So this place isn't a TRUE 99 cent store since a lot of the items are more, thank you economy and owners. However, not worrying about the extra 29 cents or whatever it may be, this place has tons and tons of random items. I mean you can find practically anything here. Well, actually, it may be difficult to find since things feel a little scattered but what do you expect from a giant store full of crappy items!!!!

Note to shoppers: Remember you are shopping at a 99 cent store. There are items you should and should not get at these types of stores! So don't buy everything and then whine and you know what when you get home to find out that items are not what you expected them to be. In most cases you get what you pay for but for the other 5% of the time, you get lucky!! I hope you're one of the 5%!

So I had a verbal quarrel with one of the workers here about the name of the store. Now I believe the name is misleading. You see 99cent depot then your like "hey things here must be 99cent!!"

    UH NO!!!

The worker told me that 88% of the items are around 99cent (which I feel she grossly exaggerated). The beauty of a 99cent store is that you can go in and no worry about checking the price cause you know every product is of equal value. This place prices items all wily-nilly. I got a tin pan for 99cent but had to pay 1.29 for some candy. -_- Where they do that at???

    Here are some name suggestions:

    Low Price Depot
    Bargain Mart
One-Hundred and Twenty Nine Pennies and Up
    Low-Budget Supply
    Cut-Price Discount Zone

BUT YOU CANNOT BE 99cent Depot -_-

*yes I am arguing over a few pennies but its the principle*

This was once my favorite 99 cent store in Los Angeles when it had clean aisles and easy to find merchandise.  However, they've been filling every bit of empty floor space with crap and even filling every bit of airspace with more crap and shelves that get higher and higher every time I go in and merchandise getting harder and harder to find.

It may sound funny to say but their prices are clearly going up with a number of items listed at $1.25 and others as much as $4.99.  I guess times are tough but just about everything is junk in the place and if I wanted to pay more than a buck I'd go to Target.  This place is hidden to the side of Toys R Us/Pavillions/Pier One so parking is generally easy to find.

I now prefer Dollar Tree down the street to this place because it's much more cleanly organized and I believe almost everything is still .99 cents.

You know what they have -- some treasures, lots of junk.  Beware of items from foreign countries that might have some type of ecological or other hazard.  You really have to dig through stuff, the place is packed.

In the Pier One shopping center so good parking.

Aisles and aisles of things for less than a dollar?! Oh my.

I stumbled across this little store on my way to buy some office supplies across the street. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

99 cent stores can be seen as a waste of time to some but to me they're like treasure hunts. I walked out of their with this plastic bin (handy for organizing), a tape measure, a set of soft scented candles, a travel sewing kit, a portable foldable water bowl for pets, cute bowls perfect for cereal, gift bags, and bento lunch boxes. All for a grand total of under $10

Disclaimer: there are lots of things that are more than 99 cents at this store,

BUT, there are also lots of things that ARE 99 cents only, and good buys.

What I love about this store is that it has so many cool Asian things. Little containers, and Hello Kitty-type containers ("Hola Kitty" as I refer to the knock-offs). They have MANY different candles, most of which are $1.29 and elegant-looking. Also, lots of candle holders, candle displays, and overall nice home decorations ( think they buy a lot of Target close-out items).

TONS of craft items - for a preschool speech therapist, it is a dream come true. You can find things like Gator Board (that super thick poster board) for $1.99/sheet, wooden puzzles, pre-prepared crafts, etc. Also, tons of scrapbooking items, jewelry making tools, beads, charms, clasps, you name it.

There are great things for the home as well. They have energy efficient light bulbs (best prices around), batteries, automobile-related items, tools, and lots of similar items you would pay more for elsewhere (I just paid $4 for a plug for the bathtub - there, they had the same one, plus a sink size plug included for $1!!!).

I don't have pets, or even like them, but if I did, I'd go to this place - they have a whole aisle full of stuff for your furry friends. Gift wrap, tissue paper, ribbon, wine bottle gift boxes, cards, and other gift-related items also have an aisle to themselves.

In summary, you can find pretty much any dollar-store item here. And if it's more than a dollar, it's not much more and probably worth it!

Someone told me that this is a great place for art supplies for kids, and it really is.  We also go there before any airplane trips to buy a bunch of junk to entertain my daughter, and it always works out great.  For $20 you can load up a backpack with all kinds of random art supplies, cheapo toys, and games and it will keep the kids entertained for a long time!  (Just be sure they don't put the stuff in their mouths...everything is from China and made of plastic!)
We were also able to find a great kite there (winnie-the-pooh, only $.99) when Toys R Us didn't have any due to the season...I recommend this store!  It's handy!

this store is huge & a messy one too. i felt like i just walked into a business owned by a hoarder or something, haha.

but i DID find what i wanted after weaving through all that chaos: NAIL ART POLISH for $1.25. they're ones that have thin brushes used for nail polish details.

    it was... worth it.

This is one of my favorite Cheapio stores, because they often carry items other places don't have. Sometimes you see exactly the same stuff everywhere else. They've got enough original things that it's worth swinging by there every couple of months. They are not getting a 5-star 'cause they are just stuffing their store with too many items that are way over 99Cents now & it kinda raises my hackles a bit.

This is a slightly below average 99cents, mainly because many of the items are NOT 99 cents. This store is best for gift bags which don't actually look cheap and tacky when you compare them to those bought from "proper" places like Hallmark or even Target. Make sure you're an independent, totally self-sufficient shopper if you come here - there aint no one to help you find anything and they're actually quite rude - but if you are looking for cutesy things, kids crafts (watch out for the lead and the badly made kids' toys) and you're in a hurry, it should come up trumps for you.
