I had the worst experience with the Arizona chapter of National Organization for Women.

We (Invest In Me, Incorporated) requested to partner with their organization to assist the women they are working with at our 1st Annual conference and was greeted by this response:

"Please remove us from your list.
      Thank you.
      Jodie Lawrosky"

The request wasn't for money, it was to simply invite and enlighten the women to an extraordinary experience.

As a public servant by trade (working for the White House and Local Government), this is very distasteful and unprofessional of this individual to do. I hope they understand what it means to politely decline an invitation given their title and role in the organization.

However, our event was a huge success and the women in attendance gained a wealth of knowledge.

We can be reached at inspire@iiminc.org.

Men of the United States, our sisters are suffering.

They are being battered. 4.8 million women are assaulted by their significant other per year in the United States. 25% of them will have experienced some form of domestic violence in their lives.

They are being murdered by men close to them. 1 in 3 of them are killed by a lover or spouse.

They are being disenfranchised. Their rights and freedoms are constantly under attack and are being eroded by regressive forces.

They are being humiliated. Over 200,000 women are raped each year.

In 1966, NOW was formed by a group of nearly 30 people, women and men alike, with the hopes of destroying the many-headed monster of sexism not only in the US but in the world at large by teaming up with global feminist organizations.

With 550 chapters in every state in the union, NOW remains the women's movement's mightiest non-profit institution and loudest voice.

Over the course of its 46 years, NOW has crashed Senate hearings, successfully pressured the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to better enforce sex discrimination laws, brought an end to gender-segregated employment advertising, gotten retroactive pay for women that were discriminated against by AT&T, defeated anti-abortion bills, and have helped pass the Civil Rights Restoration Act and the Violence Against Women Act to catalog just a few of its accomplishments.

An America without NOW would be an America where women would always lose, and when women lose, so do men.

People can be feminists regardless of their gender or sexuality, so think of your girlfriends, wives, sisters, aunts, nieces, and mothers, and act NOW!

Darren's review says it all, statistics included! If each of those of us who think the same way work to make the world more compassionate, even the compilation of small acts will help the world to be a better place.
