My household affectionately calls this the "small" 99 ranch. Indeed, the size of this place is underwhelming compared to the 99 Ranch on Valley Blvd / Del Mar, but this location makes it convenient for us to buy our Asian food goods. Freshly fried fish (as Christina O. mentioned), Nagaraya cracker nuts, Silverswan soy sauce, Datu Puti vinegar,  banana ketchup, Vietnamese brand coffee, Korean bowl noodle, dried lily flowers, cheap fruit....Yes, I get all my basics and more from here.

There are times where the selection here is lacking, so that justifies me having to drive to the "big" 99 Ranch. On the downside, this place isn't as clean as the big 99 Ranch, but at most times, it'll do.

Not all 99 Ranch locations are created equal. This one in particular is just plain terrible. Live fishes that look like zombies. Vegetables and fruits that rot in disgust.

And still somehow pple manage to buy their groceries here.

    Try this location instead: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Update: The pork  we bought was really stale and heavily bruised. Horrible. This place should close down.

From the suggestion of a fellow Yelper, I'm in search of Nuoc Dua Tuoi in the frozen section. It was suggested that I would find this delicious drink at the 99 Ranch Markets. Since I was in the area of my aimless driving while thinking about things, I decided to see if I can find my favorite drink so far these days.

It's not busy or crowded as most businesses appear to be closed for the day by the time I got here. It's one of those supermarkets within a indoor strip mall or indoor flea market. Once I walk into this mall, I see a bakery but I got this musky smell just hit me like a brick. As I keep walking towards the 99 Ranch Market, it gets stronger too. I head towards the back where the meat counter is and figure I would buy some steaks since I'm going to be playing hook-ey from work tomorrow. It must have been a huge rush earlier today because the meat counter was just about depleted. It was like the rush that happens at Wal-Mart on a daily basis.

So the steaks that they do have remaining, didn't look lean or fresh at all. If this is what dark aged beef looks like, this is where you go to get these steaks. So you guessed it, I am passing on steaks tonight. So I proceeded to the freezer section and I found the drinks of my choice. However, I think I'll pass on the frozen drinks too. There was perhaps a case left all loose in the freezer but what is that crap on top of the containers? That just looked nasty. Surprisingly the floors are clean in this place but seems like the shelves and freezers are left unmaintained. I was only looking for something to eat but stopped in at this location since I was roaming around a bit. I rather drive to the one near my house or go to Hawaii Supermarket on Del Mar Ave and Valley Blvd. That one is dirty but it ain't nasty like this one. So you've been warned, don't blame me if you have complaints. They don't care, they keep people rolling in here.

I went here the other night and 1/2 the freezers were down and empty.  The place looks like a hurricane hit it and the selection was sparce in the produce section.  Only go here in a pinch.

NOT A RANCH 99 ANYMORE! I agree, the old market was a dump. Shame on Ranch 99!! But Ranch got kicked out by the owners of the mall and a new supermarket called The Square Supermarket is there now. Brand spanking new. Lots of Chinese and Korean products. Prepared sushi for take-out lunch and the Fresh Fish section is AMAZING! The whole indoor mall has been remodeled. Has a Food Court next to market which is convenient when you are stopping in at lunch time or dinner time.
