Neighborhood: North Parki judge chinese buffets on a scale all their own, so four stars is compared to others. i find the best criteria for finding a decent buffet to be the presence of two groups: actual chinese people and really really fat guys. both are renowned for their love of eating. the former ensures that the food must be at least reasonably authentic, while the latter guarantees that nothing that's supposed to be hot sits around long enough to get cold. this place has loads of both of them, and in correlation, the food ain't so bad.

I give very few one star reviews, but this place may have turned me- the King of Pan-Asian buffets, off of Pan-Asian buffets for the foreseeable future. While I don't know for sure, I think I may have become slightly sick after eating here. Several of the food items certainly could have or should have been kept warmer than they were.
The seating area seemed to be kept cleaner than the buffet area; I could have done without their storage refrigerators out in the open among the soda fountains. Keep the front of house the front of the house, I say.
Though the food was good, the inconsistent temperatures took away my appetite. Can't recommend the place, sorry.

I went on Thanksgiving for dinner so it could be skewed (either way good or bad, maybe they brought out the good stuff for the holiday.. or maybe the good cooks had the holiday off and were at home... who knows?!)
They had a ham which was a nice touch. The egg drop soup is good, as were the traditional meat/veggie dish staples. Many of the meat dishes were spicy. The fried and salted shrimp was nice considering it was only 9.99. Drinks are serve yourself. The interior could stand to be cleaner, but hey, it is a chinese buffet so it was pretty much par for the course. I personally prefer korean or sushi buffet, but they are double the cost...
Sometimes from reading reviews I'm not sure if I went to the same place as the people who wrote the reviews went to.
This is currently my favorite Chinese buffet. I have been to a lot and the rest of them don't have as many choices and the choices you do get are stereotypes of Chinese take out.
This place offers the typical Chinese buffet fair but they also have lots of seafood and they even serve duck. You can get crab legs that are okay. I would say stay away from the muscles but some people enjoy the taste of them. I found my favorite Chinese dish at this place, the salted whole shrimp with hot pepper (with shell on). There's only one other Chinese place in the neighborhood that serves that and they charge over $10 for just that dish.
They also have sushi, though you might want to only get the vegetable ones. They have a sushi chief there and I guess you can ask him for something if he's there. I usually just take a cucumber roll or something. I make better sushi at home but it's still fine.
Stay away from the American food (pizza, etc.), there's a reason you don't get American food at a Chinese buffet.
In terms of desert, they have soft serve ice cream (tastes like soft serve), donuts (I like them), fruit, jello, pudding, this bean paste filled pastry, and a few other thing. Since I eat a lot of "ethnic food," I've acquired a taste for things like red bean paste.
Drinks are from a fountain and you can get as much as you want.
Also, they do offer take-out. You pay for a certain "weight" of food, like a 1/2 pound. I think they just really give you a certain container for the price you pay and then you go into the buffets and stuff the container. I've never done it before but I see people do it every time I go in.
Wow, I am surprised at the reviews! But, it really shows you the differences in tastes that people have.
I am a guy that will check out chinese buffets. Most people can't stand them, but I will try. I think its great especially the day after drinking.
This place sucks in my opinion, I think its one of the worst tasting buffets I have EVER been to. I have been here twice and both times I've had that "eww so much msg and crapola in my tummy I think I am going to burst bile" kind of feeling.
Yea, they have alot of stuff and a variety, but, its just not good. I didn't think it was very fresh, I'm not sure if its, that it isn't fresh.. or that its' just not prepared well? Its not cheap either.
You can head north into Evanston and find another two Chinese buffets that are less crowded and taste alot better.
Weekends are terribly crowded with families. Lots of people.

The food gets colder here every time I visit. Yuck.
It's decent if it's warm, but not great. However, there is a LOT of it, and it's better than most other buffets. It has one of the largest selections of any Chinese buffet that I've ever seen. Some things look really weird and I don't eat them. There are some funny Engrish signs.

Filth Palace.
If they provided an equivalent of toilet-seat covers for their booth tables--the seating experience may have been better. The food that was left lying around on the floors looked as appetizing as the food in the buffet itself. They had a little bit of everything--peking duck that looked like roadkill, and sushi in indescribable, never-before-seen shades and hues. And the best was saved for last--a self/soft serve ice cream machine that you walked away from with feet sticking to the floor, and a harmonious squish-squish sound at every step.
It's easy to see why they make you pay BEFORE you enter the restaurant.

My aunt brought me here, bless her soul. She and the rest of my family love this place. Bless their souls.
Like Jacob J. I cant believe that other people like this place. I'm pretty easy. Hell, Super-size Me just made me hungry for a double cheeseburger.....
This is what I thought walking down the line.
Icky.
Gross.
Dried out.
Icky.
Gross.
Greasy.
Is that legal?
Icky.
Gross.
Kinda crusty.
Swimming in Margarine. How do noodles do that?
Dessert so old its discolored.
Oh wait! This looks OK (when I touched it to my lips I immediately knew that it was not).
Why is this chewy, its obviously fried (looking)? I mean its golden yellow. Kinda.
Why is this hard and crunchy, its obviously steamed (looking)? Oh, I get it. Its supposed to be a plastic/rubber wrapped meatball. Hmm, innovative!
Alinea has nothing on this place.

It's like an oasis in the desert. With rows of slightly greasy but so delicious Chinese fast-food fare. As a vegetarian, my selection was slightly limited, but I still ate like a queen.
Is it troubling that a waitress was actively hunting and swatting flies in the corner, or encouraging that the wait-staff is vigilant in the fight against flying pests?
My fam was in town when we stumbled upon it, and Hong Kong Buffet allowed us all to get what we wanted and sit for a long time talking story. The cola is cold, the food is hot, and a good time was had by all.

Chinese buffets seem like such a great idea until you're actually inside amidst the crying babies, unrecognizable greased up food items and everyone trying to beat the house.
But I digress, this place charges around four bucks a pound for take-out. You can get a lot for four bucks. It's food that will have been permeated with the taste of whatever food it was next to but at least it's cheap and considering how expensive other Chinese buffets I've been to are, if you're going to buy bad to mediocre food, you might as well not pay that much for it.
This place is HUGE and it has so many different choices. They have chinese food, and lots of it. I don't think you can go here and not find something to eat. They have it all, from fried rice to sushi. A great, laid back place to load up on food at!

This is one of the better Chinese-style buffets on the edge of the Lincoln Village shopping mall. For under $10 it's all-you-can-eat Chinese food, with points for quantity (lots of choices - including seafood) and quality. Besides Chinese, there are other selections like sushi, kimchee, and even mini-pizzas. Sometimes there's fresh pineapple and sometimes canned. Finish up with a soft-serve swirl cone and you will be satisfied. Even my Chinese grandma likes this place.
Great environment with many choices of foods. 4 different type of this and 6 different type of that....anyone can eat here but for the asian food lovers this is your heaven. Enjoy homestyle made foods and relax!
Everytime I eat here I think about jeans. The reason? The same space used to be a GAP for years and years. This is a very large Chinese buffet, which is a step above the smaller neighborhood ones. However, the prices are a bit more and I find the variety overwhelming. As with all buffets you sacrifice quality for quantity. There are some great items on the buffet, but many are just mediocre. They do have more seafood options than most places. It can be crowded and noisy, not to mention the parking lot gets jammed up.
sooo good 3 kind of fish 3 kind shrimp many more on the buffet
i cant get enough
