Review from Sarah S.

I'm not gonna lie, this store is my guilty pleasure. I go there way more often than I need to. I've been to several other 99 cent stores and they have all been really crappy...dirty, not a lot of decent product. I think they give this store all the good stuff because it's in Valencia and close to Stevenson's Ranch...maybe corporate thinks the area is uppity and needs better products. Whatever the reason, I don't care. This store is very well organized and pretty clean. They usually have decent food and a lot of times they have new products that just came out, so it's nice to try them for a buck instead of $4 at the grocery store. It ends up adding up. I've bought lean cuisine and other brand name products there, as well as fresh produce. They have a decent cleaning supply isle which always has Pamolive, Fabuloso, Lysol, among others. They have an amazing candy isle that has just about any candy you could want including typically expensive European chocolate. They get in new products every couple days (I think Monday, Wednesday and Friday), so there's always new stuff. I can honestly say I have never gone to this store and not found at least a few things that I "needed." I'm laughing at myself about how much I like this store.
The staff is hit or miss, some are really nice and some are a little grumpy, but who cares? Sometimes they are under staffed at the registers, so you have to wait in line a while, which is a pain when you're buying movie candy and all the people in front of you have stocked up for the next year. There always tends to be some shady characters in the store. I guess it attracts them, so I try not to go at night, but there's nothing to be too concerned with. -

I was surprised seeing some items in this 99 cents store, that I have been purchasing for $5 and less. Depending on how convenient is your access to this store, is what may determine if you would become a regular customer.
All in all, not bad at all! -

How can you hate on this store? You can buy toothpaste, spatulas and fresh produce - and come out with a bill for $3!
The fresh produce is great. We're talking $.99 for a carton of strawberries, which were $3.99 down the street. Bagged salad, mushrooms, potatoes...all kinds of good stuff is here for, of course, $.99. While the produce is great, it doesn't last too long. I wouldn't recommend buying more than what you would expect to eat within a few days.
Some of the items are cheap, but you can find a few name brand things here cheaper than your big box store. If you have the time, it's totally worth the time to take a peek. You could definitely be converted once you compare your produce bills! -

Right around the time they legalized same-sex marriages, 99 Cents Only stores ran an ad in the LA Times advertising their new bridal registry.
Yeah.... they did it. So, right along with your Macy*s, Bed Bath and Beyond and Target Registries, you go ahead and register at the 99 Cent Store and put that down on the invitation. I swear no one will think its a joke.
You know they were serious too. (shakes head in shame) -

This store has expanded their grocery section, which has vastly helped stretch my dollar!
The produce is usually smaller or larger in size than what you get at the grocery store or a weird shape. In other words, its not the "beautiful produce" you see at Von's, but its just as nutritious and tasty and keeps more pennies in your pocket.
Just make sure you look over your selections carefully to make sure nothing in the package is mushy. If you do this, you'll be fine. Most of the produce is shrink wrapped.
The following is a list of items I bought today for 99 cents each!
Tony Chacere's Gumbo mix (they also have the red beans and rice, jambalaya and others - also have Zatarains, but I like this brand better)
1.5 pounds of pears
1.5 pounds white nectarines
1.5 pounds plums
1 personal size seedless watermelon
2 pounds white onions
1 bunch organic celery
1 pound organic spaghetti from Italy
2 cucumbers
3 green peppers
3 large zucchini
3 medium summer squash
1 bag spinach leaves
2 pounds carrots
1 gigantic red cabbage
The produce I got all had labels saying product of USA. You need to look at these closely. The bags of shallots and garlic today were labeled from China. With the bounty of produce growers in California and this country, I try to support our farmers as much as I can. The onions were from Lancaster CA right up the road! I wish the store would take more advantage of the produce sources closer to us.
If you are trying to stretch your budget, you might want to check them out. Its nice to get produce for cheaper prices without having to buy the gargantuan sizes of Costco. -

I don't write as often for this location because its the same story every time I come here. When the heat starts rising that means you need to drink more water and keep the body nourished. So, I headed over to the 99 Cent Store to grab some water bottles and lime Shasta drink.
In the morning, usually there is no one there. Just a couple seniors getting a few items, probably fiber products...lol. I got my drinks and there was two cashiers. I went to the very young, friendly cashier. She is very sweet. That's why I decided to write a review, not because of my purchases, but the girl always tends to strike a small conversation with me.
I got two bottles of Lime Soda (69 cents each with 10 cent CRV each) and one bottle of water (69 cents with 5 cent CRV). My total was $2.51 with tax.
The girl makes my day every time I visit. There is the other girl, but she seems grumpy every visit. Anyways, it was a hot day, but the girl made my day a little cooler.

They open early on Sunday. The place is well organized and stocked. This location has plenty of parking. I've noticed that most 99 cent store never have as many cashier as they need. I've come to except it and expect it.
