Review from Evan B.
While headed home to Florence Italy a talented chef got a bit lost and ended up in Florence AZ. This is my hypothesis of how this great place came to be.
I for one did not expect to find such a great place so far off the beaten path.
Walk in and you find a counter to order at and a classic menu board full of Italian classics from pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, salads and more.
I went with the classic two slices of cheese ($2 each). The crust was ideal soft with a slight crispness to the bottom, the sauce was great full of flavor and not sweet or acidic. The cheese was nicely melted however I would have liked it to be cooked slightly more.
My coworkers dishes came with a roll on the side which I tried part of. It was very soft, and great. They also enjoyed their meals.
They do have a $5.99 2 slices of peperoni and a fountain drink deal.
They also have a small selection of items to buy near the entrance, artisan pastas etc. There is also a coffee bar and nice patio here too. -

Well, I have lived in Florence for 3 years and have gone to A&M several times. Every single time it's always been horrible. HORRIBLE service, plan on sitting at your table for at least an hour before being served, Horrible horrible horrible food and the place is absolutely filthy.
I keep giving them another chance (simply because there are not many options for places to eat in this area) but I'm done. I can't do it again!!!! We ate there last night and my husband made me promise I'd never make him go there again.
I hate writing a negative review on any business but this is probably one of the worst place we have ever eaten. Hands down. We've had the pizza, calzones, and just about everything on the menu. I gave them an honest chance.
I honestly don't know how anyone could ever give this place a good review in any way.
If the bathroom has dust, dirt, grime and urine EVERYWHERE, toilet paper wadded up in the sink and in the corners and filth on the the doors and walls.....how? How does that happen and how could the kitchen be any cleaner?
Now lets get to the food. It tastes like their sauce was just dumped out of a can. Honestly, it tastes like you're eating right from a can of spagettios. It's horrible.
I paid $12 for lazagna last night. Waited an hour and 15 minutes for it to arrive and it was just gross. 5 layers of spagettio sauce, 5 layers of mushy noodles, 200lbs of low quality mozarrella cheese and zero seasoning. Honestly, it' was just horrible. I felt like it was something they dumped out of a can, put in a cute little dish and heated up in the oven.
I asked to speak to the owner so I could express my concern and our waitress told me the owners were not in. I ate 2 bites, ask for it to go and paid my bill. Fed that and my husbands Stromboni to the dogs when we got home. Cost us $30 for dog food for the night.
Never again will we go here to eat! -

Great sandwiches at lunch, fast service, good prices. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff, for such a small town this was a great find. The lunch specials are plenty of food and a great value.

In Florence for business, I followed my standard rule for eating outta town in a time crunch: look for the closest, non-chain, most-crowded lunch place. That brought me to A&M, and as usual, a solidly tasty lunchtime experience.
Interestingly enough, A&M is apparently a chain, with sporadic locations across the country. They claim to have chosen Florence because the town's name reminded them of their Italian grandpa, who was their restaraunting mentor. How cute is that?!
Pizza slices are prepped fresh, and are huge, thin-crusted, and greasy. The sauce is tangy, and the cheese has flavor. Mushrooms are a breaking point for me - nothing worse than getting served canned/jarred mushrooms at a restaurant - and the shrooms they threw on my slices were definitely fresh.
Definitely a dependable place to grab a bite if you're passing through. -

They make the best bread fresh for their sandwiches. Love their pizza but my favorite is the deluxe philly cheese sandwich. Wow it is so good. Great Italian dishes. I live in Florence so I get to go there for lunch or dinner often.

Their sandwiches are great: they make their own italian rolls, crisp bacon, tons of fresh produce. Mmmmmmmmm.

A & M is a great lunch spot in Florence. Their slices are tasty, the price is reasonable, and the service is friendly. One of my two favorite restaurants in Florence.
