hands down, the best menudo i've had in the city! intensely bright red broth with chunks of tripe and on the bone cow's hoof. the meat is melt in your mouth tender. they obviously simmer this shit for hours. an order comes with diced onions, chopped cilantro, green hot sauce, oregano and fresh warm corn tortillas. they only serve menudo on saturdays and sundays.

the place is super clean and alejandro is a smiling, friendly guy.

the best part...mis antojitos is a block from the crib.

I've been here four times and i didn't like it at first. The prices were a bit high and the portions were small. Also, there are so many great places just a few blocks from here (Los Jarritos, El Metate).

However, the food is really good.  The service is great and i love the internet juke box. Pay $1 and play any song you want. I like to pick long songs so i can get my money's worth :)  (Television's Marquee Moon anyone?).   After blowing out patrons' ears with Gang of Four's Anthrax, i like to pick mellow stuff now like New Order and Enya.

I had the Juevos Rancheros, which wasn't on the menu, but they made for me anyways. The carnitas are good and the Chillaquiles are damn good!

I saw a whole fried fish dish go to another table, not really my bag, but i'm sure some other people like to eat an entire fish fried.

Can anyone explain if the taco truck outside is affiliated with the restaurant?

I recommend the carne asada specifically because it comes with a well-prepared nopal cactus on top. Service is quick and courteous, but not smarmy (I'll always take simple courtesy over smarm).

The missing 5th star is only due to the prices.

I think they may be trying to make up for the limitations to market share they believe are location-dictated by basically turning isolation to their advantage and treating the neighbors (um... me) as an almost captive market.

They clearly have the staff and facilities to produce more units than I see them producing, so I wonder why they bother to stick their few customers with these sunk costs rather than drawing more demand by lowering their prices and increasing market share at the same net revenue.

Every time I buy something there, I can't help feeling like a big chunk of what I'm paying for is an empty restaurant with employees hanging around in it, waiting to prepare things no one will buy because they get the same feeling I get every time they buy there.

The food is good enough that I feel it's fair I should help them with the exposure end of the supply/demand formula, though. That's why I'm asking you to try them just once, with the advanced assumption that you may find it over-priced... then post your own review.

Best fish tacos in the mission, hands down.  Good ceviche and yummy shrimp cocktail.  I will be back.  Went on a fluke, and forever glad I did!

Love this place!  I used their catering services for an event I threw and the food was a hit amongst everyone that came.   The restaurant itself is charming.  Great location - plenty of street parking.  Everything I had was fantastic -  ceviche tostadas (at a great reasonable price), los Sopes, el taco de Pescado.  I ordered two appetizers for myself and was pretty full after eating just one.  Yo recomendo este lugar!

Oh what a shame.  This restaurant is a block from my house and I loves the Mexican.  But the food is lousy and the prices are too high, and the service isn't great either, despite the fact that you'll be the only one there, which tells you pretty much all you need to know.  I think I had quesadillas and fish tacos and both were pretty bad; tacos were burnt, lettuce was cheap and tasteless, quesadilla was like $4 for something I make better myself at home.

I'm a veg, so maybe that affects things, but this place has nothing really going for it.

There's an El Tonayese Taco truck out front of the place (I cannot explain that, seems like a business killer) Faster, cheaper, better.  Go there.

deee-licious!  learned about this place because my favorite (elusive) taco truck, San Buena, was parked out front and my friend spotted it...  first we went just to have tacos (the truck and restaurants are affiliated) and while inside buying drinks we saw someone with a plate of shrimp goodness...so we had the shrimp fajitas after we each had 3 tacos from the truck (all great,  pollo (not pollo asado), carnitas and the YUMMIEST al pastor)...  shrimp fajitas came on a sizzling iron platter seasoned perfectly peppers, onions, fresh cilantro and even had some shredded cheese on top... the flavors were perfect!

My next visit it was to try the chilaquiles - they have it with shredded chicken and with egg...  both fantastic - the real star was the sauce coated chips... there was something extra savory about the red sauce that made the chips flavorful and crunchy and not soggy like chilaquiles can sometimes be...  They also serve beer and have a tv w/ sports on... I don't live near there but I can't wait to go back!

so heres the run down...

best freakin' chilaqules i've tasted in the longest time, but only on sundays!

they do to go orders which is super convenient considering i live about 80 yards from the entrance and can call my order in and eat in the comfort of my own home while chillin' in my boxers!

super cutie waitress that works there and is way easy on the eyes!

not as expensive as others have reported/reviewed.

there is a taco truck, yes an actual taco truck, not a "roach coach" that sells a bunch of bullshit!  this is a rarity for me here in the bay area.  i'm originally form the central valley and taco trucks run house!!!

handmade tortillas de maize... fuck yeah!!!!

they have a bar!!!!

once again... support local businesses!!!!

p.s.
the taco truck raised their prices after they started to blow up so fuck them... boycott!!!!

Huge portion sizes here partially compensate for the higher-than-normal prices -- it's a little ways away Mission and so has less competition than those places (except for the aforementioned taco truck).

The service is OK but yes, as in Spain, you need to chase your server down for the check.  The fact that this is a Mexican place and not a Spanish one makes that a bit of a non-sequitur.

Mis Antojitos means "my little cravings".  I went here for the first time tonight.  It just opened up about a block from my house.  This place went through about 3 transformations in the last 3 years.  From some type of coffee place to a Spanish place which really never took off.  They then were smart and decided, hey, we're in the Mission where all the Mexican restaurants are, lets open one up.  So when I entered, I said "one".  She didn't know what I mean by 1 person, obviously you don't need to wait to be seated.  The chips and Salsa were just OK.  It came with the red salsa, pretty spicy but nothing out of the ordinary.  I ordered the Carne Asada.  It was very tasty.  Seasoned just right, tender and not too fatty.  It came with some rice and beans and some salad which I guess was just for decoration.  Just enough food.  I'd recommend it if you live in the area but so far it doesn't seem like a special place to hit if you don't live around here.  I'm going to go again to try some more dishes, so I'll update you as I try more.  So far, 3 stars.  I had to go here quicky just so I can be the "first" to review.  Weee!
