Let me first clarify that my previous reviews were for the Bistro Burger on Mission next to a parking lot and between Beale Street Bar and Lee's on the corner(after you pass Bistro going toward Spear).
There is a slightly different set up with the 2 locations.I have been to the one at 201 Mission on more than one occasion and when you walk in you go straight ahead (aisle)and order,Tables on the left and right, but let me tell you again this is not the same set up like the one my review is under.
Despite this, try it for what it is..

I have terrible luck. If you don't believe me, just ask about my L.A. Game Show experience last week. Actually, don't ask me, because then I'll be forced to drink copious amounts of high proof alcohol. And that would be a waste, because I keep it stored in my desk drawer strictly for celebratory purposes.
As bad luck would have it, I'm wandering around the FiDi yesterday and BAM! I bump into my ex-boyfriend. (Okay, so it was less of a bump and more of a "pleasedontseemepleasedontseeme" dart-out-of-the-way-but-not-fast-enough move.)
Note:
I wasn't wearing any makeup
I hadn't lost fifteen pounds or the chip on my shoulder - both things I wanted to rid myself of before bumping into him on the street.
Anyway, my 5'10" Amazon figure doesn't fly under the radar very easily, so he spotted me and we exchanged pleasantries. His lunch destination was Bistro Burger and even though I'm not eating solid food for awhile, I agreed to sit with him and drink water.
Bistro Burger's service is extremely fast! The cashiers are friendly. They assign you a number and it's quickly called... What more can you ask for?
I was thankful that the portions were large, because his attention was focused on the burger & curly fries - which took some of the pressure off me.
Until he noticed that my bangs are darker than the rest of my hair.
Ex: You have a color mullet
Me: I do not.
Ex: Yes, you do. Your bangs are black and the rest of your hair is reddish.
So I sat there feeling like a trailer park kid who had just been spotted wearing the same shirt three weeks in a row.
He changed the subject.
Ex: Why haven't you called?
Me: I deleted your number from my phone.
Ex: Ouch. Why did you do that?
Me: So I wouldn't call you.
Score = Ex: 1; Janney: 1
Digs aside, it was nice bumping into him and stealing three delicious curly fries. Again, I'm glad the portions are huge, because that gives less time for awkward pauses with your dining companion.
Bistro Burger helped show that sometimes things, no matter how nice the people are, just weren't meant to be.
Besides, my legal first name is Jeri and his last name is Garcia.
Do you think I'd want to explain that everytime I got carded?

Great tasting burgers, good salad selection, nice employees, and heavenly Dreyers shakes. My favorite combo is the Royale Burger w/bleu cheese and the onion rings with their infamous Neiman Ranch sauce. That combo is deadly and worth every bite!

GREAT BURGERS. The first time I went there I just ordered the original Bistro Burger and it was amazing and filled me up for $6. The next time I got the Paris Turkey Burger and it was even better. Tried to go healthy with the turkey, but the brie and sauteed mushrooms probably more than made up for the calories saved...

The people at this Bistro burger location deserve 5 stars, but this isn't my favorite burger. I would give the food 3.7 stars. It's tasty enough, but I'm not impressed by the taste of the bun, and find the fries heavy and torpid.

Even though it's no In-n-Out, Bistro Burger can still be the perfect place for breakfast or lunch, dine in or carry out. Their breakfast burritos are delish and reasonably priced. Their veggie burgers are quite good as well, the California veggie is a personal favorite. And the curly fries are really yum!
Burger Heaven, a close comp in New York, has nothing on Bistro Burger!

Definitely not a great burger, but it's pretty decent. The fries are pretty good too. A large order of fries/onions rings, is GInormous! The only thing that stos me from coming here more often (aside from me not needing to eat a burger everyday), are their prices. I mean, over $10 for a burger, fries and a drink. Hmm... I've had better at Carl's, In-n-Out etc.
But if you are craving a burger and are in the area, it does the trick. I actually prefer their chicken sandwiches. The Cajun one being my fav.
P.S. They have pretty tasty salads as well!

the burgers are good (ive tried the bacon double cheeseburger, cali burger, and the paris burger) but the fries are a bit lack luster for their price..
i love how the condiments are all laid out in a corner rack... none of that 25 cents for a side of bbq sauce like at fast food buger joints... you can grab what u want and dont grab what u dont..
my coworkers always get salads.. and they seem to love em.. and say theres always more than enough to satisfy them..
the servers are pleasant and the food is ready pretty quick..

I think Bistro Burger does a decent job of making tasty burgers. While I wouldn't call them amazing, I will say that they are perfect during your work lunch hour or for a catered office lunch. The burgers are pretty flavorful and there's enough variety on the menu to please anyone - even for those that don't eat beef. The fries are good and the onion rings are a bit better than average...I'd recommend the curly fries since they are different and have a good amount of flavor. I think the big surprise are the milkshakes - they are actually really good...they use real ice cream (Dreyer's) and they always turn-out being perfect. I wouldn't necessarily make Bistro Burger a destination, but I think it's a great option if you happen to be in the Financial District or if you happen to be in the Westfield Centre. Definitely have a shake!
I've stopped in this particular location before to have breakfast. It seems the morning business for this establishment isn't as busy as it should be around the 7:00 am+ hour. It's right across from a name brand hotel and should be much busier. Though the Starbucks a few doors down is doing phenominal.
I noticed that when I use my Credit Card, the receipt comes out as a "Cash" sale. When I brought it to the attention of the clerk, she said the business will process it later as a credit. This sounds fishy to me, I didn't have to sign anything to process it as credit.
The food comes out cold unfortunately. The Cook processes it and at times the clerk gets so busy when alone that the meal will sit there a few minutes before delivered to the customer.
I noticed a gnat flying around my table several times today and before, seems it likes where it's at and flutters around the plate of food.
There was no Ketchup on the meal table. Only one I noticed through-out the seating area was available.
With my adverstising and marketing background, I don't think the company is doing enough to reach out to patrons. If the establishment is a perfect or close to perfect one, it will draw patrons regardless.
This is the most undiscovered Bistro Burger location. The thing I like about this one is that I can almost always find a seat (or did I just ruin that by posting this review?) and the crowd is usually a little less intense (esp. less intense than the folks at the Bush/Trinity location - oy!)
Yeah, it's a burger joint, but the people are very nice, and they make a tasty burger. My favorite is the California burger (sub turkey burger) with no jack cheese (gets in the way of the avocado!). Plus, they have CURLY FRIES! C'mon. The chicken sandwiches are good, too.
And they really do cook your burger to order - if you say "rare," you can actually detect a bit of moo when it gets delivered.
Props to Bistro Burger. At any location! The price is a little bit more than you might expect, but the quality of stuff makes it worth it!

i come here when i want to grab a quick lunch. my usual is a 1/2 order chicken cesear salad. a bit overpriced for some chopped up lettuce but the buttery croutons and dressing are yummy. perfectly dressed and not soggy.
Yes, this is a burger joint... but allow me to enlighten y'all about their breakfast menu:
I am ADDICTED to the breakfast burritos here. These delectable bundles of joy - served up with a warm flour tortilla filled with egg, spicy potatoes, salsa, cheese and BACON (mmmm....bacon...) have become such a regular staple in my diet (or to be more correct: LACK OF a diet) that I make it a point to have one AT LEAST once a week. Usually it's on what I like to call "Burrito Mondays" or "Burrito Tuesdays." It's just the thing that relieves my dismay of having to be back at work week after week, weekend after weekend... A dismay which still lingers around even after several cops of coffee and chanting my Morning Mantra "work = $$$ = more shoes... work = $$$ = more shoes!"
Even more so... if I don't have one on a weekly basis, you may very well find me going into convulsions from withdrawal by the end of the week. So if anyone has the phone number for either Burritos Anonymous and/or a good therapist... PM me!
P.S. Breakfast is served until 10 am.

With places like Custom Burger and Brickhouse, you get spoiled with quality meats, sauces and choices. While Bistro has a fair amount of different burgers and chicken sandwiches, they lack condiment choices, frozen to fryer-style fries, and tend to over cook their meat. I will say that you can't go too wrong with the chicken, mushroom and brie combo which I believe they call the French.

There's smoke on Drumm Street, and where there's smoke there's ... Bistro Burger.
At least this one still has the smoke. It's been here a couple of years, and today I finally decided to check it out. It was full of loyal customers, wall to wall, but the service was fast. $10.29 bought me a real hamburger, unimpressive fries, and a diet Coke. Then there was the tip to clear the table.
Seriously, I was wishing I had gone to Burger Gourmet, where I can get a better hamburger, better fries, and the same Coke for $2 less.
On the up side, I ran into one of my favorite Yelpers, and we had a little catch-up conversation on the sidewalk.

I wasn't entirely blown away by this burger. I had the California burger, with a little extra avocado, and I really don't see what makes this one any different from your average restaurant burger. The bun was slightly overtoasted, which was fine, except that it was a flimsy bun to begin with, which I really hate. As I consumed my burger, my grip on the bun flattened it and made it increasingly difficult to hold without spilling on myself. The patty was rather dry, and tasted like they had put a lot of pepper in it to counter the dryness, which actually worked. It gave the burger a subtle, spicy taste, but it would have been much better if the burger was moist. Truth be told I ordered it well-done, but does well-done also have to mean dry? I don't see why. A major plus for me was that the cheese slice was thick, and melty, and covered the whole patty so there was ample cheese for the duration of the cheeseburger experience. There was no "special sauce" or anything to add a distinct flavor; the most distinct flavor I tasted was the pepper in the patty. I tend to like my burger patties a little sweet (sometimes I'll put a pinch of sugar in if I am making them), and Bistro Burger was just not that kind of burger. I like burgers that are juicy, a little sweet and savory at the same time (like how BBQ sauce is), with melty cheese and extra crispy lettuce, and Bistro Burger did not satisfy my burger requirements, but for the cheese. It was a decent meal, but only comparable to what you would get at any restaurant that has a burger on the menu. I would go back, but not if I was craving a real burger. I think Carl's Jr. would better satisy me.

I believe this is one of the best $6 burgers out in this area. yes, I'v had cheaper and better burger, at what I like is that they don't burn your burger so you get that "smoky" taste. The meat is well marinated, and there is enough cheese in the burger.
I will be back for more and more and more. I just love the meat. I can eat the patty everyday.
Went for lunch for a quick munch
It's on the pricey, but if it's close and you want quick service with a place to sit during lunch this is a decent place to go.
From the few times I've been here the food has consistently been o.k. If the burger is only decent then throw some bacon on it. Having a bad day? Throw some bacon on it.

Decent burgers and tasty fries. I've had a couple of incidences where the meat felt as if it had been handled too much, it was too smooooth. But overall it's very good and convenient for the FiDi grease fest.
Had high expectations of the Paris Burger (with brie & sauteed mushrooms) - doesn't that sound divine?? I immediately had visions of being in France again, soaking the culture and refinement that only Europe can offer...looking effortlessly tres chic, in ballet flats, black leggings and a loosely fitting top that somehow made me look gorgeous & model thin and... ok, anyway you get the point. For having a name hinting at french inspired cuisine, it was sadly quite bland. Tasted like I was in Boring, Oregon. No offense, Oregonians. The California Veggie Burger was actually not bad - I tried to pace myself as we had ordered fries, curly fries AND onion rings, but it had avocados in it and that's literally a green light to scarf down for me.
The aforementioned fried goods saved the day otherwise. Since we ordered so much of it, it saved my next day too.

I was looking for a decent and cheap place to eat. I had just left an interview and wanted to escape the lunch time crowds. I finally decided on this place after wandering the Financial District a bit.
I managed to sneak into the place right ahead of the lunch-time crowds. Decided on a "Cheesburger Royale" and fries. (Why aren't there fries included with the meal? WHY?!?) The cashier was really sweet and did not make fun of me when I couldn't get "small order of fries" out of my mouth. Asked me if I wanted anything to drink but I declined. I considered a chocolate milkshake, but somewhat reluctantly decided against it. ($4.29 for a shake is a bit much!)
Unfortunately I had to take BART to go back to my current internship and I did not want to risk a mess overly clothes--nor did I want a melted milkshake or be filled up on a milkshake to end up not eating my burger!
The food came out in decent time, perhaps 5 minutes. I became a little antsy because I wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait for BART. However, a woman who ordered around the same time I did (not sure if she was before or after me) got a chocolate milkshake after I got my order. It would have made a little more sense for someone to just make the shake and bring it out, since it's only one item that doesn't need much cooking/prep time.
The place was clean and it soon filled with business types who wanted a quick lunch. However, I noticed that despite the lunch hour approach, they still only had one register open, which seems rather silly.
After I picked up my food I scooted over to BART. Out of respect for BART's policies of keeping the place clean, I waited till I got to my internship to eat. I have to say, I wasn't impressed. Although this place remembered the onions (last time I ordered from Bistro Burger they forgot...), there was no ketchup on the burger or with the fries. There were no packets included. I think I missed them prior to leaving, but still. No ketchup?
The burger wasn't bad. However, the cheese was like plastic. It wasn't melted at all. I don't know if it was left over cheese from the night before or they hadn't heated the burger enough to melt it. I could literally pick it out of the burger and it would remain as a slice. I have yet to feel any afteraffects, but we'll see. The fries were good enough, not too salty and not too soggy even though they had been in a styrofoam container for about 45 minutes.
I would like to give them a higher score, but the fact that my cheese on my CHEESBURGER wasn't melted is silly, to say the least.

Umm. This place is o-kayyy. I've had bugers that were abundantly more flavorful in my day, but I give Bistro Burger props for not letting the bun become soggy. Soggy bread seems to turn me into a whinny 5 year old girl on the inside which isn't cute. They were able to keep the meat juicy and the bun from not turning into mush. Due to the lack of flavor, Bistro only gets 3 stars from me. The fries are good and decently sized, but who really comes to a place like this just for the fries? It's all about the burger. And the burger, my friends, was just not up to par.
I have finally given in to getting a burger from here. After hearing the great things from my co-workers and smelling there food.
Since this was my 1st time i decided to go big. I decided on the bacon royal with Gorgonzola cheese w/side of curly fries. As soon as i step back in the office with my order i started to hear the comments on how something smells so good. It did but it tasted even better. I savored every bite of this sinful pleasure. I took 1 star away due to the fries being really greasy/soggy oppose to crispy the way i like them.
the service was fast and friendly. The place was very clean and i would consider eating my food there next time instead of getting it to go like last time. I would suggest hitting this place @t the latter part of the lunch rush is it gets very busy and I dint see it being comfortable when it's crowded.

So, I'm a quasi-vegetarian (don't ask me to define myself though, I don't like to put restraints on my "me-ness"). Bistro Burger has fully satisfied my desire for AMAZING garden burgers.
My favorite so far has brie and grilled mushrooms (sometimes I substitute grilled onions- crazy, I know). It was so good that I keep ordering that one even though there are 8 other veggie burgers on the menu that all look kickass.
I really can't vouch for their DAF (that's dead animal flesh for you cow-mongers). That red meat stuff is grody - yeah, it's so gross I'm bringing back the 7th grade "grody". Their actual burgers may suck, but I really couldn't tell ya. Do you really want to know anyway? Eww. DAF. Eww.

Now I know where to go to when I have a massive craving for burgers instead of the regular fast food joint, because I figure, if I must be unhealthy, I should at least do it with quality unhealthy food! And at $7 a pop, this better be a quality burger!
After mornings after mornings of strolling by this innocent looking shop, I finally caved in and had a pepperjack and sauteed mushroom nieman ranch burger. It was definitely perfectly prepared... so juicy!! Got a small side of frings, doused it in ranch and effectively exceeded my allocated calorie intake for the day.
Again, another Restaurant in this part of FiDi that disappoints me....They try to make you believe that by using "Bistro Burger" that the burgers are so different...Truth be known, this place is not much different at all..Although the prices aren't that bad, the "Bistro Burger" is nothing to write home about. I would have given it 3 stars butI took one star out for the reason that they've forgotten to add bacon to my California Burger...TWICE....(second time I checked on my way out, and told them they forgot again...so they took care of it). If you're wondering abou this place, you'll save a buck walking down Drumm St a little further and making a left on Sacramento to see that little burger joint next to La Foccaccia...Burgers are the same as Bistro's But cheaper.

When I got my bacon burger, I realise that they charged me more than the menu stated. Sure, the difference was only fifty cents, but I asked the server about it anyway. After asking the manager, she told me that they raised the price of that sandwich but hadn't yet changed the menu. I'm no expert here, but I believe the technical term for that move is "bait and switch." The girl told me that the manager was sorry- oh well.
The burgers themselves are pretty good, and cooked well. The patties taste pre-seasoned, which is a taste I can't enjoy more than once a month. This place is pretty darn expensive, though. Some of the reviewers claim otherwise, but that must be relative. IMO, $12 for a burger, fries and drink is a little excessive.
Best burgers in the Financial District. Fast service or you can call in your order and pick it up, you can substitute the fries with a salad (even if it is very hard to do) ahhhh! fries bad salad good fries bad salad good!! brain wash yourself ;). If I do not go for a good old fashion neiman ranch beef burger my choice is the Ahi burger with no bun and salad. Yum in the tum.
I had (or tried to have ) breakfast here 2 times. Each time I ordered a burger. I thought....a burger joint open at 7:00 in the morning...coo.
The first time was real pleasant and friendly and fast. The food was prepared well and tasted great to me. The ingredients were fresh and the bread was soft. Side of curly fries were generous (small looked like a large to me....the large must be freaking huge).
The second time...ungh...
I get there at the same time....I finally pick the California Burger w/ side of curly fries...so I go to the counter. Two people see me. I wait....and wait.....and wait. So when someone finally decides they can spare a minute. Someone comes over. I try to order up but am told that they are only serving breakfast....."what?!? I came here yesterday and ordered the Bistro Burger at the same time!" Not wanting to argue this early in the morning....I just say. "Never mind." and walked out.
Overall I recomend Bistro Burger for the food....the service is hit or miss. Good service on Wednesday.....crappy service on Thursday.

I was going to give this place 4 stars but I'll explain why in just a moment. The measure of a good burger for me is when you eat it at its simplest. I actually like a lunchtime burger as a reasonably healthy indulgence. Healthy? But how? I go with the most basic burger, no cheese, no mayo, no ketchup, just meat, bun, yellow mustard, lettuce, pickles and tomato. This place definitely gets points for asking me how I would like my burger cooked, I asked for medium and if I were to be a bit nit picky I think I got mine a tad over medium but hey ho. The burger itself was well flavoured and required very little added salt to bring it to life, I've resigned myself to never getting a properly seasoned meal in this state and my blood pressure remains "excellent" even though I have a sodium intake that would make most Californians faint. For $6 the meat was good, the bun fresh and tasty and the condiments well judged.
I also chose the side salad because you know i'm 5'9" and 180lbs so I really shouldn't be eating french fries on a school night and that is where the fourth star went by the wayside. First off, what lunatic thought that red kidney beans belong in a green salad? I hate, repeat hate red kidney beans with a passion that is only equalled by my disgust for Jazz music so to find them not only present but unadvertised as an ingredient was a shock to the system I did not see coming. The little red bastard was wedged in between a lettuce leaf and crept up on me as I was navigating my way through the tasteless raw mushrooms (note to chef, if you are going to put raw mushrooms in my side salad, please have the decency to choose one with flavour) and almost had me gagging.
Perhaps when I am 165lbs i'll have a bacon cheese burger. How exciting!
This newest location of the downtown burger joint is by far my favorite. I think it's the one that feels the most like a bistro; it's intimate with a lovely windowed front, and all new and shiny. I think the quality of the staff and service at this one is much better than the 333 Bush location, and everything I've had here is decent. I recommend the California veggie burger or the apple/walnut salad. They do a good breakfast burrito, too.
