I honestly wish I could give more stars!!!
I went to my garage on a late Friday afternoon, and my garage door opener would not open. I noticed one of the roller springs was snapped, which made opening the door (even manually). I called my "go to place" for repair and got voicemail. So I checked Yelp. I read all the 5 star reviews and thought - I have to call this guy!
I got Frank, and he was out on a job. He asked what was wrong, if it was an emergency, etc. Then agreed to come out that night!
Frank arrived, took a look, gave me a quote ($250 for two galvanized springs (I live near the beach and anything less would rust)) and got to work. He knocked it out in less than an hour, including having to grind the shaft I had.
I ***HIGHLY*** recommend A1 for your garage needs!! -

I needed two universal replacement controllers for my front gate. Frank got them for me and even was courteous to meet me at a mid point after one of his jobs. I can't stress what an honest and quality person Frank is, A-1 and all their service people are as good as it gets!

Called A-1 since the garage door sensors were malfunctioning. They came out the following morning at 8am since they were fully booked the day prior. 10 mins prior to the 8am appt, they called to confirm they were on their way! Punctual, professional and fixed the problem by 8:30am. Ben was friendly, skilled and took the time to explain why the door malfunctioned. There's peace of mind knowing you've got skilled help just a phone call away should garage doors become problematic.

Called yesterday morning when my garage door wouldn't shut. They were at my house within the hour to start working on the garage. Their team was courteous and fixed my garage in under 2 hours putting in new cables and wires. I would recommend this business to everyone in the south bay.

I did my research on Yelp for garage door service companies when our remote controls stopped working. I got quotes from three companies. Two companies said it would be best to replace the entire opener, since it was very old, not just the receiver. Frank, at A-1 said if the opener isn't broken, why replace it? He recommended that I replace the receiver only for a much lower price than quoted by the other two companies.
He replaced the receiver, programed the remotes and was on his way in less than 30 minutes. Great job Frank! -

Frank is the man. nuff said.
I first contacted them for a property i rented that had a busted garage door. Frank stopped by the following day after chatting with him on the phone the night before. He fixed the shredded gears and recommended that i change out a few other parts. As I didn't own this property, i could care less about the other times, and he fixed the door AND lubed it as a courtesy.. Didnt felt upsold on anything
Nearly a year to the day i met Frank, we meet again, but this time it was for a house i just bought, and i wanted to have the 12 year old liftmaster unit replaced due to the age and noise it made. Long story short, I Frank and his partner came by, on time, was extremely professional, and the quality of work done is by far the best that ive seen from the past.
All in all, A1 will ALWAYS get my garage door repair business as long as i live in the South Bay. -

Just like everyone says. Great friendly service.
Called at 12PM. Couldn't get our cars out of the garage. Quoted that they'd call me around 2PM. Ben came early. It ended up a two man job, Frank showed up and they were done in less than an hour.
And my garage sounds so smooth now. -

First off, you gotta love Yelp! First thing I did was check Yelp to see who was reputable and you guys didn't steer me wrong.
One morning I went to open the garage and the door would only open up a few inches off the ground. At first, I thought it was the motor going bad on the opener. I called A-1 up and I spoke to Alex. We scheduled a day to evaluate the garage door. Keep in mind that I already had told Alex that if we needed to replace the garage door opener I would be happy to spend the extra money to fix it long term. So Alex did the diagnostics and found that the track was loose. I asked him if I should replace or keep what I had. He suggested that I save my money since this unit was fine and still operational. Save my money? Awesome!
So what to take away from this? A-1 is an HONEST real garage door company! They know what they are talking about and they are looking out for you. I told them if I ever replace the door or the opener that they would get my call. The service to diagnose, tighten up the bolts, lube, etc... only $85. Money well spent. A-1 really is open 7 days a week. I called on a Saturday afternoon and Frank arrived within 20 minutes. He fixed my garage door very quickly and his price was very reasonable. I called him because his webpage showed his contractor license number. I trusted the Better Business Bureau even more than the great reviews that he has received on Yelp. I will definitely recommend A-1 Garage Door Service to my friends!!!

these guys are great. called in for a problem with my garage door jamming and rolling back down. made an appointment and alex came out and looked at the unit. found that one of the two springs was broken and had the part on hand and swapped them right on the spot. asked him about other items that may needed service and he said I didn't need to swap em out and to save my money! real honest folks here. 30 minutes later, both springs swapped out and they adjusted the gears on the garage opener so that it ran smoother and quieter.
they said they warranty the springs for 3 years and 1 year in the labor. the entire repair was 250. that's better than spending 500-600 on a new opener!
definitely recommend these guys! -

I had a torsion spring snap on New Year's Eve. Frank and his crew came out first thing New Year's Day. They changed the springs and the badly worn out bearings in just over an hour.
I found them to be competent, capable, knowledgeable, prompt, courteous and reasonably priced!

I live close to the beach where everything rusts because of the salt air from the ocean and this morning my garage door cables broke because they were rusted. I googled garage door repair and it came up with A-1 Garage Door Service. I called and within one hour Frank was at my house and fixed the garage door completely! Awesome, quick service! Our garage door opener stopped working a couple of days ago. Since I know nothing about them and since the one that came with the house was so old, I figured I would probably need to go to Home Depot, buy a new, and pay them for installation. A-1 Garage Door Service was recommended to me by a family member in the area so I gave them a call before I was going to trek out to Home Depot. They were in the area so they stopped by within an hour of my call. They not only fixed the existing garage door opener, but they also made some adjustments to improve the way it worked and installed a handle on the door so it could be manually lifted easily. They even replaced the light bulbs that had burnt out. They were fast, knew what they were doing, very informative, and very very friendly. The work was done quickly and it saved me a good deal of money since the repair was very reasonably priced. I love saving money. I would highly recommend them to anyone that has issues with their garage door opener. Before taking a look, they also told me the worst case scenario of replacing the whole unit and the cost of doing so. Even that was very reasonable. If the thing ever breaks down again, I am going back to A-1 Garage Door Service.

I just had them replace the torsion springs. They were great on the phone and gave a fair estimate compared to the other 3 vendors I called. I choose them because of Yelp reviews and am VERY happy I did.
Alex, Frank and team did the repair for less than the estimate and also threw in a great maintenance service. When another part failed, they gave me solid advice and went out of their way to contact the distributor for warranty coverage. I find them very honest, timely and reliable. Kinda like that great neighbor that knows how to fix everything and is willing to help on your schedule.
I would provide them a personal reference if ever asked. -

Not much to write here other than that A-1 Garage Door Service is a top-notch business that gets the job done.

2. Frank called back and said he was available to come over that day.
3. Frank came over.
4. A few hours later, I had a new "Liftmaster" garage door opener for a very reasonable price.
Frank Kawano reminds me of the time when reliable customer service and good craftsmanship mattered most.

Excellent, prompt, professional service!
Both Frank and Alex arrived at 2pm on the dot, proceeded to evaluate the problemo at hand, and helped us come up with the best solution.
They install the "Liftmaster" brand garage door openers, but they work on all brands.
I appreciate that they were on time, professional, didn't give me the run-around and were straight up with me on the repair needed.
I would recommend them highly- it's usually hard to pay for house repairs without the slight feeling that you've been 'taken to the cleaners'. With them, I felt that I had professional service at a fair price, which is exactly what everyone deserves.
They serve the south bay area- Torrance/Gardena/PV area. -

These guys are the BEST.
English-speaking, which is nice.
Polite, and they cleaned up after themselves.

Efficient, quality, and reliable service. The price for the repair was more than fair, and took the time to show us on how to use your new Liftmaster garage door opener. Never felt like he was trying to "sell" me something like other service businesses which I really respected.

I called this company on a rainy day figuring there was no way he'd come out to fix my garage door which had quit working. Not only did he say he'd come out, he came directly over!! He gave me three options that I could choose from. The cheapest being just to mend the problem, next being to upgrade, and the last being to replace. He spoke with me about the pros and cons of each choice until I comfortably made a decision that worked best for me. He and his assistant quickly upgraded the parts that I wanted upgraded and fixed the core issue. I am extremely impressed and happy with their work, and their honesty. Use this business!!!!

These dudes did such a great job that it forced me to sign up for Yelp to give a glowing review.
Get this: I call on MEMORIAL DAY night, assuming I'll be leaving a message. Oh no, the guy picks up, says he'll be there in an hour, and my garage door is being fixed at 8 p.m. Did I mention it was MEMORIAL DAY?
Every positive review is legit. They are honest, fair, and the pricing was competitive (not a ripoff but not el cheapo). My auto garage door is from '96, and I was really hoping I didn't have to spend thousands for a new one. They understood my desire to fix this one and did so without an annoying upsell. -

In less than an hour, Frank:
- reset our spring and bolt setup, thereby preventing any future problems
- fixed our garage door by reinforcing the metal-on-metal anchor points
- tuned up our springs and bolts
Now our garage door is STRONGER THAN EVER and it opens and closes quietly!
I am impressed by Frank's EFFICIENCY and EXPERIENCE. He said he's being doing this job for a "long, long time" and it definitely shows in his workmanship.

It's been six months now since the door was installed, so they (finally) get that elusive fifth star. Lol!
Frank, Alex, and Ben came out as a team and really delivered outstanding service and a top-notch installation of the door. Mine is an old garage, so there were a few obstacles we came across. But the guys came through with creative options and were great with explaining every last detail until I felt comfortable with everything. No hard-sells!

What a great family business. I thought maybe they wrote all the good reviews themselves but NO. They are that good , affordable , knowledgeable and respectful. Frank and Alex deserve the job, you will be happy, and the son is with them learning the ropes and advising you how to keep the maintainance up. I advise you to have a couple Grape Crush sodas . thats their favorite.

Great honest guys! We thought we had major issues and they alerted us that we only needed some minor maintenance. Completely honest and really nice guys! I couldn't recommend them more! And they are more than willing to come over at odd times to fit your schedule! They are not on bankers' hours!

My garage door broke on me, and I needed somebody fast. I google, and came across Frank's service on yelp. Read all 5 star reviews, so I called, and he responded very quickly. He literally showed up at my door within 5 minutes, diagnosed and took care of the repairs within an hour. I couldn't be more satisfied. He didn't have all the parts necessary, so he called for backup, and 2 additional trucks showed up within 10 minutes. Awesome job. Most painless repair experience ever. Thanks Frank & the team!
