One of those rare beautiful spring days where sitting out on a shady patio after a leisurely Sunday drive, sipping a glass of bubbly Prosecco just feels like a dream.
Y'all, this cute place on the square in Brenham is that dream brought to life.
Sonia, or waitress, is doing a good job balancing a full patio of guests' drinks orders, meals, and checks; we have cool drinks in our hands and an order in to the kitchen within just a few minutes.
We have a hummus plate with olive add-on for a starter, then chicken Caesar for hubs and the sweet potato breakfast hash with eggs for me. With as modern-artistic as the atmosphere is, we're excited to see if the food continues the aesthetic.
The hummus plate is _beautiful_. It would be worth the drive to Brenham _just_ for this! The hummus has a roasted red pepper look to it and, trust me, the olives add-on is 100% worth itfat green olives and dark brown kalamata olives with a surprise surplus of garlic cloves, all drizzled with high quality oil and crushed red pepper flakes. This is just DEVINE.
Cesar salad- peppery, in a GREAT way! And the Parmesan crisp was a perfect Addison (we had ours with no croutons, and thanks to the crisp, you really don't need them!)
The eggs on my hash came out over cooked (I had asked for over medium, and Sonia said that's how they usually come). A quick request for a re-do and they were on my plate in just a few moments. The sweet potatoes tastes like fall: roasted and warm and bacon-laced perhaps a smidge of maple, with all the kind of comfort of being over at your favorite Auntie's house and she's fixed you a special breakfast before all the other relatives arrive. (PS: the second set of eggs were PERFECT and that drippy yolk really pulls the dish together!) (PSS: I had the salad verde on the side. Yall, that would've been gilding the lily, it so didn't need it)
We ordered a second round of the hummus for dessert. Yes. It was THAT good.
We'll head home happy and sated, grateful for finding this little gem in Brenham. This was such an excellent meal! Compliments to the chef!!

Atmosphere? Congenial. Cocktails? Top notch. Food? Delicious! Service? Speedy and delightful. For an unexpected stop passing through, this turned into a memorable experience for us. My personal choice for brunch was the extraordinarily tasty salmon flatbread with dill cream cheese, capers, and pickled red onions and topped with everything but the bagel seasoning. Enough for me plus sharing with the table. It was a crowd pleaser. Made me wish I was a local so I could come back often.

Orders nachos and sliders to share. A little pricey but one of the best nachos that I can remember in a very long time. Good thing the house wine was a good option for $8 each. The sliders were fair. Great atmosphere. Overall 4 out of 5. Food and experience combined.

We had such a nice brunch here yesterday. Our server was excellent! She made such great recommendations for us. We decided on pineapple mimosas, the beet salad, chicken & waffles, and the salmon flatbread. The names aren't exact but they were all delicious and gave our palette a great flavor. So glad we stopped in here. The ambiance was pretty chill. They had a really nice hostess and waitstaff. I would come here again.

When in downtown Brenham, go 96 West. I've dined there twice - once for light apps/drinks and, most recently, for dinner with my mom - and both experiences were lovely.
The farm-to-table menu offers everything from appies (not really tapas), soups, salads, flatbreads, and entrees like gourmet burgers, fish, chicken, and steaks. On my recent visit during the winter holiday freeze (bbrrr), we got the burrata over heirloom tomatoes (do it), gnocchi special, sliders with homemade pimento cheese, chicken noodle soup, wine, and hot teas.
Happy hour is Wednesday through Friday 4-6pm with $2-off beer, house wines, and well drinks (but at the bar only).
They do have a dog-friendly patio with prime people watching of downtown goers.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Tracy B.Austin, TX161420866Jan 7, 2024
Had a girls trip to darling Brenham. This was our favorite meal we had as it had an elegant and cozy ambiance, our bartender/server made delicious martinis and she was beautiful and kind and made the entire experience inviting and relaxing as my college bestie and I lingered for a long time catching up and reminiscing on perfectly crafted cocktails. We had the gluten free flatbread and it was crispy and savory and loaded with fresh mushrooms, arugula, feta cheese and finished with balsamic glaze. I can't wait to return- it's located in the darling town square which is decorated so festively for the holidays in December. This will be a yearly tradition for us .

The restaurant was a lot smaller inside than it looks outside. The whole thing started off bad. We should have left. We were in line and a woman came and squeezed by us. We found out she was the hostess. She ignored all of us in line and was pitching a fit about something, to the point that one of the owners came to seat us. We were seated at a two person table that already had the menus and silverware set. The only problem was that the ac was blowing in the corner. We were shaking it was so cold. We ordered drinks, coke and beer. Half of the menu was marked no changes or substitutions. So that narrowed down what we could eat because of food allergies. I ordered chicken and waffles. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and biscuit with sausage gravy. Food took longer to come out than I thought it would. Food came out. My chicken was one long piece and three small pieces. Small as one bite pieces. The chicken was not but not greasy. My husband's chicken fried steak was chicken not beef, as the menu stated, and the outside was warm but the inside was raw. No one came to check on our food but it was just that the owner was walking around checking on dinners and my husband told her about his food. She apologized and then left for a little bit. She came back and said that she went to see if anyone else had ordered the chicken fried steak and found out that the other owner had ordered it. She offered to bring us some other items but we just shared my plate. She comped our dishes but charged us for the drinks. What really rubbed me the wrong way, was her telling us it wasn't the waitress fault. No kidding but she also didn't check on us after bringing out the food. We realized that this seems to be precooked food that is heated up after you order. If not, how could the food be raw on the inside but crispy on the outside with no oil showing on the crust. Just really disappointing because it looks like such a nice place. Again, the biggest disappointment was her telling us that it wasn't the waitress' fault so that she would still get a decent tip. I think they even watered down the coke because you could see through it. Really unhappy experience.

Perfect! Perfect service. Perfect and delicious food. Perfect range of craft beers. Perfect location. Perfect interior design. Love it! Perfect place for grownup food and conversation either at one of the small tables looking out the big front window or at one of the two bars where you can chat it up with the bartender and other folks who pop in for apps and or food and drinks. You MUST try the Wild Mushroom Flatbread. Eat it all, even if it means you take something else home in a box! One of the best things I've had lately. Also, if they are available, I love the Texas Goat Cheese Peppadews-sweet picante peppers stuffed with goat cheese and drizzled with basalmic reduction. I hear they might be leaving the menu, but I hope not! Spinach dip and sliders are also great choices. The red barstool in the center of each bar is just for fun, but it's little details like that that I say makes a place special.

Really nice dinner, excellent steak, and friendly service. Ambiance was warm and inviting but also intimate. There was a nice bar area we will try next time.

This is our go to family spot in beautiful Brenham. It has a unique flair and a great spot right downtown on the courthouse square, surrounded by fun little shops and stops.
96 West is a reliable kitchen with great takes on some recognizable favorites. Like flatbreads with some pizzazz (but not too crazy) and great nachos, neatly lined up and perfectly proportioned with toppings (an answer to the perennial bane of nacho connoisseurs).
Cocktails and wine list are really good too. Again recognizable but with their own personality, which is a good single word description of 96 West - personality. And I think - based on her personality - you'd like to get her number for a second date.
Oh and by the way, the decor is one of my favorite elements. Unique art from what seems to be local artists. Big pieces that impose their color on the seating in a fun way.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
