While the flavor was there, the substance was not. We ordered a basic cheese & sausage pizza, which tasted great. The sauce was really flavorful, fresh ingredients, all good times. The size of the pizza itself, however, was... lacking.

The paper-thin charred crust was the most disappointing aspect for me.

I quote the immortal words of Randy Jackson, "Its just alright for me."

Full disclosure: I've never stepped foot into the actual restaurant so I can't review its ambience.  I live less than 1 block away, yet I still get my pizza from Pizza Metro II delivered for the $3.50 delivery charge.  Because yes, I really am that lazy.  The delivery guys are always really nice, but usually don't carry pens for some strange reason.

Now for the main event: the pizza review.  The crust is a unique buttery creation that tastes like no other thin crust I've ever experienced.  I can't decide if I'm a huge fan, but I find the pizza delivery options to be less than ample in my neighborhood, so I make do.  Be sure you ask for extra sauce or your pizza may be on the dry side.

I don't think I have ever had their pizza so the review is for their pasta. Good neighborhood pasta pick-up spot. The pasta reminds me of some italian friends family cooking, which was not really a surprise seeing as its a family business. I would eat here again. quattrofromaggi!!

First off, Pizza Metro is some of the best thin crust I've had in the city.  If you have a customer service problem though, they are horrible.  I received the wrong pizza, called to say I wanted the right one, and everything was fine.  Cut to 5 minutes later, the "manager" is calling me to ask if I ate any of the pizza.  I said, truthfully, I had ONE bite, and realized it was wrong.  He said because he "could not sell it" that I was entitled to nothing.  Needless to say, I'm never ordering from them again.  Also, if they are, as they say, re-selling old pizzas to people, then I advise no one else to order from them either.

I love Pizza Metro.  Great salads --my faves are the Caprese and the Spinach--dont forget to ask for the dressing on the side.  The pizza is great.  My favorite thing about their pizza is they have unusual combinations such as potato rosemary and roasted zucchini. The crust is very different from any other pizza place I've had.  I think its a cornmeal crust but very thin and crispy.

Its a casual place with very relaxed service.  Not alot of ambiance but its a nice neighborhood joint with pretty good food.

The pizza here is great - Roman style, not Chicago style.  Not sure what is in the sauce, but it's additive (there is a bit of sweetness that is very good).  We also enjoy their pasta as well.  For take out, it's better than many sit-down Italian places in the area, and much cheaper.

A very unique pizza.  Not the cheapest, but once you have it, occasionally you will start to crave pizza metro pizza - no substitutions.

Great pizza, just as good as the other Pizza Metro location even though they are supposedly not affiliated with each other (???).

It's the service I have to gripe about.  Delivery was painfully slow, and they refused to honor the free pizza coupon they sent us!  I've heard some folks were able to get 1/2-off, but not us.

I'll be back, but won't be doing delivery any time soon - I'll just pick it up.

I've never been as disappointed in a food product and flabbergasted by a delivery person as I was last night when we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a side of bruschetta from Pizza Metro II.

The pizza was an adequate size and cut into bite-size pieces. For $20, I was very disappointed in the overpoweringly buttery taste of the crust, which actually drowned out what would have been a spicy pepperoni. The edges of the crust were curling up and burned. The middle was on the doughy, uncooked side of quality.

I was especially unhappy with this after the incident with the delivery guy.

The tab was $28.00. I gave him two twenties and he asked me if I needed change. I said to give me ten back - my order had come to $25 plus $3 for delivery that goes to the driver - so that was a $5 tip total. He mumbled and felt around his pockets and his coat, rocking back from foot to foot....staring at me blankly.....then said he didn't have it.

What??

He continued to stare and I realized he was waiting for me to figure this out. I shouted upstairs and luckily, we had another $8 - exact change. I told him, "that really sucks, but you should be carrying change for your customers." He gave me a dirty look and said, "well, yeah it sucks, this is how I make my money. "

Look, pizza dude, go back to point A - always carry change for your customer, and then proceed to point B - don't get upset and rude when they don't let you SUCKER them into a $15 tip.

I live around the corner from this place and so does my bf so we eat here almost every other week.  The man that is on the home page of the website makes an effort to remember our names everytime we come in.  And when he's not there, all the other cashiers have been very friendly.

Now for the food...  I've had both their pizza and their pasta.  When my bf and I decide on metro it's always a toss up between those two.  I love their pizza and I find myself craving it all the time.  We always order the garbage pizza.  I love their crust, it's flaky and buttery just the way I like it.  I do have to admit that at times the pizza can be soggy in the middle.  I've never asked for it to be cooked well done, but i'll keep that in mind for any future orders.

For pasta, I've tried the pesto and arabiata sauces and both are very tasty.  The chicken is a litte dry though, but it didn't really bother me.

I love this place and highly recommend it.  Maybe you shouldn't order it for delivery though.

Nothing great but nothing horrible to say.

Pizza was ok but I think I would have been just as happy with a frozen Home Run from Jewel.

Some positives:
1. Fresh ingredients/not as greasy as other places
2. Small slices
3. Short wait for carry out

Note: If you live in the area and got the free pizza coupon they no longer accept it.

Well this is my first review and while I have attended yelp events and know many a yelper, I finally felt compelled to write a review so that others will not make the mistake of ordering from this place.  In all sincerity, from the time the door bell rang till the evening was over, this was the worst pizza experience I have ever had.

Let us begin with the Delivery man, no change and upset when I wasn't able to come up with the money to tip him above the 3.50 delivery charge, bear in mind on 28 dollar bill, he brought no change, not a ten, not a couple of five's, not even a pocket full of change... and then when we are unwilling to give him the 12 that would have come his way if we hadn't come up with the other 8... he gets pissy and whines about how he makes his money.... BE PREPARED JACKASS!

Next was the pizza itself, the crust was so overpowering that there was no actual pizza taste, none, at all.  so I thought that ingredients were meek and I had made a poor choice in toppings, but no that wasn't the case at all, in fact when eaten individually they were some of the spiciecst and best peperoni ever. OK so maybe I sound like a bit of a pizza snob, but this pizza crust was so overpoweringly buttery as to be uneatable. I am leaving one star because i think i have to and because it is pretty affordable, but then so is a cardboard box and would have been better with more flavors...

spare your taste buds, pick a better pizza joint.

I tried Pizza Metro II for the first time last night, partly lured by the free large pizza coupon that I received in the mail, only to find out that they had discontinued the offer due to an accidental omission of a qualifying purchase. Apparently they'll be sending out new coupons once that's corrected. Since the guy was nice throughout the phone call, I decided to order anyway. I was told it'd take 45 minutes, and it came about 35 minutes later, so it felt pretty quick to me. The total was less than I had expected, so I asked the delivery guy if it included the delivery charge, and he said yes but that it did not include tip. I really didn't like that he had to remind me to tip him, especially since I know the $2 delivery charge goes to him anyway. I ordered a pizza with cheese, sausage, and mushrooms, and we really enjoyed it.

Edit: After reading the horror stories of the delivery guy changing the tip amount, I made sure to check my credit card statement and lo and behold, the amount was more! But it wasn't due to a changed tip amount: what I thought was a 50% discount for the "free pizza" coupon turned out to be the wrong receipt with the wrong total. I'm taking one star off for disorganization and the hassle of having to call to rectify the confusion.

Given the name, I figured their food would probably fit in well with my lifestyle. Low and behold, they mailed us a coupon for a free pizza. We called to use it, but they claimed their marketing person was supposed to have stopped sending out those coupons and the best they could do was give us half off. We tried it anyway, despite being slightly annoyed, because hey, it was still half price. The pizza has a good flavor, but the crust is a JOKE. It's mushy and unappetizing. I won't order from there again.

Crooks.  They charge for delivery, and expect a tip. On top of that delivery guys change the tip amount.

This operation is run by a bunch of reject mall rats, that pierce each other during breaks.  Their pizza is jammy and tastes like a butter and jam sandwhich.  I just cant believe the delivery guy would change the tip amount on the reciept.  Never dealing with a bunch of gothic italian immigrants.

Um, excuse me?  Did someone just say "potato" & "pizza" in the same sentence?

Yes, indeed, they did.  Which means that I'm not dreaming, & of course, there's no need to pinch me.

Quick - hurry over to Pizza Metro and get your hands on that potato, rosemary pizza. Have a slice (or two), or just order a pizza "to go" so you can gorge yourself in the privacy of your own home.

Damn, that pizza is good.

(Note: I like Pizza Metro II better than the original one, not only because it's like two steps off the blue line, but also because the service isn't so eye-roll inducing.)

When I want pizza metro on a tuesday, and who doesn't, now Pizza metro 2 is the place that I call.  For some reason pizza metro and pizza metro west feel the need to be closed tuesdays.  Luckily pizza metro 2 carries the weight is open for my pizza gorging.  It's pretty much the same as the other metros, the crust seemed a little bit thicker but tasty as ever.  I enjoyed calling in my order, the guy was gushing about how my combination of roasted veggies and pepperoni was also has favorite.  I thought it was going to be love at first bite when I would meet him picking up my order.

I am slowly becoming a Chicago pizza expert, and this pizza was on my list of "must taste" restaurants, especially since they're about a block away from my house.

So, naturally, my roomate and I decided to order for delivery one night.  We got one of their pizzas half loaded and half just plain pepperoni.  It arrived promptly, I'll have to give them that, but it also arrived about 5 or 10 minutes overcooked.  In other words, burnt.  And greasy.  So, in my one experience with Pizza Metro, they let me down.  I'll probably try them again in the near future and if they do better, I'll edit my review.  BUT FOR NOW it's a three star.

Sorry Pizza Metro.

I really like their pizza and their large selection of toppings for the pizza. They also have a variety of other things available. But, I love how the pizza is made fresh and NOT sitting in a pizza display for two hours and re-heated.

It's great. I'd say its worth a shot if you're in the mood for pizza!!!

I just can't get over how nice the guys are who take your orders over the phone!

It's like you brace yourself normally when calling in an order anywhere else..but not at Pizza Metro.

I have never actually been inside Pizza Metro II, but have on more than a couple occasions ordered delivery.

The pizzas are HUGE and so awesome.
Potato rosemary Pizza - Hello - super tasty extra carb treat!

The pastas are really nice also, and would recommend the Bruschetta any day!

I really want to love Pizza Metro 2, but I just don't.  The delivery guys are always super nice, but there isn't enough sauce and the crust isn't crusty, it's doughy and too mushy.  I prefer Naty's #2.

The original is great, but I love the more open and inviting atmosphere at Pizza Metro II.  Friends who live nearby are on a first name basis with the friendly staff and keep coming back for the thin, crispy, rectangular slices of pizza.  The lasagna, four cheese ravioli, and cesar salad are also big hits.  I'm not a fan of their desserts, but I'm usually too full to eat another bite anyway!

Good thin crust pizza.  One of the best chicken pizzas I've tried.  I got really excited when I saw they had supplis as a starter.  I hadn't eaten one since I was addicted to them in Rome.  They were okay, but still the only place in Chicago that has them on their menu.

Okay, so maybe this isn't the cheapest pizza in town, but I think it's worth it.  I don't eat pizza too often, but I like that Pizza Metro doesn't make you feel like a sack of grease afterwards.  Also, they have super fast service!  I was always able to pick up my pie 10-15 minutes after ordering.  Also, unlike the more crowded Pizza Metro on Division, Pizza Metro II always seemed a little empty (or spacious?) to me.

Gross pizza.  It's around the corner from my place and I was excited when it went in.  There is always way too much cheese on the pizza, no matter what you tell them.  They do make great salads though and they carry Italian Soda that I like.

Great pizza that can't be beat.  Pizza with potatoes?  You bet your hipster asterik!  Service here is much more timely than the one on Division.  Order it by the slice (order two slices) and it's much cheaper than ordering a whole pizza.

My only complaint would be that the appetizers are practically non-existent, but since that's not what I go there for, that's fine.  I'd rather have an extra slice anyway.  Unique pizza that flys under the radar.

This place is great. It's definitely not the best pizza in the city, but it's very tasty, they use creative ingredients, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I'd recommend it for ordering in, especially if you're feeling like a lazy night in or just looking for snacks while having some friends over. It's just a good neighborhood pizza spot. (and their delivery is pretty efficient.)

One Note: DO NOT CONFUSE WITH PIZZA METRO ON DIVISION!

The two are located very close to one another, and obviously there's that whole name thing that can be misleading, but they are most assuredly different and unrelated. As a public service, here is a helpful mnemonic device:

Pizza Metro II  (Ashland)- Good spot, good pizza, and one should happily frequent it.

Pizza Metro (Division) - Nexus of filth and bile. Paragon of misery. Located at Exit 3 of the fifth ring of hell. Should only be frequented in conjunction with a truly horrific act of revenge, or as part of an elaborate suicide.

The pizza here is made to individiual order. Each slice is custom prepared with whatever toppings you like. My personal favorite is the potato and rosemary. The service here is very friendly and accomodating. Request your slices well done - sometimes they undercook and then you have a mushy mess that will taint your opinion of this place forever.

Pizza Metro restored my faith in vegan pizza. Make sure to add green olives and ask for extra sauce. It comes with awesome grilled zucchini and it's open really late and if you order one slice you really get a ton of little square pieces. So it's fun too!

Pizza Metro II is better than Pizza Metro!  Weird but true!  I took a friend there tonight insisting it looks "A bit divey" but she would love, love, love, the food and I was not wrong.  They have some of the best pizza by the slice around: light, delicate, buttery, crispy crust, the perfect amount of tangy sauce, and cheese, cheese, cheese all made to order.  She got the Spinach and Mushroom pizza and was not only thrilled with the taste, but also with the fact that she could just order what she wanted.  The help is nice, but since there is no traditional waitstaff service is not a huge issue.
My favorite is the Gnocchi in Quarto Fromaggi sauce: rich, rich, rich.  I cannot believe the quality of this dish!  I went to the Olive Garden for the first time in ten years about a month ago and was as unimpressed with the quality and prices as ever.  This dish is half the price of bad chain restaurants and just fantastic quality.  Delicate pillows of Gorgonzola gnocchi, floating in rich, delicious, complicated but subtle (really!) cream sauce.  Two slices of pizza, a bowl of gnocchi to share, and drinks under $20.  Can that really be beat??? I love this place.  I would give it five stars if they did not keep the doors open (the kitchen is open and hot) freezing you out, and if the bathroom had more plentiful hot water.
