    Theres different variety of food.
When we first entered we didn't have to wait long even though there were a lot of people and we had 12 people.
They were all really nice and in less than 5 minutes we had over 20 dishes on our table
I would say the best one was the xiao long bao an chicken feet their egg tart is really good too cause it was crunchy

everything would have been good but our chopsticks weren't even clean... Like seriously? I had chilli on mines still but exchanged it and washed the new one with tea

A friend took me here for a birthday dim sum on a sunday morning. It wasn't too crowded around 11pm, and we got seats right away. The things that stood out to me most here were:
    - Chicken Feet: Very flavorful
    - The Big thick noodles w shrimp with soy sauce: One of the best i've ever tried

I tried a few other main dim sum dishes like the shu mai and hac cao, but those weren't so good to me and was a bit dry. The mini egg tarts were okay and not that great as everyone says they were. Service was good. The decors of this place was nice especially the chandeliers. I loved the theme color of this restaurant, it made it look very elegant. I think i would actually like to try other dim sum restaurants before coming back here.

two words.  Walnut Shrimp.  Awesome.  Their walnut shrimp is butterflied, crispy and coated in a light mayonaise, and served with diced apples, honeydew and cantelope and crunchy, candied walnuts.
we also had an off-menu claypot of grouper with bitter melon.  i had never eaten bitter melon before, so if you have, you can imagine my surprise.  nevertheless, served alongside the lightly battered and fried grouper in a clay pot with other  vegetables and sauce was quite a contrast of flavors.
the service was excellent, despite two private parties going on in different rooms and a slightly busy main dining room.
finally, we tried their black chicken soup.  very rich and flavorful, and the chicken was falling off the bones.
next time i want to come here for dim sum.  this is an awesome restaurant, AND they take credit cards.  I HATE carrying cash, so when i see that CASH ONLY sign in some restaurants, it usually equals never again.
the restaurant is called 888 Seafood, and we ate and ate and ate.  good name.

Very popular Dim Sum restaurant.  If you have never experienced dim sum, this may be a first place to visit.

My friend recommended of this place-I have heard of this place before but because it is in Rosemead, I have never had a chance until recently my sister came to visit and she is staying in Pasadena, so I thought it'd be a perfect chance to visit China town and the surrounding area.

We wanted to come here before noon (it can get packed especially weekends) and we were right.  There are about 1,000 seats and half of them were full already.  And more and more people showed up as we were waiting for the food to come so yes, please show up before noon if possible.

    Let's talk about food.
4.5 stars for the food.  Their Xiaolongbao(pork dumpling) and sticky rice cake was very good.  I had better but their shrimp dumpling was stil very good.  Tea actually tasted and had a nice fragrance, so that's a +++! (some dim sum restaurants have really crappy tea and that's a major no no for dim sum (customerily, it's more of a tea lunch).

Cons:  Well, I hate to say, but one of the Chinese ladies who pushed the cart was really rude and I insisted that I didn't want anymore but she left our table with some food..  I know this shouldn't be a surprise since things like this happen all the time in other dim sum restaurants, but that won't make it right.

Compare to other restaurants though, most of them speak faily decent English and tried to understand what we were saying so I liked that.  If you have a big group, or want to try all kinds of dim sum (they got chicken feet and leaf wrapped rice and liver and all kinds), this is a nice experience for you!

They do have the variety and my daughter just loved the very cute and large mango pudding but everything tastes just bleh. If you don't want to wait very long, (large restaurant) and must have the carts it's good but if you know what you want and have pretty strong expectations on the quality of your dim sum, then it's best not to go here.

    Traditional cart style dim sum.

I like also that they have plenty of servers bringing around plates of dim sum on trays... just a few plates so you know that what's being offered is hot and fresh.

The place is huge so there's not much of a wait even when the dining room is packed.  Showed up today at 1230 (Saturday), waited maybe 5 minutes.  Every table was full, part of the restaurant was sectioned off for a family event.

Everything was hot and fresh and served fast.  All the standards are done very well:
    shu mai
    har gow
gai lan cooked on the cart
    steamed chicken ginger bao
    baked cha sui bao
cha sui sou (BBQ pork in the flaky pastry triangle)
Jiu cai bau (steamed then pan fried dumplings with chive and pork)
steamed fish dumpling with pea on top
black mushroom stuffed with steamed fish & shrimp
    tofu stuffed with shrimp
    mango pudding

Skip the xlb dumplings... they are better elsewhere like at Mei Long Village.

Ask for chrysanthemum tea for something different (and no caffeine).

I've been coming here for years... it's still going strong and steady.

Best dim sum in southern california.  I've been to at least 15 different dim sum places in socal from rowland to LA to irvine to san diego and I have to say...this is the best place in terms of price, variety, and quality!

I saw some great dishes that I hadn't seen elsewhere...Shark fin dumpling soup, shrimp and scallop dumplings, freshly cooked taro cakes!!

I'll be dreaming of the day I come back here again.

been coming here with my family for many years. whether it's for morning dim-sum or a wedding reception, 888 provides great eats. dim-sum here is very good quality and decently priced. with the many carts roaming the dining room, there's a lot of variety to choose from.

at peak times, be prepared for a good wait... not to mention the crazy parking situation. good thing there's plenty of street parking on the adjacent streets.

Hands down the best dim sum in the SGV, Chinatown, and OC.  I've tried other dim sum places and time and time again, I always find myself back here for dim sum when I'm craving it.  Food's always consistent, service can be a hit or miss, so that's why it's missing the fifth star.  But overall, if you're going to do some dim sum in the SGV, make sure to hit up 888

I usually go to eat dim sum over in Chinatown, but I have to say if you really want some good stuff, head on down to Valley Blvd!!

888 is very clean and the minute you sit down, they come to you right away and the hard decisions begin. Unfortunately, everything looked so good so by the time I was full, I missed the BBQ pork, duck, and other tasteful delicacies. Damn.

I am convinced that they have at least 5 different types of shumai that are all sinfully delicious. Their pork and egg porridge/congee was really good too; not too watery or bland, but just right. My weakness was their sweet/salty pork bun. They look a little like empanadas, and they're UH-MAZING. My personal favorite is always the sesame bun for dessert, and I have to say both the red bean and yellow bean were quite good, especially when they're fresh and piping hot!

But alas, there are a couple downers. Their fried rice with sausage and mushroom wasn't so great. It was a little chewy, which was rather bothersome. I'm not one for chicken feet, but my mom (Philippine chicken feet aficionado) said that she's had way better. It was most likely true, because the feet were boiled, had no color (obviously), and looked bland.

Among my mom, brother, and I, we ordered about 6 A priced dishes and 5 B priced dishes, a Sprite and it was $38.60. Now to me, that's kind of very pricey...but if you want some genuinely good dim sum in a nice ambiance, and a sizable amount of that good food, then by all means, go to 888 and it'll be great! (cheesy)

So, I'm half Chinese, but to other Chinese people, I don't look it. Why do I start my review this way? Well....  if you are Chinese AND LOOK like you are, you get treated pretty well. Not to say we were mistreated, but considering 95% of the clientele and 100% of the employees are Chinese, the non Chinese looking don't get the friendlier service. (i.e., us). We asked for ha gow and was told, "laytuh" and we asked another server who told us "not now" as they walked away.
One of the servers commented on my daughter's eyes, I told her that she was Chinese and woah... we were treated like some sort of royalty.

We were there for dim sum on a busy Sunday afternoon. The dim sum was excellent, fresh and I would go there again just for the selection, and taste despite my feelings of being discriminated.

came here for my bestie's engagement dinner...there were about 13 of us and we ordered a preset meal for about $500! We got a private room which they allowed us to sit in while waiting for the rest of our party

the staff is friendly and serves the dishes piping hot. We also got shark fin soup which was nothing special but a lot of people are getting it because of the potential ban. Shark fin soup is also typical of special occasions in the chinese culture.

parking is hard to find...i don't kno where my friends ended up parking but it took them over 30 mins to find the spot.

I've been coming here for years since it's my family choice of where to have dinners. As far as it comes, I'll rate this place a 3.5 not because I'm not a fan of the food they have here but I'm just not much of a Chinese resturant person. I come here from dim sum from time to time, and just like many other people say it's alot bigger and better than most dim sum places. The ladies pushing the cart don't just roll right past you and ignore you if you want a dish. I feel like I've always been catered to here... but maybe that's because my family has some pull with the managers here ;] heh. I've never had a problem with service here because I'm always with a large group of at least 6.

The seafood here isn't bad at all, we always order crab, lobster, or shrimp and I've never had the impression that it wasn't fresh or tasted bad. They also have a little part of the restaurant that sells roasted duck or pork which is pretty good here too.

If you're just looking for a place to have some chinese food at, I guess you could come here. I'm pretty neutral about it. Don't love it but I don't hate it. Give it a try.

I am drafting my review at the dinner table.  That is because I've been waiting an hour for our 6th course so I had the time to write.  My thoughts during my 3 hour dinner:

    Service - 1
HORRIBLE.  Made reservations at 7 but did not get seated until 745.  The lazy susan was not steady so they used my chopsticks to balance it.  I was not given another pair so I walked over to get one for myself.  Our shark fin soup was delivered to us without bowls or spoons.  The most ridiculous part of the service is that, as I've mentioned earlier, for an entire hour, our dinner table was EMPTY.  The managers and servers walked by many times but no one bothered to go check on our ticket.  Apparently, our ticket got lost in the shuffle.  When my mom tried to go pay, they couldn't even find our ticket!

    Food - 3
It was pretty delicious but I really don't like to waiting an hour for the next course.

    Ambiance - 3
    Typical Asian restaurant.

I would give this restaurant a 1 star but they did give us a couple of beers to cool us down.  Would I come back for dinner?  Never.  Maybe for dim sum.

Arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon so dim-sum service was starting to wind down and it wasn't crazy crowded. We were still able to get some dishes like choy, turnip cakes, steamed buns, but had to order shu mai and ha gow specially. (It helps when you know how to speak Chinese, especially Catonese.) There seemed to be a lack of carts going around compared to the other big dim sum restaurants like Ocean Star.

The food was okay and service was fairly attentive (again, probably due to the fact it was after the rush hour).

I came here for a free meal with my best friend's mom (hah, I'm cheap but he's cool with it since he invited me)  so it wasn't all that bad but honestly, I've had better dim sum elsewhere. Maybe it was an off day to go since it was a weekday but it was just a bit off par. Food wasn't all that great, service was kind of weak, parking was packed, just wasn't a good experience. I left full but not satisfied. Not worth the drive out there.

Returned for moon festival w/ the fam... somehow the crazy lines were no longer there, but parking lot was still packed.

Service was okay. Food wasn't bad ... didn't get msg hangover.
Favorites were shrimp w/ snow peas, sauteed eggplant and their stuffed crab tofu. They have picture menus now.. actually almost all their dishes have pictures on 'em...which is nice.

If you order the stuffed tofu .. expect a wait .. ~20min after all your other orders. For some reason, it takes an exceedingly long time to make (we almost cancelled it but it ended up coming.. sister told me the same thing happened last time she ordered that dish here).

Not bad in most respects-- decidedly average to decent, but a couple of issues...

The tripe was way too salty, and lacked the nice translucent color that good tripe at dim sum should have.

The selection was limited... we waited 20 minutes before a cart with har cheung (rice noodles with shrimp) came by, the (awful) tripe took even longer, and the pai gut (pork spareribs) took the full duration of the meal to come out-- we had to squeeze it into our stomachs 'cause we'd almost given up on it coming out.

The main thing, though, was that it was pretty okay in all respects, not a terribly memorable meal.

Dim sum and Chinese seafood establishment.  Located in a plaza with Pho 54, Ban Che Cali and Hakata Ramen.

I come here usually only when others request to meet here.  Dim sum here is ok.  During peak hours, they'll run out of the basics pretty guick, and there aren't too many carts rotating around.  Selection is pretty limited.  The dim sum here is mediocre with nothing left to be desired.  Service is pretty lacking.  Not too clean looking either.

Am I a dim sum snob?  Yes.

I've also been here for a few banquets.  Now, I know banquet food quality can differ from dinner food a bit, but it shouldn't be by very much.  The quality of the seafood itself is sub par.  The flavor is average if you're lucky.  Presentation is decent.

On a side note, if you're looking into this place for a banquet, just remember that if you don't book the entire restaurant, there is a chance they will book two banquets at the same time.  And although there is a mobile wall separating the parties, you WILL here EVERYTHING THEY SAY.

888 used to be great! Alas, they've fallen a long way in the past few years. You get the same inconsistent and pushy service from the waitresses, no surprise there. But the quality of their dim sum has gotten pretty bad. The shao mai and shrimp dumplings no longer taste fresh, and you will feel the grease in ur stomach nearly immediately. By our 4th dish, id already lost my appetite.

There are definitely better options in the SGV. Try them out, hit up a new dim sum restaurant, or go across the street to get some yung ho! Just avoid the appetite killing grease attacj that is 888

I came here for the first time today. I had no idea it was going to be so big! 888 opens at 9, but we were here a little after 10 and that was PERFECT. By 11 it's a zoo! 1130, no parking (there's also street parking, but the earlier you come, the better). I thought all the dishes were really good! Pork ribs, BBQ pork buns, lots of fish, chicken feet, and all really, really good. There were plenty of ladies with carts, and the dishes varied per cart/lady, so lots of options even though we were on the early side. I went a little crazy at first. Irregardless, the bill was cheap for three!

Nice way to spend a Sunday morning.

Did you know there's a tiny little hole-in-the-wall Chinese BBQ section right behind the main dining room of 888? MINDBLOWN. MM's mom showed us where it was. This is definitely my favorite place to get ga xi dau (soy sauce chicken). Make sure to get the sauce on the side if you're traveling, and get the bigger container so you have lots of sauce to drizzle over your rice later! A half chicken will run you about $12 (but one time we lucked out and they priced it by pound instead, and it came out to $7 something).

There's lots of BBQ ducks (vit quay) hanging in the window and sides of BBQ pork (heo quay), just like back home. They even have dim sum leftovers sometimes. Apparently my face lit up when I saw the bor lor bao. haha.

Ugh!  What happened here?  The food is not that hot and the shui mai looks like a pile of mush.  What is up with having no chicken feet either???  Also, they fail in terms of selection.  I keep seeing the same items over and over again!

The pan fried turnip cake was the highlight of the meal.

My first (and so far, only) time here was for the reception of my roommate's wedding, so we wined and dined like royalty...

we had like a 12-course meal... my favorite being the shark fin soup... but all the dishes (we had the usual at Chinese wedding receptions: lobster, abalone, jellyfish, crab, whole fish, duck, and more that i can't remember) were super tasty, the seafood was fresh enough for Chinese restaurant standards, and came in large portion sizes.

my wine glass was almost always filled during the 4 hour meal... there were a lot of speeches to toast to!

props to the 3 or 4 hardworking waiters who ran around our banquet hall feeding 15 tables, while accommodating to personal side requests given in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. (we listened to a few of the same toasts twice... just in different languages)

i'm most likely going to update this review, after coming here again and paying for my own bill :)

I have been here a couple of times and both times were for dim sum. I can't say that this is the best dim sum that I have ever had, but definitely the best that I have had in a while considering I have been living in San Diego the past year and a half. Compared to San Diego dim sum, this place is like 5 star restaurant quality. It was the standard faire of food and everything felt fresh, the tastes were there. Although the selection was a little limited, still good quality.

I go nuts over dim sum and this place did not fall short of my craziness over these delightful little chinese meal creations. A fellow therapist of Chinese ancestry introduced me to this place together with another therapist friend. It was no doubt dim sum therapy for the three of us! HA!

We ordered so much I lost track of the names of the dim sum. I remember shrimp har gow, pork siu mai, steamed beef ball, bbq pork bun, shanghai dumpling, pan fried turnip cake,....man there's more...and so on...I tried the rice porridge (congee) for the first time and I really enjoyed it! The place is located in a complex along with other businesses. It is filled to the brim with people waiting in lines. The service was fast though, the wait staff were very nice and helpful. The ambience is elegant compared to most dim sum restaurants. The only hassle is parking. There are lots of spaces but you really need to get there early to secure a spot. Friendly tip- get here before 11 AM and you can find parking easily.

The food is excellent and not to mention--- really cheap! Not a bad deal at all! They classified the cost of the dim sum you order according to letters A-F. A being the cheapest to F being the most expensive. A simple dim sum order costs only $2.10 (A) while the most expensive of all (F) will run you up to $11.10. Well there is only one "F" in the menu and that is the suckling pig. I will definitely be back for more! More power 888!

Pretty good place for dim sum...
Dont bother calling and trying to find out how long the wait is... the person picking up the phone has no idea how long the line is outside...
was quoted a 20 minute wait but when we got there the lady was like 45 minute wait.

Took a while for the lady with the ricepaper wrapped shrimp item to come out, which is one of my favorite dim sum...
Everything was good, nothing bad, will make you pass out from the chinese food food coma...

I think 888 is just alright. They have a great location which is why a lot of people come here... maybe a little too popular because the parking lot is packed to the bone.

The food is alright, just pretty typical dim sum if you ask me... and if there's a wait, sometimes you'll be waiting for a while. The restaurant is huge though, it can fit a lot of people here. I've been to a few wedding receptions here too, it's not the cleanest place to hold a wedding banquet but then again, what Chinese restaurant is?

Overall, the food is ok and the service is the same. The parking situation is what drives me away from here though.

    They lied to us!

Our first option was to go to Sea Harbour on Rosemead but when we found out the wait was over 45 minutes we needed a Plan B! We searched on trusty Yelp and found this place just around the corner. But before we left Sea Harbour we called and asked if there was a wait. The lady said no so we rushed on over because we were starving!

First of all the parking lot is a complete mess! I of course had to remind myself what area we were in. Luckily we found a spot on the street and walked over. Before we even got to the door there was a little crowd then even more people inside! We were fooled! We got our number and said it would be 10 minutes. The wait was like 15-20 minutes but I forgave them when we were seated in front of the nice flat screen. It's NBA Playoff time and the Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies game was on.

This dim sum place has the carts so we started picking things left and right. We ordered shui mai, shrimp dumplings, shrimp with veggies, XLB, Chinese broccoli, pork spare ribs, chicken feet, and a bunch more that I can't remember. The most disappointing were the XLB and the chicken feet. The XLB was soo dry, it was very hard to chew. The chicken feet was just really bland.

Some of the carts didn't even pass our way. We had to flag our waiter to grab certain things for us.

I was surprised that they had the almond snow buns! Unfortunately it was way too sweet. I've had better at Elite and Sea Harbour.

Although the food wasn't that impressive, our hunger was satisfied at only $14 a person including tax and tip.

The last time I've came here was back in 2006, after I've had the worse experience ever. They didn't have any new variety of dim sum and only had the same ones over and over. Like no joke, probably 10 different varieties and I didn't even get to my favorite dim sum ):

There was this other time when my mom wanted beef chow fun so we came here to order it. It took so damn long, and it was so damn expensive, and so damn not worth it !

Me not having dim sum for over half a decade may have given this review an extra star.  Anyhow, this place is pretty nice compared to the places I have gone in the past.  It's very large, open, and well lit.

I came here on a Sunday, and it took about 30 minutes to get a table for two.  I don't think that's normal after reading other reviews.  It looks like this place can get pretty packed.  Parking is terrible, and Google Maps had me pull into the parking lot on the other side of the building.

Anyhow, if you want to try some dim sum, I think this place is just as good as any to get your fix.  I can't really think of anything that really stands out compared to other places simply because I'm not a dim sum connoisseur.
