Came here for happy hour and ended up ordering dinner as well! We started with the chicken nachos and honey chicken bites (neither pictured because I forgot). The chicken on the nachos were incredible - braised in a homemade ancho Chile broth! The nachos itself were pretty bland however I think if some lettuce was added it could've spiced it up. The chicken bites were way over fried and didn't have much flavor so I would skip those.
For my entree I ordered the honey sriracha shrimp bowl - the shrimp and brown rice were SO good! The broccoli tasted a little too burnt in my opinion and the pickled carrots were a little too spicy for my liking. Service was great and very attentive. I will definitely come back and can't wait to try more things!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 58193110Dec 22, 2019
I have been here several times with my wife and we have enjoyed the food and drinks every time, although sometimes the service is slow. My favorite is really the appetizers as they have some tasty and uniquely crafted apps like their chicken bites and curry aioli fries. I have tried several entrees and have not been wowed by any of them, but they have been good. I've tried the honey sriracha shrimp, the Cuban and the fish and chips.
My wife's go to the is ancho chili bowl and she's never mad about going here - so that's something.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 18, 2017
OMG. The manager says I can move in. There's a little bench where I can stay. Yay!
From the moment you arrive on the grounds at Crosstown, you realize this is an experience, not just a visit to a restaurant.
There's a promenade with a water feature, trees and accent lighting.
When you enter the restaurant, the hosts and hostesses are full of smiles and attentiveness to make sure you're taken care of.
There are great seating options: A patio, the dining area, and the bar. The restaurant has such an open feel, it's great for people watching.
I haven't even gotten to how good the food is. I got the vegetarian tacos and they let me add chicken. So so good!
The drinks were made to perfection and the service is out of this world.
"Next Door" is great for a group of friends, a date night or just an ordinary meal.
If you're with someone who can't walk far, drop them off at the front entrance because parking can be a little walk.
Do try this amazing eatery, and don't be startled, if you see me camped out on a bench.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Stanley D.Memphis, TN522314Jan 27, 2020
Great addition to crosstown! Fun American eatery with gluten free and vegetarian options. Semi affordable alternative to bbq and pizza
Happy Hour
Their happy hour is definitely worth a visit. Great deals on drinks, drafts, and interesting snacks. Some of the snack sizes are small (looking at you chicken bites) but only $5 and still tasty.
Drinks
Light/refreshing spin on classic well drinks. The Next Door margarita had a lot of salt for my taste, but I enjoyed the Tito's mule. Beer list included all the local brewery flagships with a few seasonals.
Food
Great portions with a variety of options ranging from salads to burgers to salmon.
Ancho Chicken Chile Bowl: amazing, especially the spicy shredded chicken on top
Roasted Veggie Bowl: hearty and flavorful with well seasoned broccoli and cauliflower
Guac: freshly made with warm chips
Curry Aioli: honestly whatever you're ordering make sure to order this on the side
Service was also great! Friendly wait staff and easy going environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2019
Visited there with another couple for a retirement celebration. Was going to order from their happy hour menu till I noticed they serve Impossible Burgers! A tad expensive ($15) but it was worth trying it, as it's pretty much just as advertised - the texture seems like, and the taste was almost indistinguishable from a beef hamburger! I'll have to do a test where I eat one of these at the same time as a real hamburger.
My wife had the Garlic & Parmesan Smashers, a repeat from our last visit and delicious again. The other couple had the loaded smashers and crispy (sriracha) chicken bites. All enjoyed their meal.
Service was prompt and pleasant. The acoustics are awful (the site is part of an old refurbished Sears warehouse), so this may not be the best place for a meeting, but it has an ice cream parlor and bars next door, along with free parking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 25, 2019
This review is based on a limited experience at Next Door, but that limited experience was also caused by the lack of substance that I felt this place had after ordering. We came here for a lunch date and I got the Fries & Curry Aioli as well as the Garlic & Parmesan Smashers to start. Well, after they came out as the sad starter dishes they were, I figured best not waste my time anymore.
There were maybe 15-20 total fries. That's a bit absurd for a $4 dish, especially when these aren't homemade or house style fries; they're shipped frozen and put in the same grease as McDonald's. The Garlic & Parmesan Smashers had decent flavor, but it was hard to enjoy that when you're biting into a potato that is so cooked that it taste stale.
Overall, just not impressed. I recall visiting a while back closer to when they first opened and moderately enjoying their happy hour. Maybe I'll give that a go again, but I won't be back for anything else.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 225228712Jun 1, 2019
We visited this restaurant that was conveniently located in the Crosstown Concourse. Unfortunately, this restaurant was such a disappointment...I ordered the 50/50 and my husband ordered the fish and chips. The 50/50 was incredibly bland and probably one of the worst burgers I ever had in my life...I sampled my husband's dinner as well. The texture of the fish was great, but there was absolutely no flavor to it. The tartar sauce was great, so that helped to make it a more enjoyable dish. Needless to say, this is one that unfortunately I will have to pass on for future visits.

Garlic Parmesan Smashers. Get them and you won't be disappointed.
Next Door has a fresh menu with options for vegans, as well as folks that need gluten-free or other dietary specific dishes.
It also has a great atmosphere with a unique drink menu and TVs if you're looking to watch a game while you eat.
Not to mention, this place is in Crosstown Concourse, which is one of the coolest places in Memphis!
My only issue with it was the variance in portion size. The buffalo chicken bites ($11) were good, but there weren't many in the bowl. Yet, the large order of smashers ($8) was overflowing from the plate. Just a little more consistency and Next Door would be perfect.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura V.Memphis, TN207127260Jan 26, 2019
I had my first experience here today, and it was really good! Love all the healthier options, and if you want to eat a little bit more unhealthy, there are those options too!
We had the veggies salad (which was underwhelming), but the garlic and parm smashers, salt and pepper chicken, and curry cauliflower were delicious!!!
Service was great--very attentive.
We will be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Malinda F.Corpus Christi, TX23895Nov 11, 2018
