Absolutely delicious. The wait time is entirely too damn long but it's very good for the quality and price. A lot of people have complained about the greasiness which, yes, the food (the fries especially) are quite greasy, but -- and maybe I'm just weird -- why the hell do people go to these little holes-in-the-walls expecting some kind of gluten-free, healthy choice fare? You just ordered probably a chili cheese burger, fries and a large coke and you're worried about the frickin GREASE!? GTFO.
But I digress. The burgers are good, the patties are thick, juicy and surprisingly well seasoned (peppery, just the way I like it), beefy and quite filling all around. The fries have that delicious mixture of sweetness with a hint of salt and you can get a combo special for about $4. What more could you want?
Now, that being said the time you have to wait is comparable to a sit-down restaurant, which is ridiculous. Now one would like to think that it's because they're in there hand-making your meal -- which they obviously are -- but still, you're a burger place, obviously you'll always have the necessary items at hand...so how in the hell does it take so long to take the order and get the food out the door?
All in all, the food is good for the price, just be ready for a long wait on a short block in a bad neighborhood. -

I waited a half and hour for a mediocre burger. Very mad I was. Especially for such an average burger!
I passed by this place and was immediately intrigued by the long line. I figured if there's a lot of people around a place it must be good. WRONG!
My disappointment was an understatement. I waited almost 45 minutes for a burger that tasted so average. I tried to spice it up too with bacon and cheese, but I was still disappointed. And everything tastes good with bacon and cheese! The fries were average as well. I could have done better at Tom's! -

I have been going here since I was in junior high and now my kids go. It is really good but I always tell them extra seasoning on the meat (its not needed thats just me) It is always crowded and the parking isn't the best but you can always park on 8th avenue and walk to Vernon which is nothing.
The food is cheap as far as what you pay. You can get a Cheese Burger, brown paper bag full of fries and drink for about $5.00. Even when you start adding bacon, chili and what not you still pay about $7.00 give or take.
They do close about 6pm or 7pm so go before dark and when the time change I think they close when dark hits.... -

Why in the world is everybody waiting around for this? I am somewhat of a local to the area, and I got excited when word of mouth passed through about this burger joint. My wife and I are on a never ending quest for that old fashioned cheeseburger. You've heard of it - the one that comes wrapped in yellow wax paper (regular hamburgers were wrapped in white wax paper). Raw white onion, peppery, cheese sticking to the wax paper...anyway, I digress.
This place is too slow for the quality of the taste - I'd rather hit In N' Out and I HATE that place! -

Review from Helen O.
Los Angeles, CA
Yummy, the juiciest burger, with a big ass patty, bag of fries and a drink for less then $5, ya gotta go, I know this place is not in the best neighborhood but that's how it is when you want cheap, great eats, Chinese people own this place and they know how to make a burger and extra toppings less then a quarter, you can't go wrong. Love it.

my friend heard about this place through a customer of hers, a place in a tough part of town that makes magical burgers. we parked nearby and walked up to a scratched, ultra-thick bulletproof window with a sheen of grease on the inside.
i actually got excited, because about a dozen people were milling about, waiting for their orders. ordered 2 cheeseburger specials with everything, fries and sodas -- came out to about $8. SCORE. the meals were handed out to customers thru a heavy metal side door, or by a small revolving door next to the cashier. we waited, and waited and waited. about THIRTY (yes, 30) minutes later we got our burgers and scurried to the car to eat. there are no tables; it's like Philips: take it and get the fuck outta here. fine, see ya, i got your menu.
disappointing and very messy. the patties were supposedly hand-made to order, which i could believe, but the gauge of the ground meat (if that's how you describe it) was very, very coarse. the meat seemed rubbery. we actually theorized it might be horse meat. definitely juicy, but the bun couldn't handle it and it wound up in my lap. the fries were pretty good: fat, greasy, old school diner cut -- very nice. but the sodas, not so much. i didn't think 12 oz. styrofoam cups still existed. why were a dozen plus people standing around for this?
anyway, long story. it was a mini-adventure to a distant neighborhood that ended disappointingly. seemed popular with the locals but i can't see myself going back. -

We got the sunny side up egg burger, it was different, the fríes were so damn greasy, i felt real bad after i could almost see through the brown paper bag. Always packed, probably never go again.

If you are looking for a good greasy homemade burger then this is definitely the place. It is a hole in the wall, walk up window stand that only accepts cash. The quality of the meat is not the best but it is a homemade burger patty. It will only run you about $5 for a burger, fries and drink. The french fries are covered in seasoning salt and so sinful.
I only visit maybe once to twice a year because of course I am watching my weight. :)
