They have probably the best calamari. I've eaten in a long time. It was delicious, beautifully seasoned. I like this place a lot.

My wife and I went to Petaluma on a Monday to do some shopping. And upon completion of our shopping we were hungry. I was looking on Yelp and many restaurants were closed on Monday Or closing soon. I was pleased to see that The Shuckery was open. So off to The Shuckery we went. Upon entering, it was pretty dead inside. Fine by me, I dislike crowds. I am very thankful the restaurant was open even on a slow night.
My wife and I shared a few dishes.
Baked oysters, prepared three ways. Rockefeller, poblano, and miso butter.
I enjoyed them a lot. My only complaint is the poblano. I would not order that one again. The pickled pepper was too much. It took away from the flavor and focus of the oyster and did not complement it whatsoever. The pepper flavor was too overpowering in my honest opinion.
The Rockefeller and miso butter were both fantastic!
We shared a bowl of clam chowder. And an order of calamari.
Everything was fantastic!!!
If you are a seafood lover, I highly recommend this restaurant!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 25, 2017Previous reviewThis place had been on my to do list for awhile. My wife and I finally found a time we could work it into our schedule.
We came for dinner. Upon entering my first impression was dang it smells fishy in here. Luckily it was just the first impression and the food was not fishy and very fresh!!
The service was fantastic! A bit overwhelming, but very attentive!
We started with a round of 6 baked oysters Rockefeller. These things were so good, I was lying in bed to turn in for the night, and thought I have to write about them right now! Rarely do I feel this way! The garlic, butter and spinach flavors were perfectly complementary to the oysters. Even my wife who is not fond of oysters absolutely adored em!!!
We both enjoyed pints of lagunitas IPA which paired fantastic with our meal.
My wife ordered these awesome fish tacos which was made with some killer fresh local cod caught right here on the Sonoma/Mendocino coast. The tacos were really great!
I had a bowl of the clam chowder and a side of parm. Fries. The chowder had some really nice flavor, and big chunks of clams. But was too watery for my taste.
I am definitely looking forward to another visit! And would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great seafood meal!

We stumbled upon this place. Very nice and elegant restaurant. It was very crowded but we were lucky and they sat us at the bar.
The service was nice, friendly, and helpful as we told them we had never been here before.
We arrived before Happy Hour (3pm - 6pm) ended, so we were able to try some of their snacks.
Oysters on the Half Shell: 2 Buck Shuck! Daily selection. Delicious, briny, and slightly sweet.
Baked Oyster: rockafeller; poblano with pickled chilis; bingo; miso butter with tobiko. This was rich, savory, and decadent.
The Shuck Caesar: little gem lettuce, white anchovies, croutons. Mmm... the dressing was creamy and savory. The anchovies were briny, fresh, and meaty. The croutons were nice and crunchy and added to this flavor explosion!
Fish Taco: house tortilla, green salsa, lemon crema, coleslaw. The white fish was flakey and deep-fried. There are a lot of texture and flavors going on in this.
Tony's Fried Oysters: remoulade. The sauce was delicious and a hint of spice.
We had this bread thing which I can't remember. LOL. Picture attached.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Josue S.Citrus Heights, CA041Feb 10, 2024
Ah shucks, I liked this place so hard that I think my head imploded!
These oysters were amazing... Absolutely to die for!
And the ice bed they displayed them on was stocked with some of the most beautiful ice I have ever seen!
That ice looked so sharp that it could have sank the Titanic!
I definitely would love to come back, however that is not really an option now.
Thumbs up!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 19, 2024
This place slams. HARD!
I've made a trip to Petaluma just to eat here. Like no joke!
Perfectly situated on the corner, tucked into the beautiful Hotel Petaluma, The Shuckery is NOT one of "those" hotel restaurants that only stays in business because of the hotel - this eatery stands on its own merit, hands down!
Our last server was a doll; patient, great recommendations, excellent timing... she truly made the meal even better. I can't say enough about the menu - it's so well balanced and simply offers the best of what the area has to offer.
Fresh selection of oysters, gorgeous towers of seafood, beautifully presented conservas, excellent wine pairings - honestly the experience is top notch from start to finish!
The bathrooms are in the hotel lobby and it's a beautiful view in there! Great patio just adjacent to the bar if you want to have a cocktail after dinner - this place is a WIN!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Anna K.Petaluma, CA76143Apr 7, 2024
This is my favorite restaurant in Petaluma and I go here every chance I get...it never disappoints. The service is spectacular and the happy hour is the best in town. The scallops are so incredibly amazing that I dream about them, the flavors are just unreal! I love this place so much

This place is always terrific. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to have a quick bite. Had oysters and their awesome clam chowder. Can't wait for the next time.

Outstanding oysters! So fresh! And only $2 during happy hour! We started with dozen and a half and had to order another dozen cause they were that good. Caesar salad was one of the best we've had - creamy but balanced dressing, fresh crisp greens. The drinks were tasty. Loved the beautifully displayed conserva (tinned fish), which tasted as tempting as it looked! Friendly, efficient service!

I've never eaten at this particular location, but I've walked around and I love the hotel environment and their bar in the main room!! It's an old classic Victorian building that was remodeled into a hotel, and I love all the old-fashioned carpentry!! The restaurant/dining area isn't too big, but it's perfect for friends as long as you make a reservation!! On a Friday night, my friends and I went to the happy hour But we had a reservation, and the couple in front of us tried to get seats without a reservation and they were told it was at least a three hour. Wait! Goodness! Lol.
Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful since we couldn't figure out what we wanted to eat besides four dozen oysters! Lol then we each got this delicious rosé bottle of bubbly, along with a handful of different appetizers to share!! We had amazing service and when our server went on break, she introduced us to the lady that was going to be taking over and she was very helpful and tentative while the other server was on break. I definitely had an amazing , filling experience!! I will definitely be back!! Everything tasted fresh delicious, and the environment was simply marvelous!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bill L.Los Angeles, CA296109418Mar 15, 2024
