Review from Gina K.
Came here on my way back from Ikea. I needed some groceries and while I had a car, decided to buy all the heavy things I normally hate shopping for.
This A&P is hugeeee. They have a really great selection of just about everything. I loved their alcohol section (they even sell hard liquor at this location). I bought a gallon of sangria wine, which was my favorite purchase of the night.
The place wasn't too packed (it was a Monday holiday evening) and the lines moved pretty quickly. I had no trouble at all finding everything on my list. The cashiers are pretty fast.
Overall, had a great experience here. -

Store is great however there never seems to be enough check out lanes. In the morning there is only one lane open and in the evening there are just enough lanes open to have a queue of 5+ people in each lane.
The automated checkout area helps a little bit but can get just as crowded.
I started to frequent the H Mart in Linwood Plaza for 90% of my grocery needs because of this. -

Grocery store that sells beer. yes please.
Sell beer and wine till 2am. typical supermarket selection of beer, most exotic beer they have is smuttynose. followed by dog fish, magic hat, then its pretty much downhill. They sel 30's and 40's but no malt liquor. They stop selling liquor at 10pm. and they don't start selling till 9am.
food.. i never bought food here before i cant comment on that. -

New York, NY
Very expensive to shop for food products but if you like to drink beer or wine, then this place is for you. It has a large selection of wines and cold beer.
Emergency use only for they are open 24/7 -

Formerly known as the Food Emporium, I come here only for one thing: alcohol pickup en route to visit friends in Fort Lee. While there is an entire aisle dedicated to cold beer, I will say that their wine selection is also impressive for a supermarket (an entire section).
For a oenophile, this is a very nice thing.

Whaaa???? I am in shock that this place has such a crummy rating. Maybe they're coming from people who are spoiled with suburban food shopping. I fell in love with this grocery store last week! The prices are half of what you find in Manhattan, the produce was decent, the cheese selection was great and, to boot, they sell wine. That's all a grocery store needs to win me over...good fruits and veggies, good cheese, and good wine...I'm sold!
No lines at checkout around 7pm on a weeknight and the cashier was the friendliest I've ever encountered when food shopping.
This place was a score in my book. -

Fort Lee, NJ
There was a time when this was a 5 star supermarket. Alas, that time has passed. The A&P chain is in chapter 11 bankruptcy, and it shows. When this store opened, it was a Food Emporium, and it was one of the best supermarkets around. But over the years, the things that made this place a special place to shop have slowly slipped away. It used to carry a wide variety of specialty foods. It seems everytime I go there now, there is one less specialty product. Also the general condition of the store is deteriorating. The shopping carts are probably the biggest offender. They are all rusted and bent, and it's a minor miracle to find one that doesn't have a wheel squeaking or pulling or thumping. But A&P in Fort Lee is the only "normal" supermarket left in town. All the others have become Asian supermarkets (H Mart, Han Nam Market), which cater to the area's Asian population.

Leonia, NJ
Pleasant store to shop in. Employees are helpful and nice which I find is an exception in Bergen County. The store is well lit and logically laid out. The in-house bakery tends to overcook just about everything they bake. Most cakes and cookies are nearly charred on the bottom. This of course causes the inside of the product to be dry as a bone. The meat department sells only Angus Beef but the prices are competitive. The head butcher is informed, friendly and aims to please offering custom cuts and slices.
The store reminds me of home in California. You can buy alcoholic beverages, albeit only a fair selection- but some fine wines, which takes a stop off my errands list.
Overall, the prices are higher than average but they do have great weekly specials and often 50%off markdowns on discontinued items or overstock. The Fort Lee/Leonia/Englewood/Palisade Park grocery store choices are few and far between with many chain grocers closing their doors in the last couple of years. The may be your best choice. The only thing I'll go back to Shop Rite Pal Park for is the delicious homemade bagels...can....not.....resist..... -

Nice big place...a huge upgrade over Food Emporium (which was what this place was called before turning into A&P).
The inside is very nice and it has a huge selection of food and drinks, and a huge selection of pre-made food. They're also open 24/7. That's one stars right there.
But, the customer service there and the employees there...are quite unpleasant....minus four stars for that. I'm over 21, and one time I was looking in the alcohol section. The manager walked by and asked for my ID because I look under 21. I told him I'm allowed to buy alcohol and I'm over 21. He gave me such a hassle, so I just left. He's such a prick.
Also, the prices are very expensive -

As i'm from ny, this place surprised me w/ the sale of alcohol. There was a wide selection of alcohols(not to sound like an alchy) from beer to vodka to wine. And the prices were quite decent. Did I mention its 24 hours?:)
