I have been here twice now and have to say I am so disappointed! I was looking forward to an A&W opening in my town and was filled with glee when we went through the drive through and ordered our first meal. The first time around I got a chili cheese dog and cheese curds and a root beer. The dog was so smothered it was more like chili that came with a hot dog and bun jammed in it. The cheese curds were cold and bland. The root beer was a lot more cream soda tasting than I remembered. Maybe I have had one too many Barks Root Beers?
The second time we came through I got a Steak House Burger with onion rings and a root beer. The burger was all Texas toast and barely any burger & they forgot to put the tomato on it. The onion rings were ok but again - not warm. I didn't finish my root beer.
I am still hoping I will find something that I really like on the menu - but so far I can't help but think that Sonic kicks A&W to the curb in value and taste. I feel like if I am going to go to the dark side and eat fast food - it should be worth the punishment to my body to eat it. I am just not going to pay $7.00 for a combo meal that is less than mediocre in taste.
