I know something's got a good level of spice when it gives me the sniffles. The thai green chook curry pie was hot and tangy and the crust was yummy (if a little on the hard side). Add a black cherry soda and that's $7 I had no problem parting with.

My sister insisted that I go to this place and try their food and ogle at the hot Aussie man behind the counter.  So I went, with her in toe.  She got a Shepard's pie and I got the lamb pie.  It was awesome.  It's like heaven in a pastry.  The guy behind the counter was too pretty to think about.  I will go back there again and probably try everything.

I always stop here for a beef pie when I've been drinking at D.B.A. Pretty tasty food.  I've never been to Australia, so I can't say how authentic it is, but I hear from those in the know that it is, in fact, quite authentic.

I'm not really bonkers about TimTams, but since this is just about the only place in the city where you can get them, it makes them seem a bit special.

Even if you're not really into meat pies, go and hang out for a bit just for a nice dose of the accent.  ;-)

This is a great, lesser known spot for a quick after-party bite.  One of my favorite spots in the city, the menu is simple but all delicious, and cheap to boot.

They don't always have everything on the menu, but what is available is always great.

Staff has always been friendly, even at 4am on a weekend.

Yum!
That's all one can say about this place if you long for Auzzie meat pies/sausage rolls/lamingtons and of course beer.

Not very much seating, that is kind of annoying.

The woman with the tattoos who works the place is from Wellington New Zealand and is super nice - she gets thumbs up.

Cheap GREAT food. Good Times.

I love it here, it's a perfect place for a savory snack and beer.  The beef pie is so excellent and tasty, with a flavorful and flaky crust, that I can never order another filling, but am determined to on my next visit.
Last time I ran in for some food between drinks at a nearby bar (actually, it was about 8 blocks away, but I couldn't bear to eat a mediocre slice of pizza once I started craving a meat pie), and the place was packed with Aussies chatting and relishing the food of their homeland.  There were cute accents flying around my tipsy head, and I was tempted to ditch my friends and hang out here instead.  I didn't, but took some pies to go and showed my friends what they had missed, thus discovering that they travel quite well, and are the perfect drinky-time food.

This place was cool. I was attracted by the thought of sausage rolls and left having tried a thai chook (chicken) curry pie. It was cheap and a pleasant place to go. The guy working the counter was a downer though; he was pleasant enough but seemed more interested in what was on his laptop than his customers, which is always a downer in my book. I liked the food, the mexican guy making fresh pies in the back, and the fact that we didn't have to wait for an hour to eat at 9pm on a Friday. I prefer British-style sausage rolls from Myers of Keswick on the west side but I will definitely be back to Tuck Shop.

Cozy place + warm pie + good beer = happiness

BBQ Pork comes heaped with really good cole slaw.

Thai Curry had the perfect level of spice to clear my sinuses without burning my tongue.

Also, there was a Scrabble board for the taking, and some people were hanging out in there with a well-behaved border collie chilling on the floor. My kind of place!

everyone should know that a place on 49th between broadway and 8th sells tuck shop pies.  It's called cyber cafe and it's great.  On Wednesdays they have an old french lady making crepes.  Enjoy!

The meat pies were excellent and, bakers take note, the CRUST IS EXCELLENT!!!  The scalloped potatoes well seasoned and delicate.  The mushy peas were properly mushy and also had a nice "kick" to them.
A very thoughtful and friendly tatoo'ed counter lady is there to assist you if you're a first timer.
Boylans Soda to wash it all down.
A place you'll want to go back to again and again!

*Tuck = Savory Pie*

This is one of my favourite food spots in NYC (being of the scruffy unshaven type generally unwelcome at highfalutin chantels with table service).  Veggie Pies = Awesome.  Sausage Rolls = Awesome.  Chicken Curry = Awesome.  Meat Pie = Awesome (when smothered in katsup) Seafood Pie = Supercool, but sometimes gag-inducing (what with the whole baby octopii and whatnot).  They also have a desert that has something to do with dates and cake and is warm and gooey (and awesome).  The staff are ultra-friendly and they also do delivery.

Also, featuring Cooper's beers which are... er... Awesome, supercool , and hard to find in the states.

There's a special kinda joy reserved for walking into a place, having a great accent ask you what you'd like, and be served up your meal on a paper plate with your beer in a cozy.

Sidle up to the bar on your rickety bar stool, contemplate the disturbing possibilities of playing with and eating Cheezels, and marvel at how the television has been transformed into a bulletin board for various kangaroo pictures ripped off of calendars.  Accentuating this experience are great meat pies (love the chook pie) and ice cold beers with friendly service.  Can't think of a better place to grab a leisurely LES bite!

Ta for the dinkum pies and tasty tuck!

Having spent a good number of my childhood summers roaming the streets of New South Wales, the word "pie" means something very different to me. Since moving east I've had to adjust my vocabulary in a number of ways and pie = pizza was one of those ways. So when a co-worker asked me if I wanted to get some "pie" I assumed she meant a flat round one of the yeast-leavened-dough-with-sauce-and-cheese variety.

Located just off 1st Ave in the LES, this Aussie hole in the wall looks scary. A look further back however reveals a small pie making factory. What really sealed the deal for me were the various snacks and chockies for sale that I used to bring home by the boxful... and of course my arch-nemesis... Vegemite. If you've never had this vile stuff and aren't Australian, don't bother, it may look like chocolate, but it tastes like salty dirt... While I (or any other non-Aussie I know that's tried it) don't much care for this excrement in a bottle, it's something of a national food there and having a shelf full of it means this place is fair dinkum.

These $5 meat pies are the best I've had between the Pacific and Atlantic. The crust is flakey and crisp yet just firm enough that it holds its insides together well. The fillings vary from chicken to vegetables to ground beef and they have specials. Today I had the Thai curry chicken pie which was somewhere between a spicy green thai curry and a chicken pot pie. Eaten with a side of sweet Thai chili sauce (the regular ones go well with tomato sauce a.k.a. ketchup), it was divine.

On my way out I noticed a case of Lamingtons(chocolate cake with chocolate frosting rolled in shredded coconut) which I regretted not trying, but that just gives me another reason to go back next week.

So grab your mates and give Tuck Shop a burl!

Discovering that you can get real Aussie meat pies in Manhattan was my most exciting discovery this month. Thanks for pointing this place out, fellow Yelpers! I will be back here frequently.

If you haven't been yet, go. Order a beef pie to start with, dip it in some hot Sriracha sauce. Try the Cooper's pale ale. I dare you to find anything more scrumptious in this city.

Right ON!  You BEAUTY. (As they say in Australia).  All the years I've lived in New York, the main and only thing I miss about Australia is the food, particularly pies & sausage rolls with sauce.  (kechup).  A couple of places which sell them have popped up in the last couple of years, but I was a vegetarian.  That's over now, and I'm so happy to see this authentic Australian pie shop with an actual pie warmer filled with these most quinetessential Australian snack for sale for under $5; a sausage roll is only $2.50!
They also have LAMINGTONS.

I've been meaning to visit the Tuck Shop in Alphabet City (downtown Manhattan) for a while now. But I never could make the time. Finally they opened up a sister shop a few blocks from my office in midtown Manhattan and I ran over there. The Tuck Shop serves down home Australian grub. Specifically meat pies. Sort of like American pot pies. They have a Thai Chicken Pie, a lamb pie, a veggie pie and a few others I forget. They also serve Australian beer and candy bars. I purchased the Thai Chicken and boy was it hot! But I love spicy so I would get it again.

Nice little place you definitely need to try if you are looking to get some aussie food. I went a few weeks ago and was told there would be a new menu, so I bet there are even more choices now. And, it's always a plus when you get served by someone with an accent. HOT!

Great Aussie pies, as a regular visitor to Oz, i can tell you they are authentic, and it is always good to hear the accent in NYC, I tried the meat pie and the chook too date, I prefer the meat, but it's all good.

They also  have another location in the Cybercafe at 250 W 49th st which is good for me for work.

Lamb and mint pie is the most excruciating takeaway food ever. This place is just steps away from the F train, so I've taken to grabbing a pie and heading to Brooklyn when I can. The 25 minutes or so with the meaty smell wafting from the paper bag are about as bad as it gets for a hungry, vaguely inebriated me.

Eat this.

Eat here.  Have the meat pies, the sausage rolls, and as noted below especially the lamingtons.  Yum!  They are amazing.

Of course if you don't like vegemite your mileage may vary.
