Had my first experience here today. I saw May(english name started with an S..sorry i forgot!) I learned she was new AFTER i got my massage. But, it worked out..she was great! She gave the right amount of pressure at the right spots. She even found some deep knots in my shoulders that i didn't even know i had!!! Deep tissue or swedish, she can do!

It was no fancy shmansy place. But it was quiet and clean..and for $40/hour...that is a STEAL!

Although, the place was a little chilly. It was in the 60's today in pasadena and so when she moved the blanket and wiped off the massaging oil,  I got goosebumps! Maybe it'll be better on a warmer day.

BTW Parking sucks. They only have two spots in the back. I parked two blocks away and walked, which i didn't mind. But just a heads up for you lazy people lol

Came here for a girl's day out and got the full body massage for $40/hr. I thought the experience was quite pleasant. My masseuse paid attention to my "problem spots" and lightened the pressure accordingly when she saw that medium pressure was too hard on me. She didn't make conversation with me, but I found that just helped me to relax as she gave me the massage.

The place is tiny, but clean and quiet. Parking can be difficult since they only have 2 parking spots in the compact area behind the building. It's quite a drive for me here, so I don't know if I'd come again when I can find other places around me, but overall A Beautiful Day Spa is A-OK in my book.

Came in on a Sunday morning - I had made an appointment and was contacted by management to come in 10 minutes earlier.  After sitting in the waiting area for 25 minutes I was taken into a room.  The woman who would perform my massage told me to disrobe and place a sheet over myself -FINE- the sheet was actually half a sheet (barely covered me).  I laid on the table but the opening for my face was so small I could barely breathe.  I experienced one of the strangest massages ever (I have had Korean Spa experiences if you know what they entail!)  At differing times I felt very exposed (buttocks  or my leg would be placed in a position that pretty much inappropriate).  A few day after my massage my back was hurting - I looked at it and I am covered with bruises - never have I gone ANYWHERE and gotten bruises from massages!  Perhaps that is what I get for such a deal......

    BUYER BEWARE!

My wife and I are regulars.  We have tried many places from Pasadena to Hermosa Beach, including Glen Ivy and none give the personalized and professional service like A Beautiful Day Spa.  We have 2 month old twins and it seems like every muscle in our bodies are sore.  Julie and Kim made us feel like new people, I even feel an inch taller!  They really got in there and restored our tired muscles.  The place is always clean and quiet, so we can relax and enjoy. We stand by our opinion and give gift certificates as gifts!  As well, they offer acupuncture for a variety of ailments, which successfully cured my teeth grinding-amazing!  You will not be disappointed.

This spot is a GREAT choice when you are willing to forgo the day spa aspects of a Burke Williams to save some money.  Don't get me wrong, I love a $130 spa/massage experience as much as anyone ... but sometimes I don't have the time for it ... and other times, I don't want to spend quite that much.  A Beautiful Day Spa is the perfect compromise.

It's clean, quiet and the staff is very kind and attentive.  Some other reviewers have griped about the music, the tables, etc ... but I am confused as to why.  Surely you don't expect to pay only $40 for a ONE HOUR FULL BODY MASSAGE and get a fluffy robe, hot tea, a jacuzzi and a live performance by Enya?!!  COME ON people.  This spa is perfectly nice--just without the frills ... you know, the ones you are paying Burke Williams another $90 to enjoy.  I'm not made of money, and while I maybe can splurge on a Burke Williams day once a year ... I am grateful for a place that lets me afford to get an actual massage for a much more affordable rate more regularly.

I chose the 1 hour Deep Tissue massage--and Linda (my massage therapist) did a beautiful job.  As other reviewers have noted, there isn't much conversation or instruction ... but she was soooo very warm and gracious and she paid attention to the problem areas I noted on my chart.  She gave my neck and shoulders extra attention and though I walked in there with some major pain, I left feeling incredibly relaxed and better.  She was very thorough and applied the perfect pressure--I happily tipped her more than 20%.

Meanwhile, my fiancé got a reflexology massage.  One hour for $20.  I thought I wasn't hearing things properly.  He was thrilled with it ... and said his therapist did a wonderful job as well.

The only hard part was parking--but I can't totally fault them for that as some jerk had taken up one of the only two spots they have designated in the lot.  There are several community pay lots nearby on Colorado, so its not a huge deal.

So, if you are a demanding diva who wants big fluffy towels, hot tea and rose petals on the floor ... this isn't the place for you.  But I personally think you are a bit ridiculous to expect the frills and service level of a super expensive elite spa of a place that is giving you an incredible rate like a mere $40.  Do the math.  That's not even a full third of what it costs to go to Burke Williams.  A Beautiful Day Spa is friendly, clean and cozy.  You get more than what you are paying for ... and for that I am grateful and definitely going to be returning.

After researching dozens of spas in Pasadena and realizing that most places charged $85+ for a 1-hour facial, this place almost seemed too good to be true. When I called for a quote, I was told that a 1-hour facial cost only $40. Looking to save a little money, I booked an appointment for the next day.

PARKING: I was told that they have 2 free parking spots in the back, but lo and behold, I couldn't find them after circling the area 4-5 times. Almost late for my appointment, I finally decided to park in the neighboring parking structure that charges $1 each 15 min, maximum of $10.

FACIAL: The esthetician spent the first 2 minutes cleansing my face. Then she turned on the steam machine and spent the next 20-25 minutes literally massaging my face and upper chest/arms, and it didn't even feel that good. I couldn't help but think that she was trying to waste time and I was a little annoyed because after all, I came for a facial, not a massage.

Finally, she turned on the bright light, and told me that if I wanted an extraction, it would be an additional $15. Although I was annoyed that they weren't completely honest about the pricing from the get-go, I relented because the main reason I choose to pay for facials is for the extraction. After all, I can cleanse my own face at home, but I can't do my own extractions.

EXTRACTION: Unlike other spas that use an extractor (which I prefer), she used her fingers and Kleenex, which hurt 10X more. It hurt so much and I honestly felt like I was being tortured. I was definitely grimacing during the painful extraction. However, not once did she ever ask me if the pressure was too hard or if she was hurting me. After the extraction, she cleansed my face again and used a cooling clay mask, which felt SO good after the torture she had just put me through. She did a scalp massage for 5 minutes, then left the room for 10 minutes and returned later to take off the mask and cleanse my face for a third time. After this, she put some type of liquid Chinese-smelling "medicine" or so she called it, onto the areas that she had just extracted, and let me tell you, IT STUNG LIKE HELL!

Overall, this wasn't a very relaxing experience. I definitely learned my lesson and next time, I will pay the extra money for a more professional and enjoyable spa experience. My $40 facial ended up costing me $71 ($40 facial + $15 extraction + $10 tip + $6 parking). I don't think I'll come back here for another facial. Maybe I'd return for a massage - it's hard to screw that up.

I think it was about a year ago that I had a good college friend in town for a visit. She had never had a full massage done before and I had heard great things about this place from another friend, so I made an appointment for both of us.

To be honest, that was the first and last time that I will go there. My massage was okay. Not great, not bad. But the thing that I have issue with is that my masseuse had a cold. Full on sniffles. During the entire hour massage, I could feel her massaging me, then lift one hand to wipe as she sniffled, and then go back to massaging me with the same hand without washing or anything. I should have said something but I'm way too non-confrontational. (To be fair, she was massaging me through a thin sheet, so her hand never actually made contact with my skin, but still. Gross.)

One, it's bad enough to have a cold that you could spread. But, even worse, you massage me with the hands that you're wiping your runny nose with? She was a sweet enough gal, but they need to improve their sanitary practices.

I got the lamest massage ever. Came here with my BF. He told me his masseuse was pretty good. He got some really young chick. I got some middle age lady. She sucks ass. She did not know any of pressure points and the massage did not feel good. They had me fill out some card before my massage. I mark strong pressure but the massage felt...hmmm...let me see if I can describe it....you know how you put on lotion and just rub it all over you....that's how the massage felt. I kept waiting for some pressure to feel good but it never came. She was all over the place and did not know what she was doing. When the massage was over, I told the guy in the front that the massage was not good, and I told him why. I don't think he understood. Yes, $40 bucks for an hour massage is cheap, but if the massage sucks, it's not worth it.

    My first review! Cool!

Anyways, I read the reviews on yelp and had to check this place out. I had been achey in my shoulders and needed some firm pressure to work out the kinks.

I got the 60 min body massage for $40. Honestly, not the best massage I've ever had, but DEFINITELY would be the best hour long massage i've had for **40 bucks**! Julie, the masseuse, asked a few times if the pressure was enough, which it was. My only true qualm was that the music (albeit very quiet) was kind of like elevator music, i'd rather have none at all.

I will be back again to try the $20 foot reflexology/back massage soon!

I made the best choice of my massage life today when I decided to come to "A Beautiful Day Spa". I have been traveling for work, for a week and decided to pamper myself with a massage. After looking at reviews online, it seemed that this place was a definite 'bang for your buck'.

They were able to get me a massage right when I walked through the door at 2pm. I had Angel who was truly a massage angel! If you don't speak Chinese, it'll be tough to communicate with her. Thank goodness for college Chinese since I was able to tell her where my problem areas were, and she could give me feedback on my tense areas. For someone with dainty hands, she sure knew how to get into my deep tissue and work out the knots.

I got the full body massage, and it was well worth the price! Anytime I come back to Pasadena, I will be sure to visit.

    Thank you Angel!

Long over due review.... My husband & I came in a few months ago for our anniversary we had an 1hr couple swedish massage. The experience was blah. The massage was inexpensive. The masseuse got some knots out but that was pretty much it. I was extremely sore which didn't happen in my last massage. My husband wasn't impressed either. We definitely won't be coming back. I guess it's true you get what you pay for!

I set my mind to surprise my boyfriend with a Couples Massage. Little to say we were the ones surprised.

There were many signs at first. Their Intake forms does not ask for specifics on client med history, current rx meds, etc. Nadda amigos. The therapist did not come out to greet or meet with us. The front desk guy moseys us into the room. Confused for sure we wonder what will happen next.

This is the undressing part? There is no top sheet - it's a half thing? There is huge bottle of Jergens. A therapist cannot get friction with Jergens (I speak from exp)

We give it a go. Two female therapists come in and do not say a word. Mine proceeds to fling my sheet upwards and reveals my naked body. They do LOTS and LOTS of over the sheet compressions. After several minutes of this uncomfortableness - she uncovers my back. She drops several COLD Jergens lotion into my back from far above. Shudder. Later she hops onto the table and is near my butt. She jams my undie deep into my ass crack (it was NOT the right time of the month to be doing that!) As I continue to deal with this ordeal I look over at my boyfriend.

HIS therapist is straddling him! She shoots me a look - the NERVE!

This set us back $110 with tip ($80 service + $30 tip) The front desk guy was SO ecstatic about the tip he left the rest just laying out on the table. I went into this place because he had good reviews from my fellow yelpers but I was VERY disappointed with this establishment. I left feeling violated and stressed.

For $20 the reflexology treatment worth every penny!   I found this place from yelp after a long day of hard work volunteering to build a house.  My neck, right shoulder, and arm were extremely sore.   I called to make 2 appointments just about 1hr early and it was no problem.  The place is nothing luxury but really quiet and clean.  The guy worked on my husband and the woman who worked on me were both excellent and thoughtful.

The treatment started from shoulder and back massage with a foot soak. We were both filthy from working at a construction site but they still treated us very nicely.  They use some lotion/oil that smelled like sandalwood and it was very pleasant, relaxing, and not overly sticky.  They then gave us a head massage, and worked more on our neck and shoulder and arm.  They finished with a very nice leg/foot massage and by the time I was completely passed out.  That's how great it was. I felt 5lbs less after the treatment.  The best thing is on the next day we are both sore-free!

I read about the tip ($8-10 dollars despite the reflexology was only $20) so I was aware of it.  I didn't try to give them less so when they got $10 tip each they gladly accept it.  I think even for $30 it's absolutely amazing.  I'll definitely come back and recommend it to anyone who want a amazing cheap treat!

My boyfriend and I came here last night for a massage at the last minute.  We planned on going to another place we never been to but it looked real suspect so did a search on my phone and found this spot!  So glad we did!

It is strictly a massage spot and very small but it was super great!  We did the couples massage which the room was pretty small but the ladies were awesome!  They definitely work your muscles out!

It was $40pp for an hour.

    Definitely would go back.

if i'm ever in pasadena, i'll come back here.

the parking was fairly easy for colorado blvd in pasadena. the prices... are amazing. its like a full body massage. they lean you over and do your entire back too. they have tip recommendations, which i find to be appropriate, but might as well charge me $30 instead of $20, you know what i mean?

they were sweet people. the guy was a bit difficult to understand, but i won't complain too much. he was soft spoken and nice.

my boyfriends masseuse was telling him where he was tense and stuff, which was nice of him. he pointed out the spots, worked on those spots a bit more, and explained.

    hehe. i like nice people.

Ok.  Pretty good first time try.  You can never know about these places.  My hubs tried the reflexology and said it was pretty good.  I got a whole body massage.. and to tell you the truth.. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take my clothes off or not..

So.. I decided to get naked.. and make it a surprise for the poor unsuspecting Chinese girl masseuse.

At first, she didn't massage with any lotion - so I thought.. WHOOPS... maybe I was supposed to wear clothes?  *AWKWARD*  But then she eventually busted out the lotion and worked her way deeper into my muscles.

I appreciated that she kept asking if I needed more pressure.  But I'm wondering if she looked at my chart at all.

See when you first pop in.. you get a sheet of paper where you circle all your trouble spots.  I definitely did extra circling on my right shoulder/arm -- but I guess it's not all Angel's (my masseuse's) fault.  I think my knots like to attached right on my bone, so it's really hard to get to - for anyone.

Overall, I think she was very efficient with getting to all parts of my body.  I do think I needed more time on my back and shoulders... and I think maybe she's right handed... cuz her right hand/arm motion was dope.. her left arm/hand work seemed a little less precise -- which is sad because my right side is the side that needed more precision.

Language barrier was a little difficult -- hence the uncertainty about getting naked... cuz I did ask LOL..

I'll definitely go back and check it out again.  For the price - not bad.

PARK on the street.  There is parking in the back, but if you go at night, you might fight with all the people coming in and out of ice house.

NOT a frou frou spa.  You can hear through the walls.  But it's clean and organized.

    My new place for massages!

My boyfriend gave me a gift card to this spa because I had a very stressful week. The massage hit the spot. My entire body was so tense, and now I feel wonderful.

I usually hold all of my stress in my upper traps. I told the therapist this, and she did a very good job of focusing most of her attention on this spot.

Yes, it is a small establishment, but it is very elegant and quite on the inside. They have parking in the back, so you do not have to worry about finding street parking.

I cannot wait to go back and try their acupuncture!

    I highly recommend this Spa!

For $20 a full body massage for an hour you can't beat that. Especially when it's in Pasadena.  It's located right on Colorado blvd. Right across from new Delhi restaurant.  There's parking in the back.  kind of confusing because the businesses had assign parking with there business name on it but guess what a beautiful day spa had no parking space with there business name on it. So I called the spa and the man just told me to park anywhere.  So I did and luckily I did not get a ticket.  It was probably because it was a Sunday. I would suggest to find parking on the streets better. Just to be on the safe side.

It's a very clean and quiet little place.  There was actually two things that I didn't like about the place 1st was that the workers couldn't speak any English and 2nd was that in the front desk area had a how to tip sign saying good massage $8-$10 and very good massage $15&up.  When I first came into the shop I liked the whole atmosphere then when I got to the front desk and saw that sign I was like that's not right.

    Overall the massage was good.

I am a regular patron of the $15 hr San Gabriel foot massage parlors; Exotic (nice and clean) and formerly went to Joyful (but they didn't clean and I got creeped out from the hair on the chairs and them using wet (used!) towels on my feet)
I have been to Beautiful Day 5 times in a couple of months; I adore foot massage, it's my luxury.  I recommend the foot massage. Very relaxing and soothing.
I have always paid cash and been very happy. I wish parking was easier.

I went with my friends the very first time for a foot massage. $20 for one hour! Can't beat it.  I went back with the same group of friends for my birthday and I got a full body massage for  the price of a foot massage. Because there are 5 of us and they only have 2 rooms and 3 chairs, my friends got the foot massage and my friend and I got the full body massage because of the rooms and limited space.

Service was good too. The people are nice. Seems like a family owned business. I plan to go back and bring my husband.

Pluses: clean, good location, great extended hours, with decent pricing.  Cons: Not the best massage for the money.  I came to the location late on a Sunday night with pain in my back that I couldn't ignore.  I was happy to have them accommodate me when I called, and ten minutes later, I was in a massage bed nekkid.  I had asked for a hot stone add one which was more like a lukewarm stone add on.  They only charged me $5 instead of $10 and they apologized saying if they had "known" it would be warmer.  Hello, its the end of the day, your stones should be warm.  I get it at the beginning of the day in the morning but not in the evening.  Also, the man in the front came to tell me something WHILE I WAS GETTING UNDRESSED and he cracked the door open.  I did not tell him it was ok to open the damned door.  I think Thai yoga may be the only kind of massage for me at this point, because the deep tissue one I got (with lukewarm stones) was just a little better than OK.

However, I am willing to come back because it did seem very promising.  They had some kind of massage promotion for packages that were very cheap.  They are also the kind of place that has a big sign for what appropriate tips are.  Really?  There is always a part of me that wants to say to places that usually only do one service per client (as opposed to a random sum of numbers off a dining bill) that if you have to ask, you probably don't deserve it.

I get regular massages a lot--from luxury spas to foot massage factories. I can attest that a good massage has nothing to do with price - as I've had good massages for $50 and mediocre massages for $150. The full body massage here for $40 is meh -- at least, based on the particular therapist that I got -- no technique, poor communication skills, no recognition of my problem areas (despite filling out a piece of paper in the front).

I'm sorry but brute force does not make a good massage. The table is also extremely uncomfortable and the sheets are rough.

Plus, you can hear the sounds in other rooms and there was no air circulation in the private rooms (and no relaxing music for ambiance).

For the same price, there are a lot of better options.

My future mother-in-law was in town visiting me, and she wanted us to do a spa day so we could bond. She asked me to choose a place to get facials and massages. After reading countless reviews on Yelp, I decided to make an appointment here. I had already been here before, but for a full body massage.

There isn't much parking in the back or on the street but we were greeted in a friendly manner as we entered the spa. The young Chinese guy confirmed our reservation and then asked for us to pay for our services ahead of time. I told him we wanted to pay afterwards and he was fine with that. They make you fill out a sheet of paper with information, including an indication of where your pains are located.

This time I decided to try the $20 head to toe massage, where you are sitting in a chair with your feet in a bucket of soothing hot water, and you are being massaged fully clothed, from head to toe. For $20 you can't beat the price. They massage your head, neck, back, arms, legs, and feet all in one hour. The woman who was working on me was great, and pretty strong. She got to all the spots I had indicated on my sheet, such as my neck, shoulders, and upper back. She actually digged in, as I specified I wanted hard pressure.

The facial I received was awesome, and probably one of the best I've had, not to mention it was only $40. Aida did a great job on the facial, even including a face and head massage as I laid there.

My future mother-in-law came out raving about the place, saying that was probably the best facial she ever received (and she has had many facials). I will definitely return again for the $20 head-to-toe massage and the $40 facial. We tipped the women well for their excellent service. I'm returning in a few weeks to get the deep deep cleansing facial just before my wedding.

GREAT GREAT GREAT massages here, $40 for full body and $20 for feet/back/neck/arms both 1 hour.

Its not a fancy lil place but they get the job done, make you feel completely relaxed and try very hard to make sure you're comfortable (especially the owner, VERY sweet man and gives one fantastic massage).  I've been coming here for over a year now and brought many ppl as well as referred others. I'll definitely be coming again.

Best value for a massage in Pasadena. They take it seriously, and can accommodate a request for couples massage. I'd recommend Lucy, but have never been disappointed with any of the staff.

Another favorite Pasadena joint...$40 for a full massage, yay! Trudy rocks! She does this incredible thing with her thumbs on my spine, and loved loved loved it! Was disappointed that she wasn't available when I came. I had Linda, and she was pretty good as well. Though a little too talkative...less talk and more massage! Two stars off because of the parking...gets packed pretty easily, and so $5 parking lot across from Ice House. Another star off because the owner or whoever else that works the the front desk gives me funny looks when I add on the tip afterwards. Be professional, and don't make a face right there and then...it just makes you look bad....

Good massage, reasonably priced. My only complaint is the massage table. Extremely uncomfortable! The hole is too rigid and small. It stops circulation to your face. And your neck will be uncomfortably positioned. If it were not for the massage table, I would visit here more often.

Full body massage: $40 for an hour. The price is decent and way cheap for the LA area. Or actually, any massage for an hour. I'm a happy camper and will def. go back.
