It absolutely kills me to give this place 4 stars.  It really does.  Why, then, are you giving it 4 stars, Justin?  Well, put simply, my dog loves them.  Or better put, loves his dog walker Richard.

The people who work there, including the owner, is an absolute flake.  Which, if you are going to walk dogs, is probably a good thing.  Special note if she reads it: I know my dog and my dog does not quote Buddha or whatever other new age crap purportedly comes out of his mouth ...

But back to him: in the beginning, I was pretty frustrated with this service because they had no consistency and our puppy was getting walked somewhere in a 2+ hour range.  That worked itself out as the bladder got bigger.

Over time, though, I've learned something about this company: they love dogs.  They really do.  Our dog, Carter, has had more than his fair share of stomach ailments over the years.  They've taken the time to clean up after him, climbing in his cage to clean him and the cage up.  Companies don't always go that far.  They've also picked him up at our groomers when we've asked them to in advance.  And I don't know how many times they have fed him and our cats on night walks.

They are reliable, bonded, and love our dog.  And what else could one really ask for in a dog walker?  Oh, outside of faux-philosophical quotes from the pup's mouth, that is ...

I will be honest - I gave this service 2 stars, but still use it every day.  Bark has been walking our dog for almost 7 months and things have been a bit "sketchy".  He's a puppy, so consistency is key, yet he's walked at a different time every day and a different person week to week.  Did I mention they charge $12 a day for a 20 minute walk?  I'm in the wrong business.

Update:  We have had the same walker for the past 4 months and I'm actually getting quite comfortable with him.  Props to Bill!  Good job!  I'm adding another star...

And just like that, right back down in the gutter.  After a solid year with Richard, whom Carter loves, A Bark has started to flake on us recently.  I wont go in to the gruesome details, but it involves Carter having an accident all over our back room carpet around 9:00 a.m., and Bark not doing anything about it except leave us a note saying "Carter had an accident all over your back room carpet around 9:00 a.m.".  Um, thanks.  I'm not asking you to clean it up, but give me a phone call at least!  Dogs do not generally explode all over your living room b/c everything is ho-hum, fine and dandy.  CALL ME.  LET ME KNOW.  There's nothing I love more than having my poor husband come home from work and be greeted by the overwhelming smell of poop in our home.  Gross.

I hired A Bark in the Park to walk my dog twice a day after he was diagnosed with lymphoma. His medication caused him to drink a lot of water and need more walks. Sadly, this was the only service that seemed willing to deal with a special needs situation, and I was desperate.

Dianca didn't bring the walker with her when we first met. I had no opportunity to meet the person who would walk my ill dog and have keys to my home. Her excuse was that the walker was walking dogs at that time. Well, then schedule the first meeting at a time when both of you can make it!

My dog lived only about 5 weeks after I signed up for the service. At the outset, Dianca said she needed two sets of keys--a backup in case one set was lost. She had a checklist; I saw her check off that I gave her two sets of keys.

About a week after my dog died, I asked for the keys back. A good business owner would have offered them back immediately. The worst part is that after the walker returned one set of keys, Dianca told me she didn't have the second set and that I had only given her one set. I was extremely upset and told her so. Then I told her to check her checklist. Of course, I never heard back from her.

Any dog walker who a) doesn't bring the walker at the first meeting, and b) loses keys for a client with a terminally ill dog and then tells the client there was no extra set of keys should get out of the business. Thanks, Dianca, for making a heartbreaking situation even worse.
