Fairly decent bar, given all. Good selection of beer; I had a pint of Woodpecker that was rather good. And at $5.50, it was well priced. The waitresses and bartenders seemed nice enough.

We sat downstairs where the music wasn't nearly that loud, so talking to my friends was easy to do. The big complaints of the night were that the music they were playing was awful, and that the bathrooms were gross.

A cool bar if you in the mood for something different.  A curiously entertaining medieval castle/dungeon/werewolves theme.  A bit small but this gives it a cozy feel.

Bartenders were very pleasant.  Food was decent...I had the ol' standby burger and fries and was not disappointed.   Beer selection is outstanding...with about 6-8 brews on draft, and a few dozen bottled brews to choose from including some hard-to-find imports.   Can be mildly pricey, but really not that bad for the west village.   You can be damn sure I will visit here again.

I think the Slaughtered Lamb is pretty lame. We popped over here after being completely unable to move or breathe at happy hour at Blind Tiger Ale House down the block. It was nice that Slaughtered Lamb wasn't too crowded, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about the experience. The drinks were $7 a piece, and weren't that strong. The food was pretty gross. The warewolf/skeleton thing was reflective of the fact that it's owned by the equally lame Jekel and Hyde. And, to top it off, the service was slow and inattentive and the bartenders were bitches. I won't be heading back any time soon.

It's not the most inviting bar in town, but it's a pretty cool place. The front's a bit cramped, but there's a room in back with better seating, and the bartenders and waiters are nice. It's a good place to go after work for a couple of drinks.

The place has an odd dungeon-style decor, which can be a hit-or-miss for some people. Otherwise if you can ignore the skeletons chained to the walls, it's a fun place to be. :) If you come in with a large group, you can probably get them to open up the "official dungeon" downstairs, which is just a big room with more morbid wall hangings.

The bathrooms are TINY though (often with about 3 squares of TP left, so bring some tissues), and there's usually a long line for them in the corner with no room to stand.

Hilariously kitschy. There's an enormous, dusty, rotating werewolf eternally biting a tired-looking maiden in an eighties-ish peasant dress. What more could I want?

I was surprised that a place like this exists where it does.  Dives, sure, but a strange theme dive? In the West Village? Okay!

I'm not sure if there's any compelling reason for me to go back, but I had a good enough time.  Nice beer selection.

I will say, though, that last call happened surprisingly early-- 12.45 or so. Maybe that's normal, and I just don't know anything.   Also-- the waitstaff was getting a little rowdy...and therefore inattentive....except to the music that was playing.  Which they kept switching, mid-song. Sue me, but I WANT to hear "Closing Time!" (Who doesn't? Come on, don't lie.)

More beer than I can shake my fist at and a decent amount of people after my shift on the weekends, from 2:30 to closing.

Also, since I understand the biz, I think we're in no position to say "The bartender was great, she'll hook you up" People get sick , they have rotating shifts, they may be in one saturday and out the other, anyway. I hope I see the bartender this coming weekend (after Labour Day) and maybe her barfly will be there to recommend another great beer, which in this situation was Chimay Blue.

This bar IS the bar from the movie, American Werewolf in Paris or whichever movie. Go down to the cellar and you'll see the exact same scene that  was in the movie, or so I was told. Really, this place is where you go to DRINK and DRINK some more. Quit whining, order a DRINK and then have fun.

If you like your bars themed with imitation dungeons, Slaughtered Lamb might be your place.

Dead-smack in the center of the West 4th Village bar scene, this place helps carry on the typical atmosphere you'll find anywhere in the area (loud and rowdy), though, if you're willing to forgo the first floor bar, the dungeon can actually be a bit sane and cozy (aside from the skeleton they're hiding under the stairwell).

Of note, they possibly have one of the widest bottled beer selections in the city, and ironically, $6 Hoegaerdens are one of the cheaper Hoegaardens found in the city.

It deserves a Three-Star just for being named the Slaughtered Lamb.  I'm not sure if they are actually named after the pub in American Werewolf in London, but either way, they get some marks for that.

As for the decor, ambiance, clientele, drinks, prices, and what not, ummm, it's simply just another pub, chugging along mostly - probably - because they happen to be in an area where people goto drink.

Good for Happy Hour .5-price or 2-for-1 deals before you move-on to a better place for food/drinks, though, while paying some homage to John Landis.

In the dining room area, there are two mannequin.  One is dressed as a werewolf.  The other is dressed as a bride.  The werewolf is sucking the neck of the bride.  Supposedly, they are married and she can't wait to be his bride.  It says so on a piece of paper taped to the front of the glass holding the mannequins.

I stared at the mannequins for awhile.  I pondered their existence.  The glassy, distant, dead look in their eyes....was it a mirror of my own life?  Are the choices I'm making in my life leading me to become a fake immitation of a real human being? Am I destined to become a werewolf ?  Or am I going to be a bride?  And why am I thinking about this? I wonder if you can make ice cream out of bacon? ...And I pondered many more things because I had what felt like an eternity waiting for service.

One waitress for the entire bar, dining room, and the cafe is not enough. The fact that she only had 3 tables and still managed to vanish through the majority of the evening did not make me a happy camper. If it took any longer to get my initial beer order, I would have joined those two mannequins as Pepe, the helpful pool boy.

A pool boy to a werewolf.  That's a made for tv movie waiting to happen.

Quaint little hetero-heavy pub in West Village, almost weird, but interesting decor, a little rustic and dark/Gothic, almost morbid I'd say. They serve Hoegaarden, bottled, which is always a plus. The have this dingy basement with plenty of seating, probably great for a low-key birthday celebration with friends or to catch up with a friend on a Friday night. Doesn't seem like it gets too packed, and the music is not deafening so one can actually sit and chit chat without screaming ones lungs out. Oh, and one has to mention this... The bouncer was CUTEEEEEEEEEEEE and so nice.

Wikipedia reveals that the US version of a black-and-tan involves pouring Guinness gently over a spoon so that it sits atop the Bass and doesn't mix, while the UK version involves mixing them intentionally from the tap. This is the first place in the US I noticed them doing it the US way, and what a good pint it was! Who cares if their bathrooms are the size of a small coffin, the Slaughtered Lamb is okay by me as long as they keep the drinks coming.

So I had some friends in from out of town who were recording an album here for a few months and happened to live, oh, a block away from the Slaughtered Lamb, so I ended up frequenting it a lot.

As far as the ambience goes, yeah, the whole werewolf theme is a little trite but if you can get a table in the back and it's not too crowded it's actually a pretty nice place to hang out. The drinks aren't cheap, but it seems like $5.50 a pint is pretty standard for that area and I didn't find the waitresses to be nearly as incompetent as they were, well, drunk.

My friend Dylan says the Four-Faced Liar across the street is way cooler, so maybe I'll go there next time I'm out. Then again, it'd probably just be cheaper to pick up a six-pack, rent Teen Wolf and call it a night.

The horror decor is a cute, kitschy change of pace. Everytime I sit in the basement, I feel like I've been transported to like 19th century England or something.  It feels aged and divey and somehow is really set apart from the rest of the string of somewhat forgettable forced dive vibe bars in the area. I gueeeesss its a little cheesy, but whatever. I like it.

The drinks are pretty cheap, from what  I remember.  The selection of beers was pretty good too.  This place is good for groups - plenty of table seating in the basement, if you want to be a little farther from the more crowded, often NYU filled top floor. Service is good, and its centrally located for those nights when one bar stop is juuuust not enough.

This is a dive bar and possibly my favorite of the night. Like Jekyll & Hyde, I felt like I was in a kitschy reenactment of a Pirates of the Caribbean scene with odd skeleton decor. But at this place I talked to a dude named Gus about where I should go to explore in New York. Go here with friends and make it your own...it was pretty sparsely populated and easy to have a conversation. Oh, and no TVs, which I like in my pubs.

I should hate this place. I know I should.

The bathrooms, even for a bar, are awful. The service is lousy. The drinks are overpriced.

But the food is delightfully unhealthy- either fried foods or pub staples- and while it's unimaginative it goes well with beer. The decor is odd, but I'm a sucker for wood panelling and I'm pretty good at ignoring that this is supposed to be a theme place. The clientele isn't so great, but my friends and I usually go late enough so that we just want a drink and don't really care.

I like most of the beer they have there, and I always have fun times with friends.

I know I should hate this place, but I can't help but like it.

Once upon a time, I was underage with a fake ID and not too picky about what bars to go to. The criteria was that I could just get in. However, if you are easily frightened and do not like horror movies, you will not like this place. It feels like a dungeon. Goth settings. If memory serves me correctly, circa 2000, this bar had a jail cell with taxodermied animal with fake blood in it. Gross. Underage girl ran, not walked out of the place, and hence lived happily ever after.

Pretty much what you might expect from a place with such a name.  The bathrooms are tiny and barely functioning and the place seems as old as the dirt in the corners. . .but it has a great London pub feel and lots of beers available. We went in twice and never had trouble getting a table. The staff weren't always strong on the "service" part of service - but I didn't really expect them to be either. Prices seemed about average for this area.

If you are really into werewolves, then this might be the bar for you.  Of course, if you are into werewolves, then you may too busy eating microwave nachos and watching Underworld 2 in your parent's basement to make it out to this bar.

I didn't eat here, but as a bar this place is forgettable. The men's and women's restrooms are ingeniously placed right alongside each other in the corner of the room -- so that both doors can't be opened at the same time.  If they are, they smack into one another, and then one person can't get out.  But you and your restroom partner can laugh about it afterwards, and then maybe you can talk about werewolves.

Let me just say, I don't have anything against werewolves, or people who like werewolves.  I just don't think you need to build a bar around them.

Note:  No werewolves were harmed in the making of this review.

While on a 6 hr layover, some friends came into the city. Since we were on West 4th, knew we'd be able to find some place. It's unfortunate that this was the first place we found. I figured, "It's a pub, so we can get quick drinks and burgers." Wrong.
We sat outside, and I guess for our waitress she holds tight to cliches, as "Out of sight, out of drinks and food" was her rutine. We also didn't understand the corset she was wearing, and why a pub waitress would be so on "display."

I Yelped this place AFTER the fact to find out it's a themed pub, with costumed waitresses, and lukewarm reviews.

While approaching this place you could notice the sign with the werewolf howling at the moon and think, "cool, kitchy English-style dive bar, must check it out." Inside they most likely will pour you a fine pint, but you'll soon realize that kitchy quickly devolves into, as others have noted, Jeckyll and Hyde Disney-esque annoyance. I'd say skip it unless you're in the area and feeling a little masochistic.

This place is misery-inducing, but maybe that's the point.  The Slaughtered Lamb can't make up its mind if its decor is faux English pub kitcsh or K-Mart Halloween kitsch.  Either way, expect lax and surly (even by New York standards) service, overpriced and over-greased pub food, and bathrooms so small that even women have to stand up to pee.

Incidentally, I didn't realize the wait staff were costumed.  I just figured they had wandered over from St. Marks.

Didn't eat here, but hung out downstairs in the "dungeon" last night for a few hours.  Drinks were ok, standard price for the area.  They do have a massive selection of specialty beers, which was nice.  The cocktail service was attentive and friendly.  And I'm sorry, but the imprisoned fake skeletons everywhere are hilarious.  Very London-Dungeoney and silly and fun.  But honestly, what I liked most of all - that a table for 10 people was available at 8pm on a Saturday night in the West Village.  Not an easy task finding such a place.

Oh and the bathrooms are terrible.  And you'd think the goth-theme would attract some actual goths, instead of your average frat-types, but not the case....there's a bar in London called The Intrepid Fox that reminds me a bit of this place visually, but the crowd is actually all into their fetish/metal/goth thing....therefore a very different experience.

For some reason I came here with a bunch of my grad school friends.  We easily found a table on the right side in the back by the window.  So far so good.  Then I looked up and noticed the fake wolf that was slicing open some poor fake female mannequin's throat...or something like that.  Things like that you just can't stop staring at.  From there on I noticed more creepy decorations.  I give props for the creative Jekyll and Hyde-spin off-like motif, but it's just not my thing.  They have your usual bar food and an extensive beer selection which always gets extra points in my book.  But see if you can convince the bartender like we did to play more happy/enjoyable rock instead of "please werewolf come over here and slice my throat instead of the mannequin's" kinda rock.

This place was funny to go to. I laughed the whole time their. Was it the werewolves theme or the patrons themselves? The bartender was totally awesome, Lots of good conversation even though he was totally busy the whole time. If you walking past at night ,stop by for a second it 's worth it. Nothing to venture out and seek though.

Fun, kitschy place. I like the 'horror' decor and they make a decent chicken fried steak (CFS for the acronym inclined) for New York City. Surprisingly good pasta as well. Props to the name, a fun nod to "American Werewolf in London". (Yes, I did just say "props" and I apologize).

An  old Village staple to me.  I used to end up here at the end of the night, but not sure why.  More low key with haunted house elements without getting the vibe they're trying to hard with the theme.  Drinks are nice and strong.  You could show up here in Halloween costume in March, no one would care.  Never had the food though, so I can't comment there.

For everybody who knows me - I ABHOR ketchup. This is the place where it all started. 10 years ago, there was a dude on the front porch who mixed beer and ketchup and chugged it and I have never recovered. I think this place is nasty and sinful and some people might love it but I never will.

There are a whole lot of bars on west 4th, and when choosing between them sometimes the most important thing is not the quality of your food, not the subtlety of the microbrew you'll be sipping, and not the glow you'll feel from rubbing elbows with hip clientele.  Sometimes, all you really want is to be able to get a table outside of some bar and swig some Guinness with your pal(s).  Ladies and Gentlemen, this is that Some Bar.
The inside has nothing special about it, except for an old-school Galaga arcade game and a few plastic skeletons strewn around.  There is a fireplace which sometimes has a roaring fire, but I for one don't care about fireplaces unless there are comfortable chairs in front of them, and in this case there are not.  Downstairs there is a "dungeon" available for private parties, which might be a goof if you have a lot of money and your friends are a mixture of people who are big on irony, people who have real bad taste, and people who are alcoholics who don't care where they drink.
In summation, The Slaughtered Lamb is a harmless place to grab a beer.  I'd never set out on a pilgrimage to the Slaughtered Lamb, but I sometimes end up there due to fate and occasionally have a decent time.
