Reminds me of an old school Brooklyn meat market! If only they had wood shavings on the floor! Everyone here is always happy, smiling, super nice and helpful. Not sure what you want? They are happy to help you out no matter how vague and confused you are when trying to order  "uh...I want...meat!". It is where you go when you want a good top quality piece of meat, and the prices are perfectly reasonable, if anything a bit on the cheaper side. They also carry Pastosa ravioli! I have been happy with their homemade sauces and soups as well. Keep doing your thing, A&S.

the potato croquetta was so/so (to thick in my opinion) BUT the mozarella is AMAAAZING (i love the one that is already seasoned) and I also tried some food they had prepared, a mix of potatoes and sweet onions, OMG, it reminded me to my grandma traditional (and amazing) dishes, you can definitely feel its homemade, and it was still warm when they sold it to me! Really good job guys :)

A regular customer here.  If you want quality food, shop here.  Pricey? Maybe. But you get what you pay for.

Regarding the food from my last visit, I would caution them to take it easy on the salt.  No reason to drown the food in it.

I must admit that I am completely biased, because I am unquestionably head-over-heels, forever and always in deep, passionate, worshipful love with meat.

Yeah, I said it. I love meat, and A&S does it right. They've got all the cuts you want at prices you can afford. They've got fresh sausages and cheese and olives, marinated and wrapped meats, great bread, a freezer full of pasta and sauce (osso buco!), perfect meatballs and big, beautiful arancini.

And best of all, it's a happy, meaty place. Everyone is smiling and joking; the butchers can't wait to help you out, and the cute girls are ready to ring you up.

If you live in the Bay Ridge area and you aren't buying your meat here, get your life in order.

My father have came here many time, so while I was in Bayridge I'd thought may as well get my dinner here.

I bought sausage and peppers, Eggplant parmesan, and pasta with broccoli. Both the Eggplant parmesan and pasta with broccoli was delicious. The sausage and peppers I had wasn't much flavor, and it seem to have miss some spice.

This place has a great selection of Italian food, and for great prices. My order came out to $15.47( and that feed two people)

The arancini is EXCELLENT - the service by the guys is good and chatty (the woman there is a bit snooty if you don't look Italian). I love their chicken roulades - the broccoli rabe is wonderful and the mozzarella so rich and creamy. I look like I should be making sushi, but learned to cook Italian from the best.  Another Bay Ridge gem that I'll walk miles to get to.

This place has been around for a long time. They recently renovated and the store looks great. At the front of the store, you can find various types of breads. Always fresh and delicious. Like most Italian Specialty food stores, they offer cheeses, fresh sausage, cheeses and olives.

The fresh mozzerella is pretty good here. A little bit on the salty side but perfect for salads or paired with fresh basil. The hot sopressata could be 'spicier.' but at $10.95/lb, the price is reasonable. The ground sirloin was delicious in fresh marinara sauce.  The service here is excellent. Very helpful and friendly.

Okay, so I'm a vegetarian, and this is a pork store.  However, I'm an equal opportunity reviewer, and this place is fun.  I have a minor crush on Mel, one of the managers.  He showed me how to make mozzarella.  Granted, there were five other people there, and my hubby and baby were waiting at home for me, but there was something between us.  I think it was cheese curd.

They make their mozzarella in-house.  In fact, Mel is one of the two or three people who makes it by hand every day.  He made these cute little knots that were then dunked in flavored oil.  We got to eat them a minute and a half after they were made.  SO GOOD.

The deal is this:  get five of your peeps to cough up $30 each and you can get a private mozzarella making lesson.  It is at about 7:30 PM, and it makes for the perfect beginning to a night of dining in Park Slope.  That, or a night of drinking.

When we arrived, we were shown to the back and there were potato croquettes, rice balls, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and some meats (I think one was prosciutto and another was pepperoni, but like I said, I'm a vegetarian) laid out for us.  If we had known, I would have suggested that someone bring a nice bottle of red.  I'll bet you could do that if you ask nicely.  Each time we had to wait five minutes for the mozzarella to soak in the salt water, we got to dig in.  The second time we had the fresh knots to accompany the other treats.

Cheese curd feels really good between your fingers.  I could have just squished it for hours.  It is also an exquisite feeling to smooth a loaf of mozzarella again and again.  However, if you do it too much, it gets tough.  Bummer.

At the end of the lesson, everyone gets to take home one of the freshly made loaves!  Whoo-hoo!

I can speak from experience, the store is kept really clean and the food looks excellent.  Check out the link below for an article.  Enjoy!

They have moved to a bigger space and now have a new name -- M&S Prime Meats -- but it's the same ownership as A&S Pork Store.  It's now on 5th Ave between 2nd and 3rd streets.

They have many cuts of meat, sausages, pastas, sauces and delicious sandwiches made to order.

    I love it here.

So I walked in on a Saturday and when it was my turn I said bluntly, "this is my first time here, I heard it's really good, what's a good sandwich for someone that likes meat?"  The face of the woman behind the counter lite up, turned to her friends (behind and in front of the counter), said "did you hear that", smiled at me and said "how about chicken parm? you like that?".   Yes, I do like that.   But soon we changed it to veil parm since I like that more.  Juicy, big, Italian-American style, breadcrumbs all over my face and shirt.  I loved it.

I *heart* A&S. They make amazing cold-cut sandwiches, like the namesake A&S sandwich, a meat-lovers dream. A crusty hero filled (stuffed!) with a combo of sliced-to-order Italian meats and their amazingly delicious homemade fresh mozzarella. This sandwich is huge, enough for 2 people! They also have a large selection of raw meats, sausages, prepared foods (antipasta salad, fried eggplant, meatballs, aroncini, and more!), cured meats, and their fresh mozzarella as well as smoked mozzarella.

This is my go-to market for all of the above, and the men who work in there are so friendly and sweet, I wish they would train the people who work at Key Foods how to treat customers.

For a while this A&S was bare and disappointing compared to the one in Gravesend, from which my mother in law blessed the holidays with a bounty of magical meats, cheeses and marinated and roasted vegetables that I would look forward to like a child at Christmas morning.  I'm not sure how long it has been since they redid this location, but it is probably the place I go to the most frequently, even if just for a pound of their roast turkey, which is incredible.  The sandwiches are great and everyone is very nice behind the counter, even if you are asking for a sandwich with a thousand toppings. The fresh mozzarella, marinated button mushrooms, marinated artichoke hearts and roasted red peppers are top notch, as are the hot peppers stuffed with provolone and prosciutto.  Also, the pesto is out of this world.  It's all typical Pork Store fare, but better than the others.  It can get pretty crowded and disorganized at lunch, so be warned.

It seems that most people here are talking about A&S' Park Slope location, but I want to give a shout out to the one in Bay Ridge.  I eat a few of their meatballs for dinner a couple times a week since I've gone low-carb -- and a better meatball I have never, ever tasted.  The guys who work there are funny, engaging and very helpful.  This is authentic Brooklyn Italian at its finest!

This place is in Bay Ridge.....I grew up on 90th and 5th.  I have memories of this pork store going as far back as when I was 5 years old.  I was born in 1960 so this place has been around forever.  I left 90th Street in 1981 and stop back from time to time for the veal.  It's the best in the world.   It's not packaged its cut from a large piece then pounded.  Went yesterday and had the same experience.  Great, bread and cheese as well.  WOW this brings back memories.

It's not particularly common to find an establishment in Park Slope at which the proprieter will go out of his way to make sure you've gotten the maximum amount of food for your dollar.  The fellow at A&S, friendly guy with a slight Brooklyn accent, seems to derive real pleasure from maximizing the magnitude of his sandwiches.  He once made me a massive chicken parmigiana hero, and actually bragged a little as he wrapped it up about the amount of chicken cutlets he'd placed on the sandwich.  I could tell he wanted to see me happy.

In the bourgiest sector of The Slope, where so few people give two shits about anything but themselves and their street-blocking strollers, it's nice to find a sandwich crafted with such pride, soul and sincerity.  I haven't purchased any of the meat from under the glass counter, but there's something about the way that it's displayed and the milleu that surrounds it that makes me want to buy one of everything available and drape myself in it; to be subsumed in an avalanche of meat.  Honestly, it looks good enough to eat just sitting there raw.

I've also not tried any of the delicious looking deep-friend gutbombs sitting on top of the counter, but its only a matter of time before i succumb to the cholesterol-laden melody of their Siren's song.

Great owners who are nice and take pride in what they do.  Delicious meatballs.  Delicious rice pudding.  Everything is fresh and made with care.  This type of establishment has become a rarity in Park Slope these days.  If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out.
