You want "Color of Money" Tom Cruise action? Well, this is where you find all of the slick pool players in the Westside. Yes, they bring their own sticks. They have shuffleboard! The owner loves maritime things, as the walls are covered with yacht photos and deep sea fishing excursions. This is a locals kind of joint. The service is nice and laid back. They have a parking lot with no valet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A true gem in LA.
the cozy inn is a dive bar, the crowd is laid back, drinks prices are decent...there a couple of pool tables in the back...i felt cozy there :)

Used to go here a couple years ago, and I can't quite put a finger on why, but it does feel cozy. There usually aren't many judgmental people there, and the bar game equipment is nice. The drinks are strong and the asian bartender Kelly is cute (if she's still there)
I don't even drink, and I am really looking forward to a return visit to the Cozy. It's walking distance from my apartment, which means it's my roomies' new regular spot. I didn't go the first few times I was invited, but I finally sucked it up and walked over with them and.... WOW.
Let's just say that while, yes shuffleboard and darts etc can be found here, the real prize is that little electronic precious on the far south end of the bar. Take a gander at the Photohunt options. Oh, I must have forgotten to mention it's EROTIC PHOTO HUNT!!?@??!?
You have your choice of men or women, penthouse or regular, and you have to find the differences between the two very similar photos. We played this game all night.
(*** I wish I knew what the hell the rest of you were talking about re: the juke box. The music on there is the worst of any bar ever. Now, if we could steal the juke box from the White Horse and stick it in the Cozy, we'd be ready to roll.**)

This is the preferred after work dive bar. And this is a dive bar in the true sense of the word.
They don't have food, so get some Paco's Tacos and bring them over here, they don't mind.
The drinks are super stiff, and the shuffleboard is rad. Pool tables in the back.
Game on.
Best dive bar on all of LA!
If you want cheap and strong drinks served by nice and friendly (SHOCKED!) bartenders, this is the place to be; Tom/Eric/John kicks major ass, and Kelly, besides being hot, will kick back some major shots with you and party on down.
I've been a loyal Cozy patron for the past 8 years, and it never disappoints, regardless if it's a quiet Wednesday night or a jam-packed crazy Friday/Saturday night, I always leave with a smile on my face and $ left in my pocket.
If you are into the whole "LA-Hollywood" fake crowd, this is not the place for you; if you are into just having a good times with friends and/or dates (I've bring a few here), this is the place to be.
If I could 10 stars, I would!!!!!

I've never had a bad time here. It's a great place for a large group of friends. They have a Jukebox which is a big plus for me. I love being able to have a drink and play a song that I love, it just places me in the perfect mood. I was here this past thursday and it was pouring outside, not very many people at the Cozy that night but it felt just right. It was one of those nights where you just want to be mellow and hear the rain, play music, while playing a little shuffleboard. We even had a cool conversation with the bartender which i think is the owner of the Cozy. He is really cool, down to earth, and I could really tell that he enjoys what he does.
It is also pretty affordable to drink here.

Hell yeah. A great LA dive bar and the sweetest place to play shuffleboard in the city. No pretension here, just drink some whiskey and listen to the juke box.

This is a great place. No frills, no crowd, no pretention...just a low-key place, perfect for enjoying a beer at the bar. Plus they have darts, pool and shuffleboard! The bartender was super nice, and we saw Jay Chandrasekhar (Ramathorn from Super Troopers!)...one of the only celebrity sightings I've ever cared about. Definitely a great place if you don't feel like making going to get a drink into a production.
P.S. They have a parking lot!

I live near this place and wanted to mention something about this bar and every other bar west of LaCienega...THE MUSIC BLOWS...The nearer to the beach you get the more backward the music. This place is down to earth, which is good, but listening to Fleetwood Mac?
Why are all the bars west of LaCienega stuck in the 70"'s. What is up with that. Of course, Saints and Sinners is the sole exception to that.
Thank goodness for them or I'd have to trek to Hollywood and east all the time.
I took a rather attractive date here once and I felt like I walked into a bar in Fremont, California or something. Lots of baseball hats and mom jeans and guys with unfashionable facial hair staring at you. I'm not a fancypants but I felt like one.
its a true dive bar to be sure, but its places like this that make you think is prob better to just drink at home.
Also, its in Culver City which is a wasteland.

Went here for the first time this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised - it was not scary at all. The people were actually friendly and the bartender was very nice. Just stopped in for one cocktail, but I'm sure I'll be back.

Its not called Cozy Inn for nothing. It is a kick ass place if you want a drink and no fuss. I got trashed here on Superbowl Sunday and they fed the whole bar all day.
Good stuff!

ALL you need to know about this chocolate city establishment are these 11 letters.... (in this order, and one letter is repeated once):
S-H-U-F-F-L-E-B-O-A-R-D!!!!
there is a motel in the back if you need to take a nap between matches or if you get lucky with one of the older bar bags. also, there is a jukebox and plenty of floorspace if you need to work out the details to yr latest dance routine.
*Carrie-- when i've been there the "salt/sand/crystals/something-or-other that you sprinkle all over" the shuffleboard table has been a pleasant mix of cocaine, pcp and meth. defitinitely good times!

I so want to give this place 4 stars..... but a few things held it back.
First off, I went there on a friday night, which can mean a packed bar. But.. surprise! We still had room to move around and even got a table a few minutes later!
We got a few drinks, and boy howdy were they strong! And only 4 and a quarter each.. it was like a gift!
So why not 4 stars? Well... I'll have to admit the atmosphere felt a little sports-bary. There were quite a few backwards hats and the four TV's above the bar were displaying sports highlights. The shuffleboard, although potentially cool, was mostly in the way and dominated by the same people for the few hours we were there.
This place might be a good weekday bar, but for fridays...you can do better.
P.S.: They only accept cash and ATM cards... NOT CREDIT! Be aware!

Nice little mellow place. The drinks are great! They made mine extra strong (HALLOWEEN) and were really cheap. Three of us were on one tab and the first round came out to about 13 dollars. That was for one rum and coke, one whiskey and coke, and one tequila and diet coke (mine!). Yeah, you're probably thinking that's gross, but it's delicious, trust me! Every time I order it, the bartender makes a face at me. But hey, you're the fool who is missing out! Extra strong tequila and diet/cokes are called HALLOWEEN because of all the festivities around this time involving this drink.
I know a lot of people like the shuffleboard, but I feel like it's in the way - bad layout. Yeah yeah, where else are they going to put it.
The juke box (shakes head sadly) is a shame. Shame shame shame. I put in my dollar to line up some rocking songs but alas, the selection of exciting songs was really low. The majority of albums were the likes of The Eagles (bleh) and Dave Matthews Band (double bleh).
I feel like there was an older crowd here, maybe this is why the jukebox is as it is. Hah!
Pool tables in the back, that's good.
Good cheap drinks - I'd go here again. Whee! Remember, cash and debit cards only.

the masochist in me likes to pull me here every so often.
the biggest, stinkiest problem with this place:
light.
if i go to a dive, i want it dark enough not to know if i'm drinking the right drink until i taste it. "hey, hey! i ordered a gin and tonic. what is this? [...] a manhattan? oh, ok. that's good, i like those, too."
the cozy is way too bright. bright like the need of spf 30 bright.
the bathroom sucks, but with a parking lot, you don't really need to venture too far toward the back.
a good thing about this place is that if the bartender pays any attention to the fact you're at the bar and need a drink, the cost is pretty damn good and i've gotten more than a fair share of buy backs.
i went here on a date (her suggestion) and we were two of six people there, so the bartender humored us by giving us a bizarre variety of drinks, many of which we didn't have to pay for.
go if you like shuffle board and bright lights.
don't go if you like your dive bars full of hipsters in the dark.
i may not like hipsters too much, but i'd rather be in the dark.

I have been here a few times with my bfriend. I do like it. I just hate that they only take cash and ATM cards. I like this place otherwise.
I heart this place! Hadn't been in a while, but was there last night for a co-worker's birthday. This place is rad for so many reasons: Cheap drinks with a very strong pour. The crowd is always diverse -- all shapes and sizes and ages. They have an actual jukebox... none of this digital shit where 1 dollar gets you 1 song. I read a comment on here about how crappy the jukebox is. While it might not be so progressive or cutting-edge, it's got the bar standards (CCR, Journey, Bill Joel, etc), plus some cool stuff like Radiohead. They've got pool, shuffleboard, that PGA golf game with the Missile Command tracking ball thingy. What's not to love? This is a no-nonsense bar. No pretension whatsoever!

I like places like this- a lot. It reminds me of one of my favorite bars from college, only Cozy lacks karaoke. Odd crowd here though- a little something of everything- reformed frat types, nascar kids, old dudes, etc. I was stocked about the music selection- thankee! Cheap drinks, the typical- they have stella and newcastle-puts ya big in my book. It should also be noted- not a bad bathroom for a bar. Not stellar, but I've seen much, much worse---for sure squat-able. It's also up the street from some perfect late night boozey eateries- tito's tacos (which sadly isn't as late night as I'd like it to be), Johnnie's Pastrami (they have fire pits- hello!), and Cinco De Mayo. It's the perfect place to chill at when you know you gotta get out, but don't want deal with "going out."

This place reminded me of San Francisco. It was dicey, and cozy! we were only there for a quick drink and some taco's from down the street... (I'm still trying to find out the name of that place, sooooo goood!)
It was cool that they let us eat them up in the bar.

The Cozy is another westside bar that I've been told to check out since I've been having really bad experiences westside lately. The place seems like it is a sports bar, but it doesn't scream it at you. Everyone who works here is very personable and the beers are super reasonable. There's a cool skee ball type game that reminded me of how much I miss Little Pedros before it became the ridiculous and doomed to fail bordello. There are 2 or 3 pool tables and darts. Once in a while when I'm working a good buzz I like playing some games so I'll keep The Cozy in mind.
I was outside while my friend smoked and the bartender came out to tell me he thought I left and threw away my beer. He then said he left me a fresh one where I was sitting to make up for it. Very cool.
Not exactly a dive bar, but it is a very comfortable place to be with very cool patrons and employees.
Friendly crowd. Nice mix of people. Very chill. Can get a little crowded, but only because it is small and there is a shuffle board in the middle of the room.
So this is one of those little off the beaten path type joints...we went on a Saturday night and walked our asses in just like we owned the place! No need to dress up...come in whatever you like...jeans, a prom dress, a baseball hat, your PJ's...whatever floats yer boat. It's a no frills kind of establishment.
Key note: They have an AWESOME shuffle board table complete with salt/sand/crystals/something-or-other that you sprinkle all over so the little gizmo disks can slide better. Good times.
Drinks are reasonably priced as well...like about $7 or so for a cocktail. My friends created a particularly good one that I recommend: Stoli Blueberry and soda with a splash of cranberry juice. DElish.

If you are looking for a "nice" dive bar, this is the place to be. Perfectly located near Titos Tacos, this place is a great local to grab some drinks (in the middle of the day), watch some sports and play from shuffle board.
I'm a little biased about this place because it enables me to get sloshed and stumble back home the old fashion way. With my own two feet.
The atmosphere is not scary, the decor is simple, and the drinks are cheap. They have a great jukebox you can unload all your car change into. And they have pool tables in the back room and shuffle board. They also have those really stupid video game things that are really fun to play drunk.
Tips...Careful parking around the neighborhood because of permit parking
Also, when a drunk guy starts talking to your guy friend about how his wife cheated on him. Try to walk away slowly because he'll try to switch hit and give your guys a little more than just a beer and a slap on the ass.

I heart the cozy inn.
its the only place i know of that has a SHUFFLE BOARD. its a great game where the more you drink the better you get. (tee hee i just like tricking others to drink more....MORE). you also get to meet other people because you have to stand on the side with your enemy. AND you dont need any skill except the ability to push things with your fingers.
drinks are cheap, people are chill, and a good mix of people.
*in addition to the stuff above, i have recently discovered NAKED PHOTO HUNT!!!! female version. for a dollar you can play four rounds of "find the difference between two photos." the difference can be patterns, shadows, limbs, longer hair, or a missing nipple. its just like HIGHLIGHTS! As you keep playing the women really DO become objects. unlike in real life where you should NEVER treat women as objects. or should i say womon to challenge the societal norm of assuming womon need wo"man" or wo"men" to exist.
cozy inn is like a dive bar that's been through rehab. i'm not exactly sure what that means but for some reason it makes sense to me. local place with local people as well as hipsters from beverly hills and beyond. shall i go so far as to say it was cozy, why not? shuffleboard was definitely fun and i wasn't even tipsy when playing. juke box with a good selection of classic rock. parking is plentiful which is always a plus.
Used to go here all the time when I first moved to town. Good drinks, good atmosphere and I really liked that it was such a mixed crowd. Hipsters, bikers, college kids, old men...all kinds of people come here. Plus it's a block away from Tito's Tacos.
I stopped going there hough because some of their bartenders are just horrid. They would take forever to refill a drink, pour really weak and all around would just treat you like a nuisance. It's a shame because the others were great. Unfortunately the crap bartenders seemed to work the most shifts.
I still think this is a great bar though and occasionally meet up with friends there for beers before going to Tito's.

Oh I've been to the Cozy Inn alright. My friend and I passed the quaint sign driving back from Baja Cantina on Washington (after having had a few margaritas) and shared a laugh. Then I said in all sincerity, "We should go there." So we made a u-turn, parked, and stepped inside. It's a great dive bar. I met this regular, "El," who used to play basketball for UNLV and claimed to be tight with all the Vegas old timers like Gladys Knight and Wayne Newton. Quote of the night: "Siegfried and Roy are two cool motherf-ers." He was kind enough to pay for all our drinks as well. They had some pool tables and one of those weird bar games with the long table with some sand and rolly things. And a sweet jukebox with all my jamz. I had to take a shot of some nasty cinnamon schnapps to be initiated into the Cozy Inn club, but it was well worth it.

i dig this place. it's way chill. and i like that about bars. it used to be an old cop bar i'm told so everyone is lax about things. people smoke inside. and while i'm NOT a smoker and pretty much hate smoke, i was never a fan of them banning smoking in bars. so this place is sort of rad in that regard. they also have a shuffleboard set up, pool table, and darts. drinks are decently priced and you won't have to cut through any thick air surrounding people's egos.

if you want to feel the least like you're in a bar in LA, but more like you're in your beer-chugging uncle's rec room, cozy inn is the place to be. transcends 'dive bar' by being even more homey and laid back, with a couple pool tables, neon beer signs, classic rock on the juke box, and my favorite, the shuffle board table for 50 cents a game. they stopped letting you smoke inside back in february '06, but it's still one of my favorite places to kick back and grab a couple beers with the guys for cheap (bottles only, no draughts). mixed drinks are generous too for not a lot of cash. and you gotta love the odd pairing of the old timers cozied up to the bar watching a game with the younger crowd obviously just discovering this place -- it's classic. (for a bonus, start the night across the street at tito's taco's or around the corner at markie d's for a cheesesteak... unbeatable combination, and they'll let you bring the food in if you're nice!)
ps: mark, the bartender with a ponytail, is the nicest drink slinger in town.
