Just went in the other day (Saturday) just to wander. I don't come here expecting to find what I need. Wasn't expecting to buy anything at all, but I usually end up with something in my grubby hands. Because you usually can't beat the price.

They had some large juice boxes of lemonade and fruit punch (perhaps about a liter) that I was about to get... until I saw that many of them were already expired. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Glad I checked first. And there are other items here that I'd be suspect as well, like the produce, but with a discerning eye, you can avoid those and move on.

A cheap place to buy spices here, like chili powder, onion flakes, garlic powder... Simple school supplies. Salsa. Shaving cream. Car utilities. Party supplies (and seasonal holiday items). Sponges. That day, I just bought two elastic knee supports and plastic clothes hangers (bundle of 10).

They have a Blockbuster Express kiosk, which is a plus. $1 movie rentals [per day] for the win! Ended up renting "How to Train Your Dragon." Fun movie.

Parking is fairly easy, as they are located in a small plaza.

Just got pushed by a man behind me in line with his cart. Always busy here. Get your gallon water at baja market for 79 cents.

the three stars are for the variety of...just STUFF they carry here. Be careful of the chemicals in some generic brands though, a light spray might permanently alter your state of mind if you know what I mean.

Couple of things my mother taught me (and I'll love her forever for) way before saving and scrimping was the "in" thing (you know, before this whole economic deterioration nonsense):

    1. Recycle your beverage containers. Plastics, cans, glass. Get $$$. Scoff all you want, but there's a special kind of gratification in walking away with $20. You'd be dumb to turn away free money. Really.

    2. Pillage the 99 Cents Store.

This Arcadia location is old school and frankly, I'm shocked there's no review of it yet. There's no shame in a good bargain, kids. The only deterrent is the parking lot: cramped and kind of beat. Otherwise, a visit to the Arcadia branch of 99 Cents Only requires at minimum, an hour, to oogle and pour over the aisles of choicy items.

99 Cents Stores in general have upgraded their merchandise to include fresh produce and other such edible, everyday items. This past weekend, great finds at this location included: honeydew, super fresh blueberries, italian crimini mushrooms (that would go for $3-4 a box at Pavillions). I wanted lemons, but the selection was limited to only bags of bruised ones. Also spotted: bell peppers, avocados, limes, asparagus.

But, the cornerstone of the 99 Cents Store is, and always will be...CHRISTMAS ACCOUTREMENTS. Why throw away money on trimmings that your friends and family will toss, anyway? This is what I'm talking about-- spools of 50 yard metallic ribbons in all colors, 99 cents. Bows. Tags. Sparkly boxes. Sparkly bags. Good looking stuff for a buck.

Many toy drives and various charitable donation drives are coming up and you can afford to give a lot without sacrificing quality-- plenty of popular Disney items and other brand knicknacks to give out.

Oh, if it matters, all items are now 99.999 cents to accomodate for the slumping economy.

I don't really go here that much...

Has nothing to do with wealth, I just don't like buying cheap crap (crap as in buying a TV coax cable and have it be thin, scrawny, and wrinkly).

But for everything else mainstream, 99c has quite a few good options. Especially since they come in smaller sizes and such. And that's the other reason we don't go here - we're kind of a large/demanding family that'd be more suited to something wholesale like Costco.

But nothing really beats 99c if you just want something to finish your project, buy some more dish soap and don't feel like going to Costco, or just some random cheap stuff in general.

But the food... I haven't tried it and I don't think I want to.

Come on! Who doesn't love the 99 Cents Only Store? Come on! It's absolutely my most favorite store in the whole wide world.

What I like the most about the 99 Cents Only Store is that it's the place where really, really bad products go to die. For example, when I first saw Reese's Peanut Butter & BANANA cups, adorned with the visage of Elvis on the package, I knew they would soon be headed for the candy aisle at 99COS. Cans of jalapeno flavored tuna? 99COS. Chipotle mayonnaise, Steven Seagall energy drink, Strawberry flan? 99COS bound, for sure! I wonder how UFC veteran Matt Hughes feels about his autobiography sitting on the shelf at 99COS? FAIL!

Actually, many of the products at 99COS are name brands and they have absolutely nothing wrong with them. Often, they simply have an expired offer or something dated on the label, but the product is the same quality you'd pay twice as much for (or more) at a regular store. I buy all my trash bags, cleansers and cheapo sodas at 99COS.

You have to be careful, though. I saw some jars of salsa on the shelf at 99COS the other day that looked horrifying. Salsa ain't supposed to be BROWN. Some of the produce items scare me, too, and when a can says it's a product of a country I've never heard of before... well, I ain't buying it.

A haven for cheap, NAY, THRIFTY people like myself.

Soda bottles, wine glasses, plates, holiday decorations, IPOD covers, AUXILIARY CABLES(for your car), GREETING CARDS & gift supplies...a surprisingly FRESH array of produce.... 99 cents store is upping its game.

Love the new merchandise. Keep filing them in and I'll keep buying em out.

I cant believe there's not more reviews of this 99 cent store!  This is my family's FAV place in Arcadia!  Sad but true - we get a real kick out of going here after we hit Taco Lita; its part of our routine.
This is one of the bigger and better 99 Cent stores around.  We always find fun crap here.  I think we've probably tried every generic brand of every item they carry .  We even bought a bottle of green mens cologne called "Macho" as a gag to leave in the bathroom at work. They carry generic pads and tampons called  "My Julie,"  but even cheapos like me have standards.
We dont care that your bathroom is dirtier than the Mobil station Men's Bathroom -we love you Arcadia 99 Cent Store!

Batteries, wrapping paper, pens, cards.  There are a lot of goodies here for only 99 cents.  (What happened to the days of 99 cent TVs?)   I probably wouldn't get any of the produce here but for the basic necessities, the items here are more than sufficient.

This place is okay....Once I got a California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizza for what??? 99 cents! You have to be careful though...alot of there food is nearly expired. :P The meat ain't so good so beware. They have an interesting choice of drinks like Arizona Iced Tea cans and mini Coke bottles. Everything there is 99 cents or less, which is great if you have little money. And they sell gift cards which is perfect for people who are obsessed with this store XD

99 Cents!!! Can you think of a better reason to try some new product?
Companies use the 99 Cents store to see if a product will be popular. I recommend this store to anyone. You can find practically anything: Water, soft drinks, health products, produce and the list goes on.
Check it out for youre self, I'm sure you wont leave with less than 5 items.

Before a previous job working for an Auction house I used to wonder how can they sell this stuff for so cheap,Well maybe I can clear some Q&A for you ,Sometimes stores are on the verge of going out of business or the vendor is having trouble selling a run of product so they buy it pennies on the dollar of cost, 2 way is trucking companies have accidents or shipping containers get damaged so the grocery refuse shipments and  it get sold for pennies on the dollar, 3 the products sit in a warehouse waiting to be shipped and the order get cancelled so it gets sold for ?,you guessed it pennies on the dollar instead of being destroyed with a short expiration, with that said  the 99 cent stores have some awesome deals but you do have to check date codes and remember that its only a best if sold by date most companies have an 800 number so check the shelf life if in doubt and you just may be suprised at the savings on some of this stuff, and yes I do go in this store and find some great deals too! I'm sure if you still have doubts they may have a number you can inquire or goggle to find your anwser, and the rating I give them is four stars because i have yet to find one store that is really clean and friendly, but they are better than big lots,Atleast go in and look you may be suprised like I said,I hope this helps my fellow yelpers.
