HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG. say what? HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG.

Four on the Floor still gets me going. I have to admit that I am a big fan of the bastard child of disco. I go to this place and want to start Vogue-ing like in that old Madonna Video but then I remember I'm straight and it's better not to send mixed messages. Oh well. Guess I'll save it for when I get out of the shower....... "Ladies that were in the mood, Fellas that were in the groove. Don't just stand there let's get to it, strike a pose there's nothing to it. VOGUE."

Am I Gay Now?

I'll admit it. I am sometimes very "surface" and will judge a club by its décor alone. Such is the case with Pink and its not-much-to-look-at entry way that somehow opens up to a room that is tastefully done up in pink, lots of pink. It looked like a club where you would meet Barbie & Friends (or at least imagine that you were part of the group). I loved it immediately.

The music is house, house, and more house. Personally, I'm more Michael Jackson and Top 40s. Dancing to house music takes on a whole new level of moving ability, and I'm just not trained that way. Still, it was fun to see everyone else do their thing (and it did not prevent me from doing my thing).

By the bar, there is a row of cushioned seating along the wall. Be forewarned that you may need some help getting on the seats as they are made for Yao Ming's height. I suspect that some guys hang out around this area for that very purpose. The people here are nice, and the girls don't stare you down. The guys, although often trying to find a hookup, are respectful.

Best part, open until 4am! So you can go get your Top 40's elsewhere first and still have enough time to make it back here.

You may or may not meet Barbie here, but you'll sure enjoy partying at her playhouse.

A friend of a friend told me about a party she was promoting, so I came up here last night. Got in there around 10:30, so the girl coming with me got in free; I paid $10. No sign, but the bright pink light was a good indicator. Nice decor inside, and tremendously polite doorman (that was a real pleasure, actually, to have someone be, not simply "un-rude" but outright "nice"!)  Inside, the area around the first bar was quite full, but there was only one person on the dance floor.

Since I don't drink and my date wasn't drinking anything, we sat down at one of the tables to let things get a bit more active. Early on they seem to be open to anyone; later on they might become bottle-service, though my date's coats were fine.   We chilled at the tables for a while, letting the club fill. (And I gave my date a massage, which garnered a few looks, haha!)

Eventually there were enough people dancing that we joined them. The DJs were playing house, which I was stoked over! But as the night went on, it never got very energetic, always stayed a bit too chill for my dancing preference. Seemed like it was about right for a lounge, but the dancefloor was pretty packed, so this wasn't the right mix, I'd say.

We left around 1am, since both of us were a bit tired and the mix wasn't really working for us.

A few other bits of info:
1) I think there was a coat check in the back; it was closed but slightly visible.

2) Later in the evening I realized that I think there are separate women & men's bathrooms. Both are in the back of the club (near the DJ booth), with women's down a short hall to 2 [seemingly] unisex bathrooms. The men's are down a different hall to the left of the hall to the ladies' room. Not sure there are actual toilets in there.

3) Crowd was cool. People were definitely a bit tipsy, but they apologized when they danced/bumped into you, and everyone was open/accepting of everyone else. Even the more eyebrow-raise-inducing people, including the girl doing the shuffle on the dancefloor the whole time, and the dude dancing without a shirt. Was nice that everyone was chill about it!

In short, I'll definitely go check it out again. Oh, and if it's relevant to you, it's on the same block as a BART station, so at least getting _there_ is easy.

Never doubt the power of great music!  Non-dancers beware! I don't mean to scare anyway here but on most nights, Pink is not for wall flowers.

You can seen them when they walk through the door; tennis shoes laced up, belt buckled, t shirt or less on up top, all so there's plenty of comfort for an all night dance session.

The drinks can be a little small to the eye but never to the gullet. The alcohol content makes up for the size of the glass and that's something you can never complain about (atleast not until your 30 and you just want what you pay for).

Everything included I love this place and they will continue to get my cover charge, even when I'm on the guest list. Now THAT'S love!

Years ago this place was Liquid, a dark, crowded, sweaty joint that had no appeal to me at all. Turning in to Pink, for lack of a better description, has really brightened up the place.  Nicely decorated, and a little on the small side, but the vibe here is almost always super friendly and fun.  There's a slightly European feel (the owners are French), and they work hard to bring a variety of talented DJs in.  Pretty much all house, all the time, but there's a nice variety within the genre, if you're into that sort of thing.  Highly recommended.

Seriously, 5 stars.  Here's why:

1) The entrance.  No line.  Granted, it was still very early by going out standards, and the night to come was just a glimmer in Pink's eye (get it, pink eye?), but it reminded me of the days of yore when I was relatively important (or knew someone who was) and always, ALWAYS, bypassed the line.

2) The drinkies.  Vodka and I are not friends.  We have grown further and further apart since the many nights I spent in the martini bar, sitting in a chair with high sides so I wouldn't fall over.  Vodka and I managed to have a truce since Absolut was on hand, free, for like an hour.  Even with Red Bull, which shocked the hell out of me.  I did go back to my trusted pal Tequila afterwards, which wasn't the smartest idea.  Oh well, it's not like my middle name is brilliant or anything.

3) The decor.  I'm a chick, I like pink in small doses.

4) The peeps.  It could have been an overly grandiloquent crowd, stepping on my pretty little toes and giving me a dirty look because I want to go to the bar, but it was not.  Nary an elbow in my way or evil eye to be found.

5) The night.    I realize that it's probably not reasonable to base a review of a location on the night as a whole, but I don't care.  I had a fabulous time, and that will make me look back on Pink fondly.   Hotter than Hades at 2 a.m. in San Francisco?  Must be something...

We went here a few years back and I flash backed to it when we went to Holy Cow last night.

Pink is laid out in a similar way to Holy Cow where there's a main dancefloor area and a long corridor section to the side of it. Except that Pink is trying to be more high end than Holy Cow and it does and doesn't work. The decor and layout is pretty good, definitely not as making a club scene in a B movie as Crash was, but not really Tryst or Area either.

The music never got too good or interesting, it was dance remixes of odd random 80s music with nothing really interesting or new throughout the entire playlist.

Overall, the place was just OKay.

First off, I'm not a huge fan of the color Pink, so the name of the joint left me with initial low expectations.  And the old saying is true, "never judge a book by its cover" or in this case, name.

With about 20 friends from all over the world (Singapore, London, Paris, Brazil), we crashed the place and pretty much closed the place down.  The concensus: great decor, great mixed crowd, unpretentious, GREAT beats, nicely priced drinks.

What I liked about it too was that its not one of those places where everyone goes (like some other meat markets) tso that even when crowded, the energy all around is very positive - no haters allowed.

I dunno, sometimes thematic places can be taken a bit far.  Maybe I was misreading the vibe or came in on a "staff cool hat night", but the whole place wreaked of trying a bit too be too hep.  On the small side, the deep, lush wall colors with white trimmed embellishments helped to confuse size perception.  The big, cut out, framed hole in the wall in the middle of the place probably helped carve out some spatial relations as well.  Two bars helped alcohol flow-but the lack of signage in Engrish or even a male symbol on the wall led to bathroom confusion.  Easy to get a booth/table without actually paying for bottle service.

For some reason I always think it's going to be too crowded or have a bit of a pretentious vibe, but more often than not, I'm (thankfully) proven wrong. Last night was the perfect example. Great crowd (enhanced by more than a few friends in the mix), decently priced cold (and stiff) drinks that were a much needed tonic on a very warm summer night, and really good beats, which, might I add, were accented my my friend's impromptu performance on the drums. A good time had by all.

Okay so after a south bay elite event at the 151 Boutique Jon T. and I weren't ready to call it a night so we gathered some folks together and headed up to SF to meet up with some folks at PINK.

So when we get there we were already buzzin from the free beverage at 151 so it was a good time. The special that night was $2 Fat Tires and so we pounded beers after beers.

So after a few poundings of fat tire (this is where it got interesting) we hit up the dance floor and as the crowd was mainly whites and asians it was a good mix. I then decide to grab another beer and ordered a couple of drinks for the homies. At the bar I met this girl who seemed pretty chill and she was looking all cute and stuff. I didn't even need to introduce myself as I had forgotten to take my yelp name tag off from earliers event. We talked for a while and she noticed that I was holding two pints of beer. She suggested that I bring the beers over to my friends and later find her for a dance.

So I then go looking for my friends to give them their beers and drink up for a while. After a couple more drinks I decided to go and look for the girl I met at the bar. So for better vision I pull my glasses from my pocket and find them broken in half. The break happened at the bridge of the nose so there was no way I can still sport them. My friends laughed and demanded i put my glasses on for a picture and I did. So that was pretty hilarious.

So as I ventured to look for this girl without my glasses I carefully and slowly walked around groups of people looking for this girl. After a couple rounds I still couldnt find her until I saw two girls standing and I thought she was one of them. With the light being dark and my vision blurry I approach the two to talk to introduce myself. After hearing a response of a fobby but deep voice, i automatically thought ohh shit its a dude but with long hair. I had to call an audible to my game plan and acted like I knew the dude from school. It was good that they were Chinese foreign exchange students attending sfsu. So after a few chit chats about random stuff I bailed and thought nah leave it,

So to sum it up I never found her that night. Who knows if I woulda seen her with my glasses but oh well atleast I had fun.

1) The place was dark
2) $5 cover after 11
3) Good drink specials and good beer choices
4) Nice chill crowd
5) Dance Floor was a bit small but workable
6) Bathroom were clean when i went

So overall good fun time.

Kinda reminds me of those speakeasy bars in tenderloin I keep hearin about: no real indication of a bar except for the pink light over the entrance. It's cool and kind of makes me feel exclusive that I know it's there. Like a million other locals.

It's expensive, especially if you are a guy--peak time is $10 cover ($0 for ladies before 11 I think). Plus they don't take credit cards without a $30 minimum.

I do like it tho. I think they pump perfume into the air, so you don't smell like shitty ginrumvodkatonic when you get home. The pink walls and gold mirrors remind me of Valentine's day, so it's kind of fun.

I would come back here--fun place to get dressed up and dance. Not as much a bitches-n-hos kinda scene as you might think. Guess cause the crowd is a bit older (early-mid 30s)--but still sexy.

Def a chick bar tho. Come if you want to dance or relive sex and the city, otherwise Cha Cha Cha's is short walk down the road.

Pink is the shit. Try them out on a regular night, or when Gemini Disco is playing. I've only gone once to see the "superstar" DJ's (Louie Vega) and the music was great, but the club was so packed full of pretentious bougie weekender swine I could barely move. Any other night seems fine though. Also the Om: Soul event was a fucking blast.

Drinks are on the pricey side- I think I paid ten bucks for my LI Iced Tea- and yeah, sometimes there's a yuppie element, so 4 stars it is.

boo.

so i go online on friday to buy a ticket in advance for 10 bucks. decide against it when i see they tack on an extra 2 bucks handling fee per ticket. then i notice it's "LADIES FREE BEFORE 11pm" - cool - so i figure i'll do that instead. i even print out the webpage, because i have a funny feeling they're gonna give me shit a the door -- and promptly leave it sitting at the printer. bust my ass to get down there by 10:50 and the guy refuses to let me in free or acknowlege what it says on the website! nope, 10 bucks. which is the final insult: the cover charge at the door is cheaper than buying in advance online. huh? LAME. get yer shit together, pink!

also, they have these cloying, artificial-smelling candles reeking up the joint and the smell of air freshener wafts out onto the dance floor from the ladies room. sexy!

one star for "stink."

i will say the music is great, thanks to my homie, dj gravity.

PIIINNNKKK!!!!
Okay so first of all, I only gave Pink 3 stars because I had drank a little to much champagne by the time I got in to really appreciate the place. That being said...This is what I remember...

-No cover for the ladies before 11
-No cover for the ladies before 11...ha, just kidding!

It was not to crowded when we arrived, slowly but surely the place began to fill up.  The guy spinning didn't seem to have a style, but it didn't stop me from dancing all night! I love house music!  The bartender was really friendly and attentive as well.
I will definitely be returning for a "Pink-part-two" night!

In general is one of my favorite clubs in SF, I like the fact that they stay open after 2am (almost like a real club), and if you like house music it is a great venue.

BUT, the guys at the door can be VERY annoying. It feels like if you're not from the French crowd of friends, they don't let you in after 3am, or they ask you to pay a cover depending on their mood. If you get there after 2am consider the fact that they will still charge a cover but there will NOT be drinks anymore.

First off what's not to love about the color, then there are the sexy Frenchie boys that run the place, the smell is ohh la la, the bathroom is clean, and they give you free pink shots... *HICK* !!! I love Saturdays because they have their sexy house. I went this last Sunday it was a weird crowd, but that's what we get for alchies wanting to paint the town on a Sunday night. Looking forward to going back to this place.

My wife and I were referred to this place by Gilles, the owner. We got the hook up while at BOSSA NOVA and we really enjoyed this small dance spot. It wasn't too far from our eating experience. The ladies got VIP into this club and the gents got a good discount.

The club is very interesting. You will know when you are at PINK because of the pink lightbulb lighting the front door. The inside is lush and the walls and ceilings are lined with fancy linens. There is plenty of room to sit down and there are two bars covering both sides of the facility. The bathrooms are awesome, although could get a bit confusing since there are barely any signs directing attendees (yes, I ended up in the girls room with even realizing).

DJ Donovan was off the hook! This club plays a very good amount of house and vocal house to keep the party jumping. Note: this place can get very hot from all overcrowding and happy dancing people, it is geared toward people without phobias and who like to let loose.

The drinks must have been good because everyone in our group was a mess by the end of the night.

Go here for your fix of house music and liquid courage.

I'm going to say out front  that if you don't like small places, euro-inspired techno music then don't go here, if you do then Fantastic! This is a great club, always a good, eclectic Mission crowd and the DJs are amazing! I used to live in Paris so I have a huge appreciation NOW for good techno music and this place has it - they also do some great mash-ups and throw in some good hip-hop too. I've gone on Friday and Saturday nights, both good, both crowded.

When finding Pink, look for the shady dark street, line of people and Pink neon light above the door. I've never had too much trouble getting in, the cover is 10 bucks (i think, I actually haven't been in awhile). The drinks are  a little pricey but very good.

Again, it's crowded people and hot - so get ready to sweat, but don't worry everyone is in the same boat.

I've been to PINK a couple times...I'm more of a dive chick, but this was definitely fun.  3.5 stars - last time was with co-workers after an alochol filled tapas dinner at Andalu (decent, not my favorite tapas place).  We then went to PINK for a night of dancing. We walked in and the 6 of us were offered these pink shots immediately from the door guy.  It's fun for a "club" if you want to dress up, dance, and go out with your girlfriends.  The house music definitely reminded me of partying in France - the atmosphere is great. it's super dark, pink, lots of chandeliers, and a cool bathroom (but you always have to wait in line).

You know why Pink gets 5 stars?  Because it smelled good when I walked in.  And by "good" I do not simply mean the absence of that funky/B.O/weed/alcohol smell that accompanies most late night clubbing experiences in the Mission, but an actual fragrant aroma of perfume-like goodness.  It was like the club had been Febreezed especially for my arrival.

It was Saturday night and the place was crowded, but our group of 7 found a spot to pound back a few drinks and then we were able to carve out an area on a dance floor without too many issues.  Sure we were encroaching the roped off tables for the VIP's who never showed up, but who cares.  The DJ played some good house/dance tunes and kept the crowd moving and on the dance floor.

The only bad part about the night is when I was sitting on the VIP sofa at 2am fantasizing about my bed and pillow..and when they didn't kick us out at 2am, I realized that Pink stayed open WAY past my bedtime and I was going to have to be a party pooper and tell the group good night.

Minus one star for Pink reminding me just how old I am.

Plus one star for me being able to wake up the next day before noon.

I used to go to this place ALL the time when it was Liquid, so I was excited to check out the new version.

The decor is definitely well done. Beautiful, decadent, and stylish.

Unfortunately I only have two words to describe the crowd - pretentious douches.

So.......I don't like hanging out with pretentious douches and thus I won't be back.

So i made it out to my first yelp elite event in los altos as my bro Justin G.'s +1. Fashion Show was great and congrats to all who put it together. The best part was the open bar eventhough i felt like an alcoholic goin back and forth for more drinks and even double fisting at times. Ok so me and justin were feelin good after a few drinks and decided we wanted to extend our buzz somewhere. I called a few friends and we decided to meet up at Pink SF.

My first time there and i thought it was weird that they dint have a sign outside and only had a pink light on outside. Hence the name pink? Clever? Maybe. It looked a lot nicer inside and was pretty big but they closed off the other half. It was ok though because it wouldnt have seemed like there was a lot of people there if they didnt. They had $2 specials on beers so that was cool. Good crowd too, very polite. My friend got a couple drinks spilled on her by accident and they apologized and even offered to buy her drinks. Overall if you wanna hang out somewhere not so crowded on a thursday night in the city with good music this might be the spot for you.

I don't like dance clubs that much and i definitely don't like the mission district that much.  We came here about midnight on a Friday night to hear Louis Vega (who?, i don't know,  i was supposed to be impressed).  The place is nice, its clean and and crowd is pretty yuppy although its in the mission.  The DJs were good, the music was interesting, but there was also a triple shooting outside the club about half hour before we left the place.

I agree with some of the other issues mentioned: crowd kind of old for my taste, the bathrooms/coat check require you to go through the dancefloor; snotty bartenders; can get extremely crowded.

That said, the place is very pretty (pink is my favorite color!) and smells nice, which is a big plus for a club/bar. The music was fantastic and everyone seemed to be really into it, as opposed to a lot of places that play house where people stand around looking bored.

The drinks were not too overpriced and I guess I had a lot of cleavage since the bouncer let us in for free.

If there's a good dj lined up, I will definitely go again.

I'm in  L - O - V - E  !

You have no idea how long I'v been trying to track down a place that plays house music, but to find a such a place and with class- pink walls and the sent of flowers, DAAAAAAANG!

The bouncer commented on my scarf as soon as we got to the door, the bartenders were soooooo nice, drinks were strong and reasonably priced.

The music was awesome from vocal tracks to some old school house, even some threw in some unexpected stuff like MJB "Just Fine." The dance floor was always movin.

LASTLY- whenever you have city characters at a venue, you know a venue can hold its own. Cheetah platforms, a huge fro, and the dance moves to match. Fierce Tranny Mess- and not even apologizing for it!

Pink - simply put, is the best venue in San Francisco for listening to deep, soulful house music.

For those of you who've commented that you've heard trance or techno at Pink, I suggest you leave the window down next time you're parked in the city and pray to god someone steals your car radio because y'all ain't knowing.

The people behind Pink work hard to ensure that some of the finest acts in the business stop by our fine city a few times a month to save those of us in the know from going to bad parties and enduring sets filled with mind-numbing top 40 hits.  In addition to the quality, in-house promoting, Pink manages to attract some of the city's finest promoters.  That should clue you in on something.

Love, love LOVE the music here!  It's one of the few places I know of that plays good house.  And the crowd is always beautiful and diverse when I've been.  As others have mentioned, it does get sweaty cramped, hence the 4 stars.

GREAT music. I think the peeps who are saying the music sucks just aren't into house? Cool mixed crowd. Not too crowded so you can go from shaking your ass on the dance floor to ordering a drink to taking a break from the 3-inch heels on one of the lounges in one breezy sweep.

if it wasn't for a special guest dj, cheb i sabbah on sat night, i'd probably never venture here.

but good music was worth the trek.

the venue was shaped like a big horse shoe - one bar on each side with the coatcheck and bathrooms in the center.
the bench seating lined the walls with some reserved table areas.

i did run into the bartender from amelie who also works here.  other yelpers have said that the bartenders are not friendly here, but i can vouch that he is.

while waiting for the bathroom, i got hit on by a guy, a girl, and a trans.
gotta love the mission...

It is true what they say...Paris has found it's way into the Mission.

Upon arriving at 1130pm at the front door, there was a short line that took us about 5 minutes to get through.  My drunk ex-roommate knows one of the managers of the bar (who also manages Bossa Nova on 8th street between Mission and Howard in SOMA) so we were able to enter for $10 a head instead of the standard $15.

Turn your right wrist over and receive a stamp that only glows in the black light...weeeee!  Havin' fun already.  Pass through the curtains and enter into an evening of wonderful house music and energy filled patrons.  The walls glimmer with a pink hue, chandeliers hang from the ceiling, fresh flowers sit upon the two bars and no you won't see your reflections in the mirrors off to the left.  But do not fret, you're not a vampire...although that would be hot.  A vampire in SF who happens upon a bar with the feeling of Paris.  Anyway, the "mirrors" are actually pass throughs to the other side.

The bartenders are always prompt and exude a swanky-ness about them that isn't overrun with rudeness.  Yes, you will find Hendricks on the shelf... :O)  Drinks are well made and well priced.

Make your way to the dance floor and get ready to through yo' hands up in the air!  It can get a little cramped, but the music will take you away.  Need a little time to relax those feet, sit on either one of the plush benches that sit across from either bar and let yourself feel as if you're sitting on Grandmas comfy couch.  Need a little more "privacy?"  There are about 4 privates booths available for whatever naughtiness you can contrive.  (I think I've been in a 5-way in one of those booths before...fully clothed of course.)

Pink has never let me down and I will always return to her!

I hate writing reviews about places I'm deeply conflicted about.

Pink has a great crowd, super bartenders, and excellent DJs. Some of the door staff is cool.

The problem is its M.O. -- it is an attempt to import the concept of the small, exclusive club of the kind you will definitely find throughout Europe (particularly in Francophone countries), and that you might also find in New York or LA. The kind where you're made to feel like you're special if you make it in.

While my European friends love this, because it reminds them of home, I think it is Old World bullshit. While I have only been denied entry a couple of times (I was politely told there was a private party, which was plausible), watching the French-speaking door guy (think preening machismo / little guy with a little power) do his thing to everyone else while I wait to get in or step out for air undoes a lot of the goodwill I have on tap for Pink.

Recently a companion had a conversation with him while I stood by. He was complaining that the crowd has of late thinned out, and that people here aren't loyal to a place the way that are in France. The temper of his remarks was that something was wrong with people here.

This conversation was conducted exclusively in French.

I think that nicely encapsulates the arrogance and hubris that will be the death of this place if the owners aren't careful.

If they go under, I'll be sure to have a conversation with someone about it.

In German.

That conversation will probably include the word 'Schadenfreude'.
