After two years of looking, we finally found an amazing sleeper sofa on Craigslist to replace our futon (just in time for 10 relatives coming in for Thanksgiving). But with all of the bedbug and germ-y horror stories out there in the last few years, we felt it would probably be smart to give some professional cleaning services a try...That way we could just be lounging in our own germs, instead of someone else's.
Our inherited, cream-colored, overstuffed loveseat also needed a little love after 5 years and we figured why not give the mattress a once-over while we're at it, so we did a quick search for Chicago cleaning services on Google and saw some great reviews for A-Abace.
I gave them a quick call on a Friday and was able to book a Sunday appointment with no problem. Glenn and Tom were really friendly, quick but also very thorough, getting into all the details of the couch cushions to scrub away those years of furniture neglect. When they were done with the couches, our CL purchase looked like it came right out of the factory and the old cream couch felt light and fluffy again (no more matted fabric in the wear-and-tear spaces). They also helped me put my new mattress cover on my freshly cleaned old mattress and left us with a treated spot towel to help make it through any holiday-party mishaps that may happen while my family is over. And these guys definitely know their stuff. We talked shop a little about what to do in some worst-case wine scenarios.
We don't have pets (just yet) so I can't say for certain how soon we will need Glenn and Tom to stop by, but in the meantime, we will be highly recommending them to all of our friends. Thanks for doing such a wonderful job! -

We have cream-colored sectional and a dog, which equals lots of need for couch cleaning services! Glen and Tom have been to our place two times since we need to get the couch cleaned every 6-8 months to keep it looking new and to get rid of any pet "issues". They always show up early and are extremely professional, pleasant, and quick! They are great to work with and are able to set up appointments early and work around your schedule, even coming out on a Sunday morning. Also, they use all "Green Solutions" and it even makes the house smell nice. You would think it would be uncomfortable to have people in your home on a Sunday morning when you are still lounging around in your PJs, but Glen and Tom are so personable, it is more like having friends over! I'm so glad that I found them and I have no need to look anywhere else!

Love these guys. I have used them 2x for our sectional. We should have it cleaned more often but it's so huge that it runs quite a bit to get cleaned. The dog likes to eat her bone all over the couch and it gets spots on it rather quickly. Glenn and Tom are amazing. They are super fast, and not only will they clean your couch, but they degerm it, and they left me with a sanitizing towel that'll last for about a month to wipe down the couch periodically. Glenn explained to me about all the nasty germs and what not dogs bring in. Yes, they are more expensive than your typical couch cleaner. But they are worth the money, and I will continue to use them. Also as an fyi- cash or check only. So if you have a big job for them to clean, don't plan on financing it on your credit card.

I purchased some used furniture at the Lincoln Antique Mall. I asked the owner for a recommendation for an professional upholstery cleaner and she gave me Glen's number. After I got the couch home THE SMELL of it was worse than the soil. It smelled like some dirty old lady's apartment that had been closed up for about 40 years...
Well, Glen arrived with his "Green Solution" cleaning supplies so we are all clean and looking good now -- but more important, the house no longer smells like a dirty old lady. -

To prepare for moving for the first time in 8 years, I've embarked upon the Great Purge of 2011. Included in the purge? Everything in my living room.
A friend of mine is taking my sofa and chair off of my hands, and being the good friend that I am, I told her I'd get the couch cleaned for her. While I may be a good friend, I still didn't want to sink a lot of money in to cleaning a couch that I won't even own in 6 weeks.
Enter Yelp and A-Abace Cleaning Services. For the low low price of $100 and about half an hour, my sofa looks like it is brand spankin' new!
These guys were amazing. They showed up a little early but called to make sure I was home, and as we all know I am a fan of punctuality. They put shoe covers on before they came in, laid down plastic, and went to work on my couch. When I saw them hand scrubbing I thought, "we're going to be here a while" and turned my attention to the internets. Suddenly they were done and my couch was put back together looking great. So they do amazing work AND they work fast - WIN.
He pointed out right away they couldn't get one stain out, but I knew that was MY fault - when I initially spilled I tried using OxyClean to get it out - bad move! DO NOT USE OXY CLEAN ON FURNITURE! It will bleach the fabric and leave you looking like a fool. *hangs head in shame*
The guys were nice, courteous, and fun to talk to. We talked the economy, pets, my upcoming condo purchase, and he even asked me a lot of questions to make sure I was ready for home ownership - which made me smile because it is SO something my dad would have done.
I can't recommend them enough, seriously. Two thumbs up. -

These guys are miracle workers. Our six-year-old microfiber sofa, ottoman and chair had been through the ringer, thanks to a total of three different dogs and two different cats through the years, so you can imagine the seemingly insurmountable task these guys faced, and they now look as good as new. Quick, friendly and considering the cost of living room furniture, completely worth the expense. Highly recommended, especially if you think there's no hope for your furniture.

I found them on yelp after reading all of the good reviews. I was able to get an appointment quickly to clean my couch, which I really appreciated. They were prompt and professional and my couch looks brand new. I am giving them 3 stars however because they are way overpriced. ($155 to clean my couch with attached chaise) which came down to $149 after 10% discount from mention yelp. They alse tacked on $10 travel charge to come to Lincoln square a mere 3 miles. Bogus! Also, I only had $160 and they didn't even have $10 change- so they got an extra $10.

My boyfriend and I had some friends over, and our microfiber cream colored couch was in quite a state after. We were honestly thinking of tossing it out, but we decided to have it cleaned first to see if it was savable. We called these guys, and one of the owners was actually here, cleaning our couch. The work was absolutely beautifully executed, and quick as well! The two gentlemen were super friendly, and when I looked up from my work, I noticed the owner of the business quietly cleaning my (obviously not part of the couch) throw pillows the same way he cleaned the couch. It was such a thoughtful gesture that he absolutely didn't have to do, that we didn't pay for. He also left us with a dry cloth full of his very nice cleaner and instructed us on how to spot clean our couch as needed. I absolutely intend on recommending them to anyone and everyone, and asking them back when we need it again. (which we will, as we are clumsy, and love to throw parties) The owner was so kind and charming, that after he left, the BF said "I really wanna be friends with that guy!" (he also says that about the owner of Flub A Dub Chubs, so it is a nice compliment!
Last note: I did the research, and they were by far the most reasonable of the quotes I got, price wise. I would say we got amazing service, and quite a bargain to boot. VERY HAPPY! :) -

We had flooding in the basement but were able to save the carpet, so we need it cleaned. Called A-Abace to discuss.
First of all, they're pretty expensive: 43 cents a square foot our cost well over $300 for two rooms, hallway, stairs. So, not cheap, but that's OK -- we like clean carpet.
Once I told him we'd had flooding, though, he cut me off: he doesn't do post-flood work. He has a problem with spores, he says. I understand that's a health issue -- but is he the only guy who works there? There's no one else he can send? Guess not. :(
So, I guess business is good enough so they can turn down a willing customer, but not good enough so they can hire extra help that can deal with special circumstances.
God bless you if you get five-star service from A-Abace. Post-flood work? Look somewhere else. -

This is what I experienced with Glenn and Tom:
1) Cost was reasonable and exactly as promised.
2) I was able to make an appointment with them, not a block of hours.
3) They arrived on time.
4) They did a great job and were fast and friendly.
5) They are honest.-I made the bone head move of writing out the check for $100 more than the invoice. I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, one phone call and fax later I received a check in the mail.
Do yourself a favor and do business with these guy's! You'll be happy you did. -

I called A-Abace on Monday and had an appointment for upholstery cleaning the following day. Glenn asked all the right questions over the phone so was able to come prepared for the job. He and Tom arrived a bit early (I appreciate promptness!), confirmed the specifications then got right to work. They protected my rugs with drop clothes and wore shoe covers throughout my home. My two light colored couches--one yellow, one camel, look like new again despite never being professionally cleaned since I purchased 5 years ago. They look and smell like new. I would highly recommend Glenn & Tom of A-Abace.

Affordable, quick, friendly.
I called for a quote and they came in a couple days later and cleaned my couch post-cat pee. Now, not that I sniff a lot of pee, but cat pee has a very distinctive odor...distinctive and stubborn, this is no "stink" that some upholstery cleaner and Febreeze will take care of (as I've learned the hard way) so I was pleased as punch that these guys were able to get the smell out and in record time! -

5 stars again for A-Abace!! It had only been 5 months since my carpet and furniture had been cleaned so I was nervous about calling Glen and requesting a "small job" of having a few things touched up for the summer. It is obvious that any job - small or big - is handled with the same professional attention and care. My carpet and furniture are once again looking new and odorless -- worth every cent! They are truly one of my favorite companies to have in my home.

Couldn't be more satisfied with our experience A-Abace. They did a wonderful job on our two area rugs and 3 piece sectional sofa and even included a complimentary dry cleaning of all of our sofa throw pillows. They use all green materials and are in and out before you know it. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Disappointing that they wouldn't even try to clean my counches. When I ddescribed them as "canvas-y" he said they don't clean that type of couch. He also suggested I dry clean it. Dry clean my sofa & love seat? They only cost me $700 seven years ago!
I guess they have had experienes where the color comes out. Not sure how they clean things, but I've attempted steam cleaning and I've spot cleaned. Nothing has taken the color out. Honestly, nothing they could do could make the couch look worse. I appreciate the honesty, but I would have liked the warning to come with the option for me to proceed or not.
So, I'm going to have Stanley Steemer come out. I'd always rather support the little guy than go to a chain, but sometimes the little guy doesn't want my business I guess. -

Website advertises that they "clean wood floors." But when you call and speak to someone at A-Abace, they no longer do this work. Only do carpets and apolstery.
Person who answered phone was rude and when asked if he could suggest someone else for me to call, he said "no" and hung up the phone. -

I had two couches that needed a good cleaning.....both had normal wear and tear plus some wine stains and other mystery spots.....so I called A-Abace. They gave me a quote over the phone (which was very reasonable) and an appointment for a couple of days later.
True to their word they were right on time for the appointment....super nice and friendly......and got right down to business.....they were in and out in about an hour and a half! Later that evening I noticed that a couple of the spots were still there...so I called back and let Glenn know....I love that he didn't argue or question me.....just very nicely offered to come out the next day to take a look and see what else they needed to do. Again....on time for the appointment....and took care of the spots in less than an hour......and now my couches look fantastic....yay!
I would def recommend this service.....they do dry upholstery cleaning.....which not a lot of places do anymore.....professional, knowledgeable and friendly service.....do appointments 7 days a week (yes even on Sundays).....and the price is right! -

I have 3 cats. We made the mistake of putting a litter box under a table, on the corner of a nice rug. Lets just say the rug wasn't so nice anymore, and the cats made sure it stayed that way... =(
I called A-Abace and they came out the next day, shampooed the entire thing, helped me turn it so that cat-corner would be under a couch, and I paid them in full. 2 days later, we could still smell it from under the couch (I don't blame them - 3 cats is a lot to fight!) So they willingly came out again, scrubbed and shampooed it once more, and the cats haven't done anything to it since. Whatever they use - it works. And it worked 100% for us!! -

Professional and very knowledgable. Very easy to get a quote and schedule an appt. I had three pieces of furniture cleaned and the gentleman was on time, got right to work and give me some tips on keeping them in tip top shape after he left.
These guys are cleaning craftsmen. A dying breed - apparently some of the only people who can dry clean furniture if you need that. I was very happy with the work. -

I am in the process of moving, and the former tenants at the new place left a big cushy loveseat behind. Since I needed living room furniture (and I really liked the color), I decided to try cleaning it. Then I realized how much work that would involve, so I hired A-Abace to clean it for me.
They did a fantastic job! It was covered in dust & dirt & dog hair, and it looks almost new now. They were very polite when scheduling, arrived on time, and even took the cushions apart to clean them & check for mold/mildew. They used a dry foam method that left no residue & no smell (even in a very small room).
I would absolutely hire them again. I wish they cleaned ovens & refrigerators too, actually... -

I called and made an appointment with this service after reading all the great yelp reviews. On the day of the appointment, by boyfriend stayed home from work to be here when the cleaners arrived.
10 minutes after the appointment was to begin, the cleaners called saying that they couldn't find parking and that they were canceling the appointment. They said that they black-list certain buildings (apparently including ours) because the location is hard to park in. WHY would you schedule an appointment in the building/location then!?! We, of course, would have paid for parking, but they were off the phone before we could even offer.
My boyfriend called the owner to complain. He was completely unsympathetic, did not offer to reschedule, and did not apologize for the inconvenience caused in missing work for a virtual no-show appointment.
Definitely would not recommend. -

Glenn and Tom are AMAZING and the prices are reasonable and affordable!
Glenn and Tom rescued my furniture. Both pieces look like new, smell better than ever, and no longer irritate allergies!
I recently moved to a new apartment and my sister demanded I stop using plug-ins (she said it seemed like I was trying to cover something up). It turns out she was right . . . my apartment was hiding an awful smell. . .my dog!
I tried to clean my furniture with my own steam cleaner (bad bad idea). It only flooded the couch and chair and made it smell musty. In addition, my boyfriend sneezed constantly and his eyes turned bright red whenever he sat on the couch.

These people rock - seriously. Glenn and Tom came to clean couches and a futon that had been yucked by previous tenants. They were on time, thorough and clearly passionate about their work and company. The results were extremely satisfying for us. We can finally sit on our couches and have people over. We love that these guys own the business and do the job themselves - their commitment shows. They threw in free cleaning for all our cushions - much appreciated.

I hired A-Abace Services to clean my wall-to wall carpet and a sectional couch. I can recommend them without reservations for the following reasons:
1) They gave me an honest and accurate estimate over the phone

I recently got a tweed sofa off of Craigslist, which my dog also managed to get dirty with her paw prints. Called A-Abace for an upholstery cleaning and was totally impressed with their service. Glenn, the owner, gave me a quote and came over himself with his partner to do the job. They were both super nice and also gave me helpful tips on maintaining my sofa. I would totally use them again!

After reading all of the great reviews about A-Abace Cleaning Services, I was really looking forward to contacting them about cleaning my new apartment, which needs some detailed floor cleaning. I called them Monday evening and was told immediately that they do not clean wood floors anymore. When I asked why, especially since their website clearly states that they do clean wood floors, I never received an answer and was hung up on. Needless to say it was a very unpleasant experience which lasted no longer than 2 whole minutes. Hopefully this was a one time mishap in customer service and not a glimpse of how they truly interact with their patrons.

I am going to keep this very simple. A-Abace is the best in the business.
A-Abace cleaned our sofa and 2 very nice rugs. One is a very unique shag and the other is a classic oriental. The shag rug had a bit of ink damage after our dog decided that a pen would be an afternoon snack. A-Abace got most of the stain out. The other rug and the sofa both look terrific.
I would not hesitate to call them. If there is something they have had bad experiences cleaning, they will tell you. Other companies will come to you, clean (and potentially ruin) the rug/sofa, and hand you over a bill. These guys are honest from the get-go.
They are easily the best out there. -

I found A-Abace on Yelp and called for a quote. They were able to fit me in the very next day- on the weekend, I was very pleased. Glenn and Tom came a little early and called to make sure that was alright. They worked quickly and were incredibly friendly.
I had them clean a light micro-suede sofa that has had quite a lot of use over the years and was looking very dated. When they left, the sofa looked like new! It only took them about 30 min and an hour later I could use it again. I would highly recommend them! -

Glenn & Tom from A-Abace are reliable, quick professionals who do a fantastic job. They came and cleaned our couch, chair and ottoman for about $150 all-in. The furniture looks and smells and FEELS as good as new! They were promptly right on time at 8:00AM and it only took them about 40 minutes for all 3 pieces. They were super friendly and nice as well. So my brother kindly bought me a brand new, sleeper sofa from La-Z-Boy Furniture. It is beige with a great mattress in it. In fact, the wrap covering the mattress hadn't even been taken off yet. After he bought me the couch, we took it up to Chicago where he and a couple of my other friends helped me move in. Maybe 3 weeks went by of using this lovely couch.
As a thank you, I invited my friend that helped me move to the city to hang out. We went and got sushi, went out to bars that he didn't feel like he fit in it, and ended up a Rockit where I met the guy I was seeing at the time. The guy was super nice and bought drinks for everyone, and my friend proceeded to drown his social awkwardness in pomegranate mojitos (read: taking them down like shots). We went back to my place and he literally crashed into my couch and I asked if he wanted the bed out (would have been the first on the brand spankin-new mattress) he slurred, "No". I let him be. I went to the bathroom at approximately 7am to find him on the floor, laying on the back cushions. I went to the bathroom to find god knows what in the bath tub. I wake him up asking what happened. He proceeds to tell me that he puked on himself. I was mad, but I said ok whatever. Come to find out after he left when I went to look at the mattress, which was STILL COVERED IN PLASTIC!, it was actually urine. The stupid fool peed in his drunken stupor.
Anyway, I called anyone and everyone I thought I could to find someone to clean this effing thing that I swear I was about to throw on the sidewalk and give away. I even had steam master or steam cleaner or whatever they are called come out, only to find out that my couch is NOT ok to be cleaned with water, so they charged me $75 (a lot for my broke-ass, at the time) because they came out there for nothing.
I'm not even quite sure how I stumbled upon this great GREAT company, A-Abace. It is run by the owner, Glen, and to make an appointment, I have always called his cell. If you need it, message me. He came and was SO flexible with his hours and dry cleaned my couch at my home. I still couldn't sit on the couch for about a month without being grossed out, but I am ok with it now.
My dog has peed on it since and I got it cleaned again. And then at my next apartment, my roommates were kind of disgusting, so I just got it cleaned again. So that makes it THREE times I have gone back to these guys and my couch looks like NEW every time!!
That was a really long-winded story. Sorry. Bottom line, these guys rock. They're not going to rip you off. They're going to tell you how to get the most bang for your buck, in terms of maintenance for your couch. LOVE THEM! -

I'm a repeat customer and I just had to toss a review out there... value and service all the way. Glenn is the best. I have pets & kids... and a yearly appointment with A-Abace. They do mattresses (the RIGHT way... by dry cleaning them instead of steaming them so that the coils rust!) rugs, couches, chairs, carpets... you name it. They specialize in PETS and mean it! I've had other "steamers" out and they just don't have the special technique to truly get under the carpet/pad and really kill everything and clean it thoroughly. They can save anything and have my business for as long as they are around. On time, talkative, sweet and genuine... I especially love the spot removing clothes he leaves me every time...!

I found A-Abace on yelp and am very pleased.
I had a couch and two chairs cleaned by A-Abace. They did a great job and Glenn, the owner, was very friendly and offered future tips for caring for my furniture. I would definitely use them again.
They use green cleaners and my furniture didn't even feel damp, although they said to wait at least an hour before sitting on it. They hand cleaned the furniture, along with a vacuum. -

A-Abace is phenomenal! Brothers Glenn (Owner) and Tom cleaned my carpet and made it look new again! They were hardworking, honest, and very helpful. The brothers really went above and beyond with their quality of work. Glenn gave me some tips on how to keep the carpet looking great and he offered to come back and do spot-treatments if any stains came back after the carpet dried. They did a deep clean carpet cleaning & sanitizing: Vacuum/Shampoo/Steam Clean/Treat-Stains for a very reasonable price. A-Abace uses all Green Solutions and they really take pride in their business!! If you have pets are just need your carpets sanitized A-Abace is the Place. (They specialize in pet stains too!) Established in 1950 A-Abace is a reliable company with experience and a true sense of customer service.
