I have gone to other 99 Ranch Markets and really find everything neat and fresh. This was was dirty like no one had mopped the floors in days. My BF wanted to try the Chinese food because it did look really yummy. We tried the BBQ Pork, Broccoli Beef and Chow Mein. It was okay. They Chow mein was the best part of the meal, I did not see any beef with the broccoli and the BBQ pork had a funny taste to it so we didnt eat it. I think that I might try it again at another 99 Ranch Market .

LOL...my cousin noted that the address had a string of 4s in it aka evil since 4 pronounced in Chinese is a synonym for death.

This is obviously not the freshest and cleanest market around, especially compared to Japanese markets like Mitsuwa or Nijiya. It is certainly not as large or carry as much diverse items as the ones in SoCal but for your basic Asian needs, it does fine.

Avoid getting anything that resembles "Japanese" food here.

Making tofu to look like the small intestine does not make it yummy.

Did you know that I-Mei Foods Co also makes mochi ice cream? It didn't look as good as Mikawaya though.

And WTF is with the missing lids to two of the Haagen Dazs ice cream containers?

Either the workers don't speak English or are racist against white people. I asked this guy a question, he took 1 look at me and said "no help" and ran away.

I eventually found what I was looking for... dumplings. The sign said they were 5.99 and it rung up as 6.99. I didn't want to attempt to converse with anyone so I just paid the extra dollar.

The dumplings were great! Also found some black vinegar and garlic an chili sauce, ummm!

Really dirty and crowded. The produce is old and beat up.

I would go to the Newark location.

Ugh! This is not my favorite Asian market in the Tri-City area. For one, it's crowded! Parking is difficult during the weekends and even sometimes during the weekdays as well. Plus, the aisles are crowded as well. On the plus side, it's cleaner (but not by much) than Marina Market and has an in house bakery. Still, I'd rather go to the 99 Ranch in Newark -- it's not that much farther away and it's easier to park and shop.

I went here with my cousin.  She's like Norm on Cheers, they know her name, the fish mongers all but shout it out, when they see her.  I almost think she's a rock star.  It helps that she lives around the corner.

She's like, "Hey Manong, what looks good to day?"  They pick out the best Pompano and Tilapia for her, clean it,  slice it, and fry it up.  Ready to go in 8 minutes.

She just shook her head when I told her I buy frozen Tilapia fillets from Costco.  Then she asked, "You shop at Trader Joes don't you?"

I rather go to the 99 Ranch in Newark just to avoid the sparse parking spaces and the crowded aisles. This is the oldest 99 Ranch that I know of in the tri-city area, so the interior is a bit out dated. The quality of food items in the food court has steadily gone down hill. I would grab a thing or two for the convenience, but if I have the choice, I would avoid it all together. All of my experience include too much salt or blandness.
The plaza is full of local eateries and cafe.

So old.  I remember when it was new.  Parking lot so crowded as usual.  Other locations are kept up much better.

located in a very old shoppling center that used to host lucky's, this 99 is cramped compared to it's younger cousins in neighboring cities. the parking is sparse and the selection is limited. heartell the inventory here is old also.

I use to go to this 99 Ranch because it is the closest. But after awhile of seeing how unkept it is I decided to shop elsewhere. There are other asian markets that are closer to me. And now with more of them popping up I've given up on this one. If I have a need to go to 99 Ranch I opt for the Richmond one. Seems they have more variety there anyhows.

I shop at 99 Ranch every week.  It's close to my house and relatively cheap.

Today 2/26/07 went grocery shopping and these are items I got:

Napa cabbage 1.89 lb @ .79/lb =$1.49
small bok-choy sum 2.30 lb @ .99/lb=$2.28
ginger preserved plums $3.89 a bag
more bok choy sum .97lb@.99/lb=.96c
Berkeley fatfree milk $3.79 (it's MORE expensive than Albertsons)
Cabbage 1.24 lb@.69/lb=.86c
Azumaya tofu firm .79c
lemon 5@ .39=1.95

total $16.01 and paid by credit card.

Recommended.  Best days to shop Mondays-Thurs--not crowded at all.  Fri-Sun are the Worse.  If u must go those days go very early or near closing time.

On lazy days and for potlucks I always get the ready made food to go.  I like their roast duck, soy sauce chicken, bbq pork, roast pork, chowmein, eggplant dish.  They do party trays but you need to pay in advance a few days before, then pick-up when you need it.  You can use your credit card to pay for this stuff too.

This is the worst 99 Ranch in the area. The parking situation is horrible. The inside needs to be remodeled, there's the floor is uneven, discolored, and theres cracks everywhere. It looks like an earthquake hit in the middle of the frozen section. This particular store smells awful. The staff here are mean too. Want service w/ a smile? Forget it!

The only thing they got going on at this location is that they sell good enough quality fish for sashimi. Also, the meats are decently priced and the hot deli ain't bad either.

Tip: Try to avoid buying American products. They are usually dusty and expired.

dirty, and somewhat smaller selection than other comparable stores. I prefer the Newark location, if I have to go to 99 Ranch.

This used to be "the Asian supermarket" to go to when you needed things that you can't find at Albertson's, Safeway, or Raley's.  Now with the abundance of other Asian supermarkets in the area it may not be at the top of most people's lists but from the full parking lot you can tell that it certainly isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  You can get some great deals here, especially on the live dungeness crab so it's worth it to stop in every once in a while.  A bonus:  there always seem to be hot Asian Milfs near the live seafood section.

99 Ranch was so good in it's early years... that is until the bombardment of newer Asian supermarkets came through (Marina Food, Island Pacific, & Seafood City).

Nowadays, 99 Ranch's quality has diminished. The floors are dirty, the aisles aren't quite organized, and it doesn't have much of a variety of foods. I think it caters more to those who live in the area.

Then again, I haven't been here in quite some time. I will admit that they have some deals & can serve as an alternative when Marina is low on a product, but I can't really say much about the store.

The parking can be bad at times too.

This is one of the oldest and of course most dirty 99 Ranch Market in the area.  Don't go on the weekends, this place is like a zoo.

I like this Asian market better than the Marina food market because it seems to look brighter inside and the produce didn't have nasty fruit flies having an orgy over the navel oranges......=(
They carry all the basics that I need, like rice, tofu, greens, potstickers. The deli section isn't that great in my own opinion. The food seems to be dry...I don't know, but the bbq pork and duck was good. I would rather go here than any other asian markets in the area =)
