Harbor Deli

'Told a friend of mine, SF; order for me and handed her my credit card. (We've been friends for a while so it was something I gave her way too much credit for.) It was my turn to pick up the tab and of all the things she orders for "us," was a $15 sandwich! Really?! I guess when SF heard, "Order for me," she must've heard... 'Order just for you and then say it's for us. One word, "lameassh*t!" (Translated: lame as sh*t)

Me: So, why the $15, NY Reuben?... It's breakfast time, thought you were going to get "breakfast."
SF: I dunno, I just got it.
Me: Did you look it up on yelp*, to see what people have to say about it?
SF: No...
Me: You ordered it for "us," but I'm not the Reuben Sandwich fan, you are?... 'And I would think twice before ordering something so pricey.
SF: I don't know, I just ordered it.
Me: SMH

The sandwich was good, more along the lines of a ten dollar sammie but overpriced with the $15 price tag... 'But it came with a side of dill pickle, so there was that.

I'd have to say that I'm not really surprised, SF can be a bit on the, "It's all about me & what I want side," @ times. I keep giving her the benefit of the doubt; if anything, it's my fault. One thing I can say, she's consistent! She's a lot like family and same dyfusnctional crap that goes hand-in-hand with it. - LOL

However, she does cook a great ribeye!!! I'm kidding, she ruined $80 worth of prime cuts; true story. I cried.

My apologies, I digress; yet again.

It was relatively early, we took the HAPA out for a nice morning walk. The area shops/eateries were just starting to open for the day so it was slim pickings as far as our choices.

In addition, the place had to be dog friendly with a patio and Harbor Deli is that. So much so, that there was a lady with a black collie INSIDE the deli; that is VERY dog friendly. I think she may have known the young lady working that am; they were pretty chatty and don't recall anything being ordered.

Don't get me wrong, the NY Reuben was a good sandwich but not fifteen dollars good. For the $$, the meat should've been piled on & overflowing... 'Overflowing!!! However, it was not; looked like any standard deli sandwich.

I recently visited one of my favorite BBQ spots in Oceanside and ordered the smoked brisket sandwich and it OVERFLOWING with meaty goodness!

Would I give SF my credit card again so she can order an overpriced sandwich for "us?" Hell-to-the-f*k'n-no!!!

We love walking down the harbor and stopping at this quaint little restaurant with a beautiful outdoor seating area. Especially now that we have a puppy, we love that he can sit with us while we enjoy our lunch.

My daughter and I always share the Pastrami Reuben, which is very large. The spaghetti with marinara sauce was very tasty. The chili cheese fries, although not typical, were very delicious.

This is a cute little restaurant, but I guess breakfast isn't their specialty.

It was around 10:30am so I was craving breakfast while my brother wanted lunch. I had scrambled eggs with potatoes, which were seasoned very nicely. I wanted a pancake on the side but it was $3 extra soo I thought I might as well order the short stack which was $5 for 2 pancakes. My brother ordered the tuna melt with macaroni salad. The sandwich was really stuffed, but tasted a little dry to me.

I could barely understand the server, and he charged me for an extra latte that I never ordered. He quickly removed it when I mentioned it to him though.

Overall: Food is overpriced here. Maybe if I ordered a lunch item I would have been more satisfied..

this coronavirus has me stuck ... and i miss you, Javier, and your kindness.

Sure could do with a pastrami on rye with lots of pickles!! oh my!

Oh my.. We were at the cardboard dingy dash and walked over to get something to eat. What a great find. I had the Rueben sandwich with pastrami. It's was a great find. The sandwich has great flavor, if your looking for a Rueben sandwich diffently give this one a try.

A Year later and I'm still coming every Sunday! The pastrami ruebens are consistently amazing! Janet the owner is so nice and really goes out of her way to make sure that her customers are satisfied. She has gone out of her way many times to make sure everything is top notch.. exactly how owners should run their restaurant when they Are passionate! I really do come here once a week and also order through DoorDash and Grubhub. DoorDash is always very quick and never have problems with delivery! Definitely come to harbor deli and try their pastrami Rueben you won't be disappointed

Arrived too early to check in to the Catalina Express and found this place tucked in the corner - open and inviting. We split a Greek omelette, potatoes, and buttered sour dough bread. It was delectable. Seriously, that omelette was good enough to write home about. Olympia was our server and she was very attentive despite serving both indoor and outdoor guests. Overall, a great menu, the food is delicious, and outstanding service!

This is the best Deli we have ever been to the food is authentic and the quality and quantity is great, their ice tea is awesome we will be coming back. Also the service is great and very friendly i give 5 stars easily.

We came here last Saturday morning as they were opening. We sat inside. Our server, Olympia was nice and very attentive.

I had a delicious BLT and my husband enjoyed his egg and cheese sandwich with jalapenos and onion. We enjoyed our breakfast and the coffee was delicious!! Looking forward to coming back!

Great food, great location and great service!!

Saturday morning and we were looking for a place to grab breakfast before we set off on a whale watching trip. We're not familiar with Dana Point so we didn't know where to have a quick, affordable breakfast. We were on Yelp in the parking lot at the wharf when I spotted Harbor Deli in our rear view mirror. Ok. Decision made!
GREAT BREAKFAST!!! Lots of fresh hot coffee, really great service and an omelette breakfast large enough for us to share.
We HIGHLY recommend Harbor Deli!
