145 Laurel StRaspberry Sorbet so light and delicious, stop by and…
Announced 10 days agoLet me just say ... I am most definitely an alien! No doubt about it!
There.
So I went up to Santa Cruz for good ol' 420 and to visit my sister who attends UCSC.
I had heard about this place, and being a vegetarian i was eager to check it out!
I ordered the tuno melt and it came with a nice salad on the side. The plate was absolutely delicious! Gotta love their menu! (Prices were alright... pretty typical for dinner food).
When it was time for me to hit the restroom I was instructed by a waiter to get one of the keys by the counter.
I made my way to around the corner to the back hallway where accommodations can be found... and thats when it happened.
THE BIGGEST DECISION OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!
Was I a robot or an alien??? http://www.yelp.com/bi...
I stopped and seriously pondered this for a few seconds.... contemplating the very essence of my being- as if I had awaken from a slumber, I weighed my options, considered my identity, and did a bit of soul searching.
Soon enough it came to me.
ALAS! It was obvious that I was a wild, freaky and free thinking alien and no cold heartless freakin robot!
I love the decor, atmosphere and menu at this place. Can't wait till next time I'm up north and hit up this late night joint again!

This place is disgusting. I refuse to eat here. I don't understand what it is about people in Santa Cruz thinking that just because something is popular, that means it is good. I have nothing against a vegetarian resturant, or vegetarians for that matter. Just do it well. This place is dirty, and the wait staff is rude and dirty looking themselves. I mean really....... How hard is it to doctor up a boca burger???? This place gets two thumbs down.

Went here with my friend the vegetarian...which I am not. But the food was great! I got the Cowgirl Blues salad, with fake buffalo chicken and fake bacon...it was really good! My friend got the Veggie Omelet but didn't want the home fries or toast. The waitress offered her some fruit on the side instead, and she didn't skimp. She gave my friend so much fresh fruit that she couldn't finish it all.
We ended up at this restaurant again after going to the clubs, at about 2 in the morning. The waiter was very patient with our inebriation, and we got some very yummy french fries.
The only complaint was that the bathroom (I think the robots one) was pretty stinky.
I'm a bonafide carnivore; I eat my weight in meat. I don't just focus on one particular animal in one sitting either, I'll mix up all kinds characters from Charlotte's Webb. Nasty Nate don't discriminate! If there is something on the table that doesn't have meat, I'm gonna fit some juicy fatty meat somewhere in there. There's always room for a cluck cluck or a moo moo ontop of a salad believe you me.
Anyway, you're probably thinking what the hell this guy is doing reviewing Saturn Cafe? Well, contrary to my eating beliefs, my better half is a vegetarian. I'm talking about my wife. Back in '01-'03 when we were dating she kept pushing me to try Saturns. We lived a dangerous 40 minute drive from Santa Cruz and the only times I'd go out of my way and into that area is to see my friends at UCSC, and that happened rarely. Well, one day I gave in when we decided to go on a date in the area. "Good we could go to Saturns!" she said. Whoop de fucking doo, I get to go to a sit down restaurant and pay premium for reheated Morning star brand items you could buy at any grocery store.
Yea I was skeptical.
We arrived, the place looked like a cracked out pee wee's play house. All kinds of pop culture art deco plastered the walls and table with of course a "space" theme being the base of the atmosphere. I thought it was interesting, but I become majorly impressed when we sat down at table that was decorated with, and you'd never guess (cuz you're probably more mature than I am), GPK cards! Holy crap! This was still before the time Topps started reprinting GPK cards so it surely was a sight to behold! First impressions are important and Saturns presented well. I found the menu to be creative and interesting, full of word play for the alternative "traditional" American diner food. It seemed they had every soy meat available on the market, from ribs to chicken to fakin' bacon. I decided to go all out my first time and order the Buck Rogers with a shake.
Five years ago, when you thought of vegetarians and the whole "chain of elitism" above them, you also thought "minimalist". A vegetarian usually eats simple as selections are limited. Saturns pretty much blew all my pre/misconceptions like that away. They didn't fuck around thinkin' vegetarians are only going to eat hummus and cliff bars, they're going to get the whole package without the cholesteral and be damn proud of it. My Buck Rogers rib sandwich came with the works. I didn't even feel like I was eating soy based processed patty smothered in bbq sauce. I felt like I was getting the real thing.. but without the "ITIS".
I need to express my gratitude towards Saturns. If it wasn't for this place taking that leap forward to open an all vegetarian american diner, myself (along with a bunch more I bet) would still be turned off at the thought of a vegetarian diet. You can still please your fatass and be a vegetarian is all that i'm saying.. Saturn's proved it.
The dietary barrier was broken after my wife (then girlfriend) took me here. Since then I've been open to alot of vegetarian foods and more aware of spots like this that've opened up this decade.
But I'll still choose a beef wellington over an artichoke bite, bitachez!
Yelping this restaurant only makes me miss the time that I spent at UCSC. What is not to love about the vegetarian cafe that makes "burgers" and other menu items that would normally have meat in them? I remember the first time I went there as a freshman and was surprised how great the food was.
The best part about Saturn is "Wig Out" Wednesday. They give you 20% off if you wear a wig on Wednesday. How great is that? I also remember going there with my mom who loved the food.
The only down side is the water kinda sucks. The servers are also fit the santa cruz stereotype so that is not impressive. But there is no where else in the world that this place would be so popular
About as Santa Cruz as you can get. A round room, hand-painted windows, kissing hippies (like, original hippies, as in people now in their 60s), bathrooms for robots and aliens (rather than men and women). Kitsch and alternaculture to the nth degree. Not too shabby.
Food came out quickly! Big plus!
Iced tea was refilled with haste! Bigger plus!
Our server was super friendly, though very busy.
I had the California burger (meatless patty with avocado, lettuce, tomato and cheese) with greens. The burger fell apart easily (would more cheese have kept it together?), so it was a bit messy, but it was still good. My guy had the club sandwich with "fake-un" (fake bacon), which was really really good.
It's a diner, it's not high-end, and the music's a bit too loud and tinny, but I liked the vibe, and I'm all for supporting a vegetarian place.
I went here a few nights ago at around 11:30pm because I decided to take a shot and try a new place. I am not a vegetarian, but really do enjoy veggie dishes as long as they are prepared correctly. I ordered the Peanut Royale (rice with veggies and peanut sauce) and my girlfriend ordered a BLAT with fries (fake bacon).
First off, the food was a little bit too pricey for what you are getting. Second, the food didn't taste all that great. My plate was really bland and it just tasted like rice, and veggies mixed together--I could barely taste the peanut sauce. Simply, it tasted like a microwaveable meal that they just poured veggies and sauce over. My girlfriends BLAT tasted just OK, and the fries were good. The service here was below my standard, our waitress was a little too rude/aggressive at one point which put me off, but she was accomodating (like any hostess should be).
I've heard service here isn't that great to begin with. The only upside of this place is that it's open really late and has a really cool feel to it. If you enjoy classic 90s rock/ska music, then you'll hear it here. Unless you are a vegetarian and are out late looking for a meal, don't go here. Prices are ridiculous. Food is below average. Try Malabar Cafe for a great vegetarian meal instead located on Front St.!
I really miss the Saturn Cafe now that I don't live in Santa Cruz. I think that every city should have something like this. I really can't think of anything better than a vegetarian diner that's open until 3am.
I love the thin cut fries and if you're feeling daring the garlic cheese fries are buried in garlic and don't get me started on the milkshakes. The burgers are great too, definitely go for the Saturn Burger over the other types.
Went here for the first time today after hearing much about it. It's really cute inside, I love the tables they are kind of like shadow boxes. I think vegetarian resturants are the best, so they get points just for that. The service was a little slow, even though hardly anyone was in there. However, our waiter was adorable, so that sort of makes up for it. I didn't try any main dishes, just nachos and garlic fries. neither were the best I've ever had. The chips in the nachos were really great though, but otherwise just normal diner foods. I might raise this rating if I try it again, but from just this experience I think it might be a little over rated, and a little too pricey.
If my friend hadn't told me Saturn Cafe was a vegetarian place, I would not have guessed, even after tasting my Californian Burger. If you have ever suffered through a crappy veggie burger, you'll appreciate how valuable that is -- to have perfected the art of making decent veggie food that even appeals to regular ol' omnivores. Because of that and its awesome sweet potato fries, I heart Saturn Cafe and will put up with the somewhat sloow service.
This place opens until 3 a.m., that's pretty awesome in itself -- vegetarian restaurant operating just like a regular late-night diner. In fact, everything about it is very down-to-earth diner-esque. Big portions, fries, chili, milk shakes, onion rings, buffalo wings, burgers, burritos .. blah blah blah, you get the idea. Well, everything but the price. The burgers are about $9.50 each. Extra avocado will cost you $1.75, perhaps next time I will bring my own.
During the time we were there, a few people strayed in and retreated in horror after realizing it was a vegetarian establishment. Really, folks, would it kill you not to eat meat every once in the while??? WTF.
What I don't like about the place is the vegan food selection. Although almost all diner-like vegetarian places have only 5 or so main vegan options so I shouldn't be overly harsh; however, this place is located in the vegan mecca! I tried the vegan rib burger and Nathan got the vegan patty burger . The fries rocked. The chocolate tofu pie was pretty yummy and creamy. Nathan also ordered coffee beer, which was interesting but I failed to taste the coffee.
Overall, a good place for vegetarians and omnivores. Not the best place for vegans.

Vegetarian diner food.
Oh, yes.
Great huevos rancheros, veggie burgers and shakes. Everything I've had here is tasty, if a bit greasy. But it's a diner, so c'mon. And they have sweet potato fries!
It definitely prides itself on being quirky and funky and all of that. The decor and servers reflect this. Everyone is really friendly, even if the service is a little slow.
Sure, there are a handful of very minor issues, but I definitely look forward to coming back sooner rather than later. Those milkshakes really are amazing.
Great vegetarian and vegan food. Fun people great music. A little expensive but worth it. Amazing milk shakes, some of the best I have ever had. Pearl Ann is an amazing waitress and will let you know what is really good there. Stacy is also awesome.

Hell yes! This was the only place in Santa Cruz I went to twice in my short two-day visit even though I had instituted a "visit-each-place-only-once" policy. Saturn Cafe made me wish I lived in SC just because it seems like the perfect place to go to with friends at 2 in the morning after partying. It also has to do with the fact that California doesn't have enough good diners, and I grew-up in a very diner-oriented youth culture in NJ.
I'm coming back for the mac and cheese the next time I'm in town, that's for damn sure!

i'm a big meat fan, but upon being taken to saturn cafe by a former vegetarian and vegan i discovered the joy of 'fakin' bacon. I love their sweet potato fries as well as the 'chicken' wings. I tend to hit up saturn cafe everytime i'm within the santa cruz area. I love their space cowboy burger with includes a 'patty' as well as the onion ring/bbq sauce all in one juicey bite. So if you're ever in the area of santa cruz and want to try something new or vegetarian, hit up saturn cafe.
The food here is unspectacular, to say the least, and the service is pretty damn terrible. HOWEVER, their desserts are super tasty, and nothing really beats having some fries after the bars close.

There should be more places like Saturn. Regular tasty food, only vegetarian. Not super healthy, not super expensive, not hippy dippy or hoighty toighty (as many vegetarian/vegan restaurants fall into one or more of these catergories). My personal favs: the tu-no melt, and the nachos. Yummy.

I crave a Tun-o melt every day of my horrible LA life. I can't believe I lived in Santa Cruz for two years and they only started offering it six months before I left.
Even before the advent of the Tuno melt, I never had a bad meal here. From the Western Burgers (swap the regular patty with a chicken patty) to the peanut stir fry thing (Thai Stir Fry?) I went broke trying to satisfy all my Saturn cravings. The shakes are amazing too!
I took my grandparents here when they visited me my first year at UCSC and while grabbing a sugar packet they found a (wrapped) condom. That was a little awkward, but they laughed it off.
Even though I can't get there a lot anymore, I hope someone reading this continues the tradition my friends and I have of writing down the most ridiculous names we could think of. I always liked Shaquanda.
I agree with the assessment "vegetarian/vegan Denny's" from Jill H. below...but I don't agree that the food is better. Well...it's better in the sense that, as a vegetarian, there is more variety for me there.
The food was really just average...nothing special...and for some reason you can't have whichever veggie patty you want with whichever burger you want. They have kind of a soup nazi attitude...without the stellar food.
I always have a special affection for restaurants where I can order anything on the menu so I want to give it 3 stars...but really, their food reminds me of what I'd make after a long day when I don't really feel like cooking or buying groceries and I just throw together whatever is laying around my kitchen.
The music is a mix of the interesting, the odd, and the disturbingly discordant. Read: Oh lord, please play something else. Our waitress was nice...but I don't know, it just didn't do it for me.

This restaurant used to be very good. However, for the past two years the menu has been cut to 1/4 of it's previous options. You used to be able to get any patty with any burger option and there were at least a dozen. Now you have 6 choices of burgers... The entrees have been reduced to just the bare basics and it's just a bunch of microwaved snack food. Yeah - you can pay $6 for 6 morningstar buffalo wings. $6 for 6 chicken nuggets. Brings me to my second point, this restaurant has jacked up its prices recently too. Where a grilled cheese used to cost $5, it now costs $7.50. I guess the wait staff here makes a decent wage because of it, so if that's why we're getting ripped off then I'm sort ok with it. Except for the fact that the wait staff is consistently rude and slow. After paying $6.50 for a milkshake tonight I realized I cannot endorse this local restaurant anymore like I used to. Let them know, those of you that remember how good this restaurant used to be, that you do not appreciate the abysmal quality they have strived for recently.
Hi guys ,I am one cook for seven years and when I come the first time to eat to Saturn cafe I order a cowboy burger and I tall my girlfriend is so amassing this burger and she tall me yes and is vegetarian burger and I thinking " not in not possible , the taste and flavor is really good" but is true, since this time when we not eat in the house the first option is Saturn cafe , thank you guys for made the best food in the world.

I love eating at the Saturn Cafe! I love people watching here because the crowd is definitely an assortment of characters. This place is definitely a vegan/vegetarian denny's but with better food. You can always find a seat but the service is not always too friendly. I always hit up this place while in Santa Cruz and I am not even a vegetarian!

I don't live in Santa Cruz, but when I stroll through it, I enjoy stopping by the Saturn Cafe for a quick bite. If you are looking for beef, you are not going to find it here. It's for the veggies. It's cute and funky and so is the waitstaff. This place reminds me of the diner in Pulp Fiction, but on a much smaller scale, and ok, not as cool. So, it's not Michelin rated, it's a vegetarian diner, get over it. When you need a veggie burger fix after hobnobbing around the downtown area, drop in to the Saturn Cafe.
Oh yeah, they have RC Cola for all of you old schoolers. :)

Food is average, portion is average, service is average, desert is average.
By average, I meant you can cook with the same quality food in ur kitchen if you aren't dumb. Eat here saves you some time to buy grocery and cook it if you eat her but don't expect some impressively great experience.
But that is ok, as long as it's a nice looking place to sit around and chill, they would have high ratings on yelp. I meant why else santa cruz vegetian food and sushi are so over-rated.
Every time I visit Santa Cruz I try and pop in here at least once. Parking is bountiful in the back. I like the decor and seating positions. No matter where you sit you can see everything else that's going on. No dark corners or exclusive VIP tables. The music is varied and interesting. Also a plus.
I read a review of somebody who, while accompanied by their grandmother, had a bad experience because they thought the music was too loud. Eating there yesterday, I was able to hold a conversation just fine with the person I was eating with. I could clearly hear the people a few tables away. Hey, I could even hear an old guy talking about his false teeth from across the restaurant! (I'll get to that in a sec) The music is by no means at a "low" volume, but it certainly doesn't interfere with conversation, nor would it cause anybody a headache. I think that reviewer should check out a nursing home.....not just for grandma, but for themselves as well.
Anyways, service here can sometimes be slow. Yesterday, it was spot on. We were seated, served beverages, and asked to place our order all in a timely manner. In fact, we had to ask the server to give us more time. Throughout the meal, my water glass never got past half empty.
I'm not really a stickler for service or charm. In fact, I kind of detest a waiter that is overly enthusiastic or smiley. It's kind of creepy. I cannot imagine anybody who genuinely feels so good to serve snobby customers' every whim. At Saturn, the people serving you are just...well, they're just themselves. No fake smile, no gurgling enthusiasm, no silly uniforms. I like that. Don't get me wrong, they're not rude or overbearing, but they most certainly are not annoying gnats such as those in the employ of, say.....Jamba Juice. Ugh. Gives me the shivers.
The food is good. It's not amazing, stupendous, or phenomenal. It's just good. Being vegan, I can eat most of what is on the menu, and request anything to be made vegan friendly. You don't see that very often. Definite bonus points for that.
They have beer, and from a local brewery no less. Served in frosty cold pint glasses. Doubleplusgood.
Of course every restaurant I visit has to pass my own personal litmus test of excellence. The french fries. I ordered the garlic fries. The portion was massive. I wasn't prepared for this. I split them with my friend and we could barely finish them by the end of the meal. The verdict: Skinny, crispy, and smothered in garlic that was slightly cooked to take away from the potency of fresh garlic. I would come here just for the beer and fries. A+
For my main course I decided on the Peanut Royale. Once again, the portion is huge. I like that. I'm a pretty tall guy and I can eat more than most people I know. This lunch gave me a run for my money. The veggies were steamed just right, retaining their color and flavor. The brown rice as well. A lot of folks can't get brown rice right. Saturn did. The peanut sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and was not overpowering as most tend to be. The sauce and rice were on the bottom, so the colors of the cilantro and green onions could contrast those of the carrot, cauliflower, and broccoli. The edges of the wide plate were laden with fresh shredded carrots like a wreath. I don't care a whole lot about presentation, but it was nice nonetheless.
I ate as hard as I could, but could not finish. I can safely say I got my moneys worth for this dish.
Yes, saturn cafe is a bit overpriced. Why does this come as a surprise to so many of you? They're in the middle of Downtown Santa Cruz and cater to a niche market. Compared to Good Karma in Downtown San Jose, they're actually rather reasonable. Those looking for ultra-cheap food can hit up the taco bell across the street. Ha.
Near the end of my meal an older gentleman who had just left came back and started looking franticly around his table for something. The table had been promptly cleared after he left, so he walked up to our server and informed him that he had left his false teeth on his plate wrapped in a napkin. Our server helped this old guy dig through the trash to find his teeth. I found it to be rather heartfelt in a gross sort of way.
I love Saturn Cafe. It's not for everybody though. The service can be slow. In the past, when I've been in a rush, I've ordered the food to go over the phone. The menu (with prices) is on their website.
Oh, by the way: I notice a lot of bad reviews of vegetarian restaurants from meat eaters. If the food or service or whatever is bad, that's fine. Giving a vegetarian restaurant a bad review because it's VEGETARIAN is plain retarded. Following that logic, I should review all steakhouses in my area with 1 star because THEY SERVE STEAK.
Quit making fools of yourselves yelpers.

I'm a vegetarian and I really like the food. But the service just downright sucks. But hey some of the people are cool. But they all will ignore you and leave you for a long time.
cool place nonetheless
but way too everpriced
I've been here at least 20 times, maybe more.
Excellent food, even for non-vegetarians such as myself. I took my father here, who loves his steak, etc. and he absolutely loved it. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the food.
Definitely order the Space Cowboy burger if you go here - it's awesome.
This place has THE WORST SERVICE I have ever received, without fail. I think I went here once out of my twenty times and got okay service. The hipster servers will ignore you and chat to their co-workers. Be prepared to go up to the counter to ask for your check or give them your money.
Luckily for Saturn's owners, they have awesome food that trumps the ridiculously bad service.
Also: do not use the restrooms here. Just trust me on this one.
What an interesting concept! I visited Saturn for the first time last night and enjoyed their California faux Burger with Avocado and Jack Cheese. The burger had a bit of a nutty after taste, but the fries dipped in their homemade vegan Chipolte sauce were amazing!
The decor is a little out of this world....funky lighting, unisex bathrooms, random table toppers and an old pac-man arcade game. The service was great (although I have heard otherwise). They do serve Santa Cruz Organic Brewing Company beer, but absolutely no meat! Saturn is located at the end of downtown in a bit of a shady area. There's lots of randoms hanging out near by and I actually saw a drug deal go down. Probably not the best place to be alone too late at night.
I also heard that its a very common area of bike theft,so leave your bicicleta at home!
This is such a cute little diner place and it is all vegetarian!! They also have lots of vegan dishes and the menu is very cute and diner-y.
The employees are all really nice and the milkshakes are very good.
A little overpriced for my style and the food is good but not life changing. The dishes are just really simple like fries and all that stuff.
Decor = excellent with little Saturn lights to make it look like Saturn!

Saturn cafe is classic. They have great vegetarian food, it doesnt taste vegany. The skinny fries are the best, the dessert is hot. The service is unique, some could call it terrible. I just relax, grab some toys and I dont expect to get my check in a hurry.
I like Saturn Cafe because it's a unique place to eat and the atmosphere is really fun. My friend went to eat at Saturn after her birthday party, and we had a crazy good time dancing around the restaurant and talking with other people who were eating there. Saturn is also great because if you're craving meatless anything, they probably have it there, or in the very least, a variation of what you would want. They have AMAZING milkshakes, and AMAZING skinny fries. Their servers are really energetic and spunky, have fantastic style (I like my waiters tattooed) and are over all friendly.
Now for the bad part... if you're planning on going to eat at Saturn, plan at least 3 hours out of your day to spend there. It takes a LONG time to get served... once, our waiter forgot that he hadn't taken our order. That, or they'll tell you that they're really swamped in the kitchen and our orders are going to take an extra half hour to 45 minutes until it's out. yeah. right. The perk with that is most of the time, the waiters will not charge us for our drinks because they feel bad that we've waited that long.
All in all, Saturn Cafe is great, if you have the time to actually take and sit there to wait. In any case, you can probably just dance around the restaurant until they give you your food.
The Saturn is employee owned, which is great. It's a funky vegetarian place, where even carnivores can find something tasty to eat. The decor seems to change often and the tables have fun themes.
I used to absolutely love it here - but they often change around recipes and are out of things, which is frustrating. Hands down the tastiest cream of tomato soup, with a yummy dill kick. Fantastic home made ranch dressing - that they'll happily give you for your fries. They offer both skinny or thick fries and I'm on the skinny fry camp. They do fun silly or political specials too.
I used to love the saturn patty - but the new incarnation has been dry and crumbly. Choices like the chix parm, spartan salad or the pack are all tasty and made with morningstar farms products. I also like the sampler and chocolate madness is to die for,
Service is totally spotty, sometimes it rocks - other nights you're there for hours waiting feeling ignored. It's a popular spot late night - so it gets really nuts around 2 am on the weekends when the clubs close.
The bathrooms are completely ambiguous and it's great fun to watch new comers figure out which one to choose. CELEBRITY SIGHTING: One night we met Jello Biafra there and even the punk rock legend was flummoxed about which bathroom to use!

I think this place is great. Great food, great atmosphere, good shakes. I'm all about the burgers. It's all vegan and it's still fantastic.
Sometimes a few too many teenie-boppers hanging around but that's not enough to turn me off of some good food.
I like Saturn. Their fries are the best. I would order a burger just to get the fries. I usually get the fake chicken burger, which is delicious. I think most of their fake meat really taste like meat. Some of the food is a little over-priced though, for example, the chilled cheese with ham. You should try the fake buffalo wings though, they're pretty good. Although I love the food and the decor is interesting, the service sucks most of the time. We usually have to wait a while to get seated and food to be served (even when it's somewhat empty).
I'm a sucker for alternatives. I love me a slab o' steak but I was raised vegetarian and I cook mostly vegan so I'm down for whatever. this place fits the bill pretty well. I liked that my waitress had a double mohawk. but she looked 16, BUT who am I to say? I did get confused at the bathrooms. am I a transvestite? I don't think so but now, I don't know. who's asking? dammit, I just need to pee.
the food is comforting and still nondescript
the prices are moderate and the soup made me warm.

Loved the original Mission Street location much more--too bad it burned down.
The "new location" is a bit too big and open. It lost that intimate, dark, funky charm.
It's still relatively funky, but with its exposed location catering to a much larger, more mainstream crowd.
Food is a bit hit or miss, but you can never go wrong with its capstone dessert--Chocolate Madness!!

Yum! My stop for great vegetarian comfort food. The santa fe salad is one of my favorites. It is giant! But, I have to remember to request the dressing on the side because one time, my salad was literally swimming in it. Also, the milkshakes are really good! Old fashioned and creamy made with ice cream. I can actually get chili cheese fries with meatless chili! And fakin bacon! and tuno! Just found out the other day that the steak fries are no longer available, as they were not in high demand. I usually got the skinny fries, but will miss having the choice!
I don't really see the wait staff as being snobby at all. I've definitely experienced worse at other diners in the area. I frequent Saturn on average maybe once every two weeks, at various times of the day and night, and have not experienced an unfriendly waiter. Quirky, yes, but endearingly so.
Also, I wish people would stop sticking pieces of paper into the tables with disgusting sayings and phone numbers. I don't want to know that you are good at eating hairy pussy when I'm about to consume food.
Staring out the window at the taqueria across the street and dreaming of carnitas...
*sigh* the things you do for lust...
All in all not bad for breakfast nothing you can't throw together at home though (this goes for all diner breakfast and not indicative of this place.)
Prices are reasonable enough ($5 for a veggie sausage English muffin sammie w/tates )and the herbed taters that come with breakfast were quite delish.
The G got the eggs Benedict and the Hollandaise was quite tasty

I'm not a vegetarian so ill probably be biased on this review. I was FORCED to go here because one of my friends is vegetarian and swears by this place and she and her boyfriend were my ride so i had no say.
I had the grilled cheese sandwich since I wasn't in the mood to try something out of the ordinary due to starvation and not eating for the whole day.
It wasn't too bad i must say...but its a grilled cheese..how can you mess that up?
The service wasn't very good...they ignored us for most of the time and I had to scrounge around to get my own silverware and napkins.
The place was extremely crowded...and sitting a party of six wasn't very easy to do. Its not in the greatest location so its kinda scary to be there by yourself at night...
The grilled cheese was pricey for what i got...but it was worth it so that I wouldn't have to try imitation chicken.
...Sorry but that's just not my cup of tea ;)

I came here to lunch a few months ago with my grandma and was really unimpressed with the service and food. The waitresses didn't help us for a full 20 minutes (and there was only one other group in the place). The music was terribly loud and they refused to turn it down.
When they finally took our order it took forever for us to get our food (30 minutes!) We finally had to leave when our headaches took over our hunger. We asked for our food to go (which took another 10 minutes and wasn't even fully warmed up).
Go elsewhere!
