Wowzer, 20 minutes from order to delivery, during rush hour! I pretty much owe them a review now.

I've ordered delivery from them several times over - so far, so good. I can vouch for the onion pancakes, eel and avocado rolls, and wontons. :)

Place was mediocre - mediocre food and mediocre prices. I think the dinner special with the soup and egg roll is the better deal.

Even though this place may seem otherwise, dishes seem to be in a serving for family size. You'll be getting too much orange chicken if you don't heed my advice.

I've only been here once but it was very good! It's walking distance from my house so that is a big plus.

My friend ordered the Special Crispy Pan Fried Noodles and they were truly awesome. This is the variety where the noodles are actually crunchy, super thin noodles fried into a disc with all the stuff on top. We have been looking for these for a while, and they are hard to find (any recs would be appreciated)! Most place's crispy pan fried noodles are actually soft, not crispy at all. There were plenty of shrimp, the veggies seemed fresh and the sauce was delish.

I ordered Cashew Chicken and it was very good as well, although I admit I ended up eating more of my friend's dish than mine cause those noodles were just so good.

The service was great. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and our server was a nice, energetic woman with a quirky sense of humor. She asked how we wanted our dishes to come out (at the same time, dumplings first, etc). The food came out really fast and was obviously fresh out of the wok, super hot!

To the yelper complaining that they charge for delivery "only 3 miles away", 3 miles is hella far in this part of town! Most places won't deliver that far at all.

I had to stop eating my food to write how horrible it is.  Ordered through Eat 24 so the reg. 45-60 min delivery.  Not even warm when it was delivered.  There was no moisture to the food, everything dry and bland.  The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour.  Egg rolls were mushy and bland.  Dont even want to comment on the chicken.  I dont write reviews, but this was so bad I had to.  The worst!!!

How could anyone say 88 Chinese is mediocre? Best little Chinese place in West LA. Delivery is phenomenal. Chicken and string beans is the best. I have also dined in, because the place is right around the corner from my house, and usually it's quiet in there because they do most of their business in take out. But what can I say, sometimes I like to sit in a place and look at people walking down Fairfax through the windows. Service is of course, top notch, your water glass will never be empty. Also, if you are doing a low carb diet, they will sub or alter any dish to accommodate your needs. A big plus!

I was staying at the Beverly Hills Terrace when around 2:00 am we got a late night craving for Chinese food. We called the front desk and asked who was available to deliver at such an hour & they recommeded 88 Chinese & Sushi.

We ordered Spicy Garlic Shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken & Mongolian Beef. The shrimp sauce was a little too sweet and less garlicy than expected but they were not stingy. The chicken was very tasty, though they could take a little more time chopping the veggies into smaller pieces. The star of our order was the Mongolian beef, it was absolutely delicious! Each entree came with an order of steamed rice.

They delivered our meal straight to our room in about 35 minutes, not bad at all. Our 2 am craving cost us $40 including tip, which I thought was reasonable. I would definitely order from here again, if in the area.

My boyfriend and I have been long time, regular customers of 88 chinese and sushi. I'm kinda of embarassed by how often we get takeout from here. Probably at least once a week. (We're not big on cooking).

The part of Fairfax were 88 is located is colorful but a little dangerous late at night. I've never eaten in the restaurant actually I always get takeout, so I can't speak to the ambiance, although at this price I don't expect a lot.

Their delivery is super cheap and so quick! That's the best part. I think my order came in 25 minutes and was piping hot. You can't beat that.

My boyfriend loves the orange chicken. He swears by it and has ordered it countless times.

I like the cashew chicken and sizzling beef. The sizzling beef is particularly good and peppery. I got the sweet and sour chicken and it was delicious but the chicken is lightly fried, with the skin on I think. I really would have preferred it to be non-fried and a little healthy, like chunks of white meat chicken. I got the garlic chicken a few weeks ago, but was not really impressed.

****After trying several other Chinese food delivery places in the area, I'm more disappointed in the quality of the Chicken here. Pieces are small and heavily fried. They don't takes like breast meat or white meat chicken and the option for all-white meat isn't available. Taste, compared to other delivery options is superior so far. But the $15 minimum delivery is higher than many other locations.

I recommend: Orange Chicken, Sizzling Beef,  Cashew Chicken. And the Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork.

I wish it was the same price for brown rice as white rice.

Overall, tasty and fast for the price. I've had higher quality Chinese, but never in this price range. So I'm a happy customer and I'll order again.

NEVER ordering from this HORRIBLE place ever again. I order through GrubHub, and I stopped ordering when they decided to charge a whopping $6 for delivery (only 3 miles away) but I thought I'd try it one last time. Well, I'm sorry that I did, because who knew they'd charge me an EXTRA $3.00 for a side of spicy mayo!

This place is a joke and complete rip off. I've had so many bad experiences with this place- IT IS NOT WORTH IT. The service is just as bad as their outrages fees. What a waste of money and this place is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth.

If you don't like 88 Chinese, then you are broken.

After a long day and no interest in cooking, there was only one cure for my hunger - some tasty Chinese.  88 Chinese sounded fast and reasonably priced, so I gave it a shot.  THE BEST CHINESE DELIVERY EVER!  I'm not saying that you shouldn't go down to China Town or some place crazy authentic if you want the real experience, but this place is by far the best cheapish Chinese food I've ever had.

I got the ridiculously low priced combo meals of Spicy Garlic Chicken and Chicken and Green Beans and both of them were SO tasty.  They came with rice, soup and an egg roll which were all also delish. My favorite part was also how healthyish the food was.  All the veggies were surprisingly fresh and crispy and the chicken seemed to be of better quality than most.  Delivery was also lightning quick!!

If you live in mid city and are in need of some tasty Chinese delivery, then this is your place.  If not, then you're dumb.

I like this place, I truly do. They DELIVER sushi to your house. At night. Quickly. And you can order online. YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

You can call in or order online, they always get the order right. I've gone in a few times for pick up, and they have been very quick to make my order and pack it up to go. It isnt the nicest place inside, but a nice dine-in is not what 88 Chinese & Sushi is trying to be.

The food is very good. Ive gotten almost all of their rolls and some Pad Thai and all of it has been great. The fish is always fresh, they make their rolls well. The Pad Thai has also been great.

All in all, very good place. They delivery and service alone deserve 5 stars. But it isnt the nicest place inside, and parking is somewhat hard to find (which you shoulnt be doing in the first place. They DELIVER!!!!!!,) and it isnt the best food ever - so I took 1 star off. Otherwise, it's very good, very convenient, and prices fairly. So go online and order!

This review is for Delivery, I have never dined in.

We have ordered from this place probably 7-8 times now and it is always sooo soooo good!

The best is their sweet and sour pork or chicken....the sauce is delish!

Their mongolian beef, orange flavored beef, chinese chicken salad, and lo main noodles are all good too.

The only thing that was not good was the spicy shrimp...small shrimp and not spicy with a ton of veggies.  Bleh

They are always really fast to deliver AND I dont think they charge a delivery fee bc it is always really cheap, like $21 even for two orders of entrees including rice which is awesome!

I wouldn't consider this the best restaurant or even the best Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles.  But I can tell you I order lunch delivery at least once a week from this place.  Their food is decent, it gets to my office amazingly fast...and the cost is absolutely affordable.

If you're in the WeHo area and need a quick lunch delivered.  Give them a call.

Missing the more Cantonese style of Chinese cooking in New York, for the most part I have been disappointed with the "general" and I don't mean General Tso's Chinese restaurants that LA has to offer...

The awesome Dim Sum houses that The San Gabriel Valley has to offer and 88 Chinese is the exception to this overall general feeling about the Chinese food in LA.

My girlfriend and I found this place when we lived off of Melrose and we were looking for some late night grind... There is always Damianos Mr. pizza till 4am which is where we were headed a little past 1am and we noticed there was a Chinese restaurant still serving!

Change of plans and our late night dining crave quickly made a new friend!

I have never had the sushi here, so I can't comment, although I will say I am a purist at heart.  I go to Chinese restaurants for Chinese food as I go to sushi restaurants for sushi.... To me it's like going to a Land Rover dealer to purchase a Prius... either way your going to be disappointed!

Back to 88!  They deliver late!  And they are fast!  If they say 30 minutes, expect them to be there within 20!  Think about it... from the time you order and hang up the phone, there Chef is already throwing ingredients into the wok to get you your order perfectly cooked, out the door and on your dinner table in twenty... how do they do that?

The food is so fast and hot, it's the same quality as if you were eating it right there in there restaurant!

    Favorites on the menu;
The BBQ spare ribs, The Honey Mustard Chicken with Brown Rice, The Sweet and Pungent Shrimp, Spicy garlic Fish, Can't remember the flat noodle with mixed chicken, shrimp and beef and the sweet and sour pork which they use 'giant" pieces of white meat pork!!!  Yum, it's better than my childhood memories of Sweet/Sour Pork!

Did I mention Sam the manager?  Sam is awesome!  When my girlfriend and I lived off of Melrose, we used to order from him probably twice a week.  He practically new our order before we even said it!

As an example, my girlfriend does not eat mung bean sprouts.... She is from Asia and has a different childhood memory of how they harvest mung bean sprouts- i'll save you the disgusting details of that, cause I still happen to like them!  Anyways, Sam new us and would always remind me when I forgot to say 'no bean sprouts."

When we were looking for a new place to live, we would call Sam to find out if the new place was still in there delivery area....

We settled on a house in North Hollywood, however we both work on that side of the hill and probably once every two-three weeks, one of us will stop by 88 on the way home from work, pick up the usual suspects- no bean sprouts of course and have our routine...

    Couch- Check!
Coffee Table with Auslese Riesling in Ice Bucket-Check!
Dog with bad table manners locked up in his room-check!
Episodes of Weeds, Dexter or Californications lined up-check!
A variety of 88 Chinese that is fit for an Emperor- CHECK!

"8" is a lucky/ good number in Chinese numerology because it has good energy.... Continuos flow in the figure "8"  "88" must be double good luck, energy and double good happiness especially when it comes to there food and fast delivery service!

    Two more days till Monday!

The best part about this establishment is that they are open late.

Me and my friend both worked across the street and we stopped by for lunch here we got a combination plates and wanton soup which was for big since it fed two big guys. Good lunch place, really hit the spot.

Now we came here on a later night and grabbed sushi. The sushi was good and it had a home feel to it, but it just didnt cut it.

88 Chinese is a great place to eat for lunch. My favorite is the orange chicken with egg fried rice. Sushi is good too. I like to eat with my work buddies. Delivery is quick. Prices are reasonable. And the fortune on the fortune cookies are interesting. Too bad none of the fortune has happen to me yet.

This place rocks. It's way better than Kung Pao Kitty. Don't listen to the haters. Try it out. Especially the sushi.

I ordered delivery from here twice. First time they got my order right and second time they forgot the spicy mayo on the cut roll I ordered and also did not give me ANY soy sauce. Both times it took about 45-50 minutes. As far as food quality, they have average sushi when compared to other delivery sushi places. If they were reliable I would order from here much more cause sometimes I just don't feel like going out after a hard day of work and delivery food is usually so unhealthy.

Just placed an order through Eat24. On their site, this place is 4.5 stars, really? First of all, I had a $5.00 off discount, yet when the food came, it did not show the discount. Next, all the food was cold! How? It was delivered within an hour, but it was not even warm.
The chicken fried rice was white.....never seen that before. The chicken was cut up into tiny pieces, never saw that before either. The food was bland, cold, and tasteless. Will not recommend, or ever order from there again.

Great tasting Chinese food--delivers until 3:15 am on Friday and Saturday night.  Just the thing you need if you arrive late at night at you hotel room and the only thing you want to more than sleep is eat.

It's vegetarian friendly, and they didn't mess up our long phone order.  Thanks, this was a welcomed source of food for us for a couple of days on our journey from SF to Phoenix.

    Bush league "Chinese" food.

Steamed dumplings weren't cooked at all - hard, dry and chewy. Meat inside was barely flavored. Dipping sauce was nasty - something fruity and pungent in there (tamarind?) Did not work at all with the dumplings, or on it's own. I prefer the standard soy sauce/vinegar/ginger/scallion sauce. My best friend liked the dumplings, though. I'm referring to my dog, who probably confused them with rawhide chewies.

Shrimp dish... not sure what it was (besides bland and salty.) "Fried" shrimp with random, scant chopped scallions, dried red peppers and a few wonton strips. The shrimp were boring - coated in what seemed like standard bread crumbs which had been loaded with salt. So, the main flavor of this dish is salted bread crumbs. Huh?

Orange chicken was more like orange chicken jerky - thin, tough pieces. Passable flavor, but all around was strip mall caliber.

    FAIL.

A perfect example of "don't just a restaurant by it's location" - 88 Chinese & Sushi sits on Fairfax between Beverly & Melrose; poppin' area for sure, but a great place for sushi and Chinese food? Well, in short: YES!

I came here the other night with some friends looking for a late night meal.  We cruised in around 8:30 and the place was pretty cleared out; we were seated in no time and drooling over all the options on the menu.  And, man, are there options!  88 Chinese & Sushi has a great conglomeration of the best Chinese dishes around plus great sushi made with fresh fish.  Now, being a sushi snob - I was a little miffed at the small selection of specialty rolls and premium fish, but hey, can't win 'em all.

Between four of us we ordered 5 dishes, and literally within the next seven minutes they were all sitting in front of us!  The crispy noodles with veggies are delightlful, the orange chicken is crunchy with just the right amount of kick, the rainbow roll was fresh and delicious and the pan fried dumplings are basically a new way to my heart.

This place is in such a seedy part of Fairfax and the exterior is really not much to look at. But:

    - "A" cleanliness rating
    - they use hi tech systems to place your order
    - take out is extremely faaast
    - open ridiculously late
    - the chinese guys running the place are really westernized and cool

big bonus #1: I bought a shrimp tempura roll, took it home, started eating it 40 minutes later and it was still cruchy

big bonus #2: They wrap the seaweed on the *outside.* Seaweed on the outside always gets an extra star from yours truely

The orange chicken is not orange chicken. There is no orange taste or sugary taste at all. Instead its tough thin white chicken pieces with an overly salty soy type sauce. WAY TOO SALTY. It's not even crunchy.

The chow fun was very blah. The sauce was hardly even covering the noodles. The few veggies were good though. And the chicken was good quality and tender.

This place has the feel of a neighborhood joint but the prices reflect a more trendy, upscale, interesting restaurant - which this is not.

I won't return to this restaurant.

This place is super "Asiany" inside, but it's too bad the food doesn't reflect its imported from China furniture.

    Service:
    Great service, very friendly.

    Prices:
    Decent enough.

    Food:
ZOMG PANDA EXPRESS HAS A RESTAURANT THAT MAKES SUSHI TOO????

Okay in all seriousness, this place tastes like Pei Wei except saltier. I ordered some sort of fish dish & it honestly tasted like black bean sauce + a cup of sea salt. The portions are family style-ish. I eat a lot so I pretty much finished my dish, but for those that get full after a bowl of rice, they give you tons of food.

Didn't try the sushi, tempted, but after trying their fish dish, I was really glad I didn't.

    Environment:
I feel like I was sitting in a restaurant whose interior decorator was a non-Asian person trying to make you feel like you were in his/her vision of China. It was really tacky...at least Pei Wei doesn't try that hard.

Don't recommend this place. Maybe if you're really hungry & craving for Americanized "Asian" food, sure. Shame on you 88 Chinese & Sushi. You're clearly owned by Asians, but you make food catered to people who think Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food. My mother would be so disappointed in you.

Delicious food.  Price is slightly on the higher side for chinese but the quality makes up for it.  Nice that they have sushi, but they don't have a large selection of it.  Someone mentioned white chocolate fortune cookies, but they no longer have them.  Overall, good food, just slightly overpriced.

So there other night after a night out on the town, I had an urge for some good ol chines food however, i looked at my watch and it was well after 10 pm....hmmmm where can i go to get some chinese food this late..THANK GOD for the YELP APP...lol found this lil spot and it wasn't to far from where i was, parking wasn't the best but after i found parking, i was omw in. To my surprise, it was pretty empty, now i always get a little leary when i see an EMPTY restaurant but given the time, i figured that the club "let out" really hadn't hit yet so there rush will prolly come in , soon after i arrived a few straglers came in so i felt at ease.

Anywhoot, after being seated, he handed me a take out me a takeout menu which i thought was bit odd, nevertheless, i got the shrimp fried rice along with some orange chicken. For what it was, the rice was pretty good, had about 3 shrimp in it but still for what it was it was ok, the orange chicken was decent, the pieces were a little thin, im used to the panda express overly battered americanized OC, but nonetheless good.

Overall, you could probably catch me here one late night when everything is closed and im aching for some chinese food. (Theyre open until 3am on friday nights) the 3 stars was due to the parking, and portions of the shrimp and rice, the waiter told me it was a sizable portion, however, for ONE yes, for 2 NO. The prices were a bit high for my taste as well for the quality. Still a good choice.

    ENJOY :)

    This place is yummmmy.

First experience - delivery to friends apt. I played it safe by ordering the chicken chow mien. It was divine and a HUGE order. I could fed a house of 4 with the amount of food left over from what I ate. Seriously.

Second experience - decided to go into the restaurant to try it out. It was an early Sunday evening. No one else was eating in. About 6 people did come in for take out though. We got a standard sushi role, combo chow mien and Mongolian beef. SOOO yummy. I enjoyed every bite and ate way more than last time due to missing lunch. Seriously the portions are extremely large. Def worth the money. What makes me a fan though is that when you dine in your fortune cookie is dipped in white chocolate. That was the best fortune cookie I have ever eaten. EVER EATEN.

Easy, Americanized Chinese/Sushi takeout. Ordered online (hooray for no human contact!) and our food was here within the hour

... great dinner combos for the price -- for under $15 I got a spicy tuna roll, miso soup, spring roll, HUGE entree portion of chicken w/string beans, and fried rice! The food is good, if slightly MSG-tasting (but who knows!) and just what you'd expect and desire from quick and easy rainy-night takeout.

This Chinese restaurant is one of the best in West Hollywood.  It's clean, everything is in order.  Their food is excellent and delicious.  They are fast, too.  Their delivery service is excellent, too.  They are open for all occasions.  Their prices are reasonable.  Pinky, one of their staff is nice and smiles at customers at all times.  I love their singaporean noodles and sizzling thai chicken.  Also try their sushis.  goodah...they have good parking spots at night.  They have 1 or 2 spots at daytime.

Very delicious, cheap food with generous portions! They tried charging me the delivery fee even though I'm only 2 miles away from them but once I told them otherwise, they were accommodating. I've ordered at least 3 times from them since.

    Basically:

-The eggrolls tastes like the kind you get frozen at grocery stores
-The vegetable roll is basically a pickle wrapped in seaweed and rice
-I saw a box in the kitchen marked "Pre-fried Shrimp Tempura" which means, I believe, that those aren't made fresh in the kitchen either.

Just buy frozen Chinese food from a grocery store and you'll save money. Or go to one of the many much better chinese/sushi places.

This place is great. A favorite of Gratson Company. You can get the favorite of my man Dgrat (the orange chicken) or some of the awesome sushi (good lunch time prices). My old buddy Phil used to get the noodles..but I haven't tried them yet.

This is the best Chinese place in L.A.  The orange chicken is the best I've ever had!  They are the fastest delivery in town too.

My husband and I ordered delivery from 88 on Saturday night around 6pm - they told us our order would take an 45 minutes to deliver.  When 7:15 rolls around I call them up and ask where our order is - the woman who answers gives a quick "its on the way" and hangs up.  Sure enough our order arrives at 7:25.

Now for the food, which is actually pretty good, is highly over priced. The portions here are fairly standard for a take out chinese place, but you'll pay a good $3 more per dish.

Our favorite two items were the crispy pan fried noodles with vegetables and the orange shrimp.  We also ordered the spicy sushi roll combo dinner, which was a huge mistake - the sushi was hardly spicy and the ingredients somewhat soggy and old.

Maybe eating in here is a better experience, but delivery that was nearly half an hour late really ruined this place for us.

Very good! The orange chicken is amazing! So is the shrimp fried rice. I have not tried their sushi yet. But I might just stick with their Chinese food! Yum! Fast delivery too, and not to expensive.

I usually order from here from http://grubhub.com so this isn't a restaurant review, rather than a delivery review.
I like the fact that their lunch specials are every day till 4p.m. and the not so great is that they take about 45-60 mins to deliver.
Other than that it's great that they deliver to my side of town and it's good sushi.

We have ordered many times from 88 in the past and it was "ok" by LA standards.  However the last time we ordered will be our LAST TIME.  They must be putting tons of MSG in the food now because we both felt really horrible after choking down our food.  Definitely a change in chefs that is not for the best.
