I work right across the street! Anyway, I like coming here for events and what not. Working as a model, this place definitely gets used for alot of events, I just finished a hair show for West Coast Beauty Spring Style. Nothing much to say about this place, but ... the people that actually work FOR the convention center itself is kind of mean. They're just rude like that. Some of the people that usher u to where u need to go are nice, but the women are like... angry old ladies. Missing one star because of the attitude problem.
This sums it up for me: In February 2008, Hillary Clinton came to town and gave a stump speech at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center South (i.e., the permanent portable structure just south of the permanent-non-portable structure). As the applause died down and she prepared to speak, her opening line was, "Thank you, it is really a pleasure to be here in San Jose in this big ... ah ... tent." The crowd laughed.
Dawn's review says it all regarding the "amenities" of the conference center. For "lunch" on the last day of a recent conference they served us...soft pretzels with mustard and ice cream bars. Wow.
The WiFi area (I assume this is available at most conferences) is horrible - slow service and tables that were too high for me. I looked like a little kid trying to reach the table. And I'm short, but not that short, dammit.
Like every air-conditioned building in the world, this one was too cold, consistently. I wanted a blanket at times, and this was when it was 80+ degrees outside. Chilled to the bone, I would walk outside and be totally comfortable for 15 minutes until my body adjusted to the sweltering heat.

Not a wonderful conference facility. The wireless is spotty, and I don't know if it's the conferences I attend or this conference center, but the refreshments are always fairly weak and there's never water available unless you pay the kiosks or vending machine exorbitant amounts of money. The restrooms are never really spotless, and a bit awkward layout for when there are line-ups. Out of all the conference centers I've been to (tech industry, so quite a few), this is definitely my least-favorite. But then... it's just a conference center so I wouldn't take this too seriously :)
