611 S La Brea AveDiamond Foam and Fabric now offers On-Site Upholstery…
Announced 3 weeks agoAre you a home decor addict? C'mon, admit it. I saw those issues of Met Home and Dwell piling up in your place and the suspicious fact that you could pronounce Brunschweig & Fils.
Diamond is a paradise of fabrics, from the luxe (hand-sewn silks) to the quirky (monkeys and scottie dogs and parrots, oh my) to the Jetsons to the just plain beautiful. Better yet, they give you a pair of scissors at the door and encourage you to take samples. Even cuter, there is usually some kind of homemade baked good they're giving out as well.
I can roam in here for hours dreaming of upholstering everything in my house. If I were thrifty, though, I'd take that sample swatch and go downtown.

Best Fabric & Foam in all of LA.
F&S is a close second. More like the West side sister of Diamond. Similar fabrics, but not the same.
I've been to about 8 good fabric places in LA - if you count Downtown as one place. Yes, if it has to be cheap & you have hours to spend sweating & walking & haggling . . . then go downtown. Downtown is good for oddities like fake fur, pleather & shiny dress fabrics. I have found decent upholstery & curtain fabric there for $7 per yard.
Diamond actually does have great fake leather, patio fabrics and less expensive, beautiful fabric. They also have the best stuff at $75 per yard. This is where interior designer's go to buy their fabric, why not have the same options? I saw a designer pillow in a shop made from Diamond's fabric selling for $200 - when the fabric was maybe $30.
FYI The foam part is in a separate building several blocks down La Brea. I hadn't heard that it closed - that would be wierd!
You would think from their name that Diamond FOAM and Fabric would sell foam, right? WRONG! At least they don't anymore. The fantastic one stop shop for going to get any foam you need, and even have a nicely built (if not incredibly pricey) foam cushion made to replace the seat of your favorite old chair no longer sells foam or makes anything other than loose pillows. You'd think, they'd change their name or at least advertise that they no longer sell foam.
Oh, the other thing, if you find a fabric you think you like at the store, put it on hold. Both times that I've taken swatches home to check the color and then gone back within a week to purchase the needed yardage, the fabric was already on hold and they couldn't sell me any. They could however place a special order with a 20 yard minimum. So if you're planning on spending $1000 on 20 yards of fabric this store is THE place to go. If not, I'd recommend spending the day haggling and sifting through the stores at the fabric mart downtown.
I'm giving it two stars because its still a fun place to go and look at all the pretty fabric and if you happen to find something on the spot you love and are willing to take the risk spending an average of $50 a yard on fabric without much time to think about it, its still a good place to visit. If they change their name, I'll give them three.

This is one of two (the other being F & S on Pico Blvd.) fabric stores in the city that I SWEAR by!! This place is a literal labrynth of fabric stacked so high that you would think you're looking up the beanstalk to heaven. Rows and rows and rows of everything from silk to cotton to linen to upholstery to wet your appetite. Prices are pretty reasonable, I think even more so than the F & S Home store...perhaps equal to the regualr F & S. Easy to park...kind of pain if you are looking for something specific..there's just so much to look at cuz they have it all!

Yes I have been faced with trying to find that perfect piece of foam, and I am happy to say that Diamond foam and fabric has everything and anything for your foam and fabric needs. PLUS, and here is the important part, a sales staff who are helpful and knowledgable. Knowledgable about foam! who woulda thunk.
There are 2 places I go to when in need of foam, Diamond Foam and Fabric here in LA and Moishes Foam Supply in Lower Manhattan.
