I normally don't write reviews for fast food chains, but after eating here they deserved some coups! The one feature that prompted me to write this review was their customer service. Hands down!

The two girls working here were really on top of everything. The service was quick, the food was brought to my table, they even wrote my name on the receipt. I guess I was taken aback, because I was expecting your average fast food customer service from teenagers who couldn't give two shits about the job they are working. This place is exactly the opposite. They were friendly, polite and the one gal knew what the A & W stands for!

On the occasional fast food splurge when I am just too hungry to slow down and make time for a healthy dinner, I would come here again - for sure!

P.S. I'm not including any comments about the food, because it was A & W  here people. No complaints. Nothing to write home about. Just A & W food done well. Cheeseburger, fries, root-beer float. The End! : )

Our first time ever trying an A&W restaurant. This place was super cool. They were having some kind of a car show with a bunch of old school rides, right outside of the restaurant. The drive through area was clean and clear of debris and the speaker was loud enough to hear. Customer service was EXCELLENT.

I had the bacon burger and chili fries with a large root beer. I was actually stuffed after eating the burger. It was larger than most other fast food places. The root beer was flavorful and had a great scent to it. The food was so good that i later drove back and ordered dessert. When I got back up to the window the server remembered me and was just as nice the second time around.

If all A&W spots are this good than they have a new fan for life.

THAT was the freshest most tasty bacon burger I have had in a long LONG time.   It was cooked (real meat?) and usually I pluck a buncha shit off my burger NOT THIS TIME!  Tomatoes, lettuce, pickle, onion, even the bacon was noteworthy, I was chowing it so fast I forgot to snap a pic!

Fries were only so-so but the root beer was so cold and delicious that I got brain freeze.

A little spendy, but I am not sorry I did!

Since I'm OK with eating leftovers, and had rice, fish sauce, and grilled pork left over from Asian Noodle after boarding, hubby was able to pick anything he wanted to eat for his own post-boarding dinner. Considering he loves walks through the FOREST, he would also love anything with chili cheese on it. Out of ANY, and yes, I mean ANY (he won $$ the night before) restaurant to go to, he picked A&W.

Going in, it looks like any fast food joint. But each table had a small juke box. I asked the manager, and he pointed out which tables worked, and which didn't. They really DO work though, so that's pretty cool. Hubby ordered 2 coney island chili cheese dogs, and chili cheese fries. I didn't try the dogs, but he said they were way better than Sonic's. I tried the chili cheese fries, and it was off the hook. I love it when they use melted nacho cheese, instead of the rubbery shredded cheese like at Wienersnitzel. (psh, I'm a classy fast food connoisseur 8itches!) lol!

The root beer came in a glass mug. We thought it was free, and even went around taking mugs from the tables around us....umm..yeah, they're not free...**blush**.

Good enough spot to keep hubby happy. Chili cheese fries always keeps me happy.

I'm no fan of root beer, but have always been curious to try this place out anyway. I felt like a fish out of water though, as every other patron had their frosty mug refilled while I sipped Pepsi from my paper cup.

The burger was solid. I got a cheeseburger meal thinking that it would be some rinkydink little burger, but it was actually pretty decent in size and in flavor. Add some fries and a corndog for good measure, and I had a pretty good meal.

Definitely a nice change of pace from Mickey D's/BK/Carl's etc.

There aren't too many A & W restaurants in the Bay Area. The closest one would be in Oakland and Millbrae, and those cities I don't go too often as well.

No matter where the restaurant is located, I still enjoy going to the A & W restaurant for its 50's diner-look, the food and of course, the famous Root Beer Float. I went to the only Reno location within the Downtown location (there are three A&Ws in Reno and another location in Sparks).

I came here for a light dinner. And with Reno's evening temperature in like the 30's and being windy and cold, it didn't stop me from having and enjoying the famous Root Beer Float. For $5.95, I get the famous Root Beer float in a thick stein with the A & W: 90th anniversary emblem on it. The frosty treat is indeed authentic and take me back to the days on how diner foods in the 50's is suppose to taste like. The famous mug is mine to take home. I also had a fish sandwich for $3.00. Despite being messy with the nasty sauce, the fish sandwich was good enough to hold me over until the next morning.

Like I aforementioned, the diner has a 50's like diner-look with a drive-in and a jukebox with classic hits. The workers were very friendly and helpful, despite the fact that I was asking too much and made a mocking request for Lady GaGa's Pokerface song to be played on the jukebox. (MY MY MY POKERFACE)

In the 50's, Diners like A & W only accepts cash. In present time, this A & W accepted my Visa.

I miss A&W from the days of my childhood and I was happy to stop here for a ice cold root beer the other day when temperatures were well above 100 degrees and I was thirsty. I did not eat, but that root beer really refreshed me!

I grew up next to an A & W in Minnesota so some of my fondness is due to the past.

It is a good place to eat if you still like burgers and fries and are tired of Macs and Whoppers and the like at the super big chains.   The root beer still comes in frosted glass mugs if they are not too busy.  When they are busy they seem to run into a mug shortage.

There is a high school just down the street so if you are driving,  watch out for the kids at noon and after school.  They seem to have a problem crossing the streets properly.   They also come here for food so you will have a wait.   They do have a drive through.

Closest competition is a Jack in the Box across the street and a Denny's.   I like this place better.
