Mia is the best! I first used her for a bridesmaid dress alteration, and then for my fiance & all of his grooms suit measurements and adjustments. Instead of renting, we bought suits through an online tailor at about the same cost. Only two guys needed any adjustments, mainly because they lost weight or wanted a slimmer, more custom fit. The bottom line with Mia is that she is totally flexible, and she has a sense of humor. She will explain how it is supposed to be fitted to meet standard trends or the designer's intent, but if you still want something different, she'll do it. She's there most days til 6:30 and you don't ned an appointment. While we were there on May 4th, a guy popped in & said, "Mia, don't hate me..." he needed his pastel pink dockers hemmed that day to be ready for the Kentucky Derby party the next day. Not a problem, she rolls her eyes.
We love you, Mia. You make alterations addicting. I have one arm slightly shorter than the other due to a childhood injury, and am tmpted to take all of my outerwear in for a slight hem. My eyes are opened to the world of custom fitted clothes. -

I'm dropping two stars for A & M Alterations. First, counter help is less friendly; same person but she acts like she is doing you a BIG favor anytime you give her business.
Second, what seemed like a great deal ($7 to hem a pair of pants) is now $10. I remember I had a pair of jeans that were hemmed here - albeit "too short" and I had to get rid of them because it was embarrassing. Plus, I had a special "project that needed 12 simple seams and she charged me $26ish (about a year and a half ago.) The most recent insult was $6 to resew a clasp on the waist.
After I pick up my item, I think I'm done with A and M unless I'm really desperate.Listed in: "Services" in the City

I found this place on the recommendation of fellow Yelpers. I was looking for a place to get some pants altered as I recently bought 3 news suits.
Not gonna lie, the place is not the easiest to find and when I came in it felt a bit like I was putting people out. I tried on the pants and they came over made made some quick marks, and I repeated the process with the other 2 pants. Came back a few days later and the pants were a great fit. Very happy with the work, the customer service and attention to customers left something to be desired. The price was excellent too as it saved me from the high tailoring costs the store wanted to charge me. I will consider going back in the future. -

So I've had been using Capitol Custom Tailor, which is now apparently closed or not in the same space, I can't tell......
But anyway, I needed a tailor for my jeans that I buy because I love to find a great deal on designer jeans, but since I'm only 5'2" I need like a foot lobbed off of them. 3 pairs of pants, 1 jeans - 2 dress pants hemmed = $30.00 and they are awesome! Not too high up but just perfect with small heels and she's open until 6:30pm so I c an actually get there after work. New stitching on my jeans blends wonderfully, I will be back, thanks for steering me in the right direction Yelp! -

I bought a very nice J. Crew wool pea coat at Goodwill at a great price ... only problem was the shredded lining. (A little curious what the story was there - but clearly it needed a home.)
Anyway, after a short and curse-filled session trying to fix it myself with needle and thread - then considering wearing it "as is" while somehow never revealing the ugliness underneath - I took it to A & M after researching on Yelp. She showed me that only the sleeve linings needed to be replaced, which I'm sure saved me some $$$. Turns out I did need to buy my own replacement fabric, but she gave me directions to the nearest fabric store and told me generally what to buy. It was kind of fun, really.
Best of all, the coat was done in a week, at a reasonable cost, with good workmanship to my eye. And I have a cool designer coat at a thrift shop price - plus it was probably saved from the landfill. Happy times. -

I had 6 suits tailored here. I couldn't believe how good the price was.
The quality of work, speed of delivery and friendly service were outstanding.
I've definitely found my Denver-based tailor! -
Review from Laura G.
I brought in 4 pairs of really nice jeans to be altered, and they turned out great! You can't even tell that it's not the original hem. My only kind of complaint is that they are a little shorter than I was expecting so if you like to keep your jeans really long, I would suggest having her hem them a touch longer than you think you need.
Also her pricing is such an amazing deal! -

I love Mia! She is THE TAILOR for me in DENVER and I'm so paranoid about bringing my nice jeans anywhere else. She puts up with my nagging "not too short, not too short" when it comes to hem and gives me good advice on what not to wear because "You Have Short Legs So Dont Wear It Like That" she said. A&M = Good Work, Good Advice, Reasonable Prices! I Heart You Mia!
If you're lucky, you will meet the Store Dog, Dandy, a Chihuahua mix though in the size of a Cocker Spaniel who has a pretty prominent lower overbite. Hahaha1 Previous Review: Show all »

i'm from real cities (like new york, chicago, boston) ... those places have that little random nook of a shop with the perfect older generation seamstress type person who's seen it all and can do what you need.
everything is professional at a reasonable price ... this is that place in denver. -

I never would have found this place if it weren't for my fellow Yelpers!
This place is terrific. I have been to a few tailors in my lifetime, mostly for weddings I am in, and they are outrageously expensive and take forever. Not Mia at A and M Alterations. I got two pants a dress and a sweater all altered for less than $20 and less than 5 days.
That, my friends, is exceptional service. -

I feel that this is the best place to go in Denver to get your clothes altered. I have taken it all there and Mai seems to hit a home run every time. I have had her work on sweaters, dress shirts, sport shirts, pants (hemmed, and tapered) and a pea coat including both the coat and liner. Each time the work is outstanding, her stitch work is great and she works with patterened shirts/pants to keep the integrity of the lines throughout the piece of clothing.
I have recommended her services to many of my friends and have felt that my yelp review is long overdue. Your search for a reasonably priced and outstanding tailor/alterations specialist is over! -

Las Vegas, NV
My Vegas dress needed some major modifications (and by modifications I mean making it waaaay shorter).
I used to go to a lady on 64th and Sheridan, but I always thought she overcharged me. So thanks for my Yelpers I decided to try A&M.
The store is easy to find, a little bit east of 38th and Sheridan, located on the south-side of 38th. There is plenty of parking in the rear of the building. I couldn't help to notice all the dogs barking next door due to the dog grooming business. I feel so bad that she has to hear them bark all day!
Mia- I assume the shop owner? Was very nice and professional.
She mentioned my dress had some (insert alterations lingo here) so that made my dress a littler harder to alter. My bill came out to $20.00, not sure if that was high or not. Overall, I picked up my dress a week later and it seemed like good quality work.
I will put the work to the test when I'm dancing like there is no tomorrow in Vegas! -

I have taken my clothes to another place in the area to get alterations and have had to return multiple times to get stitches redone. So I gave A and M a try. I have only ever seen one lady there and she is super friendly. I have some pants hemmed and they came out great. So I had her alter the waist of some dress pants and they came out good too.
I noticed she ha dry cleaning there too So asked about it. She can accept clothes to be pressed and cleaned. I gave it a try. The shirts came back nicely pressed with the right amount of starch. So I decided to let her clean one of my nice suites. They came back very clean, not faded and well pressed. I was very impressed with all of her services. -
Review from Kate G.
Thank god for Yelp and learning about this little gem! We have been living in a dry cleaning and alterations void after banning Carousel Cleaners from ruining our clothes. My husband took some items here that needed alterations and then we found out Mia will take dry cleaning too! Not on site as far as I know, she takes it to "a friend", but who cares? $14 for a suit and 3 dress shirts, yes please! She is quick and efficient, but most importantly, meticulous. The hems were straight and perfect. I'm so relieved and can now empty out my spare closet of dirty or ill-fitting clothing.

This place is great... everything you'd want in a tailor: She does top quality work, stuff is done on time, and she lets you know upfront how much it will be.
I just had a tuxedo altered (major alterations to pants, jacket, sleeves, and shoulders) after losing 30 pounds... The work was great, and the price was 50% less than I had been quoted elsewhere. I will definitely be back, and will recommend her to others. -

I can't believe this place has just been quietly sitting here, waiting for me to discover it (thanks, Gitana!). I took in 4 pairs of pants to be hemmed on Tuesday and, although I told Mia (the owner?) that I wasn't particularly in a hurry, she had them ready for me by Thursday morning. This combined with the extremely reasonable prices, and the fact that the pants looked BETTER than when I took them in, leads me to believe that Mia is actually magical.

I had a great experience here. A friend of mine recently tried the place for the first time, so she recommended it to me.
They were quick, inexpensive, and did great work. They have a parking lot in the back, so it's easy to access. The staff is friendly. I'll definitely be back! -

I think her ability to tailor garmets is good. The problem is that she is rude and will say anything without shame. When I went in to pick up my dress, I brought a friend with me and the woman was openly critisizing the coat she was wearing. This woman has absolutely no tact. It is difficult though, because finding a good tailor at a fair price is a hard thing in Denver.
