
Very disappointing and expensive evening.

OUCH SO CLOSEEEEE to 5 stars from me!! SO CLOSE
4.5 stars!
only half a star taken off was cause my pasta had TONS of cracked clam/ muscle shells in it, i had ot keep spitting it out, not a fun thing to do. but besides that the paste was top notch! loved it! good bread, good paste, good service, good atmosphere! will come back again for sure! and prices are decent as well! what else could you ask for?! well except less cracked shells i guess!

If you're the type that's more impressed with volume over quality, then go knock yourself out at Maggiano's or Buca Di Yucko. If you're looking for an Italian restaurant with both taste and character, it's hard to go wrong with A Bellagio in Campbell.
Decor:
Wonderful restaurant that's up to par with taking a date, or taking a grandmother on her 80th birthday. Overall the place has a warm look to it yet not as stuffy as you would assume. I think they do a good job with both class and casual.
Service:
Service was a bit slow, but very pleasant. I'm not going to knock their service because I get the feeling the service is slow by intent, allowing their customers to enjoy and relax in their establishment.
Food:
Like I said before, this place is NOT about volume, but they do serve wonderful dishes. A little on the salty side (I'm sure that's just preference) I can't really say a negative thing about the several dishes we tried.
Beet Salad - this was an excellent appetizer with nice presentation, but to my surprise, I found out it is not a traditional salad.
Vongole alla Marinara - Their clam appetizer was excellent
Linguine alle Vongole - Linguine with clams was great
Cacciucco alla Livornese - This was delicious, very similar to a cioppino, and great for dipping your bread into.
Ravioli - I didn't see this on their normal menu (maybe it's one of the daily specials) but this was a great dish, not too overbearing with cheese like other places.
Value:
Like I said before, it's more about quality than volume, but at the same time, value per volume of food just a tad on the low side that I would ding this place a minus 1 star for it. It's not a place voracious stomachs would get full from, but for most normal people, the portions are just right. Besides, do you really want to eat that many carbs?
Al Bellagio in Campbell has a public parking lot in front of the restaurant but when we went, the parking was full. We were still able to find street parking on a Friday night. Al Bellagio was quite quaint and it has outdoor and indoor seating. Since this being our first time eating dinner here, we were a bit skeptical when we walked in. When we entered and sat down at our tables, the servers were very attentive. The décor and ambiance was very mellow and romantic, and the Italian music played in the background quite softly (the opposite of Maggianos or Macaroni Grill). Even though, I did not go to the restaurant with a date other than my sisters, I still felt all warm and fuzzy inside. It just felt nice that I enjoyed my time. The plates that we ordered were fantastic! We started off with the special: eggplant (it came with 4 pieces). So, we had to cut the last eggplant into 3 parts; one for each of us. We had to be fair. :OP Then, we ordered 3 dishes, the seafood stew, pasta with lobster, and the spaghetti. All 3 were very good. The spaghetti (their specialty) was awesome. It was so tasty! Also, all the noodles and pasta were cooked to al dente. Perfect! We finally have found a place that knows how to cook pasta! Yay! I can't wait to go back again! :O)

Went here for a friend's b-day dinner. His wife knew one of the waitresses. It is a cute restaurant - romantic decor and outside seating. The entrance/waiting area was a bit crammed as I kept getting in the way of the wait staff while waiting to get seated.
My friend had asked for a sweet champagne and our waitress whipped up something for and tailored it to her (sweetness) liking. The waitress also remembered what our friends had ordered the last time they were here which was really cool in helping them order this time around.
Appetizers - the Calamari Fritti was standard and the Strudelino di Verdure
(Flaky pastry stuffed with fresh vegetable in a creamy parmesan cheese sauce) was yum! Anything in puff pastry is yum to me.
Dinners - the b-day boy got the lobster ravioli with shrimp and cream sauce special. It was so yum that his wife who ordered the Spaghetti Scoglio swapped with him.
My bf also got the Spaghetti Scoglio (Mussels, clams, prawns sauteed in olive oil garlic white wine marinara sauce) which was tasty with plenty of seafood.
I ordered the Spaghetti Bellagio (Parma ham, egg yolks, oregano, parmesan cheese in a marinara creamy sauce). I thought it would have been a bit salty, but it was perfect. Everything from the amount of ham, sauce, saltiness and flavor was just right.
Dessert - The b-day boy got a complimentary Tiramisu - yummy. My friend and I shared the spumone which was also yummy.
The food here was way overrated, seriously.. it took us forever to get our food, and when we did my gnocchi was so sub par that I didn't finish it, and the rest of the other food like the beef carpacio and special appetizer of fresh mozzarella platter was soggy and too dense.. not buttery and melt in your mouth like I am used too...
The braised lamb was ok, I guess braised anything is good, so they have that on them... the meat fell off the bone but the flavors weren't so great..... The worst part of it all is that our waitress was really bubbly, and sweet, so we couldn't get really that made... but at the same time she kept bringing us food that wasn't ours.!!! wtf.....
in the end I wanted espresso so I got that, but in addition to my espresso was their complimentary lemoncello .. which I don't mind because who can say no to free lemoncello???
I don't really care much for this overly hyped place because compared to my favorite italian places in seattle, this place doesn't compare...

Service is good. Pretty attentive and recommended when asked questions. But food is only ok. Presentation was not there at all. Both dishes we ordered had the same presenation. Aside from the main part, there was a scoop of mashed potatoes and some vegetables.
The fish (the special for that day)my girlfriend ordered was definately something you could get elsewhere. The saltimboca was actually pretty good, but I don't think its something I can't get elsewhere.
When I came on yelp, I was going to rate a 3 star, but then upon ready what 2 star means "Meh, I've experienced better" I think it explains how I feel about this restaurant better.
Thank you for the good service though!
while walking in here, i admired the charming decor, and wondered if this was what places look like in italy. i hadn't even finished the thought in my head, when my friend mentioned that this place reminds him of a joint that he had dinner at in milan recently. it felt like we were in a villa, and the friendly and effieicient service completed the picture.
the olive oil they use for the bread was interesting, as it was unusually green in color, and had a strong olive flavor. although the bread was warm, which i like, it was somewhat lacking. they put too much flour in the bread, making it hard, dry, and dense. the food itself was excellent, though. i had the bucatini bellagio, which is thick noodles with italian bacon, egg yolks, and a creamy marinara sauce. this dish was so simple, yet the sauce was made so well, that it made the dish exciting. maybe it was the egg yolk that made the sauce thick, enveloping each noodle with exquisite flavor. the sauce was so smooth, and even gently twisted off into a pleasant aftertaste. my friend ordered the seafood spaghetti, which was gorgeous. there was lots of seafood in it, and it tasted like the noodles had just come back from an ocean cruise. we went to the cafe next door for gelato after dinner, which i later found out is owned by the same family.
I think this can be considered the epitome of first date restaurants. From the dim lighting, to the Italiano waiter, and cozy feeling you get when you walk in.
The service was great. I kept wagering whether our waiters accent was authentic or not because it sounded so real. Regardless he was attentive and nice.
The selection of entrees was very good and so was the wine list.
It was a week day so there was hardly anyone in there which was nice, because a reservation was not needed.
A very nice lady besides our waiter also came to check on us and you could sense the family owned, love your customers type of feeling from this restaurant. They even brought out complimentary lemon liquor shots to us which was a very nice addition to my gelato.
I look forward to coming back to try the other dishes.

I've been thinking of eating at this restaurant for a while now and my fiance's birthday gave me the excuse to, last night. I made reservations for 7PM, since the old man gets sleepy pretty early these days.
When we arrived there was a short wait, but we didn't mind. The interior was cozy and just the right atmosphere for a romantic dinner. There was not a screaming child to be seen. I love kids, but they kinda killed my birthday dinner at S Row.
We started the night off with salads. He got the Cesar salad and I got the Spinach. I liked mine, but it was a little too much for me. He finished every last bite, so I'm guessing that the Cesar was great.
I can't remember the name of my dish, but it had almost every type of seafood in a marinara sauce. Delicious! The SO had spaghetti Bellagio, which was also mighty tasty.
What would dinner be without dessert? Mine had a long Italian name that I refuse to remember, but it looked like a sundae and had strawberries and creme in it. I think that was my favorite part of the meal. The strawberries gave it just enough tartness to balance out the sweet.
What made this place fun, was the waiters Italian accent. Was it real? I can never tell. I gave him a little extra for sounding authentic. Fantastico!

Service was fast, attentive and friendly. At certain points our waitress was a little over the top, but high enthusiasm is better than no enthusiasm service. We got our bread and water right away when we sat down. They even lit the candle all within the first few minutes of sitting down. It would have been better if the bread was fresh and warmer.
Wine selection looked decent, the bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc we got was nice.
The cheese in the Caprese tasted so fresh and delicious. Careful, it can be filling. I got the rack-o-lamb which was so amazing and cooked perfectly. I prefer mashed potatoes, but the polenta was buttery and light tasting. Wifey got the seafood combo which had a very tasty sauce. I think the portions were large enough. We ended up taking a little bit home. Desert was also pleasant and not too rich.
Inside is a bit dark and yellow, but still romantic. We'll come back again to share with others, or sit outside for lunch, or another romantic evening.
I brought my family here recently for a birthday dinner based mainly on the positive reviews I saw in Yelp. I am sorry to say that the dinner was a very mixed bag. The two appetizers (calamari/veggie plate and the Vongole) were both excellent and worth coming back for. Especially the clams. Garlic butter sauce was delicious! But the rest of the meal was downhill from there. My pasta bolognese was average at best and was way too salty and sort of unappetizing the way it was presented on the plate 9anyone out there remember the Nonni's Pasta at the former cafe Marcello - now THAT was a bolognese!). The seafood pasta was ok but not great. Plenty of seafood, but sauce was average. And the biggest boof was the rack of lamb. Every chop was cooked all the way through without a trace of pink. That certainly wasn't the way we ordered it. And of course it was the most expensive entree at $32 bucks. It was pretty slow in the restaurant (6:30 seating on a Sat night) so it was inexplicable why the lamb would be cooked so incorrectly. But in this bad economy, we did not have the heart to "send it back" to the kitchen. Instead we "grinned and bear'd" it. Also the waiter we had was a strange fellow.
I don't know whether we will go back and give this place another chance. Probably not for awhile. Sorry.
So I took a friend here for her lunch birthday. It was just us two and I read that this place had pretty good reviews here on Yelp.
When we got there it looked like any normal looking Italian restaurant from the outside but once we got in... WHOA. This place has that authentic Italian feel to it.
The food is on the pricier side but I thought it was worth it. I ordered the special Salmon for the day and she ordered some pasta plate I dunno? She's not really into food. The bill came out to about $45 just for us two which isn't bad because this place is definitely good for romantic times yet to come. ;D
There was only one thing I didn't like and it was the receipt. It basically had my waiter's name on it and the final cost. No explanation of which plate cost what... Which leaves that small inevitable suspicion that this foo might be tryin to jack me, lol. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and trust him.
So this goes out to the brothas out there... Ya wanna take your lady out somewhere nice? This place is one of them.
Nice little gem tucked away in Campbell, this place gets 4 stars from me.
Service: 5 - we had a party of 8, so 18% gratuity was added. Service was what you expect with almost 20% added on. Everything was serviced promptly and politely.
Decor: 5 - Clean, comfortable, even the silverware was clean... You've been to those Asian restaurants you know why i commented.
Food: 4.8 - I had the Filet Mignon and it was perfect. Cooked exactly medium rare, the meat just melted, the sauce was flavorful without being over powering. Both the mashed potatoes and vegetables were very exactly to my expected consistency and taste. However the person next to me ordered Salmon and it was fishy! Salmon is never fishy! However we spoke to the manager and he said it was fresh, but was more then happy to offer something else. In fact he pulled out two tasty appetizers as replacements and comped the meal.
Price: 4.0 - $15-$20 for pasta, Fish/Steak $24-$35. A little higher then my normal price range.
Would i go back. YES. Price is a little higher but the quality is so much higher then most places.
Mmmhmm! I'm a big fan! Maybe it's because I'm so used to going to Italian restaurants and getting the typical fettuccine that sooner or later makes me sick. Not this place though! For dinner I had the penne alla sals..sals something. Not salsa. Oops I forgot, sorry! But it's worth searching for what I mean because it was incredibly yummy. Great size of a portion and every bite had just the right amount of flavor to it! It had sausages that weren't too salty or too sweet and tasted like yummy meatballs, sun dried tomatoes which were perfect with the whole pasta, mushrooms which added a bit more perfect to the already perfect dish, and spinach which I mistook for basil. But still would have been delicious with either one.
The waitress was pretty friendly too. Bread people came pretty fast, and so did the water filler upper as well. The lighting was nicely dimmed and it wasn't too loud. The old guy who sat me down even pulled out my seat for me..a little freaky, but nice I guess. Haha. But yeah. You know....even their water tasted perfect. Like it wasn't tappy at all. Mmmyeah I like this place. Good job.
Yelp to the rescue! We were doing some shopping and wanted Italian, so checked the Yelp iphone app (slick) and this place popped up as #1 nearby.
It did not disappoint. Nice decor, extremely friendly and efficient staff (from the greeter to the waitress to the water-dude). Portions were small, but please don't consider that a ding against it - I'm well sick and tired of plates loaded with food I couldn't possibly finish, and the dishes were perfectly suited to smaller portions. Lots of flavor, and beautifully garnished.
I had the veal with brown mushroom gravy, which was excellent, but it was my friend's gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce that had us all picking from his plate (much to his chagrin). Holy hell that was good, probably the best gnocchi I've ever had.
I reserve 5 stars for the OMG best in the world, which I can't claim this was, but if I could give it a 4.9 I would. Really excellent food, and we're all looking forward to visiting it again.
One extra node: I'd say it's every bit as suitable for a small, romantic dinner as it was the 4-person friend-meet we were. Probably a great place to impress a date (and not feel bloated and overfull afterwards). Plus you get all of downtown Campbell to wander around in afterwards if you want, definitely a plus.
You know it's authentic when the waiter just came from Italy two years ago! Okay, maybe not, but this place still seems like it's straight from the homeland.
We started out with an order of Calamari which comes with a cocktail sauce and a tartar sauce that veers on the mayo side. Because we had a birthday boy with us, they gave us another order of calamari on the house. Another well worth it appetizer was the Antipasto Italiano (Italian cured meats with olives, Asiago cheese, thinly sliced artichokes). You can mix and match what meats to eat with what and it will just all go perfectly together. Very high quality meat you're dealing with so you can't go wrong.
Gnocchi Gorgonzola - I was VERY deceived by this because the Yelp picture with the caption "gorgonzola gnocchi" isn't accurate!!! The picture is actually of Gnocchi Pomodoro (marinara sauce topped with melted mozarella). Needless to say, this dish is completely WHITE and absolutely drenched in gorgonzola cream sauce which depending on your affinity for this cheese, you may love or hate. In fact, I have a very love-hate relationship with gnocchi dishes. I loved the thickness of the dumpling and the creaminess of the sauce but after eating 1/4 of the dish, it was just too much. I kept alternating between bites of my dish and the bf's Rigatoni Alla Puttanesca (rigatoni with anchovies, olives, and capers) to balance out the flavors. Funny that mine was on the far end of the creamy spectrum and his was on the far end of the salty spectrum.
Of course I had bites here and there from dishes which included the Costolette di Agnello (rack of lamb in a red wine sauce over polenta), Caciucco alla Livornese (Clams, mussels, prawns, calamari, scallops in a white wine marinara sauce) and Penne al Salmone (Smoked salmon in a brandy cream sauce). Rack of lamb was incredibly tender. I wish I got that instead but it was $32. Seafood pasta was so diverse with all the flavors of the different seafood juices in it and the pasta was nicely al dente. The salmon pasta was very fishy but I enjoyed it. My friend originally ordered a risotto but they mistakenly made this salmon dish so we got it for free!
Overall, service was great. I'm going to be honest and say that we were slightly on the annoying side to deal with, even though it was all in fun. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and had kiddie birthday hats and noisemakers. We had a guy in our party who couldn't make up his mind on what to order even when the waiter came three times. We had a girl who wanted to make sure her pasta did not contain mussels and was substituted with sufficient prawns (this was hard for the waiter/kitchen to accommodate because apparently prawns are pricier than mussels). Despite all this trauma, our waiter moved past his initial displeased expressions and eventually started joking around with us. Because our main dishes took a while to come out, they gave us each shots of Limoncello which were VERY strong, tasty, and lemony.
This really is a lovely Italian place and I'm so surprised something like this exists in downtown Campbell! If I were you, I would definitely choose to sit outside because the inside is dark, musty and lacks good ventilation. Even though the outside is well, outside, it's covered and fairly warm. The setting is much better. The food is more intense, more salty, and more delicious. Great place for a special occasion.

I came here to celebrate my second anniversary with my girlfriend and had a good experience.
First of all, the wait staff is pleasant. "Good evening" they say, so politely and pleasantly.
The ambiance is nice and quiet, and the lighting is on the dimmer side. It's a good place to unwind and relax over a good meal.
We ordered the strudelino as an appetizer which was very good. The pastry was flaky and delicate and the vegetables were savory. We ordered the halibut and the pasta, the specials they had that day, and it was tasty. I felt that the cook(s) had paid special attention as they created each dish.
I had a good experience overall and would come back again.
YUM! My hubby and I went here for Valentine's day 2009 and, while it was quite pricey, it was also delicious. The restaurant has a rustic feel to it but is also quite elegant. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying (he also had a strong Italian accent - real or manufactured? Couldn't tell), and was helpful in chosing a wine for my entree.
We started with yummy rustic Italian bread, and then moved to antipasto of salami, carpaccio, cheese, and other assorted goodies. The salads were baby spinach leaves and diced fresh fruit in a balsamic vinegarette. Then came the first course - risotto, salmon-stuffed crepes in vodka sauce, and gnocchi in a lamb ragout. For entrees, my husband chose the salmon-stuffed trout and I had the filet mignon. Desert was a sample of three different treats - a cream puff, spumoni, and a chocolate mousse. Everything was SCRUMPTIOUS, but the standouts for me were the first course, my husbands salmon-stuffed trout, and the spumoni. Wow.
The only reason I'm not giving the restaurant five stars is because we felt cramped at our table. There was very little room for the waiters to move around, and we could almost reach out and touch the tables that were next to us. Fortunately we were surrounded by mature and refined people rather than crude loudmouths. At the risk of sounding like a snob, I'd say the cost of the dinner ensured a more sophisticated clientele, ha.
Gorgonzola gnocchi: Mmm, interesting. It's pretty straightfoward, all cheese, and all gnocchi. A bit disappointing because there's no other flavor except cheese and gnocchi, but the title says that's what it is and that's what you get.
Polenta: Hmm, interesting...is all I can really say.
Clams: Broth wasn't all that flavorful, amount of clams was sparse.
Went out of my comfort zone and tried two things I didn't really care for: gnocchi and polenta. I found them both "Hmm, interesting" and not "eeeeh....puke" A Bellagio at least made my night "Hmm, intersting" . Probably should have stuck to the seafood or sausage pastas that I know I love. Maybe next time.

Oh. My. God. Went here with my husband last night and split a bottle of the '06 Sangiovese. This restaurant just continues to amaze me. Split the beef carpaccio which was divine and then dove into the homemade gnocchi gorgonzola. My husband had the spaghetti bellagio which he said was the "best past he has ever had in his life". For dessert we split the cannoli and topped it off with an espresso (how could you not?)
This restaurant always continues to amaze me. The food is exquisite. The wine is divine. The waiters with their gorgeous Italian accents and impeccable service are amazing. And the best part? A 2 minute drive back to my house after an amazing meal!

If I ever head out to a restaurant for dinner, Italian is never my first choice. A friend took me to Bellagio's and I vaguely recognized this place from my drunken nights at the Kings Head (which is now called The Spot) next door.
Inside, the decor is romantic and cozy. I ordered the Risotto with Salmon and was blown away! Make sure you wait a minute for the risotto to cool down so it reaches that perfect creamy texture. The portion was definitely generous, I took the rest to go.
I also ordered a glass of a dry house Chianti which complimented the creaminess of my dish nicely.
My friend ordered the Gnoochi Gorganzola which tasted like little decadent pillows of cheesy goodness.
I can't WAIT to return. Macaroni Grill is McDonalds compared to this place.

Serves up what I hear is authentic Italian food. Since I'm a Mexican Persian mix, I am never quite sure what 'Just Like Italy' really tastes like...but I'm game for something new.
I should mention up front that we had a gift cert from the owner, Pino, to try the place...after he found out while we were eating at La Pizzeria that we had never been to A Bellagio before.
The inside of this place is old-school. Dark and cool. I felt like I was dining in my Grandma's really nice mansion. Well actually, Grandma doesn't have a mansion but if she DID...I think it would feel like this. Also, we had A/C blowing on us which is a pet-peeve of mine, and I asked them to turn it down, but I think they thought I meant UP because it was even more crazy a few minutes later, hair blowin' all over. Oh well.
Food-wise...it was good, spaghetti bolognese is one of my favorites at any restaurant thanks to the mass amounts of MEAT instead of pasta, but it was very salty. I went through about 3 glasses of water...which yanno, H2O good for the body and all so I wasn't upset. Our buffalo mozz and tomato special app sure hit the spot. The bread was uber tasty though, I couldn't stop eating it. I think they were insulted when I asked for butter, because it never came. That's okay...EVOO better for me anyway.
Service...our waiter was nice looking, prompt with food, drinks, and most things we asked for. We didn't get the warm fuzzies and I swear he never cracked a smile, but he was efficient.
Skipped what I hear is (and looked like!) amazing tiramisu to head over to Cafe Campbell for exceptional dessert and tasty gelato. Bonus..it's literally almost next door and owned by Pino as well. I love his passion...he's always such fun to talk to.
Bottom line, this dinner was mostly free...because our bill for 4 was about $130 and our cert was for $80. Would we come back...YES...for a nice dinner with the parents. It's a nice, solid place, but it's not our scene on a regular basis. We tend towards Gardinos in LG for casual Italian.
My hub did love his lobster ravioli and I see they had gnocchi on the menu which we both love...so we will have to try that next time. 3.5 stars lingering around the 4 mark...maybe next time I will feel the passionate Italian love for AB.
