Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt [Edit]
Neighborhood: Mission ValleyI have been going to Paradise Yogurt since I was in high school and it is still one of my favorite places to grab frozen yogurt. I'm not such a fan of the sugar free varieties but there is a chocolate custard option that is almost always my go to flavor...often swirled with vanilla. They have great toppings and make sure to pick up your paradise yogurt card...buy ten and get the next one free. While I haven't tried it, there is now a second Paradise Yogurt out by SDSU. You can find them by checking out the website...on the website you can also sign up for coupons!

I am not a part of the cult "Fro-yo" following. I do not get excited about frozen yogurt, but sometimes I need that guilt-free, cold, sweet treat and this one has got it without hassles and too many decisions to make. I wanted to give five stars, but I took one off for long lines and the fact that you cannot see the toppings or grab napkins when people are waiting in front of you.
The main reason I go to Paradise Yogurt is that it is a 2 min. drive from my home, and Wow-Cow! A small Wow-Cow swirl is my thing. It is fat-free and really low cal. Last night was Amond Ameretto/Chocolate Decadence.
There was a time in my life when I wanted to drop a few pounds and I did it, without skipping dessert.

I work near Paradise Yogurt, but I had never been to it even though I'm within walking distance. My coworkers and I always eat at the food court nearby, and I've always noticed that there are always a disproportionate amount of young college-aged women that reside out front. Thank goodness for the Art Institute, I guess. College co-eds aside, I was looking over the Yelp reviews, and this joint seemed to be pretty well-liked. So last week, I decided to finally break my streak and get some frozen yogurt from a non-Korean owned establishment (I could be mistaken...Paradise might be owned by some Koreans...Gosh, they are such geniuses). When I walked in, my preconceptions that Paradise Yogurt was a non-Korean place were affirmed by the two bleach blond teenagers working the counter. Anyways, I digress. I got some plain tart yogurt, as I assume that the best baseline for yogurt rating should always be plain tart. I gotta hand it to Paradise Yogurt, they make a mean plain tart yogurt. I've only been to a couple of yogurt places beforehand, but this yogurt, by far, was the best plain tart I've had. I don't really know how to adequately explain it, but there were chunks of some yogurt-y substance mixed within all the frozen yogurt goodness. I know "chunks of yogurt-y substance" doesn't sounds good, but trust me, it's good. All in all, decent portion for a small size, and I'll definitely be back.
As a side, if you're lactose intolerant, Paradise Yogurt will MESS you up, son! I had to take a 20 minute work break a couple hours after I ate my yogurt, if you know what I mean. Then again, this is the second review I've had where food messes me up, so maybe I'm just a foodie lightweight.
I have been here a couple times and it is divine. I always get the WOW COW. Less calories. The WOW COW basically is less calories but tastes just the same as it would if it had a gajillion calories in it.
Their smallest size is the mini with 8 ounces. It is a lot of yogurt. $2.50 a pop. Per ounce it is 10 calories which is unbelievable! Gotta love it! Yes, I count calories...I am just a calorie counting queen.
Anyhow they don't always have the same flavors though. They mix it up probably every week. I had the angel food cake, chocolate decadence, and double fudge. SOOO GOOD!
They also have other flavors but these ones I lean more towards just because I love chocolate, and I love me some cake.
They cater to diabetics and vegan people too, awesome!
The customer service is ok. Not really that helpful. I see their faces when someone new comes in and they ask how to order or whats good and they give them that face like "just order something now, the lines getting so long". Oh well, can't please them all I guess.
In my case I was pleased by my visits. Didn't have too wait long either.

I'm writing about Paradise II, which is on College Ave across from SDSU. I can't find it on Yelp, and the pictures for this one are actually of the one on College Ave, so what the hell.
This place is kind of lame if you have been to the Asian places in Kearny Mesa. I'm not sure I can eat any other yogurt except tart now (they have plain tart and that's it for the tart) and I'm not sure I can eat any other toppings but all the delicious little fruit jellies and mochis (they don't have them at all). They do have some fruit toppings but it's frozen thawed fruit. I think there were 10 flavors....now, if you have 10 flavors, why are two of them peanut butter, two of them vanilla and three of them chocolate? Whatever. I will probably go here again though, they are right across the street from work and they do have plain tart, which is my love. I love you plain tart.....forever and ever.

I would take this healthier yogurt over ANY fatty ice cream ANY day. Honestly. Well, with maybe the exception of Mister Frosty in PB but it depends which one I'm closest to at any given time.
They have all kinds of toppings as well, which probably takes away from the health-factor, but it's still a nice plus. Especially considering the penchant I have for rainbow sprinkles. And no, chocolate sprinkles are not the same thing. At all. RAIN-BOW please.
I always loved the chocolate flavors they have. Even the low-carb stuff. It's fantastic. Angel Food Cake is dee-lish too. I'd say the only bummer is when you find a flavor you love and want it 24/7. They DO change it up so it's not going to be there forever. Although, it seems to rotate so it will be back. Patience is a virtue and it just opens opportunities to try new flavors anyway.
This is a place you MUST check out if you haven't.
You'll thank me and yourself for listening to me.

Question: How do you make 34 strangers in a tiny room jealous of you?
Stroll into class with some paradise yogurt. You'll get more envious looks than a ho ho at a diet convention.
Go with the cheesecake with granola. Don't pack it too tightly because they charge by weight, but it will run you at the most four bucks. I love me some fro yo!

We came here hoping for tart fro yo but to no avail. And it was a freaking hot day so regular, sweeter, chocolately syrupy sweet blends from here just wasn't going to cut it. Sorry.
I had been living in Mission Valley for about 8 or 9 months, when one day, my boyfriend and I were driving by Paradise Yogurt on our way to the pet store, and he asked me if I had been to Paradise Yogurt before. Almost surprisingly, I had to say that "no" I hadn't, even though I am the kind of girl who can't get enough ice cream, especially the "healthy" fro-yo kind! So we decided to check it out. One foot inside of the place feels like a tropical rainforest exploded, well with the palm tree and plastic chair decor, it reminded me of some cheap-o Orlando theme park of sorts. Anyways, we waited in line for a couple of minutes, and ended up ordering Peanut Butter frozen yogurt with crushed Reese's peanut butter cups topping, and ohhhhhhhhhh my goodness... that's how the obsession began.
Ever since, we have had to limit our trips there to once every other day. Always trying new sweet treats (including their wide selection of low calorie, low fat chocolates, cookies, and everything you always thought you couldn't eat while on a diet), I have yet to be disappointed. And I can assure you, that you won't be disappointed either.
Pros:
-Excellent selection of frozen yogurt and toppings
-Staff is really friendly and will make whatever concoction you can think of
-Parking is easy (have to mention parking in San Diego...)
-Free samples
-Club card (buy 10 get 1 free)
-Indoor and outdoor seating
Cons:
-Don't expect to always be able to order the same thing - their 10 or so daily flavors change from day to day
-Don't go too late at night - they might run out of their most popular flavors
Overall - I can't give this anything less than 5 stars!
Hi my name is Kelly and I am addicted to Soy Fro Yo.
I happen to live near this place, and I also happen to have 3 roommates who are just as addicted to this creamy frozen delight.
Paradise yogurt is a sorry excuse for a yogurt place, but hey, like any true addict, I would get my fix from any random crack house, or shell gas station.
2 small yogurt with toppings, $8.40.
I'm sorry, I may have been born east of the 15, but shit, this ain't flipin Europe people, its just Mission Valley.
I am a proud native of La Mesa, home of the great Yogurt Express. Where you can put 10 toppings and 5 different flavors in one cup if you fancy, all self serve, they charge by weight. I could get the same order for around $4, plus they have a 25% off student discount.
Yogurt Express, I miss you. When will you expand further west so we can rekindle our love affair??
Paradise Yogurt, I thank you for helping me get my fix (the withdrawal hallucinations can get pretty bad).
However, stop charging me my left arm for a little cup of heaven.
What next, is Bush going to take over a failing government that has a plentiful natural resource of Wow Cow? Then we will have to pay like $80 a gallon for it.
Damn the yogurt man!!

I was impressed by this place. I can't believe I haven't been here before when I've lived in Mission Valley for 7 months! My friend visiting me from out of town actually took me here, he used to frequent this place when he lived down in San Diego. Funny story actually, our mutual 300 lb SD state linebacker friend used to hook up with some chick that worked there... so when ever hunger would strike he would pay her a visit to get "dinner". Now a place that can turn frozen yogurt into dinner for that big of a guy has got to really be something! They have a ton of toppings and it has that mom and pop feeling . They switch up the yogurt flavors often to keep things interesting. I feel like some damn fro yo now

2nd best place in town. Kinda cramped and disorganized but good yogurt. Their selection is limited to whatever they feel like making. Kinda like Yogurt Mill in East County.
The best yogurt place hands down is Yogotango downtown in the gaslamp (Corner of 4th st. and G st.) More selection, roomier, free wifi, and its healthier too, at only 100 calories!

I love this place. Don't let the random Hawaiian decor and merchandise fool you. It doesn't matter if it's raining out, if I want some Wow-Cow or Skinny-Minnie, I'm getting it here. I just wish it would be open later because I seem to always fancy it at 9:01pm. Just be sure to ask for samples first because sometimes, it may be LC but it tastes like it too. PB Wow-Cow is one of the best! Grasshopper is not.

I have to admit, I have never been a big fan of frozen yogurt, as i am not a fan of soft serve ice cream, and I think it's the consistancy I don't like.. but I really do like the yogurt here!
I love that there are new flavors every day and that you can come up with a new combination every day!
They also cater to everyone, non-dairy, non-fat, sugar-free, low carb, etc - what ever you want, they have it!!!!

This place is suspiciously reminiscent of the fat-free FroYo from Seinfeld that turned out to make everyone fat. Cause it can't be this good and good for you. Or at least, not according to any science class I ever took (I didn't so well in science though). But it's pretty cool that most of the stuff here is low-carb, fat-free, and come with Priobiotics. Whatever the hell that is. Granted, it's tasty so I'd probably eat it anyhow, but all of that is a nice bonus.
Then they drop the fruit and energy bars and stuff which isn't really want I'm after when I go for froyo but hey, probably makes sense to somebody. And sugar free stuff. And options for lactose-intolerant folks. It goes on and on. I keep expecting them to come up with froyou specially designed for people who hate froyo. And that'd probably be awesome too.
There's a good selection of classic and more adventurous flavors (which I think rotate). I'm boring so I stick to the classics, but I tell ya...I can eat a large farva in the snow. It's that good.

If you're craving an alternative to fatty ice cream, this is definitely the place. Everything tastes like it's loaded with bad-for you goodness, but it's not! They have a great selection of fat free, lactose free, and sugar free treats. I always get a chocolate, peanut-butter and banana shake-mmmm, I crave this almost very day.
I purchased a chocolate chip cookie dough hurricane with nonfat chocolate mousse yogurt. My total came to $4.55, to me a little pricey for fro-yo considering I like $1 ice cream cones from Rite Aid.
But then I saw them make it. They are NOT SKIMPY with the cookie dough...it was piled in there. Lots of yogurt mounded into a large plastic cup. Sure enough every chocolate-y bite had chunks of yummy cookie dough. It took me four sittings to finish it. Not a bad deal after all.
I want another one now.

Paradise Yogurt is the best yogurt in town, period. The flavor selection changes daily and the toppings rock my socks.
The tart yogurt selections (plain tart, peach tart, etc.) are nice-- when you want yogurt, but don't want something cloyingly sweet -- mix the tart plain with a regular berry for an amazing (but refreshing) treat.
Their buy one, get one coupons also mean that I go for yogurt with the BF and both of us come away smiling. Oh, and my lactose-intolerant friends do the "wow cow." Something for everyone ... and now there's one at SDSU, too!
MMMMMmmmmmMMMM goood. hurricanes are bomb if you are feeling like you need a huge amount of fro-yo.....this place is awesome because they have like 13 flavors at all time which keeps me happy. only sad thing is they dont have fresh fruit but maybe they will after reading this. Ummm..they have weird chocolate bars you can buy too. they have wow cow, skinny cow, and that type of non fat low cal fro-yo.
yayyyyyy! I want to go now
Great little yogurt shop! Try a hurricane - they are delicious. Watch out for hot summer days though, there can be a line out the door.
i used to be a huge fan of golden spoon but then i discovered p.y. and now i have it 1-3 times a day! I'm a big fan of the wow cow.. it tastes amazing and its lactose free which is great for a lactose intolerant patron. The only reason i don't give it all 5 stars is because too many of the people working there are rather rude/lack customer service skills.
I think out of all the frozen yogurt shops in SD, Paradise Yogurt is my new favorite. I love their wide selection and the prices are waaay better than Golden Spoon. Did I mention that they hook it up fat??? I got a small (8oz) for $2.85 and got candy cane, death by chocolate, and green tea. omg- I was freezing my ass off, but I was in heaven!
Will definitely come back.
Don't forget to ask for a stamp card- buy 10, bet one free. Also there's a $5 minimum to use credit cards.

Oh I curse the distance that exists between Paradise Yogurt and my home in Chula Vista.
This is definitely one of my favorite places to get yogurt in San Diego because the yogurt tastes amazing and you can do so much with it (parfaits, hurricanes, shakes, malts, floats, etc...).
I was blown away by the subtly sweet and spicy flavor of the snickerdoodle yogurt. In addition, their plain tart is some of the best I've ever tried since it's not too sweet, yet perfectly tart and creamy.
Fruit toppings aren't like what you get at some of the self-serve frozen yogurt shops, since they're more in...chunky syrup form, I guess you could say. Nevertheless, they work for me. I like them.
Service is very friendly (shout out to dear Vanessa), and I LOVE their selection of soft drinks on the side. Diet Vanilla Pepsi, mmmmm...

This is my backup yogurt place. I tend to drift towards the ones that offer multiple options of flavors and lots of toppings and healthy-ness. This is one of those places, however it is not self-serve (bummer) and they are on the pricier end.
That being send, it's close to home and does the job well. I definetly have replaced many a meal with a huge swirl of fro-yo. Reiterating the face that there is a $5 minimum for credit cards - I've had to buy random drinks and granola bars before to purchase the goods. That's how dedicated I am.
I have so many memories of PY. I would cruise down from a long day at Parker (my high school) and would eat the largest cup of FroYo with Mini M&Ms before crew practice. This is long before my days of lactose intolerance...a time when gorging myself before a workout was ok and I would eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it. [tear] those were good times.

I used to come here often because they carry Wow Cow and used to carry Skinnie Minnie. I have two complaints. First, management needs to reconsider their ordering/paying system. Specifically, one girl should take orders, while the other works the register (sorta like Subway). As is, you'll easily wait 15-25 minutes on line on any given night. Second, management should reconsider their hiring practices. Specifically, they might want to make pseudo-niceness a job requirement. Screw friendliness- I'd be happy with eye contact and something that resembles a smile.
The generally poor customer service is the exclusive reason for the 3 stars - that and because they got rid of Skinnie Minnie as of a few months ago, which was by far the highlight of their selection, considering one can get regular frozen yogurt at Golden Spoon or any number of other places.

Thank God, a yogurt shop that still embraces sweet rather than tart! Pinkberry and its ilk have their own appeal, but I'll take a chocolate/vanilla swirl over plain any day.
Excellent and wide selection that changes often (but they've always got that chocolate and vanilla standby). Not quite as incredibly mouth-watering as Yogurt Farms in Santa Rosa or the Bay Area's Yogurt Park, but pretty damn close.

yes. i gave it a 5.
probably the best tasting alternative rather than going balls out on ice cream (like cold stone, marble slab, or ben and jerrys) -
paradise's frozen yogurt is AWESOME. and better for you... blah blah blah... but seriously, add a topping or two - and its almost guilt free.
the portions are great for the price, aweome variety of skinny cow and carblite yogurts, great mix-ins to choose from, they have nice outdoor and indoor seating, the service is always friendly - they WILL let you taste every flavor if you ask btw... its an all around great yogurt place.
The NUTTY MONKEY from Paradise Yogurt is quite possibly the most delicious frozen yogurt milkshake creation I have ever had anywhere. Peanut butter frozen yogurt, fresh sliced bananas and milk are all blended together to create one big party in your mouth!
Paradise has lots of tasty yogurts that rotate on a daily basis- although chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla are usually staples. My favorites include coconut and mint-both great alone or with the topping of your choice.
For those of you watching your weight or sugar intake, there are low carb, no sugar and non-fat flavors offered everyday along with their regular low fat options. In addition to yogurt, milkshakes and other sweet treats like cookies, they have healthy smoothies with "add-ins" like protein powder, bee pollen, etc. They used to serve soup daily as well, although I don't know if they still do.
Recently, they've added "tart tasting" yogurts to their daily yogurt rotation similar to places like Yogurt World here in SD. I haven't tried the tart flavors yet but I plan to very soon as I am sure they are just as delicious as the other yogurt flavors they offer.
Next time you are in the Mission Valley or College area, stop by Paradise Yogurt. Delicious yogurt, generous servings and affordable prices make this yogurt shop a real treat!

This place has decent frozen yogurt, but it did not live up to all the rave reviews it got. I only went here because of the rave reviews Yelper gave. I don't like Paradise as much as I like Rocky's. I always get this explosion of flavor in my mouth whenever I eat frozen yogurt from Rocky's, Paradise didn't give me the same feeling. Plus, you get like half as much as Rocky's for the same price.
I got the vanilla creme & chocolate mint. The flavor of the vanilla creme was better than the chocolate mint. The chocolate mint had a powdery flavor to it. My frozen yogurt was melting by the time I got it. The consistency wasn't as rich & creamy as Rocky's. The place didn't appear to be that clean. I won't be returning. I'll travel a little farther for Rocky's.
I expected there to be more Wow Cow & Skinny Mini flavors since Yelpers talk about it, but I was disappointed to find only one Wow Cow flavor.
The 3 stars is for the fact that they do serve sweet frozen yogurt, have decent frozen yogurt, have at least 1 Wow Cow flavor, and all the flavors appear to be non-fat.

Paradise yogurt is a wonderful spot for a frozen treat that isn't sickeningly sweet, like the nearby icecream shops. (Although I do believe there is always time for sickenly sweet) My favorites are the Sunrise and Berry Parfaits, with Strawberries and blueberries and strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries respectively. The yogurt is layered with the lovely fruit, and topped with crunchy granola. For a great berry-smoothie, try the appropriately named 'very berry', it's strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry, YUM.
Paradise Yogurt is a good treat during the summer heat, and for me it melts away the daily cubicle grind of my day-to-day life. There are a lot of cool drinks on the menu, and yogurt sundaes (try the brownie sundae). For those looking to limit their intake, they even have 6 oz minis. :)

Living in Los Angeles is kind of like living in a yogurt ghetto... fro yo is everywhere. I commute to San Diego once a month and found Paradise Yogurt which is now on my 'must visit' list. Unlike most places, their yogurt is always has a perfect creamy consistency and tastes more fattening (ie: yummy) than it really is. I didn't know why this was until I brought it up on my last visit. They told me it's because they don't skimp on their mixes like some places do and they keep their machines super clean. It's scary to think what other places might not be doing with their machines. They also told me they expanded to another store near SDSU. I hope they open one up near me in LA! Anyway...it's my favorite place and worth the drive.

minus 1 star for sometimes horrendous lines--usually later in the evening. a couple of the girls are really stingy on the servings. might be because they're new and still learning to make 'em. i'm not sure how prices compare to the other places cause i just haven't been able to go anywhere else--why bother when paradise is close and has exactly what i want??
peanut butter, angel food cake, and strawberry shortcake are amazing wow cow flavors. i wish they were there every day.
Absolutely divine, with options for everyone. There's the standard non-fat (I THINK it's Dannon YoCream), but there's also the insanely delicious and guilt-free Wow Cows and Skinny Minis for the calorie-conscious. The flavors rotate, except of course the staples like Peanut Butter, Vanilla, Chocolate, and some form of strawberry. They started providing tart flavors too, after somebody realized that Pinkberry-esque fro-yo is taking over the world.
Prices are decent, especially if you get your hands on one of those buy-1-get-1-free coupons. :)

Paradise yogurt is appropriately named.
I adore frozen yogurt, and I love it far more than regular ice cream. I think it might be because of the fun swirly shape, or perhaps because when you mix it around a lot, it melts more easily into a soup of deliciousness. I also like rainbow sprinkles. When I can have both rainbow sprinkles AND frozen yogurt, it's a happy happy day.
Paradise has what I love and so much more. There are many many flavors to choose from each day and even more topping choices. It's like a better-for-you Coldstone's without the shocking price tag.
I have to dock them one star, though, for their hours. In my book, having a frozen yogurt place that isn't open until midnight is nearly a crime.

I used to be a huge fan of Paradise Yogurt, but because of the horrible way I was treated by the owner yesterday, I will never go back. I went in to treat myself, and upon looking over their menu of current flavors I was excited to see that they had my favorite: cookies and cream! so I got a medium cup with no toppings. I dipped my spoon in and took a big bite, only to realize that it tasted different from how it has always tasted. There was an off taste that I couldn't put my finger on, so I had a couple more bites just to make sure, and yeah, it didn't taste very good, so I took it back to exchange it for something else. The person behind the counter promptly explained that I couldn't get my money back, which was fine with me, I just wanted my yogurt. I got a small chocolate instead (a smaller size than what i previously ordered) and then she rang me up, and I asked her what she was doing, and she told me that it was my fault, and that I should have tasted it first. I told her that I had had that flavor before, and knew what it tasted like, so why would I have asked for a taster? she started arguing with me, and then left to get the owner, who informed me that I must pay for my replacement yogurt, even though I had already paid for the yogurt and returned it hardly touched. She then proceeded to tell me that that was why they strongly encouraged customers to taste the yogurt first. I explained to her that it tasted funny, and she just stood there arguing with me and telling me that it was my fault.......WHAT kind of customer service is this? i finally told her HEY, i am not trying to screw you, I just don't want to have to pay double for something I didn't enjoy? come on this is food service....do you think that would fly in a restaurant?.....finally she said......fine just take it!! UNBELIEVABLE........well she just lost a loyal customer!! for an owner to do something like that is pathetic.
